I remembered the line of judge "you can't come to court every time you get slapped by your husband". This hurts deep.

Ikr honestly the whole world has let women down. Women don't have support from their own parents or even the legal system which are both supposed to stand by you and protect you from evil and provide justice. I'm not surprised that women don't report, everyone knows at this point that our judicial system sucks and the judges are also biased. There's literally no point of some laws that are progressive even.

If a young couple kiss at a public place, a mob will be formed, their parents will be called and their morality will be questioned.
If a man beats his wife in that same place, people will assume that the wife did something wrong and she deserves it.
If a woman beats her husband in that same place, husband's manhood will be questioned and he will be insulted even after he dies.
Moral:- Introduce tight slap as a form of PDA in your relationship and you will never be disturbed in public places.

Unmarried or married couple kissing outside in public comes under the obscenity act and though this act is not well defined it is still punishable in the court of law .
If a man beats his wife or gets beaten by his wife , or even two men or women fight in public , these are both forms of assault, you as an educated person should ask them to stop and if they don’t you are privileged to report it to the authorities.

According to me, the most important rule for a beautiful relationship is respect, listening and freedom.
Respect - When you give respect to others, others will do the same.
Listening - Listen well to what others are saying and understand them with no biasing because when we listen we understand more and this applies to everything in this beautiful world.
Freedom - Give the other person some space and don't act like an intruder, let them do what they want and if they are doing something wrong then communicate with them.
According to me these things will bring more peace and happiness in life.

Abuse in any form should be a red flag in a relationship. It's ironic how people tell women that they should put up with abuse for the sake of "izzat". Sadly domestic violence continues to be a harsh reality of our country, and it is extremely common and underreported at the same time.
And then we have some people who call treating women with respect as being a simp. Its called being normal, it is nothing to be ashamed of, and it is nothing to be proud of. No person respectful towards the other commits an act of violence. I've seen my parents married for 20 years, never seen huge fights or violence. Yes, they do have disagreements but that doesn't mean they have to start a cutthroat argument or violence for it. A few of my uncles however do inflict violence on their wives. One even considers his wife to be a subordinate. I think a lot of this comes down to how a person is. Dismissing an act of domestic violence by any person as a family matter is stupid since the fact that the person has inflicted violence on any other person means that he /she will do it again to someone else. It's a psychological issue that needs to be resolved. I have always seen my parents laugh more than fight, and I'm glad it is this way.

As a survivor of domestic violence I can speak from a victims point of view. Mentally sick cruel conniving men are supported by others of the same kind. The mothers sisters and family of such men are equally responsible. He is an ex army officer Sr das a Bengali, who said that he married a woman from the Hindi belt since Bengali women are too strong. I am 52 married to an American man now. But those memories still haunt me I get flash backs and have been diagnosed with PTSD. My career is gone. Our society does not take this crime seriously. In fact I have heard quite a few "women" "friends" say things like you should get over it. I wish hope and pray something similar happens to someone near and dear to them

It's not just a slap or a Gaali.. But it's the thinking behind that abuse with which men think they have some kind of birthright to discipline or control women.
Change won't come unless women bring the change themselves. Don't fear "log kya bolenge" and "ghar ki izzat". Stand up for yourself and do WHATEVER it takes to be free from a violent household. Because if you're abused in the house which you think as your home, it's not really your "home".
EDIT: this applies to men too, who are a victim of domestic violence.

He didn't apologized and was trying to get her wife's attention by acting ill. Even after that when she tried to heal herself he was forcing her to move back to him. This is so common. In my family my whenever my father is in a bad mood, he comes up with stupid problems deliberately and beats my mom to death. He even takes large amount of money from my mom and doesn't return it and instead he says that my mom has taken all his earnings. But the most sad part is that my mom always keeps a happy face around me and never complain against him. I am now studying in 11th standard and my dad keeps on telling me that if my mom is in the house then I will never be successful. I literally hate my dad, and in front of relatives he threatens us that we need to behave like a happy family, basically me and my mom just act in front of them that we are a cheerful family when basically we are not. I am really writing this with tears in my eyes, I have understood now that I need to get a job and with my salary I need to free my mom from the hell we are living in. I sometimes feel difficult to concentrate in my studies as all the memories of my dad beating my mom keeps flashing in my mind. I cry silently. In this comment section I am basically getting freedom to write whatever pain my mind has saved.

And this is terrible because women whose partners don't beat them are regarded as "lucky" and are expected to overlook all their other faults and try harder to be "a good wife".

Sometimes, even girls family members are involved in normalisation of Domestic abuse and violence.
Repeated comments that you will be domestically abused in your husband's house, or abusing them...Also has a deep impact

I come from an educated upper middle class background- both my parents and in-laws are well educated. I watched the movie thappad with my in laws and husband. A day later, my MIL declared that even though nobody should abuse their spouse the movie was not good because divorcing because of one slap was excessive.

I faced domestic violence from my father. Next day morning I went to police station to make a complaint and warn my father. They did it, but my mother was like u ruined family reputation. Indian women are least bothered about domestic violence but they wanna save their husbands name and reputation. This is kinda shitty!!😡
I would say if u r not fighting for urself and your happiness then that's the weakness & bad behaviour. Self love & self respect is more important in one's life. If people are more concerned about reputation then they should not cause any harm to other people. " For every reaction there is equal and opposite reaction".

You are a child of your father still you can't take some beating from them, it was normal for Indian kids to get beaten lightly by parents before few years. You could have taught him or show him some videos but you are fragile and weak, so you filed complain against him.

@@factshouse3690 just shut up. U r normalising the domestic violence again. By the way I'm 28 yrs old I know what is good and bad and I know to make how people to treat me but not causing domestic violence. Father / mother whoever has done a mistake is a mistake. You cannot do the same thing in America they have separate law for this because they knew it will harm and put kids/ people under Lifetime depression. This is why India is in the list of depressive countries.
