I always wondered how Kirby felt finding out that Jill was one of the murderers. She gets stabbed by Charlie, goes into a coma and almost dies, then wakes up not knowing anything that happened. I imagine she was like “Where’s Jill??? Is she okay???” and people being like “Well, actually…” That must have been pretty traumatizing. I wish we got more first hand information on it, but the look she gave Jill’s shirt in Scream 6 did tell a lot. She didn’t look angry or sickened; she looked sad and that was why I wanted even more for her to talk about it. She never knew Jill, her best friend since childhood, as a murderer at all and that has to mess with your head.

Scream 4 has so much potential but I feel like it was sabotaged (arguably) more than scream 3. Scenes that they filmed and deleted would have added more quality to the film (I’ve seen the alternative version on TH-cam and I like it better than the theatrical)
Yea personally for me Scream 4 is my least favorite of the series. The version we got I thought was pretty lack luster honestly. This scene alone adds so much to the movie. Excited to hear about the final act in the next video.

They really should’ve kept this in. I liked this idea better, but I will point out Sydney says in the original Scream she “doesn’t watch that shit” referring to horror movies, yet she seems to know an awful lot in this version of the script of Scream 4.
She knew the first Stab cause she well… lived it? She could have brushed up a little bit, but it was Kirby who was answering everything. Sidney just helped her when it came to Jason in Friday the 13th, knowing it was a trick question and then helping her decide an age. I like to think maybe Randy taught the classics before the second movie. 😅
The line right after that "They're all the same, some stupid killer stalking some big breasted girl who can't act who's always running upstairs when she should be going out the front door it's insulting" and her knowing Jamie Lee Curtis starred in all the movies at the party in Scream 1 suggest Sidney has seen a few horror movies and knows a little knowledge of them.
While this was a much more intense and written scene. Kirby gets stabbed multiple times which would have been much harder for her to survive. I'm glad this didn't make the final cut cause otherwise there's no way Kirby would have made it out alive in S4. Also before someone mentions Chad's attack in S6... love the character but even I was shocked that he survived that attack
I mean she was little more than a red herring in 6 tbh. As much as I like her, her survival in the final version of these movies is almost inconsequential outside of fan service, she would have deserved to survive more had this version of the script stayed in. And she's my favorite character in 4
The writing in Scream 6 plummeted like my fave towards the end of the movie. Chad should have died and honestly with how Mindy was useless the whole time and horrible comedic relief she should have died. I think there were more failed kill attempts than successful ones.
I would like to see how Kirby figured out that Jill was the other killer. They should have shown the scene when Kirby gets up and goes to the basement, I mean: show it in Scream VI. I think it was what happened.
That would've been an amazing turn on events. That's how you build a character to take the lead if you don't wanna focus too much on the legacy characters. You have Sidney the original on the side of a new character, make them feel safe and secure but it's actually Kirby who knows the answers not Sidney. That makes the fans see how capable Kirby is and shares some moments with the original like passing the torch in a subtle yet genuine and effective way. If that ended up on the movie, that'd make us root for Kirby even more for the upcoming films.
This scene was already intense af, but I love this version as well. It sent my anxiety through the roof! Plus to have seen Kirby and Sidney work together, would have only cemented her character and made her an even bigger fan favorite. Maybe this is a direction Radio Silence should take in part 7. We already got to see her "save" the Carpenter sisters in part 6 so imagine to see her reunite with Sidney and all of them take down Ghostface together? It would definitely push Kirby into Scream Legacy territory (which in my opinion, she's already a legacy character)
I feel like with the knowledge of knowing Jill is the killer, I can see why some may think this is a better version but I think on a first time viewing it would have made very little sense for Sidney not to seek out her closest blood relative rather than staying with her cousins friends that she barely knows. That's not to say Sidney doesn't care for Kirby, she does give her the heads up to keep the door closed if she can't trust Charlie but I think logically I understand why she went looking for Jill because for better or for worse family usually comes first. Plus Sidney says in Scream 1996 "You know I don't watch that shit" so I can see her thinking her time protecting Jill rather than helping with something she barely knows information on is better spent. I do agree that just the longer version of trivia with Kirby sounds like it would have been really suspenseful so I wish they would have kept more of that in, though I think pacing on paper over screen is also hard to judge.
Ehren ruined both Scream 3 & Scream 4 . Clearly Kevin’s drafts were better, I just wish the studios waited until they had Kevin & Neve for scream 3, rather than rush the production in scream 3 when they only had Neve for like 20 days therefore focusing on the supporting cast . And in the wake of Columbine removing most of the horror element . And having Kevin not available for both Scream 3 & 4, they should’ve held off until he was available. Especially after scream 3’s reviews, then to bring the series back 11 years later without the original writer’s involvement was a bad move on the studios part. But money is money, I guess they didn’t care about quality .
This seemed very fan fiction to me for multiple reasons. The typos. Sidney being into horror randomly. Sidney not liking horror is kinda her thing. It’s what’s saved her life many times over. The scene goes on for far too long. And people in America don’t call people “cow” in place of “bitch.” That’s a very British thing.
I think that the Jason’s age question is genius, only a massive horror fan could got it right. I would have left that over the questions made about the weapons used by the killers. I guessed they shortened the final scene to give it a faster rhythm 🤷🏻♂️

I do really enjoy a longer match of wits in this draft - however with Sidney there longer, and the length of the scene, I feel in action it gives the audience too much time to figure out the other Ghostface is Jill. I would love to see this worked into a future scream entry with Kirby, though.
The horror trivia was best part; we got more horror questions from Ghostface and I feel this version would been a good subversion of the trope of everyone getting some the questions wrong with Ghostface😊
This version would've been great, and felt a bit like passing the torch to Kirby. Maybe that's why it was changed, they thought it was too obvious she lived? Also, I think it was changed because having Sidney go upstairs to find Jill then made more sense, because she had a better idea of where Ghost Face was, and it allowed Kirby to shine more solo in that scene.
This version was so much better, in my opinion. The change in Charlie really comes across and I feel Kirby’s reaction to his reveal seems more shocking. It’s a shame it was changed.
Sidney doesn't like horror films and stated that before, so her knowledge about horror films wouldn't make sense. Yeah, it's cool to see Sidney helping Kirby with the trivia, but the movie just felt right. In the script it made Sidney seem more afraid when she actually was more of a fighter. For example, the scene where she tried to save Olivia, she wouldn't afraid to run into the house where Olivia was getting killed.
From reading the original script I can genuinely imagine a way more grander film on the same level of cinematography and tension as Scream 1's Casey Becker opening. I always find Scream 4's scale and execution lacking compared to previous films, it looks cheap despite having the highest budget. Why is the Craven films' original script's quality so good and the studios (yes I know it's mainly the Weinsteins) had to interfere to reduce the quality, glad the franchise is in better hands now at Paramount, and clearly they give the new directors complete creative freedom and not on their backs and reduce the quality as a result.
I like the longer phone call, yes, but perfecting it would’ve included some of the changes we got. In this Sidney leaves Kirby outside while the killer is about, which is dumb af and too convenient. Blend them and have it so partway through the longer call Sidney sees that Kirby knows her shit and decides to go check on Jill then while they’re all ‘safe’ inside and the killer is accounted for with Charlie like in the film. Also I do think it was a lot more gut wrenching in the film when you see Charlie is conflicted about Kirby and it makes more sense that he subsequently kind of aborts the job and Kirby survives.

Well, Billy and Stu are Ghostface whether they're in Ghostface attire or not, and she was their first victim. Not only that, but they also made sure that all the other murders would connect back to her, thus making it all one thing. They probably had no thought of continuing killing and putting on a costume at the time, but it's a technicality. She is, retroactively, the first Ghostface victim.
This version I think was way better. Having their trivia game as the catalyst for seeking Kirby makes her "death" way more gruesome and in my opinion well planned out. The version we got I almost thought it brought Charlie's character down. I get it he was upset that she ignored him all these years but to me that makes him weak and not really an intimidating ghostface. Also like BTM states having Sidney help Kirby with the triva proves Sid does know the genre she just chooses not to partake because it's pointless.
I do actually prefer the version we got. Charlie having clearly conflicting feelings made him far more interesting. He seemed attracted to Kirby the whole time, which had me wondering if Jill hadn’t deliberately reinforced the idea that those feelings would never be reciprocated. It would be true to a lot of real life criminal duos where the more submissive partner has feelings and doubts that the dominant partner has to deal with. It’s just a small touch that absolutely adds to both killers and it’s something we haven’t seen in any of the others.
This version feels more like he actually killed Kirby though rather than just severely injuring her. Maybe that’s why they scrapped it. Those last jabs could’ve been enough to assume she was done for.
scream 4 is my favourite of the franchise and I loved the scene we got between Charlie and Kirby as its so realistic. Charlie gives 'Columbine' vibes & is the perfect pathetic beta to balance out Jill's Alpha BDE
Has anybody thought of Kirby as the killer in Scream 7? Can anybody help me find more evidence? The killer in Scream 7, like the killer in Scream 3, should be the director of all the killings starting from Scream 5 (and could even be a part of it from Scream 4). When she and Bailey are discussing the countdown of the masks at the police station, she quotes the killer: "nobody cares about the movies". Giving similar vibes to from the ghostface who killed Jason (Tony Revolori) in the opening scene of the same movie. Moreover, Kirby is also the one who isolates Gale and pushes her away from the "tracking the phone" plan, perhaps with the intention to maintain the core-four as far away as possible from the reporter. Right before, when trying to give consolation to Tara at the theater, the detective appears to comfort the Carpenter sister: "I wanted the monsters to be afraid of me". Perhaps she uses metaphors to describe Sydney and the Carpenters, which could also explain why she joined the FBI. She wanted to be stronger and at the same time stay in a position of power to help Richie and Bailey collect all the evidence and eventually build the shrine. This could match the theory that surrounds the internet, a ghostface cult responsible for the murders all angry at the movies. That's why I consider Kirby might be a killer, and possibly the director of the new trilogy, in this franchise.

Personally from this first half I actually prefer what we got in the original I like how it’s less wordy, one of my favorite parts in the entire franchise because of how suspenseful an too the point the game is here compared to the one in scream 1 , IMO Aron Krueger is a good writer in his own right & brought something special to scream 4, even know Kevin obviously did the heavy lifting with his original script.
The only horror knowledge that i want Sid to know is about stab. She says in scream 1 that she doesn't like horror movies and then in the third says that her favorite scary movie is her life (agreeing with future hubby) so it doesn't make sense to me that she would have any more than that? I do like having her more involved in the scene. And the overall frustration with Charlie is a good addition
in the first one when randy is picking the movie she says 'how come all of these have jamie lee curtis in them' so maybe she watched them before maureen died , also scre4m takes place 15 years after the first movie so sid probable acquired some knowledge of horror in the time frame

It does read well but I am not sure if the scene would have dragged with so much additional trivia not to mention if Kirby got no questions wrong and Charlie killed her than they betrayed their own rules and in this version it seems unlikely that Kirby could have survived!
There were no rules the killers had to follow. In a different draft for scream 3 the girls boyfriend follows the directions given to him in order to save the girl but she was already killed and then he dies too
Great story, I was hooked, but I have one complaint. Charlie calls Kirby a "cow"... that's an English insult, and a mild one at that. Not only is it too kind of a word for the context, but an American would never use it, nor would an American write it?? Confused.
I feel like Ehren Kruger did more damage to the Scream franchise than help it. I get that the Weinsteins kept interfering, but some of the dialogue he wrote in 3 and 4 is kind of trash. Kevin Williamson was way better at creating an atmosphere of fear and suspense that Ehren's writing lacked in the movies.

Kevin is better at writing these twists. Kruger doesn’t hit the mark in terms of big reveals. So far there’s a bit of Star Wars obi-wan thing happening here with Sid and Kirby which Scream 5 or 5ceam needed with Sid and Sam.
As much as ilove this version id be pissed when kirby stopoed with roman as the last stab killer as we know stab 7 was our & for me id want her to answer all the Qs which would be pointless. For that reason only im happy it didnt happen
In my opinion, the version you just read, yes I would have liked to have seen that on film because like the first screen movie back in '96 it was about horror trivia for the killer is really get you in the first movie and I want the scary movies to go back to that a little bit. And yes I do wish they would use that version because I remember in the trailer for scream 4 Kirby reading off all the reboot titles and the killer said none of the above. Eh. Sid had said for three films before this she didn’t watch horror movies. Her having this specific knowledge is a bit of a stretch. If there were other indicators along the way she was a secret horror fan it would be one thing.

As someone who considers themselves a Kirby, I didn't know Jason browning due to drowning wasn't cannon but theory as this script suggests.
I think that the Jason’s age question is genius, only a massive horror fan could got it right. I would have left that over the questions made about the weapons used by the killers. I guessed they shortened the final scene to give it a faster rhythm 🤷🏻♂️

I do really enjoy a longer match of wits in this draft - however with Sidney there longer, and the length of the scene, I feel in action it gives the audience too much time to figure out the other Ghostface is Jill. I would love to see this worked into a future scream entry with Kirby, though.

The horror trivia was best part; we got more horror questions from Ghostface and I feel this version would been a good subversion of the trope of everyone getting some the questions wrong with Ghostface😊
This version would've been great, and felt a bit like passing the torch to Kirby. Maybe that's why it was changed, they thought it was too obvious she lived? Or maybe it put more focus on her than they wanted then? Also, I think it was changed because having Sidney go upstairs to find Jill then made more sense, because she had a better idea of where Ghost Face was, and it allowed Kirby to shine more solo in that scene.
This version was so much better, in my opinion. The change in Charlie really comes across and I feel Kirby’s reaction to his reveal seems more shocking. It’s a shame it was changed.
While I like this scene, I would like to keep Kirby alive and I don't know if that is possible with that draft.

Sidney doesn't like horror films and stated that before, so her knowledge about horror films wouldn't make sense. Yeah, it's cool to see Sidney helping Kirby with the trivia, but the movie just felt right. In the script it made Sidney seem more afraid when she actually was more of a fighter. For example, the scene where she tried to save Olivia, she wouldn't afraid to run into the house where Olivia was getting killed.

From reading the original script I can genuinely imagine a way more grander film on the same level of cinematography and tension as Scream 1's Casey Becker opening. I always find Scream 4's scale and execution lacking compared to previous films, it looks cheap despite having the highest budget. Why is the Craven films' original script's quality so good and the studios (yes I know it's mainly the Weinsteins) had to interfere to reduce the quality, glad the franchise is in better hands now at Paramount, and clearly they give the new directors complete creative freedom and not on their backs and reduce the quality as a result.

I like the longer phone call, yes, but perfecting it would’ve included some of the changes we got. In this Sidney leaves Kirby outside while the killer is about, which is dumb af and too convenient. Blend them and have it so partway through the longer call Sidney sees that Kirby knows her shit and decides to go check on Jill then while they’re all ‘safe’ inside and the killer is accounted for with Charlie like in the film. Also I do think it was a lot more gut wrenching in the film when you see Charlie is conflicted about Kirby and it makes more sense that he subsequently kind of aborts the job and Kirby survives.

Well, Billy and Stu are Ghostface whether they're in Ghostface attire or not, and she was their first victim. Not only that, but they also made sure that all the other murders would connect back to her, thus making it all one thing.
They probably had no thought of continuing killing and putting on a costume at the time, but it's a technicality. She is, retroactively, the first Ghostface victim.

This version I think was way better. Having their trivia game as the catalyst for seeking Kirby makes her "death" way more gruesome and in my opinion well planned out. The version we got I almost thought it brought Charlie's character down. I get it he was upset that she ignored him all these years but to me that makes him weak and not really an intimidating ghostface. Also like BTM states having Sidney help Kirby with the triva proves Sid does know the genre she just chooses not to partake because it's pointless.
I do actually prefer the version we got. Charlie having clearly conflicting feelings made him far more interesting. He seemed attracted to Kirby the whole time, which had me wondering if Jill hadn’t deliberately reinforced the idea that those feelings would never be reciprocated. It would be true to a lot of real life criminal duos where the more submissive partner has feelings and doubts that the dominant partner has to deal with. It’s just a small touch that absolutely adds to both killers and it’s something we haven’t seen in any of the others.
This version feels more like he actually killed Kirby though rather than just severely injuring her. Maybe that’s why they scrapped it. Those last jabs could’ve been enough to assume she was done for.
scream 4 is my favourite of the franchise and I loved the scene we got between Charlie and Kirby as its so realistic. Charlie gives 'Columbine' vibes & is the perfect pathetic beta to balance out Jill's Alpha BDE

Has anybody thought of Kirby as the killer in Scream 7? Can anybody help me find more evidence? The killer in Scream 7, like the killer in Scream 3, should be the director of all the killings starting from Scream 5 (and could even be a part of it from Scream 4). When she and Bailey are discussing the countdown of the masks at the police station, she quotes the killer: "nobody cares about the movies". Giving similar vibes to from the ghostface who killed Jason (Tony Revolori) in the opening scene of the same movie. Moreover, Kirby is also the one who isolates Gale and pushes her away from the "tracking the phone" plan, perhaps with the intention to maintain the core-four as far away as possible from the reporter. Right before, when trying to give consolation to Tara at the theater, the detective appears to comfort the Carpenter sister: "I wanted the monsters to be afraid of me". Perhaps she uses metaphors to describe Sydney and the Carpenters, which could also explain why she joined the FBI. She wanted to be stronger and at the same time stay in a position of power to help Richie and Bailey collect all the evidence and eventually build the shrine. This could match the theory that surrounds the internet, a ghostface cult responsible for the murders all angry at the movies. That's why I consider Kirby might be a killer, and possibly the director of the new trilogy, in this franchise.
I like the version we got better. Scream 4 is perfect sequel. I don’t think there is anything wrong with the story(other then Trevor being boring)

Personally from this first half I actually prefer what we got in the original I like how it’s less wordy, one of my favorite parts in the entire franchise because of how suspenseful an too the point the game is here compared to the one in scream 1 , IMO Aron Krueger is a good writer in his own right & brought something special to scream 4, even know Kevin obviously did the heavy lifting with his original script.
The only horror knowledge that i want Sid to know is about stab. She says in scream 1 that she doesn't like horror movies and then in the third says that her favorite scary movie is her life (agreeing with future hubby) so it doesn't make sense to me that she would have any more than that? I do like having her more involved in the scene. And the overall frustration with Charlie is a good addition
in the first one when randy is picking the movie she says 'how come all of these have jamie lee curtis in them' so maybe she watched them before maureen died , also scre4m takes place 15 years after the first movie so sid probable acquired some knowledge of horror in the time frame

Yeah but in the first movie Sidney, when asked what her favorite scary movie is, replies “you know I don’t watch that shit”! So if they would have went with this version, it would have contradicted the original movie …. The continuity would have been ruined

There were no rules the killers had to follow. In a different draft for scream 3 the girls boyfriend follows the directions given to him in order to save the girl but she was already killed and then he dies too

Great story, I was hooked, but I have one complaint. Charlie calls Kirby a "cow"... that's an English insult, and a mild one at that. Not only is it too kind of a word for the context, but an American would never use it, nor would an American write it?? Confused.
When did she face off with Jill? Not too much of a difference in the scenes but I do like this one better

I feel like Ehren Kruger did more damage to the Scream franchise than help it. I get that the Weinsteins kept interfering, but some of the dialogue he wrote in 3 and 4 is kind of trash. Kevin Williamson was way better at creating an atmosphere of fear and suspense that Ehren's writing lacked in the movies.
Why in the hell we didn’t saw that on the big screen such a waste such a waste it’s sound soooooooooo much better than what we saw back then and this script is totally worth our money than waterd down version that we got , I’m quite sure that audience in the theater will be on the edge of their seats if this script made it to the screen I’m just feeling so angry in this moment with all respect but this is stupid stupid decision they made and again such a waste such a waste and such opportunity for this movie to be much much better . 😢

Kevin is better at writing these twists. Kruger doesn’t hit the mark in terms of big reveals. So far there’s a bit of Star Wars obi-wan thing happening here with Sid and Kirby which Scream 5 or 5ceam needed with Sid and Sam.
As much as ilove this version id be pissed when kirby stopoed with roman as the last stab killer as we know stab 7 was our & for me id want her to answer all the Qs which would be pointless. For that reason only im happy it didnt happen

In my opinion, the version you just read, yes I would have liked to have seen that on film because like the first screen movie back in '96 it was about horror trivia for the killer is really get you in the first movie and I want the scary movies to go back to that a little bit. And yes I do wish they would use that version because I remember in the trailer for scream 4 Kirby reading off all the reboot titles and the killer said none of the above. So that version makes more sense. I would have liked that because they were just been cool. Yeah your videos are awesome by the way. Keep going. Thank you! I look forward to a video every week
I definitely would have preferred this version over what we got and I don't think Charlie had any remorse in the version we got. He was just going through the motions. Jill was his Mandy Lane.
Eh. Sid had said for three films before this she didn’t watch horror movies. Her having this specific knowledge is a bit of a stretch. If there were other indicators along the way she was a secret horror fan it would be one thing.
It was a lot more suspenseful and Kirby definitely died there.
