"Country singer singing a r&b blues type song." If that doesn't describe Chris Stapleton I don't know what does. The man doesn't really have a genre, but I think that's the best description ever.
You’re exactly right he’s from the hills of Eastern Kentucky, Born in Lexington but raised in Staffordsville Kentucky, We are so very proud of this young man, a really wonderful person!!
THANK YOU for doing this one again! You BOTH are fun to watch! It's really difficult to "classify" Chris Stapleton into a specific genre of music. But I don't really care! He's great no matter what genre he's in! Thank you again!
The more I listen to "Cold"... the more I get serious Ready Charles vibes... especially with the orchestra strings in the background. Stapleton is just amazing.
This is the first time I ever heard Chris Stapleton. I'm old school and outlaw country, (Hank Williams Sr, George Jones, Marty Robbins, Hank Jr, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, David Allen Coe). I gotta hear more of Chris Stapleton. Man that was good. I felt that. Been there.
Oh man, there's so much to discover with Chris Stapleton ! "ARKANSAS" LIVE AT CMT AWARDS "NOBODY TO BLAME" LIVE AT CMA AWARDS "WHISKEY AND YOU" LIVE AT CMA AWARDS "EITHER WAY" LIVE AT CMA AWARDS "WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TOO" LIVE AT RADIO STATION AND OF COURSE "TENNESSEE WHISKEY" LIVE AT AUSTIN CITY LIMITS... just a few for a start❤
lol my first thought as well. But then Vince isn't todays "Country". We are old. So are Vince and the Eagles. The high lonesome sound is niche nowadays.
Thank you so much! I have heard of Chris Stapleton in passing, but never listened to him, but I am BLOWN AWAY!!! WOW!!! Someone mentioned that he has a cover for. "It's a man's world" and I can't wait to hear that!!! Please let us hear it. 🙏🏼😊
This is generally my thoughts on Chris 'blues, southern rock, rockabilly, bluegrass, country (85% Outlaw Country/15% 'Mainstream' Country), soul' all together, there's an element of each of those in his body & soul. I know why he's classified Country, I just don't think there's a box to put him in 100%
I find it funny that he says he looks like ZZ Top but sounds nothing like em, but Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top has a really raspy voice like Chris. ZZ Top is also a big musical influence of Chris'.
That's the best way to listen to music. You either like it or you don't. It doesn't matter what they look like. Chris can sing an old country ballad or a R&B Soul Blues song.
Chris Stapleton is so amazing! Old school country and blues are truly enmeshed together at the heart of it all. I am happy that Chris brings both to the table in such a phenomenal way.
Chris Stapleton is not really a country singer, he's a blues singer that sings some country songs. Listen to most of his songs, blues or heavily blues influence.
LoL ... 'That band is SICK!, that band is Sick...' ... *Mr. L Boyd glances to the camera with that knowing grin* 'Oh, is that right?' Hahahhahahaha. Love it, man.
What a fun way to introduce someone to Chris Stapleton's music. Be sure to tell your cousin when he listens to Tenn. Whiskey it' should be the live version from Austin City Limits.
Mr. L Boyd, THANK YOU .. thank you, for introducing me to Chris Stapleton !! I'll be going down the Stapleton rabbit hole in the coming time. Absolutely amazing music and artist. Loved your reaction and face when the guitar solo hit at 5:35 :D
Has he ever heard Tennessee Whiskey or Sometimes I cry? Would love to see his reaction to them too if he hasn't. This feels like a cover just like Tennessee Whiskey is a cover of David Allen Coe's Tennessee Whiskey.
Wilson Pickett is one of my favorite soul singers and I think his voice is raspy. Chris's guitar playing reminds me of B.B. King in this song and I love B. B. also
hahaha...i just watched your video all the way thru...from beginning to end......and in the end, you mention David Allen Coe. LOL...my bad! I thought I was giving some info and educating people I am NOT the only person who has this experience, but my second husband and I chose Tennessee Whiskey as the song we danced to at our wedding in 2016. I still get chill bumps when I hear his version.
What a great reaction! Your cousin is a great addition! And I've seen a few of these Cold reactions, and it occurs to me that Mr. Stapleton must be a Gary Moore fan. Great song, great video!
If you look up his songs...you need to watch all the live versions, Chris kills it Live just like he did with Cold. Tennessee Whiskey Austim City Limits Live performance
Chris was a long time song writer for many top stars hit songs , finally he sang them hisself he sings (Tennessee whiskey )another great one of his is ( you should probably leave ) and the best is the ( national anthem at the Super Bowl. It was epic so good him and Whitney did it the best he had the player ms crying
A little trivia about Chris Stapleton - he originally moved to Nashville to major in engineering at Vanderbilt University but left at some point to pursue his passion in music.
Mr. B, I can’t believe how much pleasure it gave me to watch your face watching your cousin. Your smile lit up my night and your cousin was amazing! He really nailed the most important aspects of the song. I loved it and I hope you do more.
As strange as it may seem, there is a well defined connection between country and R&B soul. Mr. Stapleton has that sound that is close to the STAX sound.
Okay!!! This has to be one of the best top 3 videos I’ve watched on your channel. Loved his reaction and your reaction watching his reaction!!! Of course I will always listen to anything by Chris Stapleton ❤️❤️🔥🔥
This song reminds me of the soundtrack from a 90s movie titled Rush. Most of the sounds were written and performed by Eric Clapton. Great movie and even greater soundtrack. Included Grammy award winning Tears in Heaven.
You really need to see him in concert! He's awesome. I saw him and I don't even know how many different guitars he played. Sounds just like his recordings. Dude is real!
You have to get him on film with Tennessee Whiskey and any other Stapleton songs he gets into. I saw him live a year and change ago and he is just as good live as his album recordings which is obvious in this recording, but to be there in the stadium was another level.
Chris Stapleton is absolutely soulful! But also, thanks to his Tennessee Whiskey, I found acapella group Voiceplay who covered it. Incredible. I'm devoted to both Chris and VoicePlay! Who, by the way, has low bass singer, Geoff Castellucci who goes "sub harmonic."
One of my favorite artists AND song. Thanks for sharing. You haven’t done a Gabriel Henrique reaction lately. With Christmas around the corner I’d love to see your reaction to his cover of Oh Holy Night or perhaps introduce your cousin to his cover of I wanna know what love is. You’d really blow his mind with that voice. Please and TIA ❤
music history - in case anyone who DIDN'T already know this fact about Chris Stapleton's catalogue of songs.... his "Tennessee Whiskey" is a remake of David Allen Coe's. Listen to both - VASTLY. DIFFERENT. SOUNDS. TELLING. THE. SAME. STORY.
Hearing this, I can honestly see Stapleton singing the next James Bond film opening credits sequence.
He would be great for that!
The orchestra is what's makes the bond sound
"Country singer singing a r&b blues type song." If that doesn't describe Chris Stapleton I don't know what does. The man doesn't really have a genre, but I think that's the best description ever.
😊
Agreed, the guy lives in no musical box.
Ray Charles was a R&B singer that sometimes sang country
Exactly!
To be fair this is a straight up blues song. It doesn't get more blues
Chris is his own genre. He is ALL of it!!!
You’re exactly right he’s from the hills of Eastern Kentucky, Born in Lexington but raised in Staffordsville Kentucky, We are so very proud of this young man, a really wonderful person!!
I don't know if you've seen it, or if your cousin has, but Chris Stapletons, Sometimes I Cry, is amazing.
Yea man..the very early live version of it is one of the greatest live performances of all time
CrrrrrYyyyyyyYyyy
Live at the Bing Lounge, just Chris and his guitar, singing Sometimes I Cry.
If Al Green came out with this song in the 70's no one would have batted an eye, and it would have been a number one hit.
Cousin has a really good ear. He guessed a lot right while blind folded!
Chris Stapleton music pull feelings from deep inside your soul. You get chills and tears while he is expressing his hurt.
You also need to check out Chris' "I Was Wrong" and his cover of "it's a Man's World". No doubt would make James Brown proud.
Love Chris Stapleton, and this was a fun way to watch a reaction video!
Been there.
Try listening to him with The Steeldrivers, especially If it Hadn't Been for Love.
Oh man, there's so much to discover with Chris Stapleton !
"ARKANSAS" LIVE AT CMT AWARDS
"NOBODY TO BLAME" LIVE AT CMA AWARDS
"WHISKEY AND YOU" LIVE AT CMA AWARDS
"EITHER WAY" LIVE AT CMA AWARDS
"WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TOO" LIVE AT RADIO STATION
AND OF COURSE "TENNESSEE WHISKEY" LIVE AT AUSTIN CITY LIMITS...
just a few for a start❤
You'll like him, those guys would have.
So far he has nailed Angelina Jordan being a kid and Chris Stapleton being a country singer. Pretty good ear, I'd say.
He got Pete and Bas being older guys too
BB King and many other blues singers have the rasp. Chris sounds more country because of his twang.
“Country male singer don’t go to high” -Vince Gill is offended 😂
lol my first thought as well. But then Vince isn't todays "Country". We are old. So are Vince and the Eagles. The high lonesome sound is niche nowadays.
so is Chris 😆.....the vocal runs this man does, wow!
Bryan White
Vince Gill ❤
Imagine him hearing Ralph Stanley.
Thank you so much! I have heard of Chris Stapleton in passing, but never listened to him, but I am BLOWN AWAY!!! WOW!!! Someone mentioned that he has a cover for. "It's a man's world" and I can't wait to hear that!!! Please let us hear it. 🙏🏼😊
Your choice has changed my mind about Country Western music. I’m in love with his music
I love this series of videos you do with your cousin
😊
@RuppleberryReactz I will be checking out your new channel too
Seems like you have a good relationship with your cousin. Good cousins are a Godsend. Loved that you introduced him to Chris.
You should do this more often. I love his reaction to Chris. I love things like this.
This is generally my thoughts on Chris 'blues, southern rock, rockabilly, bluegrass, country (85% Outlaw Country/15% 'Mainstream' Country), soul' all together, there's an element of each of those in his body & soul. I know why he's classified Country, I just don't think there's a box to put him in 100%
Wow, Cous nailed it! Except for the singer and guitarist being different people. Loved this
Was a lead singer for the bluegrass band The Steeldrivers. Then also had a rock band called The Jompson Brothers also.
Dude you guys are great together, you’re on to something here. Keep up the great content
Chris Stapletons the TRUE SYMBOL OF A FREEMANS SOUL..NO VIOLENCE BUT SOUNDFUL WORDS BACKED UP W MUSIC.
If you’re gonna play Chris Stapleton for someone who’s not heard him before you got to hit ‘em with “sometimes I cry” that’s the move.
Yes!
I find it funny that he says he looks like ZZ Top but sounds nothing like em, but Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top has a really raspy voice like Chris. ZZ Top is also a big musical influence of Chris'.
Make sure he also listens to Chris doing the National Anthem. Doesn’t have to necessarily be for this channel, but I think he’d appreciate that video.
This song shows the difference between violins in a song and fiddles in a song...Chris has the feels in everything he does...Great reaction.
Chris can certainly hit high notes. I would suggest the song "Higher" as proof
I love this blindfold stuff… ears hear many things the eyes don’t recognize.
Love the fact that Chris Stapleton has that orchestra behind him, reminds me of late '70s early '80s artist, such as the Bee Gee's (Too Much Heaven)
Whiskey it' should be the live version from Austin City Limits.
historically, country music gets it's sound from Southern (Black) blues, so you are on point with your "Genre" label/style of music/tone, etc...
Loved your brothers reaction...priceless!
🤩LOVE the idea of the blindfold - first listen!! especially to Chris Stapleton! Good job!
Mr. L Boyd, THANK YOU .. thank you, for introducing me to Chris Stapleton !! I'll be going down the Stapleton rabbit hole in the coming time. Absolutely amazing music and artist.
Loved your reaction and face when the guitar solo hit at 5:35 :D
Wow! That was Great!!! Thank you Mr. Boyd , I never heard him before so thank you!
Great reaction! You have a very bright cousin.
This song is absolutely amazing ❤❤❤❤ the guitar solo gives me chills EVERY SINGLE TIME!
Chris Stapleton wife Morgan is a great singer also, and they sing and write songs together a lot.
Has he ever heard Tennessee Whiskey or Sometimes I cry? Would love to see his reaction to them too if he hasn't. This feels like a cover just like Tennessee Whiskey is a cover of David Allen Coe's Tennessee Whiskey.
Wish I could have seen his reaction when Chris actually starts playing the guitar in the second verse. But awesome reaction.
Love the way you did this with cuz!
He is amazing. You have to make people feel what you feel inside. 💓
You have to show your cousin, Chris Stapleton's video "Think I'm In Love With You".
I want the whole world to watch that video and appreciate a love that lasts a lifetime
I don't even like country, and I love Chris Stapleton. Glad your cousin liked it too.
Wow what a great format.. I really enjoyed this Kudos to you sir... Hard to be fresh in this space you nailed it
Mr.. Boyd, Your Cousin is Psychic! and you have both great taste in music. Great video!
Check out his cover of It's a Mans World and Singing the National Anthem
Oh, you should’ve done Tennessee whiskey that song is🔥
Visually not what you picture, but a whole lot more. The best rendition of the National Anthem.
Wilson Pickett is one of my favorite soul singers and I think his voice is raspy. Chris's guitar playing reminds me of B.B. King in this song and I love B. B. also
Chris Stapleton is singing straight up stone-cold blues on this song.
hahaha...i just watched your video all the way thru...from beginning to end......and in the end, you mention David Allen Coe. LOL...my bad! I thought I was giving some info and educating people
I am NOT the only person who has this experience, but my second husband and I chose Tennessee Whiskey as the song we danced to at our wedding in 2016. I still get chill bumps when I hear his version.
What a great reaction! Your cousin is a great addition! And I've seen a few of these Cold reactions, and it occurs to me that Mr. Stapleton must be a Gary Moore fan. Great song, great video!
Great video! You and your cousin are entertaining together !!!
If you look up his songs...you need to watch all the live versions, Chris kills it Live just like he did with Cold. Tennessee Whiskey Austim City Limits Live performance
My favorite live show was CMA awards Chris Stapleton and Justin Beber! Blows my mind every time I watch it!
It was Justin Timberlake not beiber
It’s so awesome to see people will introduce to Chris for the first time
Chris was a long time song writer for many top stars hit songs , finally he sang them hisself he sings (Tennessee whiskey )another great one of his is ( you should probably leave ) and the best is the ( national anthem at the Super Bowl. It was epic so good him and Whitney did it the best he had the player ms crying
Love the video; would love to see more blindfolded reactions like this! Great idea man!
Chris is my favorite, and this is my favorite performance of his.
he described Chris' thang in real time. great ear
Your cousin is spot on with the raspy voice.
This is SICK start to finish THANK YOU SO MUCH your cuso got it bro Stapelton BADD ASS guys
A little trivia about Chris Stapleton - he originally moved to Nashville to major in engineering at Vanderbilt University but left at some point to pursue his passion in music.
Like these blindfolded reactions! Not sure if you will have more but if you do it surely deserves it's own playlist 😊
Mr. B, I can’t believe how much pleasure it gave me to watch your face watching your cousin. Your smile lit up my night and your cousin was amazing! He really nailed the most important aspects of the song. I loved it and I hope you do more.
He is an amazing guitarist, too.
OMG, YOU HAVE TO DO THIS AGAIN, BLINDFOLDED.
That was my first time hearing "Cold." Thank you.
It was my first time hearing this song too--it was fun to play along. : )
Turn your cuz on to Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake doing Tennessee Whiskey live at the CMA Awards. Out of this world performance!
This song reminds me of the soundtrack from a 90s movie titled Rush. Most of the sounds were written and performed by Eric Clapton. Great movie and even greater soundtrack. Included Grammy award winning Tears in Heaven.
I was on my way elsewhere, but had to stop in for this. What a voice.
Dude, your cousin is nailing these blind reactions.
Chris Stapleton is THE TRUTH 🔥🔥🔥
"If you don't appreciate country music, you should appreciate this orchestra" 💀💀🤣
You really need to see him in concert! He's awesome. I saw him and I don't even know how many different guitars he played. Sounds just like his recordings. Dude is real!
This is FUN! Thanks so much for doing these joint reactions. Loving watching this after work and you guys chilling and adventuring.
this type of serise should be a regular on your channel.
You have to get him on film with Tennessee Whiskey and any other Stapleton songs he gets into. I saw him live a year and change ago and he is just as good live as his album recordings which is obvious in this recording, but to be there in the stadium was another level.

This is great. Love the blindfold reaction. First time seeing this. Love it.
This is the first time I’ve heard this. DAAAMN!!
Me too!
Love Chris Stapleton's voice. Check out a tribute to Chris at the Academy Of Country Music with The War & Treaty singing Cold. Beautiful tribute!
