Rose in A2 can also power up soul illusion by doing a CC and throwing 2 fireballs. This gives her a damage buff and makes her reflects able to juggle in the corner. Her reflect also powers up her fireball everytime you absorb one, this lets you do 100% damage CCs. Her soul illusion also lets her combo into CC and buff her lvl 2.

Would've been cool to see the best characters in the different seasons of SFV as well, but they're harder to get footage of, so I can understand why. Very cool video! Was fun to get insight on the different top tiers, especially on the lesser played games :)
Speaking of chibi characters the neo geo pocket/ color has awesome fighters…I play the collection on my steam deck…I also have gem fighters as well and it’s cute and even back in the ps1 days Capcom did an excellent job with that port.
I’m a Japanese person who actually played Street Fighter II. Personally, I was shocked by Akuma(Japanese Kanji 豪鬼gouki), who was introduced as a hidden character in the 90s. I think he’s the strongest, but what do you all think?😅
It did recharge when he hit you but he would have to hit you a lot to get an extra use so it basically never happened, the factor that mattered most was that it didn't go down over time like other v-triggers so you couldn't just wait it out like, let's say, Rose's VT2, so you can see a lot in high level matches if Luke had a life lead and had VT active the Luke player would get a knockdown and just backdash to full screen and throw fireballs, he then had a full screen confirm and any attempts to approach could be stopped with a button press
Fun walk down memory lane! Thanks for this! It would have been fun to get more of a breakdown of SF5, though. There's a whole season by season narrative that saw various characters take top slot before Luke arrived. Or perhaps just a sense for the major additions.
Firstly, I very much enjoyed this video and how you presented it. However, I'm kind of sad that some of the oddball games in the series didn't get a shoutout. I was eagerly awaiting the character analysis of SF The Movie and the EX games. Cross Tekken too :P Joking aside, this was probably already a ton of work and thank you for the video, I always love little history lessons like this... Maybe we could get Hellpockets or somebody to give this treatment to KOF!
Regarding ST, the more recent lists typically have Claw and Dhalsim as the best two characters, with O.Gat and Boxer both in contention for 3rd. It's been quite a while since O.Gat was legitimately considered _the_ best character.
Street Fighter EX+Alpha - Either Shin Akuma (has an infinite), Shin Garuda (Free combo-breaking teleport into super combo) or Cycloid-Gamma (Multiple TODs). Half of the cast is broken. Street Fighter EX 2+ - Half of the cast is broken again, but I'm going to say Garuda. And maybe Sharon. Street Fighter EX 3 - Ace, despite the fact that half of the cast is broken yet again. Any plans on covering the EX franchise?
Def interested to see the worst list if ya do one of those. Maybe even a wild one in the future like "Hardest AI Bosses" (either in all of FGs or per franchise)
Nah, gotta hard disagree on the SF4 AE/Ultra picks. E. Ryu was top but no one mastered him until way later, and he had much higher representation than Elena. Everyone thought top 8 capcom cup that year was gonna be nothing but Elena and there wasn't even one, but Daigos E. Ryu got second. Even before Ultra, Sako 3-0'd Xian in CapCup with E. Ryu, which really showcased just how fucking GOOD that character was in the right hands, and he had the scariest low forward in the game, you get clipped with that when E. Ryu has 2 bars you're eating STUPID damage. Suddenly everyone started picking him up as a secondary, and in Daigos' case, started maining him.
I am so totally gonna get too upset if I disagree. Seriously, great work, complete and well organized. It's good watching for SF info, and how to make a good video.
"We don't consider Akuma, he's tournament banned he's a secret boss character..." So...he's out of the running for being the best in the game because he's so good at the game he's banned? It just kinda sounds like he's the best in the game but ok.
Et important part is what he said after that, that he is not meant to be balanced. He does not really factor in the game balance. Yes he is the best, but in his case there is no intersecting discussion to be had about it. They made him intentionally broken and he is. That's it.
There’s a video about why Akuma is banned, it’s pretty interesting. It’s not so much that he’s so good at the game, it’s that he’s playing a different game than the other characters. Later games added stuff like air fireballs in the normal gameplay but in that one he was a boss character so he works by boss character rules ie not actually meant to be played by people - for example characters at that point were just not balanced to be able to counterplay air fireballs when used by other humans as opposed to an AI with somewhat predictable patterns. So then I think it’s more that the video is sort of implicitly about who’s the strongest in competitive settings and if a character is disallowed it takes them out of discussion. He still mentioned Akuma though, so I don’t really see the issue
I was a teen when SF2 hit the arcades. We had a friend who was older and a computer programmer. There was a bunch of us who each mastered a character (mine was Chun Li). He played Dhalsim for fun, but when he played Ryu he couldn't be beaten. he said that the sprites could be exploited by Ryu, that Ryu was able to get perfect grabs, light hits, and jump kicks that countered all the other character's moves. His fireball being used as a shield ahead of him. Every time we played against him and he ran Ryu, he couldn't be beaten.

I know SFV doesn't still have the best reputation but c'mon it ran for 8 years and went through a lot of changes. Vanilla SFV had Nash's crazy backdashes and pokes, Mika's 50/50 city, and chun's insta air leg pressures. Midway through its life the game got vtrigger scaling because of Abigail doing 80-100% damage from crush counter into vtrigger activation. Then finally Luke taking a dump on the 8 years of changes and balances. SFV had a lot of crazy, BS, dumbstuff but overall it was a pretty solid game at the end.
all the old versions of SF5 are unplayable because of them switching to seasons/patches over new versions like with the past entries (SF2 Vanilla > CE > HF > Super > ST, A1 > A2 > A3, NG > 2I > 3S, SF4 Vanilla > Super > AE > AE2012 > Ultra)

You know whenever SF4 is brought up on who's the strongest character, it's often Elena, Yun or even Akuma but never did I heard the case for Rufus! Guess I know why Jwong plays him before.
Great work. Im surprised you skipped all the versions of SFV
another thing about 2i Akuma divekick:
you can air parry with down in 2i; divekick is a built-in anti air parry OS.
Would've been cool to see the best characters in the different seasons of SFV as well, but they're harder to get footage of, so I can understand why.
Very cool video! Was fun to get insight on the different top tiers, especially on the lesser played games :)
A video on the top characters in the spinoffs would be awesome. Always a treat to see content about Gem Fighter and such.
Speaking of chibi characters the neo geo pocket/ color has awesome fighters…I play the collection on my steam deck…I also have gem fighters as well and it’s cute and even back in the ps1 days Capcom did an excellent job with that port.
16:58 🎗️🌹🎗️ Whoa, I didn't know that. I always underestimated that move. Cool!
Can’t lie Akuma with the beard just makes him more scary to fight a true Oni
that still has his warrior's code thankfully
I’m a Japanese person who actually played Street Fighter II. Personally, I was shocked by Akuma(Japanese Kanji 豪鬼gouki), who was introduced as a hidden character in the 90s. I think he’s the strongest, but what do you all think?😅
What does that red writing on his back mean
You can't read?
Id love to see more stuff like this. I only picked up SF at the end of SFV so getting these history lessons is really cool
I don’t play fg anymore but the way you explain things makes it easy for the casual in me to figure out what’s going on. Thank you!
you should have added second impact sean since he is very busted
Yea I thought for sure Sean would get a mention on the second impact version...
new generation sean should have also been mentioned because he's the highest tier outside of the infinite characters (twins and ibuki)
Sean wasn’t the best. He was good and top tier but not as busted as Akuma and Ibuki
Great video! But wheres my favorite Pocket Fighter? 😂
You're the best, bro.
You don't cut corners and you explain EVERYTHING!!!!
As they used to say in Datsun commercials: "Totally AWESOME!!!"
I love your vids and just subbed. I love looking back at the old games. I also like watching you explain the new ones I haven't even played yet.
In SF5, didn't Lukes V-trigger also recharge, which was a huge issue because it made people have to attack him to remove it faster.
It did recharge when he hit you but he would have to hit you a lot to get an extra use so it basically never happened, the factor that mattered most was that it didn't go down over time like other v-triggers so you couldn't just wait it out like, let's say, Rose's VT2, so you can see a lot in high level matches if Luke had a life lead and had VT active the Luke player would get a knockdown and just backdash to full screen and throw fireballs, he then had a full screen confirm and any attempts to approach could be stopped with a button press
yeah he recharge it if he manages to hit you with it
It doesnt matter
His whole kit was busted af
Fun walk down memory lane! Thanks for this! It would have been fun to get more of a breakdown of SF5, though. There's a whole season by season narrative that saw various characters take top slot before Luke arrived. Or perhaps just a sense for the major additions.
Firstly, I very much enjoyed this video and how you presented it. However, I'm kind of sad that some of the oddball games in the series didn't get a shoutout. I was eagerly awaiting the character analysis of SF The Movie and the EX games. Cross Tekken too :P
Joking aside, this was probably already a ton of work and thank you for the video, I always love little history lessons like this... Maybe we could get Hellpockets or somebody to give this treatment to KOF!
dis write hear
Aw man i havent played fighting games in years but i still like watching these and being up to date on the new games...
Regarding ST, the more recent lists typically have Claw and Dhalsim as the best two characters, with O.Gat and Boxer both in contention for 3rd. It's been quite a while since O.Gat was legitimately considered _the_ best character.
wtf... I sat through the whole 46 min video?! Bruh, I don't even play SF anymore. Great vid!
We're pretending those don't exist for some reason
Nanase is more or less agreed to be #1 in EX2+, followed by Area, Sharon and V. Rosso
@@ToyotaKudoFan Why these four? Explain, please.
I NEED one of these for the other games, like SFA3 MAX. So many changes were made to the og version that I feel it's genuinely worth covering
This is exactly my kinda video
you gained a sub bald badass. fucking awesome video. fucking fuck yeah. i love your passion
This was a great video. I wish you did all the different versions of SFV too
agreed, this clown skipped like 3 versions of that game
Interesting video. Didn't know there were so many changes in each version od SF2 ^^
Def interested to see the worst list if ya do one of those. Maybe even a wild one in the future like "Hardest AI Bosses" (either in all of FGs or per franchise)
They all live in snk games
Awesome video! I would love to see also the worse fighter of each SF game 😄
Thanks for the video! I really enjoyed it!
Why no Ex Series?
Who?
Because Skullo was the best character in EX
@1:25 down, R, up, L, Y, B was the code to pick the same character in SFII on SNES.
It is Vega, since we call him Vega since ever
Vega has a claw & Balrog is a Boxer 😐🥊
that is how it shall be. 🗿
@sMack120 my words dude, my words
@@jannyegaxherd9376 😉🤜🤛🤩
We need a "Best Street Fighter" character in every Versus game. It'd be fun to see how few of the OG SF characters are any good in those games.
I am so totally gonna get too upset if I disagree. Seriously, great work, complete and well organized. It's good watching for SF info, and how to make a good video.
What about street fighter rainbow edition? :P
The amount of work this guy does is astonishing.
Recently the like button more or less disappeared for me. I can see the number next to it (17k at the time I'm writing this) but it won't show me whether I've already clicked it or not. So, I'm stuck in a world where I can't determine whether I'm giving or taking away a like from someone if I've watched the video more than once.
Didn't the capcom code allow you to pick the same fighter in the original game? We used to do it all the time. Is my memory faulty??
Only on console, not arcade
Why no EX Plus games ? 😭😭
SKULLOMANIA
Instant like on any of your videos. You make me want to get back into fighting games with your content. Your energy and positivity are absolutely infectious and i can't thank you enough for the hours of entertainment youve provided me, even if I'm not actively involved in these communities. GOD bless you, sir! 🙏🏼❤️🙂❤️🙏🏼
Pretty sure the whole dump of changes & balances have never change even before Luke show. Urien's Vtrigger ageis reflector BUSTED, Dhalsim & Poison zoning pressure BROKEN, Rashid well you get the picture.
Everyone has a soft spot for their first street fighter game. I still love SF4 even though the accessibility of SF6 makes more sense to me these days. Capcom probably learnt a lot from SFV but the game was trash until season 3
Loved the segue between each game 😊
sf x tekken?
I’m 46 and have been waiting for this since I was a kid.
Where's Dan?
I'm glad you mentioned the like and subscribe at the intro. I've been subscribed for a couple years now, yet, when I went to hit like, I realized that somehow the subscribe had been unclicked. So, uh, fixed that shit in a hurry.
CE over Hyper??? Crazy!
Yup! Hyper is broken! that version is trash!
@@Gen965 but CE is like fighting on sand! Tbh I love how much Hyper is broken tho 😅
@@darrnellnott07 I think C.E is perfectly well balanced & the GOAT of the SF II frachises, Except they just made Bison Broken but it's still fun till this day. So you like that Speed fighting of SFll hyper?.. I mean thats cool, everyone is entitled to they own. I just didn't like it when they made it super fast. I like Balrog better on C.E. & only C.E. he was Trash on Hyper.
@@Gen965 my heart stays with Super Turbo but I will always have a soft spot for Hyper because that's the one I played as a kid. ST is just hype to watch to this day. I could play people forever on it. That's my stuff right there.
I mean, other than Super, there's not a weak one in the bunch lol Even WW has its shine
It the thing on the screen that shows the button input edited after the videos were recorded or is there a way to get them while playing the game on street fighter arcade edition, i see that input sheet on most of the videos and would like to have it on screen while i play is there a way to get that on screen in game
T I G E R
Now all we need is a series of videos detailing characters with some of the most broken aspects about them across the entire franchise.
clicking like almost made me panic at the disco
Sounds like you barely retained your sense of poise and rationality.
Great vid Jim, spot on as usual. Love your spirit
Thanks for the nostalgia. I played a lot of the SF2 series in the arcades.
