Is Math related to science? It’s not like we’re blaming her, but the system. She was growing up hearing that fair = beautiful, so she automatically says thank you like if she was called pretty. People still have to realise the amount of privilege they have, people in power can bring the most of change.
The actress said "Thank you" at 5:40 when the reporter called her "very fair". It verifies how fair skin is considered better or that being fair is something to be proud of. Colorism is prevalent in Indian society and it's gonna take a long time to change people's mindset.
Not only that, be she denies profoundly that actors use skin lighting creams acting super surprised saying that is not true. She wants people to believe they are naturally that fair, but then the guy comments that they get their makeup done to look fairer, totally contradicting what she said. At least he was being honest..

My Vietnamese mother is obsessed about keeping her skin fair. She wears hats and masks and covers her face with an object if she is caught without protection. This bias and business is booming in east and Southeast Asia as well. The interviewer tells the girl that she's fair and the girl says "noooooooo, but thank you so much." So it's a compliment in the girl's perspective but in reality it wasn't a compliment....it was a statement.
In Western leftist feminist anti-white reality, it was a statement. But, in Asian reality, it was a compliment. As fair basically means a beauty Goddess who is more likely to get dicks and attention.
When I was born my mom told me that my relatives came to see me and they said: "How this dark skinned woman gave birth to a light skin baby" they were shocked! relatives are wolves in sheep's clothing!
True. I've experienced this in another way. My mom is very fair skinned despite being brown, like she's almost pale.. and I also inherited that, but not as pale. People would always tell me I look like my mom, that I was beautiful, pretty, etc. Personally, I don't look like her at all, I look more like my father if anything. But when my sister was born (different father), she was born dark skinned.. I was around 8 or 9, so I remember how people kept talking about how dark skinned she was. Whenever we were at relatives or gatherings, people would always make that comparison, they would say I looked like my mom and then for my sister they would talk about her skin. Nobody has ever said that my sister looked like anyone in our family. But my mom legitimately looked exactly like her when she was young. So.. why? And I realized because were being prejudiced and discriminatory, just because of her skin color despite being family/relatives. It's messed up and sad.

My grandmother was an extremely fair skinned Indian woman and I considered my family to be a pretty progressive family. She went on to marry my grandpa who was a tall, dark and a handsome man. So when she happened to tell me (a dark skinned woman) that she likes my sister better because she was fair, i was taken aback. And this happened just about a year ago. I then started connecting the dots and saw a pattern - when I was younger and given lesser candy than my fairer American cousins, i was looked down upon. When I was given lesser affection than my fairer skinned sister, I was also looked down upon. I realized that it doesn't matter whether you come from the richest or the poorest household, you're still discriminated against in your own family in minute ways which mentally torment you, silently. Luckily enough, my mum wouldn't pay heed to this 'fair skin obsession' and abolished the same within our home. For that, I am so grateful.

You can compare how much more youthful very dark skinned people appear to very fair people when they reach middle age and older, and in the US where people live in the same area the difference is very apparent. *No skin color is better than another*, but if people developed a preference it would be more logical for it to be darker skin since we would look youthful for longer. There is of course the benefit of fair skin absorbing vitamin D better, but this can be supplemented in the diet. I just wish people everywhere were allowed to feel comfortable in their own skin instead of having fairness arbitrarily held as ideal in so many places around the world

This word "fair" as its being used today has been redefined as meaning light,(as opposed to dark), As in the term, fair skin, as in, "she is a fair skin person". When someone says this what they are trying to say, (according to the current redefinition of the word fair) is that the person has a light complexion. This is a absolute redefinition of the word "fair". This word "fair" never meant to have light complexion or light hair. Never once in any literature dating 100-150 years before now,(including the bible) is the word "fair" used as a description in regard regard to color. This redefinition in and of itself has deep implications and strong undertones of racism. To imply by redefinition that something or someone is fair because they are of a lighter complexion is subliminally degrading those of darker complexion. That's to say those of darker complexions are unfair and ugly. In India, this is being done as a prolonged form of colonial racism just as it is in Africa and Latin countries where "white",(actually various shades of red) people have colonized the people, land and culture. WAKE UP PEOPLE ....
@@guestspinelli2435 I don't think the word fair and the subliminal meaning it may carry is the reason for Indian beauty standard being lighter skinned. In my opinion it has to do with the geography of the nation. In many Asian countries pale skin is seen as more beautiful because poor people have to work outside for living, which leads to unavoidable skin tanning. The correlation being that if you have light skin, it means you have enough wealth that you don't need to work in the rice fields. Wealth is the real beauty standard here. Same reason people buy expensive brand clothing. I come from Finland, and we have a lot of white people here. Over here the beauty standard is to be more tanned. Because it shows that you have enough wealth to travel abroad to some warmer nation with sun shine. You get a nice tan while in that country, and then come home to your pale ass homeboys who get jealous just imagining the warm weather conditions you came from when they see your tan.
@@guestspinelli2435 I don't think the way we use "fair" in particular is that bad compared to how people call eachother "black" and "white". I'm a Sri Lankan who's considered light-skinned for my ethnicity. One of my good friends growing up had deep, dark skin and was constantly bullied by our school teacher and class for it. She used to be called 'kalu kaputa' (black crow) and was told she should wash her face more often to wash off the 'blackness'. She was very easy-going and took the jeering well but I could see that it really hurt her. I never joined in the jokes but I wish I'd stood up for her back then. The same teacher used to call me pretty just because of my light skin tone despite my friend being objectively waaaay prettier than me. These beauty standards are infuriatingly toxic.
I am wondering if a couple in India, Sri Lanka etc where beauty is measure by skin color gets married would they not consider the RISK of procreating and having a child with a dark skin color and having this human being plague with a life of prejudice, mocking, and pain and moreover many parents are dissatisfied and ashamed of their kid's skin color. The married couple KNOWS THE RISK AND POSSIBILITY of having a dark child based on their family skin color background thus, WHY CONCEIVE in such society? WHY RISK having a DARK CHILD in such society and be dissatisfied? WHY BRING TO SUCH SOCIETY A HUMAN BEING that will suffer the consequences of the parents GENETIC MATERIAL? I am a white girl who spent 3 months travelling all around India and it was extremely noticeable. So many times kids would touch my arms and feel my skin. All the lotions, soaps, and sun creams had lightening products in them. In fact, in India and Indonesia it was very difficult to find them without, It was sad to see as to me, dark skin is beautiful and absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. My Indian friend (who is from a wealthy family) said that when she was born, her mother was disappointed in how dark her baby's (my friends) skin was, and that was coming from a high caste still.

Melanin as also very protective and reduces the damage to skin and even DNA deeper in your body from radiation. You can compare how much more youthful very dark skinned people appear to very fair people when they reach middle age and older, and in the US where people live in the same area the difference is very apparent. *No skin color is better than another*, but if people developed a preference it would be more logical for it to be darker skin since we would look youthful for longer. i as an indian feel ashamed when i hear people asking how fair is the new born before even bothering to know about mother and kid's health.
This word "fair" as its being used today has been redefined as meaning light,(as opposed to dark),
As in the term, fair skin, as in, "she is a fair skin person".
Lol
@@guestspinelli2435 I don't think the way we use "fair" in particular is that bad compared to how people call eachother "black" and "white". There's so much symbolism in our history about black = evil and white = good. Despite most people having pinkish skin or brown skin, we decide to use these very polarizing 1 dimensional words instead. Us vs them.

To all the actors and actresses endorsing fair skin and advertising products for the same, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Sumith Bhat to everyone who gets married / engaged using a diamond should be ashamed of their self as well
@@davidjr3769 And that's why I went with moissanite
fishslab nice 👍🏽
@@davidjr3769 what does that have to do with a belief and hate of brown skin that is rooted in that society, people are literally being rejected from jobs because of the colour of their skin and you're comparing it to proposing with a dimond? Watching an 'adam ruins everything' video doesnt make you smart.
Anus twist they both are pushed by major corporations to make more money for the company with out care for the public
I'm a spanish girl that i always hang out with Indian people, see Bollywood series and films and try to learn everyday from this precious culture they have, i must say that we always say they are SO BEAUTIFUL and attractive, I love them and the darker skin the cutter they are!!
This is disgusting. Every race should be proud of who they are.
everyone should respect everyone else's culture...even if that culture is into fair skins
@@ORYZAAMANS-dc4se
Hmmm...
Even if the people _within_ that culture are the last people considered to be hired for a job because of their natural skin color?
Even if the people within that culture bleaching their skin to look like a race they weren't born as are likely pushing colorism on their own children to harm their skin and look like them too?
No, everyone should not respect a culture that is hateful and disrespectful to their own and other dark-skinned people.
What an ignorant statement.
@@HellBrat i respect ur opinion on this subject...i hope u can do the same with people with different cultures than urs.
remember, everything u said can be vise versa...for instance "everyone should not respect people like u...people that don't respect other people's cultures"...
u c my point?!
@@ORYZAAMANS-dc4se
I don't.
I don't mind if no one respects me for not respecting a harmful culture. It doesn't affect me whatsoever, as my belief doesn't affect _it._ What I believe in doesn't contribute to hardship in several of my own people's lives.
@@ORYZAAMANS-dc4se That's NOT Indian culture. What you see there is a centuries old slave mentality to western beauty standarts. But i assume you're white so.....yeah
"you think I'm fair? Thank you!" wow, those papa by chance actors are in complete denial
An she's brown
Skin lightening nahi chahiye B.C. Dark is beautiful 😍
OMG it's mr.Rock himself.
😂
My man, speaking the language of Gods... 😅
Hello Dosto. Good to see you guys here. I really hate these skin lightening products and the people who promote them.
😁 😁
It is happening everywhere, even in the US & Canada although the people bleaching their skin will not admit it even though it is obvious.
@Kaleina lifestyle. What does that mean? Lol These stories are coming from people within thier own cultures..I just said it is happening everywhere even in North America meaning within the culture of the people doing it. It is not Canada promoting or encouraging anyone to do this. If anything, Canada encourages people to be free to be themselves.
No it’s not
I'm a Sri Lankan who's considered light-skinned for my ethnicity.
The teacher called her that too?
I am surprised the teacher call her names...that was uncalled for.
I find it very unfair for the person who is born in such society; they are dark skin due to the parents DNA yet they pay the consequences of an unfair society due to the PARENTS CHOICE TO REPRODUCE WITH COMPLETE DISREGARD FOR THAT HUMAN THAT WILL CARRY THE BURDEN OF THEIR PARENTS DNA.
@@kintsukuroi6300 you’re acting like dark skin is a disability,? It’s society that needs to change not the individual
@@kintsukuroi6300 lol that’s literally so stupid its society that has to change like what is wrong with you its just skin color its because of stupid people and racism and colorism that darker skinned people are treated badly people just have to stop thinking like that not stop having darker skinned children
Well, I am an Indian. I don't have a fair skin. And I am proud of it!
My niece doesn't have fair skin but she's beautiful and very attractive.
