Today is 2/12/21 and I enjoyed your reaction to Home Frees' cover of Man of Constant Sorrow. It's and old song - written in 1913 and we call it "Folk Music" here in the States. Folk music is indeed what led to Country Music. I just love this group.

This is the music of the Appalachian mountains. The people were poor as dirt. They had only their voices, and maybe a "mouth harp" if they were lucky, so this music is born of their souls and their poverty. It is wonderful that these guys are bringing it back and letting generations of people all over the world understand and appreciate this music.
Before listening to Mayday, listen to Helplessly Hoping, Auld Lang Syne, and Some Girls Do. This will give you an idea of all of their voices. Then you will say "Wait, what?!" when watching Mayday.
Others have filled you in on the basics of "region/genre." All are professionally trained. All can adapt their own natural accents to match a song. Austin's just plain LEANING on this to go all out, and he's a Southern Boy. (grin) Basically they adapt to suit a piece quite a lot, but maintain a light, casual touch of Southern/Midwestern as their own natural ambiance. They understand that dialect and accent affect how a song is heard, and they make good use of it without getting phony.
I immediately smiled when you said you never heared of Home Free...ahhhhh my friend welcome to a beautiful thing :) I am happy to subscribe and go down that journey with ya if you care to do so! Video one... lets see
I have been enjoying watching these reaction videos on this particular group and song (Sorrows) because one, I love their reactions, and two I get to hear the song over again! What he seems to be missing is that he got off on the bass and harmonica, and still miss the fact that there is no drummer. That is all voice! The beats, everything!
Your first time hearing Home Free, that's just the tip of the 'Iceberg'. Welcome!!!! Already the Home fries are giving you a list of videos. These guys are awesome, hilarious, talented and Guffey. Adam Rupp who makes the harmonica sound is the Beat boxer. I am sure you will not be disappointed.
They're recognised by being the only Country accapella group. They do a lot of covers, but do have originals. The bass Tim is from Texas, First tenor is from Georgia,, the baritone is from Alabama. The beat boxer and the guy with the beard are from Minnesota. They sing all genre's of music and the did dress for this video. Hope you'll do more. Going to subscribe. One more thing .... They don't take themselves to seriously and love having fun....that's not to say they can't be serious because they can . Thanks for the reaction.
Home Free is truly amazing. Tim, the bass, has a five octave voice range. Austin, high tenor, who sang lead here, has an amazing voice. May I suggest, Country Roads, My Church, Love Train, and Mayday, just to name a few. You're going to love this Home Free journey, into their music. Great reaction.
Tim and Avi had a bass-off on one video and literally blew the speakers! I think they were doing Ring of Fire. Great reaction! Home Free is pretty amazing! Their gospel songs will give you wings.
Loved your reaction! Love Homefree! Their bass Tim Foust is a beast! Lol Us Homefries ( Home free fans) will love you reacting to Homefree as much as possible. Few suggestions, Love train, End of the Road, How great thou Art (gospel), Do you hear what I hear (Christmas). If you want to see Tim's 5 octave vocal range watch Peter Hollens featuring Tim Foust cover of Misty Mountains for Tim's low range, and the watch Homefree doing Mayday cover for Tim's higher register. Thanks for your reaction! Stay safe and healthy and have a blessed day!
I just subscribed!! Welcome to HOME FREE HOME FREE is a county A Capella band that does more than country. Tim Foust, the bass, Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, Adam Chance (Chance) is the baritone/bass, Rob Lundquist, tenor and Austin Browm high tenor make up the voices of angels. PLEASE listen to more.. If I know my Home Free family well, they have already given you suggestions of music. LOL Thanks for the reaction.
Loved your reaction. Yeah Tim has that effect on people. He has a 5 octave range so he can sing tenor along with deep, deep notes. Three of the boys are from the south, Texas, Georgia and Alabama. Two are from Minnesota. They are an amazing a cappella group and do a lot of country songs but that’s not all they do. They do pop, R & B, religious songs, parody and country. They have a good sense of humor too. They do a lot of covers but also write their own songs. Their harmonies are amazing. Try Helplessly Hoping, Seven Bridges Road, Country Roads to start. The beatboxer is amazing too. Oh and Tim has been known to break speakers with his low notes. You can see him go real low in Misty Mountains (from The Hobbit) with Peter Hollens (another amazing a cappella singer). Folsom Prison Blues is a good one too for low notes. You can’t go wrong with Home Free. Keep reacting!
.All of these guys have amazing voices and they spread around who sings lead or they share it or they all do harmony like in How Great Thou Art, Auld Lang Syne or Helplessly Hoping. Tim is their bass singer with a 5+ octave range. To hear him in lead, try My Church or In the Blood. Chance sings baritone for Home Free he has a 4-octave range and use to sing bass in his previous group. To hear Chance sings lead try I can’t outrun you or Some girls Do. To hear Austin (high Tenor with curly light hair) who sang lead here try Meet me in the middle or Love Train. Rob (beard and glasses) try Blue Ain’t your color or Dreamer. My suggestion for your next song would be Take Me Home, Country Roads (Rob sings lead but everyone has their moment). It's a good one to help you get acquainted with their different voices.
Sir, welcome to the world of Home Free ! I would like to hear you react to their cover of Helplessly Hoping, their original called Dive Bar Saints. But you really can't go wrong with anything Home Free sings. I am subbed !
Welcome to Home Free! There are some wonderful suggestions here so I'll add a couple of my favorites not mentioned. Meet in the Middle and Catch Me if You Can. Not that I don't like them all, but you can't list them all at once! I enjoyed your reaction and an looking forward to the next one. Thanks! ^_^
Mighty great reaction. These fellers are (bass) Tim from southeast coast of Texas, (lead tenor) Austin from south Georgia, (baritone) Chance from the eastern shore of Mobile Bay, Alabama (alligator swamp country) where this video was shot. He was the one imitating the mouth harp at the beginning and and of the video. Sounds like a swamp bull frog to me, but with a rhythm. Adam (beat box) and Rob (tenor harmony) are from Minnesota (up north) where the original group began.
Love Home Free. One of their recent releases was in conjuction with Lee Greenwood and the US Air Force Choral singing Lee's God Bless the USA. Just awesome! And they also put out some great Covid quarantine songs. What We Need is Love, Quarantine, Flowers on the Wall, Everybody Walkin' This Land.
Welcome to the invasion of the Home Fries, the very loving and passionate fans of Home Free. We love our Home Free reactors so keep them coming, please! 😁🙏 Whatever song you get drawn to go for it, but we usually recommend holding off with Mayday until you get to know their voices more. Personally, I think you should dive right in and check out Folsom Prison Blues, End of the Road, and their originals What We Need Is Love and Cold Hard Cash. You really can't go wrong with these guys. Add Cover Me Up and Meet In the Middle to the mix and nothing will ever be able to stop you from coming back to these guys. 😁 You'll be Sold (oh, that's another one to check out!)
3 of them - the lead on this (Austin) is from south Georgia; the bass singer (Tim) is from southeast Texas; and the man in the black waistcoat (Chance) is from Alabama. The other 2 (the man with glasses - Rob and the beatboxer - Adam) are both from Minnesota.
The band has been around for 20 years. Adam Rupp (beatboxer), Rob Lundquist (glasses) and former member Chris Rupp (Adam's brother) were from Minnesota. The rest of the current members are from the South.
Greetings from Norway. Great reaction, and as you may have understood by now Home Free has a couple of fans in here, and I believe doing Home Free reactions is a great way to boost your subscriber numbers. Please do their cover of On the road again, and for Christmas Grandma got run over by a reindeer, I guarantee a good laugh.
What surprises most people hearing this for the first time is that the five Texas boys are not using a single instrument. All the instrumental effects are made by human voice alone. The two Adams, one beatboxing and the other emulating a jaw harp, make the song wonderful. I have emulated a harmonica with my voice before. Let me assure you it is not easy!
Welcome down the rabbit-hole of Home Free videos! I fell in five years ago with their take on 'Ring of Fire' (featuring Avi Kaplan), and have been a Home Fry (fan) ever since. They do great videos, but are also awesome in concert. And they are genuinely really nice blokes, too.
Two of the members are from the South, one is from Texas and the other two are from Minnesota. Austin Brown is the high tenor, from Georgia, Adam Chance, the baritone is from Alabama, Tim Faust the bass is from Texas and Rob Lundquist is the tenor with the heavy beard. The vocal percussionist is Adam Rupp.
Nice reaction, it's always great to see someone discovering my favourite group. 😀 You've had a lot of great suggestions, so I won't add to them yet, but I hope you'll continue to enjoy their great singing, and see their sense of humour. (Can I also say I so agree about TH-cam comments - I mean, there are always the unpleasant ones, but in general, they're a lot of fun.)
Baritone Adam Chance in the vest in back (who goes by Chance to differentiate from Adam Rupp, the beatboxer) is doing the jaw harp you hear at the beginning and ending as well as some in the middle.
I just subscribed...... I am looking forward to your journey down the Home Free rabbit hole. You will most likely become a Home Fry....the name for their fans. You ought to look up the videos of people who are at a live Hime Free concert and Tim actually “breaks” the sound system. They say the building shakes when he his those sub-woofer (?) notes. Absolutely amazing and unbelievable at the same time.
Home Free won a show called the Sing-Off in the 4th season and PTX won the Sing-off season 3. It was a show with acapella groups competing and a lot of good groups got the recognition they deserved after that show. I wish they still had that show. It ran for 5 seasons.
Patty Loveless singing "You'll Never Leave Harlin Alive." Alison Krauss singing "River In The Rain." From Broadway musical Big River that won 3 Tonys, written by Roger Miller. .
Three of them are from the south; Austin (high tenor) is from Georgia, Tim (bass) is from Texas and Adam Chance (baritone) is from Alabama. If you want deep from Tim, I can recommend their Johnny Cash covers of 'Ring of Fire' featuring Avi Kaplan (of Pentatonix!) and 'Folsom Prison Blues' - you might need oxygen though! And for comedy, there's their 'Butts Remix' and their own song 'Champagne on a Beer Budget.' But here's a thing: please promise all of us Home Free fans you won't listen to their cover of 'Mayday' until you've heard some more of their other works? 'Mayday' is for later in your Home Free journey - no, don't ask why, just trust us that you'll get the best experience from it that way. 😁
New here!....loved your reactions to their great talent! Tim...the Bass, is totally AWESOME, & is one great, funny guy! He’s written some really funny songs, they’ve done some fun videos to! “Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget” is a great fun one. “Ring of Fire”, is a great one with Avi Kaplan as a guest singer along with Tim !!! Great Basses in that one & it’s Tim doing the last Low Note 🙃🙃
The founding members are actually a couple of Yankees from Minnesota. The others are southerners, from Florida, Georgia, and Texas. Tim Foust, the bass singer, is my fellow Texan.
They are country music based originally, but they have a very wide range of music they perform. Have fun going down the rabbit hole. Also if you want to hear more Tim Faust bass, watch him team up with Peter Hollens in Misty Mountains
Watch a lot of Home Free, get to know them (and Chris Rupp, Adam the beatboxers brother that was there before Chance. But wait to listen to Mayday until you know them!!!! And for the bass, check out their cover of Your Man to see Tim's crazy range!!!!
If you think that bass solo was deep, try "Folsom Prison Blues." Just make sure you have dialed 999, because you will need emergency medical attention.
@@sammyjamesfriend7545 wait, it's an international number? I dial from America, I get an emergency services center in England? Presumably one on the west coast of England since it's closer to my location?
You didn't even get a good sample of Tim "Dragon Breath" Foust. Try Misty Mountains Cold or Ring of Fire. So many of Home Free's covers I could suggest. All great. Another guy you should check out if you like bass singers is Geoff Castielucci (not sure I spelled the last name correctly), try his cover of Blackbird or Bear Necessities. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Just keep going with Home Free. You won't be sorry. Everything they touch is gold. My favorite is "How Great Thou Art" and "Do You Hear What I Hear". Check them out.
Tim. Foust, the Deep Bass has a 5+ octave range, & has blow speakers more than once at concerts 🙃‼️🙃. (He’s from Texas) Austin Brown = the lead is the high tenor, classically, is from Georgia Rob Lundquist = tenor (the beard ), is from Minnesota Adam Rupp = Bear Boxer, is from Minnesota (Adam) Chance= Baritone/Bass, originally from Alabama Now, you have All the singers 🙃‼️🙃...Oh, us Home Free fans are HOME FRIES !!! You keep doing Home Free &, you’ll find a “few” of to show up.....they have a large fan base 🙃‼️🙃
They can and do sing anything including the song book since the lockdowns started in March they’ve released a song every two weeks. Try Ring of fire, your man and Misty Mountain with Peter Hollens to hear some lower notes by Tim.
know their music quite well and is real A Cappella and each person is real talented and no real instruments, but have always wondered if that f'n allgator was real. This grpup has done more mental healing and depression killing of we in US suffering under year of economic and Covid illness, than all the Drs ,nurses, politico pundits and media shills combined. A series of light hearted musical grouping called quarantine; try watching, even though yhey themselves were quarantined and thier massive cost to produce those uplifting episodes. For their fan base deserves an Award in itself, a Humanity award. Thanks gor doing reaction and hopefully you and other Reaction people will spread and widen their growing international fan base. We in world sorely need their talents and down to earth real peoples empathy messages today.
The group when formed was originally from Minnesota. Later additions come from Texas, so not entirely deep south but well able to cover that and many other styles.
Nice reaction👍 Not sure you if you noticed the best bass notes @ 4:37 "while he is..". Easy to miss with all the good stuff going on. And even though this is one of their best, as far as Tim Foust goes, you have more fun and exploring a head of you. And just a side note: you an Rob would look good in a duett, or just playing brothers on screen. Funny as the song was featured in the movie "O Brother, Where Art thou".😉 Have a good one!
I had completely forgotten that song was in O Brother Where Art Thou. I love that film, havent watched it for years! We may look like a good duet but we definitely wouldnt sound good if I were in it hahaha... I'll take him as on screen brother any day 😂
@@firstact5704 Awesome... 😁👍 Btw, the guy who won The Voice US a couple of years ago, Sawyer Fredrics did an insane cover of this song as his first audition. Might be worthwile if you haven't seen it. Not sure if it's reaction material, but most seem to think it's a gem. Cheers👍
New Sub - Can't wait to see you react to more Home Free - they have so, so many covers and also great originals. Please do more - you will never be disappointed - from silly to serious and everything in between. Loved your reaction!
the group oriiginated in Wisconsin by founders brothers Chris Rupp and his brother Adam and tenor Rob Lundquist over time the members changed and the newer members Austin Brown tenor is from Georgia, Bass singer Tim Foust is a Texan and Adam Chance is a Floridian
Tim Foust, Geoff Castelluci and Avi Kaplan the 3 big basses of American a capella for years. Do do Homefree's Ring of Fire at some point. Tim arranged it for 2 bass singers and got Avi Kaplan over from Pentatonix to do it with him. Short but fun.
I do enjoy watching people's minds being blown by Home Free!
They go beyond "deep south." Their "Helplessly Hoping" is soulfully done, and they have fun humor, like their "Butts Remix"
Not to mention their R&B side with their cover of "End Of the Road" by Boyz II Men.
There are 2 of many groups from England - Peter and Gordon and Chad and Jeremy.
Tim's deep voice blew out the speakers at a live performance.
Today is 2/12/21 and I enjoyed your reaction to Home Frees' cover of Man of Constant Sorrow. It's and old song - written in 1913 and we call it "Folk Music" here in the States. Folk music is indeed what led to Country Music. I just love this group.

Tim Foust the bass has a 6 octive range and has blown at least 2 sound system.
Try Ring of Fire with guest Avi Kaplan
Tim and Avi had a bass-off on one video and literally blew the speakers! I think they were doing Ring of Fire. Great reaction! Home Free is pretty amazing! Their gospel songs will give you wings.
Bass off between Tim and Avi? Now that I NEED to see 😂👌
Their cover of Ring of fire with Avi is amazing and a must see
Ring of Fire is an even better example of just how low Tim's voice can go. Add Misty Mountain for a later date as well.

(Can I also say I so agree about TH-cam comments - I mean, there are always the unpleasant ones, but in general, they're a lot of fun.)
Haha. Some comments get me good. Have me crying laughing sometimes
Love your reaction to this video. New subscriber. Looking forward to more Home Free reactions.
Oh wow, thanks for this I didn't know anyone else did this but the Soggy Bottom Boys in "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" 😅🙏🏼💞
Baritone Adam Chance in the vest in back (who goes by Chance to differentiate from Adam Rupp, the beatboxer) is doing the jaw harp you hear at the beginning and ending as well as some in the middle.
I saw Home Free...clicked Subscribe...welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole!!!
Thanks so much for the sub ❤
I just subscribed...... I am looking forward to your journey down the Home Free rabbit hole. You will most likely become a Home Fry....the name for their fans. You ought to look up the videos of people who are at a live Hime Free concert and Tim actually “breaks” the sound system. They say the building shakes when he his those sub-woofer (?) notes. Absolutely amazing and unbelievable at the same time.
Thanks for the sub. Really appreciate it ❤
Oh you found my guys! I love Home Free and I’m a Home Fry. Try Helplessly Hoping, and The Butts Remix next.🤗🐝❤️
Home Free won a show called the Sing-Off in the 4th season and PTX won the Sing-off season 3. It was a show with acapella groups competing and a lot of good groups got the recognition they deserved after that show. I wish they still had that show. It ran for 5 seasons.
Sounds like an awesome show!!!
Patty Loveless singing "You'll Never Leave Harlin Alive."
Alison Krauss singing "River In The Rain." From Broadway musical Big River that won 3 Tonys, written by Roger Miller.
.
love homefree ,new here can you react to home free ring of fire, mayday, all about the bass , oh holy night, how great thou art,
Home Free - Go Rest High On That Mountain
Yes please more home free. Moonshine, butts remix, folsom prison blues is crazy deep as well
The harmonica is part & parcel to the music of the south!
And for comedy, there's their 'Butts Remix' and their own song 'Champagne on a Beer Budget.'
But here's a thing: please promise all of us Home Free fans you won't listen to their cover of 'Mayday' until you've heard some more of their other works?
Austin, the lyric tenor, is from the Deep South, Tifton GA, about 35 miles from my home.
Watch a lot of Home Free, get to know them (and Chris Rupp, Adam the beatboxers brother that was there before Chance. But wait to listen to Mayday until you know them!!!! And for the bass, check out their cover of Your Man to see Tim's crazy range!!!!
How Great Thou Art is a must !
If you think that bass solo was deep, try "Folsom Prison Blues." Just make sure you have dialed 999, because you will need emergency medical attention.
I couldn't have said it better 😂
...Why doesn't America use 999? That makes SO much more sense than 911!
@@jimballard1186 it's different everywhere because if they used 999 it would ring the UK police
@@sammyjamesfriend7545 wait, it's an international number? I dial from America, I get an emergency services center in England? Presumably one on the west coast of England since it's closer to my location?
@@jimballard1186 yes i would have thought so
Ring of fire
You didn't even get a good sample of Tim "Dragon Breath" Foust. Try Misty Mountains Cold or Ring of Fire. So many of Home Free's covers I could suggest. All great.
Another guy you should check out if you like bass singers is Geoff Castielucci (not sure I spelled the last name correctly), try his cover of Blackbird or Bear Necessities. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Geoff is in the acapella group "Voiceplay". That should make finding his stuff easier, although he does have his own channel.
That's our Southern Boys there.
They can sing it all and do it well
Just keep going with Home Free.
(He’s from Texas)
Austin Brown = the lead is the high tenor, classically, is from Georgia
Rob Lundquist = tenor (the beard ), is from Minnesota
Adam Rupp = Bear Boxer, is from Minnesota
(Adam) Chance= Baritone/Bass, originally from Alabama
Now, you have All the singers 🙃‼️🙃...Oh, us Home Free fans are HOME FRIES !!! You keep doing Home Free &, you’ll find a “few” of to show up.....they have a large fan base 🙃‼️🙃
High tenor Austin Georgia, tenor and beatboxer Rob and Adam Minnesota Chance baritone Alabama Tim bass Texas
You forgot Rob Lindquist tenor
@@edithdavis2848 He didn’t. He said he and Adam are both from MN.
@@Pilot545
Thank you did not see that.
Was just about to ”say” the same thing👍🏼😂 These guys🥰
My God, Ron! Use some freaking punctuation! Who is Austin Georgia and Adam Minnesota? This is middle school stuff!
They can and do sing anything including the song book since the lockdowns started in March they’ve released a song every two weeks. Try Ring of fire, your man and Misty Mountain with Peter Hollens to hear some lower notes by Tim.
Another great bass, Geoff castalucci, "Blackbird" Beatles cover, solo
Home Free have been together for 20 years.
New subscriber!! Keep up the Home Free reactions
Thanks for the sub ❤ much appreciated
know their music quite well and is real A Cappella and each person is real talented and no real instruments, but have always wondered if that f'n allgator was real.
Folsom Prison Blues is their newest and I feel like you will enjoy it based on this reaction. Enjoy the Home Free rabbit hole.
Thanks for the sub ❤ much appreciated
Helplessly hoping next
the group oriiginated in Wisconsin by founders brothers Chris Rupp and his brother Adam and tenor Rob Lundquist over time the members changed and the newer members Austin Brown tenor is from Georgia, Bass singer Tim Foust is a Texan and Adam Chance is a Floridian
Great music, great group. PROUD to be from the Deep South.
"A man of constant sorrows" is a old Bluegrass song, by Ralph Stanley, you really need to check that version out, the original version of this song.
