- Here we have a comparison between the older Gerber Suspension, and the newer model Gerber Suspension NXT. #gerbergear @GerberGear
00:00 Comparison preface
02:55 Gerber Suspension
07:27 Gerber Suspension NXT
13:35 Struggling with the NXT locks
14:09 Side by side comparison
15:54 Side by side quality issues
16:58 Thumb studs
The older Suspension multi-tool, is a great budget/beginner tool with 12 tools, easy to use locking mechanism, well thought out tool choices, thumb studs for easy deployment of tools, and a comfortable grip. The downside, is the original Suspension is discontinued, although, they can be still found just about everywhere that Gerber gear is sold. On a side note, all of my original Gerber Suspensions came with sheaths.
The newer Suspension NXT, has 15 tools, is a tad longer than its predecessor, and a bit lighter. Unfortunately the NXT has lost many of the good traits the original version had, and the one in this review is unusually poor quality for a Gerber product. So I'm not sure if I received some kind of knock-off, or someone was asleep in the factory when mine was produced.
Also the NXT model does not come with a sheath, most likely due to the added belt clip.
Either way, this video shows the difference between the tools, with pro's and cons.

I have both. I find myself carrying & using the original Suspension more than the NXT. Because 2 blades & a saw. All the tools on the original i find easier to deploy.
I agree, the original suspension is better.
I have a new NXT and it's not sloppy like yours is, I haven't used it much, but it'll do the trick. thanks for your video!
Great to hear! I tend to have bad luck when it comes to newer gear.
Nice
Hi Mate, great video ,you are right ,the suspension is a good designed MT comfortable to hold and work, , with the size,Price,Wt compared to other over pricey leatherman Arc $500 and other cheap clones ,have 2 of them and 1NXt, Got them when they were available 3 years ago,
Only it lacks a File ,still no complaint and it functions well.Surprisingly can't see them.seling here any more in Australia.
Thanks 👍
That ruler is such a lazy addition. They could have just put numbers in any other tool and it would be the same thing but without wasting space.
I agree, its a missed opportunity.
I too like separate blades
I have both. But i prefer the nxt
May I ask why you like the NXT better?
@@Survival-gyver because it's lighter, it has a clip on it, it's 1 handed open
I agree on the clip, though it wasn't meant to be 1 hand opening, that's just a result of it being so loose. Either way, I hope they serve you well for many years to come
I kinda like the blade selection on the suspension.
I agree
