    How many points did it cost?

    • @mattsmoments2
      @mattsmoments2  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      80k points + $800+ in fees. Very steep on the fees. Points wise it’s a solid deal. Especially if/when AMEX and others have transfer bonuses.

      From what I have heard First Class goes for around $ 12,000.00 one way.

    • @mattsmoments2
      @mattsmoments2  ปีที่แล้ว

      You’re correct about that. On the high end it’s near that price. That’s why saving up your points and going off season is a great experience and deal.

    Thank you, sir. It was refreshing to watch an actual adult giving a factual perspective of the experience, without the need to include unwilling participants. No claims of emotional trauma from the flight or lounges, no trashing or even comparisons. Again, thank you.

    My wife and I just flew on BA in FC from DFW to Dubai and back via London. A380 FC seats are so much more comfortable than their B777 FC seats. A lot more room and a whole lot more private. We always dine together when in FC and on 777 it was a tight squeeze, but in A380 it was a lounge like experience. My only small gripe about the A380 is that the actual plane windows are quite far making it a challenge to take good pictures of the outside views. I'm glad you liked the experience and for all the bad reviews BA gets, we've never had a bad flight in their FC cabin... now AA is a whole different story, we avoid them like a plague.

    • @mattsmoments2
      @mattsmoments2  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't experienced international first for AA yet. Hoping for the best. As for the windows I agree.

    Great report.
    Suggestion. With menus hold the camera steady for about 3 secs
    without panning. If the menu is long, do two shots.
    Either run the footage, or do a freeze frame. Much easier for the viewer to pause and read the menu.
    With panning and trying to pause, you often lose part of the menu or the top part is blurred.

    Thanks for your video, I really enjoyed it. My wife and I just flew BA First from LHR to DFW, I sat in 2A like you. Two things I'd always wanted to do, the Concorde Room in Heathrow and flying on an A380. BA First gets a lot of ribbing, I thought it was excellent too, I do think you have to ask in order to get something unlike ANA First for example (incredible by the way). I also just asked and walked all over the aircraft, it is a city! I made one big mistake, we were changing in DFW and flying on to PHX, we could have had the First Dining in DFW like you did, now I'll have to try and do it all again lol. My ticket was 85K AA points and $700 in fees.

    Matt! Thnx for that video plus your honesty. Seems to me that you are a real decent guy. And that is so wonderful.
    Next: I could read some comments on your clothes that you did wear in First class.
    See, my husband and me we always "dress up". I love VERSACE silk shirts and lacquer shoes for me when Justin and Claus travel in First class. That is OUR WAY TO TRAVEL. Now listen, I would never ever judge somebody on ...how she/he is dressed. That is so intimate. That is so delicate. Like this kid who was upgraded to First on Lufthansa dressed in sports gear. Me in Versace silk and him...the champagne was flowing and flowing and we three guys had such a funny time on board.
    So, it is always the soul and the spirit that counts and not a t-shirt, stuff like that!. Justin and me we are not born with a golden social ladder. We are working hard and from time to time we "break out".
    Inflight service was nice. No other U.S. carrier could offer you food like this. Plus no U.S. carrier offers a first class cabin anymore!

      You can't compare First Class in a noisy 747 or 777 with First Class in a super quiet and comfy A380. The A380 makes the difference , in all classes. And First Class in a BA A380 offers more privacy than Qatar First Class in a A380. By the way, BA will upgrade First and Business class to new seats in all its A380s.

    BA can deliver a decent experience BUT frequently do not and if ANYTHING goes wrong, their backup and support is worse than SouthWest! (they also have major IT failures more frequently , which effect customers in ALL classes),
    I'm a British frequent flyer (70 sectors annually across 4 continents) and actively avoid BA when I can, they're that bad! When the likes of Air Astans (Kazakhstan), Indigo (Indian locost) and others provide a more reliable service that more accurately resembles their marketing then you know something is seriously wrong inside BA... Which isn't actually British but the UK brand of a Madrid registered multinational that simply harvests cash from inherited brand and slot dominance in the UK. As above, they CAN deliver a good service but in my experience as much as 50% of the time it's worse than a lo cost.

    Very good and detailed review, from Your side. Very clean flight from ba side. But overall 1st class on ba that too on A380 is a very substandard product. when you see ME3 ( Qatar, Emirates, Etihad) and SIA ( singapore) - these 4 carriers Business class - You will have a better product than this. Emirates Biz > ba first. Qatar Q Suites >>> ba first. Etihad First >>>> ba first. SIA first >>>> ba first. ANA, JAL biz is even better than this ba first. This is a very substandard product for a First class. No sliding doors, no USB C, WIreless Charging, no Bluetooth connection to monitor - ( I understand that technology changes very fast, but to change a hard product, its going to cost airlines a lot of money and with pandemic and A380 out of production, it will not be good on my part to expect more. But ME3, JAL, ANA, got their planes around the same time as this ba A380. But their hard product is better. Soft Product on ba is a very hit and miss as sometimes the planes are filthy and mainly the food selection is very substandard. But this is my own opinion. I am not giving a universal statement here. But from where I am, my home airport, DFW, ba is the only carrier flying A380.

    It is a sign of the times that such a scruff has such a low self-respect, and no respect for others, that he thinks it's appropriate to fly first class looking like the cheapest of tourists heading for Benidorm.
    I have flown many times in BA first class but I have never seen such a poorly dressed individual among my fellow passengers.

      OMG what a snooty fart you are. Do you wear a tie on the toilet? I am financially well off, and fly long haul in F only. be it SQ, EK or CX, I wear what I wear 365 days a year, as I live in the tropics of South East Asia, which is shorts, a T shirt and sandals. Being an Platinum, and Paragon, the captain comes and says hello, advises me personally of the flight time and any possible turbulance, this after the purser has accompanied me to my seat. They don't give a damn what I wear, they just recognize I am a very frequent travelr with their airline and appreciate it.
      Stop being so damn uptight, in truth it is none of you f***ng business what people wear. Enjoy your next flight in your 007 dinner jacket
