    Yes Beesley, they are completely acapella AND they do live shows. All 5 are tremendously talented on their own, but together PHENOMENAL. Thank you again for taking my suggestion. They do covers and originals. Some covers you might like End of the Road by Boys 2 Men, Mayday by Cam, Hillbilly Bone by Blake Shelton, Folsom Prison Blues by Johnny Cash. And you CAN'T go wrong with their Butt's Remix (it's a hilariously good compilation of all the "booty" songs) or their Country Fried Pop Medley. Enjoy your weekend!!! Cheers from Texas!

    Home Free is 100% acapella....no instruments....no sound machines. Yes, they do all of this live on tour. More Home Free and Pentatonix please.

      Yeah, they're good too. I miss Avi a lot, though. I think they lost a bit when he left. And if we're adding groups, add VoicePlay. Each of these groups have their own sound and play mostly in their own genre.

    Awe bless your heart. You have just fallen down the rabbit hole that is Home Free. Many people will comment and give you amazing details about these wonderful, humble young men, who average about 6'2" plus 2 inches of cowboy boot heels. I call them the A Capella giants. I just want to tell you it was filmed in Fairhope, Alabama, USA where my mama was born, and what you see behind them is call an Oak Alley where the oak trees form a natural archway over a road. Each tree had it's own echosystem with ferns, mosses, insects, lizards that are born, live and die upon their own oak tree. Some of the branches are so huge they eventually dip down to the ground in order to be supported. The Gator is a common thing in most Southern USA states. Down here in Florida they hang out on golf courses and people just play around them. Then there are the iguanas that --- if the temperature drops too low, go into stasis. The news casters announce ...... please don't disturb what may appear to be a dead iguana. As soon as they warm up they will get up and get own with their lives. No lie dude.

    Yes they perform this song in their live shows..but they have to use a looper to sustain the sound of the jaw harp which is made by Chance's voice. The cool thing about the live show is that the lead singer joins in to make two harmonicas at the same time. Home Free is amazing. Hmm...sounds like you might join the rest of us fans, or Home Fries.

  • @NanaRae2Three
    @NanaRae2Three 3 ปีที่แล้ว +142

    The guy singing lead is high tenor Austin Brown, one with beard and glasses is Rob Lundquist, one in orange hat is Adam Chance (goes by Chance). Chance is the one doing the mouth harp at the beginning and end. The base is Tim Foust and Adam Rupp (freak of nature) is the beatboxer. All sounds are made by them, no instruments. Check out some of their other covers as well as originals. Also, check out Adam’s drum solos. Yes, they do live shows and do many genres of music.

    • @karinfichtner7479
      @karinfichtner7479 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Adam Chance does the jew's harp sounds live on stage, but they use a "looper" to keep the sound going for long periods of time because Adam says it hurts his voice to do it too long.

    • @markedwards3647
      @markedwards3647 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      One interesting detail: Tim Foust's lower range goes below what is possible to show on the bass cleft.

    • @marytramp5678
      @marytramp5678 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@karinfichtner7479 which is why i will never go see them live. while i can respect that it hurts his voice to do it for long periods. and i can sypathize. it isn't just Chance's voice they tape and loop. it's mostly for Adam. so that't 2 of the 5 they are taping for. are you listening to a live perforance or a taped one? just food for thought. Even they know that with the use of a loop station they are no longer in the a capella genre, bc it is a type of musical instrumentation. when listening to their older live shows you will hear Tim introduce them as an a capella group. and he will go on to say, " for those who don't know what that means. it's a group of singers that aren't backed up by any instruments or electonic instuments. it's done by us" he doesn't say that anymore.. leads me to believe that even they know they have crossed that line.

    • @chrisb7198
      @chrisb7198 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@marytramp5678 Loopers just repeat the sound. The sound itself is still their voice so I think they are still acapella. Just like in most songs they are using layered tracks but the sounds are still just their voices. I'm not a musician so it's just my opinion. Peter Hollens does songs alone using layered tracks since all the sounds/voices are just him and he can't sing all parts at the same time. I think they are all just amazing however you want to classify it.

    • @marytramp5678
      @marytramp5678 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@chrisb7198 1)i understand that when making videos or records that layered trcks are a neccesity and are expected. 2) i also understand what looper is. it' a recording. it' not "live" When i go to see LIVE performance i expect to see a LIVE performance NOT a recorded one. 3) a capella does NOT include the use of electronics to enhance the performance, instrumentation. or RECORDINGS. i'm more than willing to over look i for the ssake of videos and records. people/consumers exect "perfection" for these things. i'm not willing to let it slide when it comes to a LIVWe all go to concerts to hear hem sing live and in person and we are not getting that when we listen to a recording of them. when the use recordings of their voices to enhance their performance they stop being an a capella group regardless of what the recording is. would you be willing to pay money to go see 5 men stand on stage and lip sync a concert? Probably not. But who's to say you aren't? we already know that they have already put on one concert using the looper in place of Chance. they have decades of perfecting lip syncing for videos. how many concerts can they get out of it before they need to do a fresh recording? from the second they started using the looper, they stopped being a a capella group.. that's fine. it DOESN"T take away from how talented they are. They DON'T have to pick a genre or type of musical group to be. but one thing they aren't is a capella. Even Tim doesn't introduce them as an a capella group anymore. that should tell you something right there. the actual definition of a capella is without musical accompaniment. a looper is a recorded musical accopanimant.

    I found these guys last year. This was the first song I ever heard from them & I was instantly hooked & became a homefry. The talent of these 5 men is insane. Together they are a perfect fit & complement each other so well. There bass singer Tim Foust is the best in the business & Adam Rupp their beatboxer extraordinaire can make any sounds & is in a class by himself. And yes they can reproduce all these songs & sounds live too.

    I’d like to pitch one of their songs that doesn’t get done on music reaction channels all the time. Please give Down to the Honkytonk a listen; here’s my reasons.
    1) They kept working hard throughout quarantine and put out some great stuff while all recording separately in their own homes. This is one of those.
    2) You get to see a taste of their personalities in a fun song.
    3) It’s an upbeat American Country song, probably different from anything you’ve heard.
    4) You see their home life, with three of their wives/girlfriends appearing in the video.

    Welcome to the a cappella rabbit hole, where I spent most of the pandemic. The big 3 are Pentatonix, Home Free, and VoicePlay. Though they all cross over, Pentatonix is primarily Pop, Home Free primarily Country, and VoicePlay does a lot of music from movies,TV, and theatre. I highly recommend them all! A note of warning for you as a reactor, some music gets automatically blocked. Pentatonix seems to get blocked a lot, but as far as I know, they unblock them if you go through the process. They are all fantastic, and are worth checking out, even if you don’t react to them. They are all ridiculously talented. I think the Pentatonix version of “Hallelujah” is the gold standard for that often-covered song.

    Yes all “a cappella”. Check out the NBC show the Sing Off which they won in 2013. It’s all live. The beatboxer is amazing. You can see a live video of him on TH-cam called Adam Rupp Drum Solo. All drums without drums…not kidding. Tim Foust is the bass with a 5 octave range so he can sing in the depths and sing up in the tenor range. They are country but sing all genres of music. They are all super talented and all can beatbox to a degree. Chance (also in the back row)was doing the mouth harp sound at the beginning and end of the song. This is an old song (over 100 years old) made famous in the movie O Brother Where Art Thou. Try Helplessly Hoping, One Man Band, In the Blood to hear more great harmonies. Good reaction Beesley.

    While they might have shown that they can all beat box, there are only two really making sounds in this one. One is doing the mouth harp sound heard at the beginning and one is doing the drum beat and the harmonica. No, he can't hold the drum beat and do harmonica at the same time, so this is layered vocally. Live they use a looper so, for instance, the mouth hard guy will sing a few bars and then it will be repeated. The beat boxer will do a few bars of drums then loop it so he can "play" the harmonica. No autotune used but the beat boxing uses a mic with some different compression (most mic's use some form of compression but live he often stands apart from the rest). They do the songs live and sound awesome.

      @@TheBeesleys99 They sing most any genre. However, with three of them being from the deep South (Texas, Georgia and Alabama) their voices lend themselves to country. The only thing I haven't heard them do is hard rock, obviously because of the instrumentals in rock music. One of the founding members of American country music picked up yodeling from a Swiss group and it now yodeling is synonymous with country music.

    They are a Country vocal band. However, they do wander off the Country reservation from time to time, with spectacular results. You might enjoy listening to their renditions of Auld Lang Syne, Helplessly Hoping, and (for sheer hilarity and fun), Country Fried Pop Medley.

    Other A Capella groups that are beyond amazing...like HF,are PTX,Voiceplay, & the Bass Gang.Home Free is country but they do MANY styles,they are each phanominal at what they do...the Bass Tim is incredible & has a 6 octive range,Adam the beat boxer is a champion at his craft & abilities, Austin the high Tenor has the most beautiful tone and his accent is awesome,Rob is the middle tenor with the perfect boy band vocals and a smooth middle range,and Adam Chance or Chance the baritone is also a bass and has a great range and a mellow tone that is so pleasant it should be a crime,plus Chance plays guitar!!😃

    I’m A Brit from Manchester and I’ve followed HomeFree for six years now and they can sing the phone book and make it sound great. If you like the beat boxer Adam Rupp I highly recommend you next try his “Adam Rupp Drum Solo”. During Covid they have kept us going by releasing a top class video every two weeks and have over 150 on they’re channel. Before covid they were doing over 200 shows a year and were part way though a European tour when covid struck, I had tickets for the Manchester leg can’t wait to see them live.

    So happy you found Home Free. The guys are amazing and any song you pick to react to will be amazing. People have given you information and I will add a tad more. Rob Lundquist is from Minnesota and so is Adam Rupp. Tim Foust from southeast Texas, Austin Brown from Georgia and Adam Chance from Alabama. If I am not mistaken this song was done in Alabama and the alligator is also Alabama raised. ;) Some songs have already been requested and they won't disappoint. Maybe try...Good Ol' Boy Good Time...fun...or...Friends in Low Places...a Garth Brooks cover...really good. Up to you. Liked and subscribed.

    FYI - No auto-tune! The only time I have ever heard auto-tune from PTX, HF, or VOICEPLAY is when PTX did an evo of 90's dance songs. It is obvious where they did it, and they were paying tribute a Cher song.
