    Did you consider using an IR Led & Sensor module to detect a hand wave? in stead of the Ultrasonic? EG something like

    • @JustBarran
      @JustBarran  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zeyad Sadek hey, this comment means so much and I really appreciate it. That’s the same problem I have with other TH-cam videos. Not explaining the struggles 😂. I used a 9v battery originally and it worked with the soap dispenser but I was using the voltage regulator on the uno to power the servo with 5v which was enough for the soap dispenser but not for the hand sanitizer. It required alittle but more force. The servo is rated at 9g and 6v so what I had to do was power the servo straight from the battery (I using a 2s lipo here) and it worked great. Once you give it enough juice the servo does the job. You can get packs of these online.

    Cool bruh... I want to try it... But how if i use motor servo without using battery (external power) and i just use USB power? Would it be strong enough to pull the wire on hand sanitizer ?

    • @JustBarran
      @JustBarran  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So this was a problem I had with this design. The 5v usb was not proving enough current for the motor to pull down the hand sanitizer. To get the full toque from the 9g servo you need to provide it with 6v. You can try a bigger servo at 5v and it may work but it depends on torque.

    • @JustBarran
      @JustBarran  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, might have to check the ultrasound sensor, it might be trowing a error at the start cause in the problem, you can add a small delay in the setup of the code to help this.

    Dude, my servo couldnt pull the wire, why was that? Is it the bottle problem? Or is there any coding that make the servo stronger?

    • @JustBarran
      @JustBarran  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are using a micro servo, it has a Torque that varies depending on the voltage between 4 and 6 volts where you can really get the full 9g @ 6volts. It can also pull more than 200mha. If you are using 5volts off the Arduino regulator it might not be giving you enough power. I had that problem first. My suggestion is try powering the servo from a separate power/regulator. Make sure and tie the grounds. You can check out my newest video for an updated circuit diagram. th-cam.com/video/WBzBj73NXb8/w-d-xo.html. If that doesn’t work then your dispenser (bottle) might be too much for the servo to handle and you may need a bigger servo or a gear system to give you more torque. Hope this helps.

    • @JustBarran
      @JustBarran  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You could have a bad sensor, the serial monitor lags because the pulse in time use calculate the distance is timing out. This usually happens if the distance is less than 4cm or greater than 3meters. So I suspect is that. What you can do is www.arduino.cc/reference/en/language/functions/advanced-io/pulsein/ is lower the pulsein timeout or try another sensors. You can’t check and make sure the servo is geting enough current. I had to connect it directly to the battery th-cam.com/video/WBzBj73NXb8/w-d-xo.html check v2 out

    • @JustBarran

      That depends on which IR sensor, if its a serial Ir sensor may have to decode/use a library to get the distance. If its a simple line break IR sensor, it may be a simple (digitalread(IR pin)==LOW) to trigger the servo. Hope this helps. Hi, does the voltage determine how much a servo can turn? If so does that mean a 9V would have it turn more? I tried making this project but only a small amount of the hand sanitizer was coming out. PS thanks for the video.💥💥

    • @JustBarran
      @JustBarran  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Voltage determined how much torque can be applied. How much it can turn is determined by the manufacturer and the position feedback mechanism inside of the servo. There are 90 degrees, 180 degrees(typical), 270 degrees and 360 degrees servos. Also different hand sanitizers require more force to pull it down (sadly) as well as how thick the sanitizer is. If you using 9v I Suggest stepping it down to 6v with atlease 200mA that should give it enough torque if not you might need a bigger servo. Also make sure the string mechanisms moves smoothly on top of the dispenser. Any resistance would make the servos work that much harder. Hope this helps and let me know if you get it to work 🙌🏽👌🏾
