I find it mildly ironic that a cheap Chinese multi-tool copied a cheap Chinese multi-tool... It copied most of its flaws, and added a few of its own lmao.
The NXT has a lanyard hole. It's plastic. Fits paracord well. Was there a ruler on the other side of the Bibury file? I carry a NXT in a mag pouch, works great, especially for summer use. The original Suspension, the NXT & the Bibury are at that great price point, which allows for heavy use, damage & loss.
Interesting! I don't own an NXT but here in the UK they are pretty reasonably priced at just under £37 which equates to $44, compare that to the LM Squirt PS4 at £45 ($54) and I'd probably recommend it over the Squirt...the scissors spring on my Squirt broke and even before that they had so much blade play you couldn't cut cotton thread or plastic sheeting with them, and forget about stuff like paracord. Those look like Fiskars style scissors on the NXT and they're not bad judging by my MP600 bladeless. Plus the 2D Phillips screwdriver on the Squirt is really soft and gets burred if you use it, the NXT at least has what looks like a reasonable PHillips. I know I'm comparing apples to pears and the NXT isn't US/European manufactured but for £37 I'd say it's probably not a bad budget/entry level choice, it gets consistently fairly good reviews...it's no Wave or Spirit X but it costs a third of the price.
Can you do a video on how the knipex twingrips, specifically how they can hold jigsaw blades and sawzall blades in the screw extractor jaws without modifications? I think they'd be a great alternative to the cobras for most people, you don't have to worry about not being able to loosen a faster against a flat surface. That dang button just ruined those pliers for me.
I liked my nxt as my first Multitool but I couldn’t pocket carry as the scissors cut my fingers on several occasions. It’s also just on the maximum size limit of a pocket carry. So it was restricted to sheath carry or backpack and there are so many better sheath carry options. As a pocket carry or even 5th pocket for some people! In my opinion nothing beats the Sog power pint or power litre if your okay with having shite scissors but making up for it with an amazing 1/4 in bit driver
Nothing much in the power pint size category any more. Only significantly smaller like keychain or full-size. I used to carry the leatherman juice with a diy pocket clip but someone stole it on a job site
I own the NXT and do a lot of hiking, so the 1 oz. less weight is a plus (ounces=pounds, pounds=pain). But I can see owning a couple of Biburys to throw in cars and have around the house
Thank you for the video! I did notice from the Amazon link to the Gerber, that one of the pictures shows cutting through leather with what looks like the Awl tool from the NXT instead of the Awl tool shown in the picture of all the tools on the Gerber.
Interesting comparison. I wonder if you were to use red lock tight! If it would tighten up everything on both. It probably would make both better multi tools!
Hi Thanks for the brilliant comparison, just stopped me from buying some gerber products from Ali Express Are the gerber clutch and shortcut being sold on ali express fake? Can you advise please. Seller saying they are made out of Gerber factory Thanks
I had an NXT Suspension, quite a chunky heavy thing for about two years and it’s what started me down the EDC path…lost it over this past New Years and while I can easily get another…I need something else. this should do it
Contents from this video lead me to.. assumption that this B/Bury actually made in the same factory as for Gerber from.. parts initially expected to put in Gerber NXT(or other compartible multitools) but at some point - rejected by Gerber.. quality control as defective(or not good enough) batches. Otherwise I don't see any other logical explanation that some parts look completely identical. If at some point factory.. accumulated some amount.. rejected\defected various parts of this that can't be sold to Gerber for it's production. When..(logic) let's make and sale cheaper multitool from accumulated surplus parts.
The comparison deals with tools, shapes and features. Do you have information also about component materials and how they compare: hardness, wear properties, corrosion resistance. Are they about equal in quality? Thanks.
I just got one of the Bibury's and have it on my belt now! I also own the NXT. This Bibury is not a clone of the NXT, but it is close! The scissors are different and the ones on the Bibury are a little tricky to close. They seem similar in quality, but I have not used the Bibury enough to really test it. The Bibury is a little heavier but I do not care about the weight of multitools for the most part. It came with a sheath and I think the NXT should have also. I also have another Amazon tool that is very heavily inspired by the Gerber Truss but do not remember the brand off the top of my head!
My first multitool wad a Gerber I can't remember the exact name of it and I still have it. But my issue with gerber has always been how big the gap HD always been between the handles. But I do very much so like the lock system they use. When I originally got my first gerber it was somewhere around $60 or $70 and that was many year's ago.
I have a question totally unrelated to this video but since it's new hopefully somebody can shred some light. I have a Leatherman Wave I got around 2008 from a friend that says "pat pend" with 0402B inside where the scissors fold and in the other side 0602BA. I was able to find the lanyard ring thanks to this channel's videos which is really awesome!
Does Gerber have.. visually similar model.. released 20 years ago? First release of similar(or not similar - I am not an expert) Gerber Suspension was on 2005 (as far as I can see in search results from Google query). A am asking because.. When in 2018 Leatherman's patents for Wave started to expire it's 20 year period (counted from 1st gen Wave - released on 1998 ) - we started to see release of numerous clones of Wave multitools from various "minor" manufacturers/brands. On practice - look just like original one of Leatherman's bestselling Wave model and.. more questions about quality of that "clone" models. From my understanding.. from other comments I saw on other channels. Current "mass clone invasion" - is consequence of expiration of 20 years patent.. (US patent law?) protection period that previously granted to original inventors of this tools.
@@maxlvledc I can't say for sure as I am not an expert in patent law. Example of Leatherman Wave clones that started to appear in significant numbers close to 20 years after release of 1st gen Wave is noteable because (as far as I know) - Leatherman produce it's production only in US. Meanwhile other brands(including Gerber) have practice of ..moving it's production lines to.. other well known countries/jurisdictions (most likely to reduce price for it's production) and It has additional risk that manufacturer from that country.. may not respect US patent law (and use it's blueprints separately outside contracts with "inventor" brands).
I haven’t purchased anything from Gerber for more than twenty years and I don’t plan to ever do so again, but I still don’t like the idea of cloning them or anyone else. Simply put, it’s theft from the original company. There is absolutely no honor in stealing designs from others.

Hahaha....apparently that is an ambitious copier without full deck😂.
Ganzo similar.
Not a fan of having music in the background during your videos, but am the fan of your videos!
Yea, lose the music!

Looks worth it especially the 19 titanium color way

What do they weigh in grains.
Garmin Instinct FTW!

I feel like Gerber suspension/ Bear Grylls MTs have been cloned for a long time. Especially some of the Ganzo early MTs.
Hi
Thanks for the brilliant comparison, just stopped me from buying some gerber products from Ali Express

Hey man, do you think they buy Factory Blemished tools for cheap , change a few things and Sell it as their own!? Just a thought I had.🔨👍😁👍🔧
I had an NXT Suspension, quite a chunky heavy thing for about two years and it’s what started me down the EDC path…lost it over this past New Years and while I can easily get another…I need something else. this should do it
possibly done by the same factory?
Very possible

Same metal for components, no idea on HT.
The lanyard hole is built into the black plastic on the nxt
The Gerber is my choice of the 2.

Run it in a pistol mag pouch.
The black plastic piece on nxt is a lanyard loop

Music was a good touch
Just ordered the g10 for 19 im a knife guy soooo how could i not check it out 😊
where can buy the clone one?
Link in Description
3 pack of Gerber knives found at Sam’s club clearance $12.
Owns 2,000 knives...rips box open with fingers
I RIP my cardboard boxes by hand too lol. I've never understood the need to cut them with knives...especially non-utlity knives.
Will you be testing the new Gerber Ambar variants when they are available?
Probably not
@Maxlvledc Sounds good, until they make the screwdriver locking I don't see the value in them.
I have a question totally unrelated to this video but since it's new hopefully somebody can shred some light.

Nice >>>> Thank you
16 bucks is my price 😅😅
Love these videos
No need for Gerber warranty. Just buy 2 Biburys instead of one NXT.
Buy the knockoff, there’s a good chance it’s better than the Gerber… there’s no way it could be worse.
I'll buy that bibury from ya

Truth is they’re probably both made in the same factory
Fir $16 …. The Bibury kills the Gerber!
lol thats crazy your paying for the name on this one so yah thats cool i would go with the cheaper one for sure lol since there the same tool
Is the clone better quality 😆 lol !

Imo after the statute of limitations (20 years) its fair game and companies SHOULD copy good ideas. But with the NXT clone..not sure it's the same.
It feels like a mini-series (potentially “Clone Wars”…?) is just practically writing itself, here. :D
truth
Gerber schrade Kershaw all overpriced sub standard equipment
agreed except for Kershaw, they are pretty good especially the USA made stuff.
👍🏼
Kkkkkk
