- I've never flown upper class before and after a few surreal days filming James May in California, it was time to see if flying in the posh seats is as incredible as everyone says.
Check out the content we shot in California: • James May's California...

The James May heckles are priceless
4:57 “you said make sure you got the Hollywood sign in focus, so i did” 😭😭😂😂😂
Lucy Brown and James May are the best at what they do. Making the best videos for us to watch. Thank You. You guys just work so well together.
also he seems to be really cool to work with or for.
@@Thisandthat8908 The make a great team.
Yep, I'd love to spend a filming day with them...
@@mbirth He takes the P out of her and I think he really likes her. An uncle / Niece relationship.

Amazon needs to greenlight the James and Lucy Show! Its adorable and hilarious.
Of course I'm a HUGE James fan but I'm also a big fan of you Lucy. I do enjoy it when James gets you to smile & laugh with a bit of goofiness'. There is no need to be shy, your a natural.
I’m just here for the dead pan delivery. British in every way.
james is spot on, vloging is just filming yourself pointing out the obvious
'here am i commenting on Lucy's vlog, maybe she'll see my comment, maybe she won't'
Nice to see Lucy finally reaping the rewards of being around James all these years
"I look horrendous, i've no idea how people wake up from a rough sleep and look amazing" Lucy said, looking amazing herself lol.
Slightly creepy.
@samuelgarrod8327 yup
@@samuelgarrod8327 I get where you're coming from and thought to not say it, but here's my thought process - if I were in the position of being in a video and a random internet stranger said that I look amazing, I'd be chuffed. So I figure awkward as it may be, I try not to rob someone of a compliment. Whether it's received well or not, I cant control. I know I meant well by it so I don't mind either way.
@@samuelgarrod8327slightly insecure.
I thought the same.
I had a similar experience. My former employer (I retired) flew me from San Francisco to Zurich via Swissair business class. It's the only time in my life when I was treated like royalty (or maybe a rock star). Nonstop wine, excellent food, a roomy and comfy seat that turned into a bed, slippers for those trips to the blue water, etc. A memorable experience!
There was a time when even in economy you'd be treated like royalty with wine flowing. I flew long haul in the early 80s Qantas and BA too and the food and service was like night and day compared to today. Metal cutlery and solid bowls was normal. You paid significantly more mind you back then for all the 3 classes and the first class was very different to the upper class or first class now. The A380 and the 747 still offer business and first class experiences like they were years ago, depending on of the airline. Like to try James's gin at some point but tbh I haven't seem it here in Australia.
I love the interaction between you and James - just so genuine and amusing. Neat look at Upper Class, and interesting to hear your impression of the value. This is one of the aspects of your videos that I really enjoy; the honest impression of services, places and such. Thanks for sharing as usual - look forward to your next work!
James is always an old fashion gentleman. Lucy has changed a lot being with James, she is a lot more confident infront of camera. Very good business couble!
Two bores together.
Enjoying watching Lucy progress thru her career.
The camaraderie between James and Lucy is always endearing as well as entertaining!
'Camera'derie😂
Lucy Brown is a GTA fan. Loving this girl more and more 👍
My god Lucy, I just watched your video of first presenting with JM in the kitchen from like 3 years ago. To see the wild improvements in yourself in regards to your confidence, natural charisma and in your comfort doing pieces to camera...Well all I can say is well done my dear, you are doing an outstanding job and it has been wonderful to see you grow in the way you have. The banter between you and JM has also become heartwarming to witness. I hope you feel as proud of yourself as we all do as you are doing remarkably well! Congratulations and long may it continue 🎉
I think what James wants most from the expensive tickets is a chance to sleep. Good sleep can be a life saver, and James is experienced enough to know it. Great opportunity for you to experience it though, we're all happy James sprung for the upgrade after a hard job done well. Love your work!
Great vlog :) I like the dialogue with James May. Thank you for sharing the honest opinion about upper class, it is not always shared among travel vloggers.
I love the the chemistry you two have. And its better for James to be Infront of the camera 😅
Thank you for the video, it was a pleasure to watch.
I clicked because I'm a fan of James but I watched the entire thing because it was really entertaining.
Your interactions with James are always hilarious and the production was stellar (better than many of them proper influencers).
Lucy laughing equally priceless
You two are absolutely hilarious. You've come a long way Lucy, keep up the good work!
You two are great together. You work so great together 💪
Love how James is making fun with Lucy that she is famous now 😊
One week with James May, You deserve a nice flight home! Great work Lucy, love the chanel.
I got to say ‘hi’ to you and James at the San Diego event (sipping some Asian Parsnip as I type…), and just wanted to thank you all for coming out and spending the time in CA!
Lucy Brown content somehow related to James May? I'm there.
PS: Awesome editing of that entire California series. Brilliantly timed and loved the toss ins. Also the side shots helped give context that a full crew really isn't needed. No clue that quality was from a handheld. Parts felt like TG honestly.
I love the relationship between Lucy and James. And he torments her just as much as I do my own daughter! It just makes me laugh every time.
You really are new to business class. 😂 I love the amazement at everything.
Lucy you’re doing an amazing job, keep up the good work
James is always a old fashion gentleman, and Lucy is a new generation young person. Lucy has changed a lot being with James, she is a lot more confident infront of camera. Very good business couble, so much fun!
Lucy vlog w/ james May in the mix is always a joyable watch
There's some cute Father - Daughter vibes going on here!
Reminds me a ton of when my uncle was living. We had a blast.
Mr May and his partner don't have children of their own. (don't think they've ever spoken about it publicly)
So like you I'm getting strong "surrogate daughter" or "cool uncle James" vibes 😂😂
Guessing thats what you search for on certain prawn websites too
@@UNICORN69HO Don't you? You're missing out.
Your relationship with James May is a joy. lol
One of the few channels that i turn on notifications, Lucy and James are great
You two work so well together, like a Dad & his teenage daughter 🥰 You won't be able to downgrade to cattle class now 😅
I think that's what the mumbles were about... maybe there really are two ways into the plane
James may vlogging is hilarious
It's like a dad who had no idea how vlogging works.
You two are excellent! Thank you for making me smile 🙂
This duo is surprising! Didn't think i needed this duo in my life!
Miss Lucy, thank you for doing this video and all the effort put in it. Glad you did it!🙏🏻🎧
lucy brown is the daughter James may never had
I just said that to myself
Are we sure he never had?
I'm only seeing the contrary.
I think Lucy's parents may disagree... But adoption paperwork is often deeply hidden... 🤔🤫 🤣👍
Good start to the day when you wake up and watch a Lucy Brown video.
These little moments of yours on youtube are awesome.
I hope you enjoy making them as much as we enjoy watching them.
May (no pun intended on todays sponsor) there be many, many more to come. :)
Ohhh, dangerous precedent set there Lucy, once you've flown upper class/business class or 1st class, you'll find it very hard to drop back into economy/coach.
Great post, love the synergy between you and Mr May.
Loved the whole vibe... And I've never been upper class either so now I know what it's like... Thank you Lucy.. and I guess James too... LOL.. He did pay pafter all... You two have a great dinamic together... Looks like you have fun whatever you are doing... See you next time..!!
You two work well together, love your work Lucy. 🙂
This video popped up in my feed and I'm so glad it did. Beautifully shot and edited, with added May. It's good to know James May is just as droll in real life as he is on TV. I think you were unlucky with the food in Upper Class, but I agree it's not worth paying your own money for.
I subscribed, and I'm looking forward to catching up with your other videos.
And in stark contrast to the little fellow's travel show on the cheap. James, your new mission in life is to get Lucy to laugh.
Finally new video after so long. Love Lucy and James
Richard sends Lucy in a duffle bag more or less. James, as you can see, has done it properly.
Great video, loved the interaction between you and James, looking forward to more of your travels.
You both are magic. (Autocorrect would have put manic)
I love your editing. Your content is warm and inviting. I love you both.
Thank you for taking care of him while you two where here. Fantastic
13:41 it always amazes me that you get real knifes in first class. Like „nah the terrorists will never book a first class flight, we can give everyone a knife there“
Love your videos Lucy! Keep pushing James to make more.
Lucy is the best. I can listen to her all day.
always love to see your face Lucy, you looked fine on the plane. Thank you for back stage views!
Lucy, I have to say y'all two seem to have a very fun relationship. Enjoy and remember this time in your life young lady!
I like the father/daughter-esque banter between the two of them.
I Was Expecting James to Say "When i Was Young, You Could Fly to America in 3 And Half Hours With The Concorde!"
James may would say "when i was young i sailed months to America on the Santa Maria"
Loved this guys. Thank you. Good luck with the gin. You deserve it to go well, great set of vids (ONE OF THOSE SMILEY FACE THINGS)
i love the chemistry between both of you and i also noticed you smile alot. loved this vlog alot
Awesome vid as always, Lucy.
Lucy is Upper Class! 👍😎
I’m here for Lucy updates 😂
Great to see you back!
Always knew May is a good dude. He takes care of his people.
I love seeing the backstage view to this media empire of yours! So awesome! Thanks for sharing!
A delicate blend of dry old humour with young dry humour- brilliant!
I've been LOL , because both of you are just so funny with the off the cuff humor.
Thanks for making my day guy's
James is an exceptional photographer and cameraman
Loving the content Lucy, amazing.
My Wife at I flew first class from MSP to Vancouver with our 3 month old baby. We flew first class and it was a blessing. It was 3X the price of economy, but we had real seats, and the console between our seats was big enough for Baby to lay there. It was not until we got home, when Wifey said thank you to me for taking us first class. Free Bubbly, real cutlery, and decent meal, and the hot towels jut before we landed was the icing on the cake. Baby only fussed a bit. As long as there was food and was burped, Baby was happy.
Children should be in the cargo hold.
@@MattyEngland Is that how you transport them?
@@bradyelich2745 I don't have kids, but if I paid $4000 for a first class ticket, I wouldn't want to be sat next to a screaming child for 8 hours
@@MattyEngland Also u don't have the cash to fly first class. Sad.
@@MattyEngland Is that how you transport them?
Keep up the great work Lucy! You deserve to be in front of/and behind cameras!
I knew those cornflakes were going to be soggy!
I was willing you to notice the cornflakes and eat them before the pancakes. Given your disappointment with the pancakes, it would have been the better way around.
Great to see more of you and James. I thoroughly enjoy your adventures.
As for the photo James took by the Hollywood sign - when I take photos of people, I let them view them and offer to take more if they don't like them. Lucy, you need to check every photo James takes of you - it's the safest option 😉
The food looked amazing, all of it. And that dessert looks amazing. Those little pancakes are just beautiful. And that Dessert! Sad that it doesn't mouth very well!
Thanks James for employing the special
Hi Lucy! Again it is nice to see your smiling face!! James really knows how to make you laugh and that made me laugh ! The video was real... not Hollywood style . which is what i like about your videos in the first place. Cheers!!
Good series. Glad you had fun in our sunny little town.
7:08 It's great that James hasn't lost his schoolboy humor.. Coming up next "Lucy, why are you hitting yourself?" ;-)
Good for you, Lucy! Enjoy your travels with a camera - it's the best way to see the world!
So thoughtful of James May to fly his daughter in upper class
Last time I was on a transatlantic flight I was behind two 2yr old twins who started bawling soon after take off. then one of them threw up and the other followed (I passed on the chicken curry offered for the evening meal soon after)., so even if it wasn't 1st Class like bossman. at least you wouldn't have put up with screaming bairns in Upper Class.
BTW, huge respect for an introvert like yourself for doing TH-cam. That takes real bravery.
I'm glad to say that I received my bottle of James Gin. Have not tried it yet. Hope you had a good flight.
Yes Lucy you did look exhausted! What an interesting window into another world. Certainly appreciated a plebian perspective
Didn't have a great day, but a new Lucy Vlog means it ends on a high.
Thanks for bringing us along
Watching this straight after watching James and Richard getting hammered on gin at James' pub. Been fans of the guys forever. These new films are priceless - great chemistry between James and Lucy. Simply brilliant entertainment.
I agree Lucy, I've flown Signature Class on Air Canada and Premium Economy, (Signature is the same as Upper Class) Signature was good but not worth it imo Premium Economy was worth it for the price.
James' vlogging style is amazing
I hope you all enjoyed California, great place to visit.
Lucy. You looked great when you woke up.
Glad you enjoyed the trip out there, it looked like fun. 😀👍
Really cool video. Loved it!
love you got to have that experience. it doesnt matter how comfortable my seat, i never sleep on a plane, so 4 hours is amazing.
Ok Lucy. Props. I've just seen you behind the camera on James's channel, but this video convinced me to sub to yours. You kinda channeled how most of us "normies" feel when exposed to these new experiences. Here for it mate.
Imagine casually running into Lucy Brown and James May!
Great vid as always :D
last month flew upper class from Heathrow to Boston, and VA really know how to do it. Also dear god, when I was in LA earlier this year i was absolutely doing the whole "yep, that's in GTA5" and "oh god i remember this mission!"
My only experience flying in a first class seat, I didn't pay for. I was coming back from a deployment. The flight there I was in an economy seat on a 777. It was a flight from Louisiana to Ohio, from there to Germany, a stop in Kuwait, and finally Qatar. I slept terribly, which I don't usually sleep well on flights, and the food was ok. The flight back I got a first class seat on a 747 with a bed. Food was still about the same, but I was actually able to sleep. It was also a little more direct of a flight. From Qatar to Germany and then back to Louisiana. But I actually got home well rested when we landed around 6 am and I was able to function all day and stayed up until about 10pm that day. The flight out to Qatar, we'd spent about 10 hours waiting around to leave, from 4am until about 2pm Saturday and it was about 2am Monday by the time I got to my room in Qatar, so quite a long bit of travel.
Always love your vlogs!
That was really cool and interesting. Thanks for sharing. I always found premium economy or business class to be that sweet spot for price vs. accommodations.
good for you! you guys make a great team
