Due to the variations in the types of relays and sensors available, you might find that the system responds in a manner that is opposite to what is desire. For example, if the motor stops when you place your hand and starts when you remove it, it probably means that either the proximity sensor is active low instead of high, or the relay is trigger low instead of high. For either of these scenarios, the fix is simple. Just swap the usage of NC and NO pins. So if you are using NO pin as instructed by the video, move it to the NC pin and vice versa. The COM pin must remain unchanged.
If the motor does not stop regardless of whether a hand is present in front of the sensor or not, check the calibration of the proximity sensor potentiometer. Ensure that the output of the proximity sensor changes when a hand is brought near it and taken away and that the relay switches on giving high and low input. Malfunction of any of these two components may result in the motor either not starting up or not stopping.

You made a mistake in connecting the pump to relay, you connected it to NC then pump stops only when we show our hands to ir sensor. I know you realized it and changed it to NO but why don't you mention it in the video?

Thank you for bringing this to our notice. There is a minor connection correction performed in the video. However the lable on screen at 6:05 indicates the correct connnections to be made which should be followed.
Can the IR sensor handel 12v 500ma voltage constant from an adaptor? I wonder because the load is low.
Hi,
The adapter being used in the video is a 5v 1A adapter. A 12v adapter will not work since the IR module requires 5v VCC.
What changes will I have to make if I want to add a solenoid (SV) please tell
It depends on the solenoid pinout. If the solenoid can be triggered using a 5V signal, then the same circuit can be used and the relay can be replaced with solenoid
This video really helps, thanks! I made this but whenever I try to put the battery, it automatically starts pumping; however after that it functions normally. Can you tell me what the problem is?

Is it okay to use 6v adapter but the single jumper delay module is 5v?
It is not recommended to use a source voltage higher than the component's voltage rating as it might end up damaging the device

You can, but ensure all your other components are also rated for 12V

Regualr 5V 1A adaptor will work. Yes, most phone chargers will work, but do note that you will need to cut the wires

Hi,
If you wish to use a switch as a master override to turn the dispenser off, you can add it between the VCC (red wire) from the adapter and the VCC junction that goes to the motor and sensor.

Using Arduino depends on your requirement and budget. This dispenser can be made without using Arduino as demonstrated in this video. However, if you wish to modify the system to include more sensors, LED's or any other peripheral which requires a microcontroller, then you could use an Arduino since its a low-cost microcontroller.
How did u open up the middle of the wire?
You can use a wire stripper or wire cutter to strip out the insulation
With out motor relay is working on and off but if connet motor close the sensor not off if remove hand why bro
Hello,
There might be some issue with the connection. The positive pin of motor or pump is connected with the NO pin of the Relay and the negative pin of the motor or pump is connected with the negative pin of the DC jack.
Sir please explain how the adaptor is connected in the end...my project is incomplete...help me out please
The adapter is connected to the jack splitter. GND is taken as common and the VCC is passed through the relay to control on/off.

The issue can vary from relay module not working to connections being incorrect. We will need more information to help you out better

Please check the second last paragraoh in the video description. If the system is behaving differently, the steps given in the description may help you.
How do u get active high output on IR module? All Chinese modules have active low o/p. They give high when no obstacle and low when detected obstacle. Something is wrong or missing!
Hi,
The sensor that ships with the kit is active high, hence it can be used in the configuration as shown. If you happen to have an active low sensor, you could work around this issue by connecting your pump to the NC pin of the relay.
One more thing. Relay has arcing issue which can be very dangerous in case of alcohol based sanitizer. It can trigger an explosion.

To clarify the circuit once, this setup requires 4 sets of connections. These are as follow:
1. VCC from adapter -> VCC of relay module, VCC of proximity sensor and NO (normally open) pin of relay
2. GND from adapter -> GND of relay module, GND of proximity sensor and GND of pump motor
3. Output of proximity sensor -> input of relay module
4. Positive terminal of pump motor -> COM pin of relay module

@@helalali6555 Since there is the addition of Arduino to the existing components in the kit, it will not be cheaper to use Arduino, however, if your application has additional requirements such as use of more sensors, LEDs, actuators etc. then it would be advisable to use an Arduino since it is easier to control those using a microcontroller

It automatically cuts the circuit off using relay when the hand is not in front of the proximity sensor
Can i connect 9volt battery
Yes! As long as all your parts work with 9V safely (the motor, relay, IR module). You should be good to go. Otherwise you will need a way to step down 9V to 5V using buck modules
Can I use 9V battery instead of DC connector
Hi Prabhat,
The adapter and relay used are 5 volts, hence a 9v battery cannot be used. You may howver use a voltage regulator to step down the 9v to 5v. A circuit built using the 7805 voltage regulator may help you.

Hi, have you tuned the IR sensor, it has a small potentiometer on top that can be used for tuning , ensure that it turn on only when you get your hand close to it

If the sensor have a diode(LED) on the module then you can directly check its working just by giving power supply and checking if the LED status changes according to your requirements.

Yes, a phone charger can be used as a power supply if it meets the required rating of 5V 1A. However, exercise extreme caution while making connections so as to not cause any damage to the phone charger.

Can we use ultrasonic sensor In the place of IR sensor
You can use ultrasonic sensor if you have a controller such as the Arduino. Without controller, it is not really possible as the a microcontroller is required to calculate the distance between pulses emitted by the sensor itself

The relay is to control the power to the pump. We need the pump to turn on and off based on the output of the proximity sensor. The output of the proximity sensor is connected to the input of the relay. The output of the proximity sensor in itself is insufficient to drive the pump.

Motor pump not work
Hi,
Please try powering your pump motor directly to see if it is faulty or not. If the motor powers on when conected to supply directly, there may be a problem with your connections.

you do know that sanitizer is flammable, right?
The sanitiser itself is not in contact with any of the electrical components apart from the pump - which is designed to be submersible.
@@Robocraze yes, they do. That kind of diaphragm pump is notorious for being leaks. Once it does, it can cause somebody their life.
