She was an incredible Ghostface. Personally, I felt the Kate/Maureen storyline should have been discussed more on screen, considering she was such a pivotal member of the previous entries. But heck, this video will do.
Depending on how you look at it, personally I thought of it as a bitter line from a woman shadowed by her sibling to the point nobody really cared about her. Yes it can be seen as selfish entitlement, but once you acknowledge why she says it, it has a deeper meaning, since she felt trapped in the shadow of her infamous sister, so much so that people only asked about her sister, not actually about her as a person.
I never understood why the likes of Roman, Jill and Kate thought Sidney liked and wanted her fame when Sidney would rather have been unknown with her mother alive than famous for being the daughter of Woodsboro's most well known murder victim and surviving killers.

I’ve always thought psychotic tendencies ran in Maureen’s side of the family, Roman, Jill, Kate just couldn’t let go of Sid’s being the center of attention. When some other studio buys the franchise with Scream 9, 10 and 11 with Sid’s children will probably fall victim to the family’s curse of murderous jealousy towards one another.

I think you might be onto something, specially 'cause the "tell Jill I'm sorry" line always seemed so random to me, but I wouldn't go to deep about it anyway. Kate was bitter, and so Jill was raised to be envious and superficial. I say this because Jill is a killer I don't see murdering for fun, like Billy, Stu, Mickey or Amber, but more so as a means to an end, in the vein of Mrs. Loomis. She gives me entitled and over-protected apathetic pragmatic princess more so than mistreated misanthropic sadist. Theory videos are super entertaining though. I once read a suggestion saying Kate should been the second killer and I never forgot about it. Having Kate be the second killer would’ve been better and unexpected than Charlie. As Jill was overshadowed by Sidney, Kate was overshadowed by Maureen. Earlier in the movie, I honestly thought her line about her scars was a hint/indication that she was jealous of Maureen and she’s one of the killers. This movie tackles remakes and came out during the era where reality shows and the Kardashians’ popularity were at it’s peak, Kate could’ve groomed Jill to be the next Sidney. She would pose as her “momager” (like Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian).

While Amber has more of a grunge/alternative kinda style, is definitely more hands-on and brutal, extroverted and more explosive.

You forgot one important part of Jill's quote referring to her mother who had to die: her passing comment "no great loss there". That's says it all. She didn't feel her mother's presence in her life or absence make any difference.

As I recall, the original Kate character was going to be “promiscuous” (similar to the persona of Maureen) and have slept with at least one of Jill’s friends. That would have explained their distance, Jill’s resentment, and why Kate’s final words are “tell Jill I’m sorry…”
Thank you for this amazing video! Kate Roberts has always represented one of the biggest missed opportunities for developing the background and lore that the entire Scream franchise is based upon. Maureen Prescott’s activities around Woodsboro are the root cause of everything that has come to pass, including the deaths of close to 40 people over the span of two and a half decades. Despite being shown clips of Maureen with men in Scream 3, Billy, Stu, and Roman’s hatful remarks, and some dialogue between Sidney and Gale, Tatum, and her father, we virtually know nothing of this immensely important character that is central to the franchise other than Maureen’s sexual assault at Milton’s mansion before marrying Sid’s father and then her extramarital affairs in Woodsboro with the likes of Cotton and Hank Loomis. Sidney never comments on her mother or their happy times together and we are given ONE brief exchange between Sidney and her father in Scream 3 that only amounts to Maureen being described as full of secrets. This is why Kate and Jill to an extent was a great opportunity to possibly learn more about Maureen as a person and also learn more about Sidney, her relatives, and possibly some information about Maureen’s past before she left Woodsboro for Hollywood, and how it affected her upon her return home when she began to build a family of her own with Neil Prescott. Kate Roberts is the ONLY character presented to us in the franchise that could possibly know the truth regarding several of Maureen’s biggest secrets. The character offered a way to keep the story of Scream 4 and any potential sequels the ability to create something knew while also being able to link the new films with the character that started all of the death and mayhem we have seen thus far. That is why it is always such a disappointment to me that they had an INCREDIBLE actress hired to play such an important character as Kate should have been, but is only given one to two scenes in the entire film and only ONE scene with only Kate and Sidney together. I would have loved it if they had used the opportunity to have Sidney ask Kate some questions about her mother that Sidney has been holding onto for years. This was an opportunity to learn more about Sidney’s maternal side of the family and possibly learn who her mother really was beneath all of the lies and secrets. To have this character’s to be completely sidelined and have close to all of her scenes cut from the movie, was an incredibly bad decision as her death eliminated pretty much any chance to build on the lore of the series in future films.
It all started with Jake Behari and then a crush on Randy Klein but it was always about Jake then she found herself in Woodsboro with her cousin she dubbed the angel of death, what a terrible life for such a tragic girl who wrote songs about middle school life.

I know you didn’t ask for feedback, but you do ask sometimes in the community section lol. Just wanted to say I love when you keep the intro music playing in the background throughout the entire video. A small detail, but its such a staple for the tone and mood for all your videos.
Jill disregarded her mother because her mother neglected her and thus Jill didn't have a happy childhood. Her childhood was spent with Jill being the parent towards her mother who should've been the parental figure. This caused Jill to grow an extreme defense mechanism and jealousy towards those around her. Another sign of possible neglect is that Jill's bedroom looks bland and generic however the rest of the Robert's house looks really nice and merticulous so that may imply that Kate has spent more on herself than on her daughter despite any awards/rewards Jill may have received at places like school for example therefore making Jill feel even more isolated. See although Jill gains pleasure from her kills the thing is overall she is not a happy person whereas Sidney was at the beginning of Scream 4 and obviously becomes more saddened by the experience. In actuality when you break it down Kate is the catalyst of it all.

I think it would have been more interesting if kate Roberts was behind all of what happened in the 4th movie and jill not knowing nor being involved with it and her mom uses one of her friends to do all the dirty work then at the end you find out kate wanted fame and was willing even to kill jill to get it she was tired of being in her sister and Sidney shadow and could have been trying to set jill up to be Sidney when that didn't work she was just going to make herself the poor grieving mother who survived jill wasn't a bad Ghostface but this way would have had so many more layers and they could have set jill up to be the next Sidney for the next movies there was so many wasted opportunities here

The characters of Jill and especially Kate are so much WASTED POTENTIAL for a great storyline,explaining more of Jill's and Kate's personalities and their past and Kate's past with maureen and maybe even roman
Jill has two motives. None of them makes her sympathetic. Her main motive was feeling as if her mother loves Sidney better, and from there comes her second motive, which is to become famous. Feeling unloved was twisted into wanting fame. She wanted to kill Sidney and become her. Obviously fame had a major part, but the main reason she wanted to become Sidney is because she wanted to be loved like Sidney. She's still not sympathetic though, because he wish to be loved manifested in killing anyone who ever loved her, including her own mother. Spoiler alert: She's even worse than Roman and Wayne.
Also I mean Jill’s dad clearly isn’t present, whether he died or left or whatever, so growing up with an absent father probably negatively affected her as it would anyone

To me Jill Roberts is the most evil Ghostface of them all. Not only did she killed her own friends but her own mother, yes Roman had his birth mom killed but that was out of vengeance. But for Jill everyone is expendable. Now Billy Loomis is a killer but compared to Jill she makes him look like sweetheart. When she found out that Sidney was still alive she tried to kill her in the hospital now would she still do it even if she knew place is full of security cameras? Without a doubt to her nothing matters to her that she's beyond caring at this point.
I actually have a theory about how the films Urban Legend and Valentine (2001) COULD ACTUALLY EXIST in the Scream universe. Here goes (contains spoilers for Urban Legend and Valentine): Prior to the main events of Urban Legend Brenda Bates (played by Rebecca Gayheart) is going from one university and colleges to another under different aliases to try and find Natalie. One of the colleges she infiltrates is Windsor College when the events of Scream 2 occur. Then in Scream 4 when Jill's mother Kate says "I have scars too, but no one pays any attention to those." What if she wasn't just talking about her trauma about losing her sister? What if it turned out Paige Prescott (Denise Richards) from Valentine, was her older daughter and therefore Jill's older sister, that she lost from another masked maniac?
OMG I love the possibility of Paige being Sidney's cousin. It'd be strange though with Deputy Judy Hicks being played by Marley Shelton, Valentine's Kate.
Fun take. Although if you go by what is presented in the movie... ALL THE KIDS should be killers since none of their parents are around. There's killings that had happened and OLIVIA's parents let her go out at night and aren't even at the house while some crazy killer is around? haha Also it should be said is Jill is very much a sociopath. I think Jill's and Charlie's killing spree affected Sam because she found out about Billy a year before or after the 2011 killing spree. It opened some kind of wound knowing that her father is responsible for many deaths including the one's at the time she found out that he is her father.
Because he doesn't really care for them,plus there isn't much on them as characters for a backstory .The only things are that Mickey was a killer before becoming ghostface and Charlie wasn't liked by kirby back(even tho Charlie looked like he was abused or something,maybe by his parents?)
I don't like that line that Sidney says at the end 'I don't know about you, but I certainly feel a lot better.' She just killed someone in her family, and she says something like that. I know that she probably had to do it to stop Jill, but if something like this was to happen in real life, I think she would actually be beside herself. I don't think I would be making quirky little lines after I just killed my cousin. After watching this video about Jill's dysfunctional home life, I feel even more so annoyed with Sidney for killing her.

I enjoyed Emma Roberts as a killer. And I'm usually really good at guessing the killers and for a brief moment my mind went to her but I was a little embarrassed that I didn't guess her but I think she did a great job. My biggest issue is the fact that neither one of them were intimidating physically knives are not like guns. And a big hunting knife like that is absolutely dangerous but you could take a knife to the stomach and fight back and if Jill stabbed me with a knife I would beat the fuck out of her even if I was going to die from bleeding out. I'm not going to die immediately. And she's 5'1 and weighs 100 lb. I'm not even a massive guy. But I'm 5'11 and I weigh 215 and I am an ex wrestler and ex-body builder. She would never overpower me one punch to the face and she be done. Same thing with Amber. And it's not just because they're women cuz I feel the same way about charlie. Charlie's 5'5 and weighs 145 lb. I would break him in half. At least Mrs Loomis was like 5'8. And she really only killed randy. And it was a surprise attack from behind I don't really like the fact that they wrestled around as long as they did but she grabbed him from behind and probably stabbed him immediately it's completely plausible that he never got his bearings since he was not expecting it. I can suspend disbelief with that. And I have no problem suspending disbelief in general but the fact that ghostface is always like 6 ft 1 or 6 ft 2 and she's a foot shorter than that and when you see her in the damn costume she's tiny I think they should have done a better job putting her in platforms to make her look like she's like 5 10. And I'm sorry but when you have someone as small as her and Amber and Charlie it's hard to believe. I mean Billy was not a big guy but he was at least 6 ft and Matthew Lillard was like 6'3 and Mickey was probably 6'3. When you have these tiny ass human beings that are supposed to be overpowering people and killing them with knives which takes much longer than guns it's just hard to believe. I think you might be onto something, specially 'cause the "tell Jill I'm sorry" line always seemed so random to me, but I wouldn't go to deep about it anyway. Kate was bitter, and so Jill was raised to be envious and superficial. I say this because Jill is a killer I don't see murdering for fun, like Billy, Stu, Mickey or Amber, but more so as a means to an end, in the vein of Mrs. Loomis. She gives me entitled and over-protected apathetic pragmatic princess more so than mistreated misanthropic sadist. Theory videos are super entertaining though. I once read a suggestion saying Kate should been the second killer and I never forgot about it. Having Kate be the second killer would’ve been better and unexpected than Charlie.
As Jill was overshadowed by Sidney, Kate was overshadowed by Maureen. Earlier in the movie, I honestly thought her line about her scars was a hint/indication that she was jealous of Maureen and she’s one of the killers.
This movie tackles remakes and came out during the era where reality shows and the Kardashians’ popularity were at it’s peak, Kate could’ve groomed Jill to be the next Sidney. She would pose as her “momager” (like Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian).

She carried that over to Were the Miller's which was a hit comedy that came out 2 years after Scream 4 in 2013.
You forgot one important part of Jill's quote referring to her mother who had to die: her passing comment "no great loss there". That's says it all. She didn't feel her mother's presence in her life or absence make any difference.

As I recall, the original Kate character was going to be “promiscuous” (similar to the persona of Maureen) and have slept with at least one of Jill’s friends. That would have explained their distance, Jill’s resentment, and why Kate’s final words are “tell Jill I’m sorry…”
Thank you for this amazing video! Kate Roberts has always represented one of the biggest missed opportunities for developing the background and lore that the entire Scream franchise is based upon. Maureen Prescott’s activities around Woodsboro are the root cause of everything that has come to pass, including the deaths of close to 40 people over the span of two and a half decades. Despite being shown clips of Maureen with men in Scream 3, Billy, Stu, and Roman’s hatful remarks, and some dialogue between Sidney and Gale, Tatum, and her father, we virtually know nothing of this immensely important character that is central to the franchise other than Maureen’s sexual assault at Milton’s mansion before marrying Sid’s father and then her extramarital affairs in Woodsboro with the likes of Cotton and Hank Loomis. Sidney never comments on her mother or their happy times together and we are given ONE brief exchange between Sidney and her father in Scream 3 that only amounts to Maureen being described as full of secrets.
This is why Kate and Jill to an extent was a great opportunity to possibly learn more about Maureen as a person and also learn more about Sidney, her relatives, and possibly some information about Maureen’s past before she left Woodsboro for Hollywood, and how it affected her upon her return home when she began to build a family of her own with Neil Prescott. Kate Roberts is the ONLY character presented to us in the franchise that could possibly know the truth regarding several of Maureen’s biggest secrets. The character offered a way to keep the story of Scream 4 and any potential sequels the ability to create something knew while also being able to link the new films with the character that started all of the death and mayhem we have seen thus far.
That is why it is always such a disappointment to me that they had an INCREDIBLE actress hired to play such an important character as Kate should have been, but is only given one to two scenes in the entire film and only ONE scene with only Kate and Sidney together. I would have loved it if they had used the opportunity to have Sidney ask Kate some questions about her mother that Sidney has been holding onto for years. This was an opportunity to learn more about Sidney’s maternal side of the family and possibly learn who her mother really was beneath all of the lies and secrets. To have this character’s to be completely sidelined and have close to all of her scenes cut from the movie, was an incredibly bad decision as her death eliminated pretty much any chance to build on the lore of the series in future films.
It all started with Jake Behari and then a crush on Randy Klein but it was always about Jake then she found herself in Woodsboro with her cousin she dubbed the angel of death, what a terrible life for such a tragic girl who wrote songs about middle school life.

Just wanted to say I love when you keep the intro music playing in the background throughout the entire video. A small detail, but its such a staple for the tone and mood for all your videos.
Jill disregarded her mother because her mother neglected her and thus Jill didn't have a happy childhood. Her childhood was spent with Jill being the parent towards her mother who should've been the parental figure. This caused Jill to grow an extreme defense mechanism and jealousy towards those around her. Another sign of possible neglect is that Jill's bedroom looks bland and generic however the rest of the Robert's house looks really nice and merticulous so that may imply that Kate has spent more on herself than on her daughter despite any awards/rewards Jill may have received at places like school for example therefore making Jill feel even more isolated. See although Jill gains pleasure from her kills the thing is overall she is not a happy person whereas Sidney was at the beginning of Scream 4 and obviously becomes more saddened by the experience. In actuality when you break it down Kate is the catalyst of it all.

I think it would have been more interesting if kate Roberts was behind all of what happened in the 4th movie and jill not knowing nor being involved with it and her mom uses one of her friends to do all the dirty work then at the end you find out kate wanted fame and was willing even to kill jill to get it she was tired of being in her sister and Sidney shadow and could have been trying to set jill up to be Sidney when that didn't work she was just going to make herself the poor grieving mother who survived jill wasn't a bad Ghostface but this way would have had so many more layers and they could have set jill up to be the next Sidney for the next movies there was so many wasted opportunities here

Jill has two motives. None of them makes her sympathetic. Her main motive was feeling as if her mother loves Sidney better, and from there comes her second motive, which is to become famous. Feeling unloved was twisted into wanting fame. She wanted to kill Sidney and become her. Obviously fame had a major part, but the main reason she wanted to become Sidney is because she wanted to be loved like Sidney. She's still not sympathetic though, because he wish to be loved manifested in killing anyone who ever loved her, including her own mother. Spoiler alert: She's even worse than Roman and Wayne.

To me Jill Roberts is the most evil Ghostface of them all. Not only did she killed her own friends but her own mother, yes Roman had his birth mom killed but that was out of vengeance. But for Jill everyone is expendable. Now Billy Loomis is a killer but compared to Jill she makes him look like sweetheart. When she found out that Sidney was still alive she tried to kill her in the hospital now would she still do it even if she knew place is full of security cameras? Without a doubt to her nothing matters to her that she's beyond caring at this point.

I actually have a theory about how the films Urban Legend and Valentine (2001) COULD ACTUALLY EXIST in the Scream universe. Here goes (contains spoilers for Urban Legend and Valentine):
Prior to the main events of Urban Legend Brenda Bates (played by Rebecca Gayheart) is going from one university and colleges to another under different aliases to try and find Natalie. One of the colleges she infiltrates is Windsor College when the events of Scream 2 occur. Then in Scream 4 when Jill's mother Kate says "I have scars too, but no one pays any attention to those." What if she wasn't just talking about her trauma about losing her sister? What if it turned out Paige Prescott (Denise Richards) from Valentine, was her older daughter and therefore Jill's older sister, that she lost from another masked maniac?
OMG I love the possibility of Paige being Sidney's cousin. It'd be strange though with Deputy Judy Hicks being played by Marley Shelton, Valentine's Kate.
Fun take. Although if you go by what is presented in the movie... ALL THE KIDS should be killers since none of their parents are around. There's killings that had happened and OLIVIA's parents let her go out at night and aren't even at the house while some crazy killer is around? haha
Also it should be said is Jill is very much a sociopath. Not to mention how she treats people as objects and has no empathy for anybody.

I think Jill's and Charlie's killing spree affected Sam because she found out about Billy a year before or after the 2011 killing spree. It opened some kind of wound knowing that her father is responsible for many deaths including the one's at the time she found out that he is her father.

I don't like that line that Sidney says at the end 'I don't know about you, but I certainly feel a lot better.' She just killed someone in her family, and she says something like that. I know that she probably had to do it to stop Jill, but if something like this was to happen in real life, I think she would actually be beside herself. I don't think I would be making quirky little lines after I just killed my cousin. After watching this video about Jill's dysfunctional home life, I feel even more so annoyed with Sidney for killing her.

I enjoyed Emma Roberts as a killer. And I'm usually really good at guessing the killers and for a brief moment my mind went to her but I was a little embarrassed that I didn't guess her but I think she did a great job. My biggest issue is the fact that neither one of them were intimidating physically knives are not like guns. And a big hunting knife like that is absolutely dangerous but you could take a knife to the stomach and fight back and if Jill stabbed me with a knife I would beat the fuck out of her even if I was going to die from bleeding out. I'm not going to die immediately. And she's 5'1 and weighs 100 lb. I'm not even a massive guy. But I'm 5'11 and I weigh 215 and I am an ex wrestler and ex-body builder. She would never overpower me one punch to the face and she be done. Same thing with Amber. And it's not just because they're women cuz I feel the same way about charlie. Charlie's 5'5 and weighs 145 lb. I would break him in half. At least Mrs Loomis was like 5'8. And she really only killed randy. And it was a surprise attack from behind I don't really like the fact that they wrestled around as long as they did but she grabbed him from behind and probably stabbed him immediately it's completely plausible that he never got his bearings since he was not expecting it. I can suspend disbelief with that. And I have no problem suspending disbelief in general but the fact that ghostface is always like 6 ft 1 or 6 ft 2 and she's a foot shorter than that and when you see her in the damn costume she's tiny I think they should have done a better job putting her in platforms to make her look like she's like 5 10. And I'm sorry but when you have someone as small as her and Amber and Charlie it's hard to believe. I mean Billy was not a big guy but he was at least 6 ft and Matthew Lillard was like 6'3 and Mickey was probably 6'3. When you have these tiny ass human beings that are supposed to be overpowering people and killing them with knives which takes much longer than guns it's just hard to believe. Like I'm telling you have Jill walk up and stab me in the stomach. I'm going to punch her in the face break her jaw and knock her out and sure maybe I'll bleed out and die a couple minutes later but she's not absolutely not overpowering me
Charlie does get floored in one scene. Sidney high kicks him and he K.O's right after Olivia's death.
