Great video as always! Regarding the F4 armor break thing, I've found it to work better when done after a move that leaves you as plus as possible on hit, like BF3 or air 112. While it can also work after 1114 or even a sweep, it starts to get kind of inconsistent with character with fast advancing armor like Omni-Man. I haven't tried something like standing 3 or a Sektor missile setup to see if that may work better against these characters, though.
Something I've wanted to practice more is converting from successful F4 armor breaks using DB4 EX. Given that using DB4 EX there times after F4 seems to be the most efficient way to spend three bars in a single combo scaling-wise (doing almost 50% in damage without Kameo usage) and knowing that some opponents tend to start mashing wakeup armor when they are at a health disadvantage, I feel this could be a good way to close rounds before we need to spend that meter in combo breaks.
Omni-Man is a weird matchup for me. There are quite a few moves that are punishable on paper but I struggle with during actual matches. Maybe it's because I always use F32 for punishes, should use 1114 more since that's a lot faster (and with Smoke/Scorpion you can get decent damage with 1114 into BF3 and convert it with his ambush assist).
I legitimately didn't know Smoke had a 1114 brutality, need to try it on a match later 🤔
Versus Scorpion, I feel like I should practice more ways to punish the spear. I don't remember exactly how negative it is, but I feel a DB4 YOLO teleport could punish it on block, or at least using the canceled version for closing the distance and starting your pressure. I think a BF3 might work too, but I haven't actually tried it on practice mode or an actual match. I really need to practice these two moves for punishing zoning attempts, I've seen people discuss this may make the Smoke-Peacemaker matchup a lot more favorable for the crayon munchers, since you're likely to find Peacemaker on Kombat League rather often.
I like these kinds of videos, they're a good opportunity to talk about different match-ups and scenarios that may not come up during the character guides. Take care 👍

Thanks! I'm glad you liked this style of video! And yea thats a good point about the armor break. I tend to autopilot do it whenever I get a knockdown since I have yet to encounter anyone that intentionally ducks or flawless blocks it lmao. I usually only start doing it less when the armor breaking doesnt work. Missile set ups into armor break are really good tho, and I almost never go for them lol. I tend to save the missile for pressure and just try to space around an armored wakeup to punish. Jumping back and watching a Sub EX slide or Johnny Shadow Kick fly underneath me while I land on it with a jump 1 into full combo punish is one of the best feelings.
Yo same actually. I can't remember if it was in one of these matches, but I'm pretty sure I've actually reacted to the F4 hitting and going for the huge combo only like 1 time in my entire life. I feel like it's pretty easy to actually react to, we just gotta pay attention lmao. And you are correct, F4 into 3 bar tele-loops is the highest damage we can get off of 3 bars solo. 32 into triple bar tele-loops is the 2nd highest, by only about 1% less. Definitely would be an excellent way to close out rounds and especially when people tend to get more aggro with their wakeups on lower health like you said.
I like the Omni-Man matchup cuz I feel like we have really good answers to dealing with most of his Low Hat mix. I might make a vid on it someday, but the braindead fullscreen hat into Stance Overhead, we can just teleport on reaction and the overhead will miss and we will be behind the hat and even tho the tele whiffs, Omni-Man will still be recovering from his own whiff and wont be able to punish us. There's a specific timing to it, but i recall being able to get it consistently in training mode like a month ago. Another option is to just BF3 through the hat while it's moving and Omni-Man will miss us when he comes down. If I remember, the timing is tighter on that one to make the overhead miss I think. But yea, I like that we have weird options like that to get around some of the braindead mix. Obviously doesnt work at point blank. Also Shadow Blade can snipe him out the air if you hit his toes while he's in stance.
There's definitely a lot of stuff to look out for in that matchup tho. As you can see in the vid, I am utter shit at reacting to the B2 overhead or whatever the input is. And also have to mentally force myself to stand up after blocking the first hit of any of his strings cuz I always forget about the 2nd hit overhead. Good idea on using 1114 to punish stuff. I also tend to use F32 or even 32 as my goto punish at point blank, even though F12 is slightly better for a bit less damage, and 1114 is obviously much safer.
Like 99% of the time it's better to take the small damage but guaranteed punish than to risk missing a punish going for a slower starter, especially if you can be punished for missing your punish.
Oh maybe I mispoke in the video but Smoke doesnt have a 1114 brutality. I wish he did cuz I love that move lmao. The F1224 brutal is funny though. Maybe I was referring to that one if I accidentally said 1114
I also need to lab spear punishes tbh. I feel like it's not negative enough to punish it with a crayon fueled yolo teleport, but we might be able to do that if we microduck it or even react to the start up if we're far enough away. At the very least, a reversal BF3 cancel should put us in front of him at relatively neutral frames.
And yes, I loveeee zone-breaking with BF3 cancels. I tend to do it a lot even without the opponent zoning just to kinda check if my opponent is ready to punish me for it. Even if I get knocked full screen, Ill do it on wakeup to try and catch them off guard and be in their face again immediately lmao.
That's good to know though dude. Theyre pretty simple to edit so I can realistically do one of these a week so that there isn't always such a long gap between my vids while I work on the more in-depth guides and shit. And yesss thats the other dope part is that it sparks matchup convos like you just brought up with Omni-Man and Scorpion. Would love to all pool our knowledge and stuff so we can all get better.
And thank you Ruben, you do the same! Next time I wont take so long to get back to your comments. I had scheduled this video to upload while I was traveling out of state and I got back on the day that I did the Janet stream, so I've been busy tryna juggle so many things and am working to create a better routine/schedule for myself lmao.
P.S. Did you get a chance to watch my crazy kameo buff ideas video? Curious of your thoughts on that topic since I feel like we're on a similar page on how we'd like them to buff kameos and I feel like I had some unhinged balance ideas in that vid (make Scorpion Kameo spear usable while in hitstun)

You should become a teacher, the pitch of your voice, the clear, concise and pace that you talk with lends well to giving instructions. Along with you slowly down your videos at certain point like when you show smoke turning white after cancel.
Im just on my third character because i work alot, but i hope down the road you do instructional videos for more characters, like syndel, scorpion and shan sung. Keep it up sir, im now a subscriber, thanks for your work!

Haha thats awesome of you to say, thank you! My mom was a teacher tho actually(retired now) so I did learn some things from her I guess lmao. I'm glad the slow-mo is helpful tho! I've been wondering if it was actually useful in showing what I'm talking about so I appreciate the feedback!
And yes I really wanna do more character guides beyond just Smoke and Sub. I have Rain, Havik and Quan scripts all in varying levels of finished that I'll have to return to and actually finish so I can put out some more character guide videos. And thank you very much for the support and kind words! I will do my best!

Hey Brinks; I used to talk to you from my parody channel (retired it lol). However I've just decided to play and cover the game now and for just starting its not going bad (opinions vary).
I like to play against someone I've met on TH-cam, I'm wondering if you'd like to play for fun, I'll upload our match and shout out your channel 🐉
Its good to see you're still making great videos ✊ I hope to hear back, and I hope all is well.

And yea dude id be down to do some friendlies

@@AwesomeBRINKS You really did remember man, you're awesome. I haven't shared that parody channel with my current subs i think in the future I will as a little egg from the past though 😅.
I've decided to really throw in the work to play/give opinions/updates now as a channel. I played a pro in my last shop update video (💀). Its great to hear from you again, and see you're still at it.
The last segment of my videos are fighting a sub/viewer, it's for fun. I'd love to have some fun matches with you and give a genuine shout out to your channel for your guides man.
If we get some sets in I could shout your channel out in multiple videos, while sharing different matches we had. Your kind of content is the best kind I can recommend to a viewer wanting to learn combos. I'm mainly reviewing the shop and playing subs, so it would bridge the gap for those wanting tips on fighting.
I'm on PC, but any console is fine with crossplay.

@@ScottyKombat Sorry for the late reply, but yes I do! and haha thanks. I tend to have a good memory of all the interactions with people that comment on my stuff. There's something crazy about deciding to make content and then getting positive feedback from complete strangers that become fans of what you created. All those interactions tend to stick in my memory lol.
And that makers sense, that would be neat to share with them someday lol.
and thats awesome! I saw some of your stuff and I like the direction youre going and can tell youre putting in the work dude! and thanks! It's been fun. I've still got tons of video ideas in the works and am about to go all out with Ermac guides the same as Ive done with Smoke.
And the viewer battle thing sounds dope. I certainly wouldnt mind running some matches with you at some point too!
and I am also on PC
