Vapors is too unsafe on block for how little damage it does with Scorp or Goro
I think his invisibility should be buffed he should be able to go into it in the middle of combos and continue his offense honestly that would fix a lot of his problems besides I don't understand why he has to use resources to go invisible but loses his turn up close
Yeah I think these are all super reasonable buffs. The back dash cancel makes perfect sense and fits with the other rushdown characters that have cancel pressure, the kara cancel throw off f3 is fine as long as it can be os’d, and yeah vapors needs a buff. Also, to be in line with Rain, they could make at least one of his cancels like +1 or something so Smoke’s pressure can be enforced with d1

It just would give another option to open people up and make them more scared to try and up block. And I agree about VV. They kinda did that in the patch yesterday. EX cancels are now +5 more frames. Only issue is all his cancels can still be mashed out of, except 212. But spending a bar just to get that situation off 1 string doesn't do much. Especially since you can just react to that string, and just hold block until they do a different string. If they spend meter, then you just stayed blocking and the most they get is a throw or one more normal to pressure with, which you can then mash after if it isn't 212. Not to mention 212 has giant holes lmao
i feeel like adding new moves to him would go a long way. Give him the vapor back dash like you said, and also i think use his dagger more and give him a full screen fast dagger throw that acts like Jades projectile. Where it will go through then return to you, but you are not able to move untile the knife comes back, it is super fast but still like if they jump it or teleport your stuck in the animation and will get jacked up. I think all your three suggestions are also really good, i love love the ability to go into a grab like rain. I think that would be amazing.

Smoke only works if he is invisible, if you know how to counter it then he because a little useless as he now will relay on grabs to AT LEAST open the opponent up and even by doing so you are at risk of, well, dying. I really like smoke, but the fact that he only works while being invisible makes him a little pointless in a roster that can do way more even without thinking, I really hope he gets something in the future, besides I really like his costumes but not that OG mask he has, that looks like a bad hazard mask 😂
You could argue that he has a lot of mix ups and such, but in reality is more like intimidation than anything else really, because even if you special cancel one of his strings into the vapors or the bomb or the low teleport, those are very reactable, insanely even as if you dare to try and the opponent knows, you will die. The only way it could work is only by spamming the bomb to turn invisible, if they hit you then yeah they eat a whopping 9% :D (which is pathetic), and if they ignored, now you can somewhat use your "mix ups" unless the opponent notice and then you die :)

I completely i agree with this video as a smoke main , here are smoke buffs i would consider 1-make it that if he spends a bar on his cancel his pressure becomes real , ermac has that why doesn’t smoke? 2-make his F3 -2 on block because that’s probably one of his best staggers and it’s -5 on block 3-his only whiff punishing tool B2 is insanely slow and can’t punish most pokes or it can be interrupted during the opponent’s whiff , how i would fix this is either make it invulnerable or a little bit faster 4-Fix his armor 5-i would make BF3 EX much faster like 7 frame start up since li mei has something similar , i would give it to smoke 6-since his pressure is fake , I would give him a projectile There are probably more buffs but i think these are the ones he needs

Ermac is also +5 after EX cancel but his normal cancels were already better than Smoke so it works for him lmao. Smoke needs more than he got 2 - F3 being actually staggerable would be amazing 3 - agreed. I'm cool with the speed if it would just crush pokes like it looks like it should. Sucks getting smacked outta the air by down 3s lmfao 4 - I'm fine with him having a mediocre armor move because I want his rushdown to be better, but it doesnt feel right to have your armor triggered on accident, and they still have enough time to just block and punish lmao. Or when it gets triggered and you just whiff somehow 5 - 7 frame startup EX VV would be fantastic. I also think it should just be a launcher when EXed. If I do F3 and think my opponent is gonna mash after the cancel to stop me doing anything, I should be able to do EX VV and counterhit their poke, causing them to crumple (like after Scorp kameos overhead) and then combo them 6 - a projectile could also be cool. I think he should have another version of shadow blade where he throws it horizontally. If it hits, it yanks them in front of you like the normal version. If you EX it, it yanks them toward you but in the air, letting you juggle after. Or you could make it his actual Smoke ball. Make it a mid tracking projectile that if it hits, teleports them in front, and if you EX it just teleports them above you and you can act soon enough to juggle from it. Any of those would be sick lmao There are definitely more buffs we could come up with lmao. For starters, he has no use for F12 grab + back, or J211, or the full B234 string. And F324 is also almost totally useless. Would be neat if any of those had a purpose lol

Would be fine with it being slow if it at least tracked better and our offense got improved. But having holes in all our offense, bad mobility, slow anti zoning and shitty defensive options feels terrible lmao

Most his moves where he actually uses his powers aren't used, like the full B2 string, the last hit of 212, and then he only has 4 specials, and 3 that use his smoke ability

It might be not obvious but I as a smoke main since the launch would make that goddamn roll special cancelable - b23 into VV (or kameo) on block. IT'S ULTIMATELY ANNOYING WITH 200 PING when the damn game doesn't register your cancel. The fact that you are basically dead just by your opponent blocking it with no option at all is just BS. You can VV f1224 any time, smoke bomb or whatever, but b23 is just a damn disaster. I understand at least if they react to b2 with an upblock - thats honorable, but just a simple block on b23 with further humiliation on this hardass character is too much. b23 is the absolute garbage right now. The rest is not even close. If anyone wonders this is from a Smoke+Scorp main, always liked the challange. Changes to the b23!!!

Smoke needs quality of he has so many ways to enforce low only one way to enforce over head so make the second hit of 212 an overhead so u can't blindly fuzzy block it all and u have to read or react make the smoke port cancel neutral as it stands the punish for the cancel is the same as a teleport let him vapor away and lastly make it so smokes back 2 can't be neutral jumped if u can't jump ashrahs overhead or Johnny's forward 4 then smoke shouldn't be screwed the same way
Also lol just thought of this, do you think it would be too much but check this. What if you could cancel his smoke ball teleport attack thing. The one where he throws it in the air and then ports over to ya. What if you could cancel it after a couple frames once its in the air, and choose when to drop out of it and not attack and just in a way cancel the move but your still traveled some-type of distance. smoke is the worst "pressure" character in the game. hard execution on cancels that will only lead to you getting poked or armored on, no mid, death on f32, poke on f3 cancel, incredibly reactable 28f overhead, 30f triple high to get some plus frames, terrible armor etc...there is literally no reason to pick him over johnny, ermac or anyone else after they all get buffed and he stays down at the bottom. the only way to currently play him is to spend all your sektor kameo and bar just to be invisible as often as possible. I hate this playstyle so I've always scorpion kameo to make bf3 into a full combo, but it's still an extremely risky 50/50. and now that kameo is just a worse version of sonya pretty much
i feel like he's just a noob killer character. casuals hate him because they're bad at the game. and comp player don't use him so they dont care to call for his buffs
Smoke v sindel us a perfect example. U can't really do anything to a good or even a van sindel that knows about her armoured move. U try two hits on her she armouring out full punish.

Probably an unpopular opinion but as a more casual player who will never be able to compete at the highest level, I'd mainly want them to rework his Vapor cancels. I don't understand why they would make such a weird mechanic to be a major part of Smokes BnB combos. And to make it even worse, they make the cancel have different timings, work worse online and if you fail the cancel you get punished with a full combo. It just such stupid, unenjoyable game design and it's not worth the effort to master it.
I say this back in the day when he was "top tier" in the eyes of almost 90% of the community, i say that he was not that good and he needs some buffs actually like he should be plus on movement to backdash or jump.. That was enough to have like 30 comments with Ppl calling me crazy,stupd,skill issued,everything u could imagine 😂 playing with him online and having ppl on the mic saying everything to me only because i went invisible 😂

@@x0nix honestly his damage isn't that great. He's got decent damage. His meterless combos solo are around 32%-35% give or take which isn't that high. To get high damage he's gotta spend bar on ex tele, but he already prefers to spend meter on invis so he's not usually dumping the meter for big 45%+ combos unless using Scorp kameo, which every character gets huge damage with lol

Played an omniman yesterday and whenever i tried wo wake up armoyr he had a string that either hits me on normal wake up or just make me completely miss my armoured wake up. Then whats my options. Non wake up block and guess
It’s a recurring problem with a lot of characters, it has to be faster wake up armor already to avoid stabbing the ground with each wake up when their combo character AND increase the speed of the blow so that they can not block the fucking armored blow WITH a hit

2-make his F3 -2 on block because that’s probably one of his best staggers and it’s -5 on block
3-his only whiff punishing tool B2 is insanely slow and can’t punish most pokes or it can be interrupted during the opponent’s whiff , how i would fix this is either make it invulnerable or a little bit faster
4-Fix his armor
5-i would make BF3 EX much faster like 7 frame start up since li mei has something similar , i would give it to smoke
6-since his pressure is fake , I would give him a projectile
There are probably more buffs but i think these are the ones he needs

1 - its really weird that ermac and Rain get real cancel pressure but not Smoke. The patch yesterday also didn't do enough imo to make it worth spending the bar on the EX cancel. Ermac is also +5 after EX cancel but his normal cancels were already better than Smoke so it works for him lmao. Smoke needs more than he got
2 - F3 being actually staggerable would be amazing
3 - agreed. I'm cool with the speed if it would just crush pokes like it looks like it should. Sucks getting smacked outta the air by down 3s lmfao
4 - I'm fine with him having a mediocre armor move because I want his rushdown to be better, but it doesnt feel right to have your armor triggered on accident, and they still have enough time to just block and punish lmao. Or when it gets triggered and you just whiff somehow
5 - 7 frame startup EX VV would be fantastic. I also think it should just be a launcher when EXed. If I do F3 and think my opponent is gonna mash after the cancel to stop me doing anything, I should be able to do EX VV and counterhit their poke, causing them to crumple (like after Scorp kameos overhead) and then combo them
6 - a projectile could also be cool. I think he should have another version of shadow blade where he throws it horizontally. If it hits, it yanks them in front of you like the normal version. If you EX it, it yanks them toward you but in the air, letting you juggle after.
Or you could make it his actual Smoke ball. Make it a mid tracking projectile that if it hits, teleports them in front, and if you EX it just teleports them above you and you can act soon enough to juggle from it. Any of those would be sick lmao
There are definitely more buffs we could come up with lmao. For starters, he has no use for F12 grab + back, or J211, or the full B234 string. And F324 is also almost totally useless. Would be neat if any of those had a purpose lol

He fs needs less gaps it’s ridiculous also they should give him a new string that starts with a mid or make the second hit of f4 a mid I agree with everything else a smoke away move would help tremendously and armor needs a rework

Armor definitely sucks. Would be fine with it being slow if it at least tracked better and our offense got improved. But having holes in all our offense, bad mobility, slow anti zoning and shitty defensive options feels terrible lmao
adding classic shake as a parry would be sick, could bait pokes out of cancels. Not really significant but i just like the way that move always looks lol

Also I agree, Smoke just needs more flashy smoke effect moves. Most his moves where he actually uses his powers aren't used, like the full B2 string, the last hit of 212, and then he only has 4 specials, and 3 that use his smoke ability

Vapor cancels are safe but negative enough to be mashed on, so the counterplay to that seems like "oh ill just not cancel it if I read them mashing" but for some reason, its both death on block AND only does 7% on its own lmao. Why not make it either launch, or be safe lol

I think smoke could use a quicker overhead check move similar to raiden as he lacks a quick over head, not a combo starter or anything but just another useful tool, I’d say make back 3 a quick overhead kick

Frl the real thing they need to nerf first it the armor. Like so many charaters can counter our armor with there main strings but us we can’t we only have the high kick and it dosen’t counter a lot
It might be not obvious but I as a smoke main since the launch would make that goddamn roll special cancelable - b23 into VV (or kameo) on block. IT'S ULTIMATELY ANNOYING WITH 200 PING when the damn game doesn't register your cancel. The fact that you are basically dead just by your opponent blocking it with no option at all is just BS. You can VV f1224 any time, smoke bomb or whatever, but b23 is just a damn disaster. I understand at least if they react to b2 with an upblock - thats honorable, but just a simple block on b23 with further humiliation on this hardass character is too much. b23 is the absolute garbage right now. The rest is not even close.

Smoke needs quality of he has so many ways to enforce low only one way to enforce over head so make the second hit of 212 an overhead so u can't blindly fuzzy block it all and u have to read or react make the smoke port cancel neutral as it stands the punish for the cancel is the same as a teleport let him vapor away and lastly make it so smokes back 2 can't be neutral jumped if u can't jump ashrahs overhead or Johnny's forward 4 then smoke shouldn't be screwed the same way
Also lol just thought of this, do you think it would be too much but check this. What if you could cancel his smoke ball teleport attack thing. The one where he throws it in the air and then ports over to ya. What if you could cancel it after a couple frames once its in the air, and choose when to drop out of it and not attack and just in a way cancel the move but your still traveled some-type of distance. And i wonder if you could come up with interesting ways to use it aggressively if possible 🤷🏼♂️

smoke is the worst "pressure" character in the game. hard execution on cancels that will only lead to you getting poked or armored on, no mid, death on f32, poke on f3 cancel, incredibly reactable 28f overhead, 30f triple high to get some plus frames, terrible armor etc...there is literally no reason to pick him over johnny, ermac or anyone else after they all get buffed and he stays down at the bottom. the only way to currently play him is to spend all your sektor kameo and bar just to be invisible as often as possible. I hate this playstyle so I've always scorpion kameo to make bf3 into a full combo, but it's still an extremely risky 50/50. and now that kameo is just a worse version of sonya pretty much
i feel like he's just a noob killer character. casuals hate him because they're bad at the game. and comp player don't use him so they dont care to call for his buffs

Probably an unpopular opinion but as a more casual player who will never be able to compete at the highest level, I'd mainly want them to rework his Vapor cancels. I don't understand why they would make such a weird mechanic to be a major part of Smokes BnB combos. And to make it even worse, they make the cancel have different timings, work worse online and if you fail the cancel you get punished with a full combo. It just such stupid, unenjoyable game design and it's not worth the effort to master it.
I say this back in the day when he was "top tier" in the eyes of almost 90% of the community, i say that he was not that good and he needs some buffs actually like he should be plus on movement to backdash or jump.. That was enough to have like 30 comments with Ppl calling me crazy,stupd,skill issued,everything u could imagine 😂 playing with him online and having ppl on the mic saying everything to me only because i went invisible 😂

@@x0nix honestly his damage isn't that great. He's got decent damage. His meterless combos solo are around 32%-35% give or take which isn't that high. To get high damage he's gotta spend bar on ex tele, but he already prefers to spend meter on invis so he's not usually dumping the meter for big 45%+ combos unless using Scorp kameo, which every character gets huge damage with lol

Played an omniman yesterday and whenever i tried wo wake up armoyr he had a string that either hits me on normal wake up or just make me completely miss my armoured wake up. Then whats my options. Non wake up block and guess
It’s a recurring problem with a lot of characters, it has to be faster wake up armor already to avoid stabbing the ground with each wake up when their combo character AND increase the speed of the blow so that they can not block the fucking armored blow WITH a hit

Invis costs a bar and is anti air able in neutral, cancels are fake pressure, all his strings have gaps, only two sets of plus frames which are both unsafe,no real staggers and he has to chase zoners down, how doesn’t he need a buff?
i just want him to have not as many gaps as ermac or rain does 🫤
