Break in for a wireless earbuds? 🤣🤣, I'm more concern about the battery longevity and some of more of the are non replaceable specially airpods and airpods pro
The level of audio compression is really noticeable indoors but on the side of the road they seem impressive in cutting out the background noises. good video mate
I bought them here in the USA and have had lots of problems with them. Frequent drops/disconnects, touch control in R bud stopped working, and have had to do two resets. Google Support has been not helpful at all. At this point, I would suggest holding off purchasing them until they can work out the issues. Frustrating thing is when they do work, they are pretty good, but they are horribly inconsistent and not worth the investment.
Apparently there are a large number of reports of audio cutting out, the buds losing charge at different rates, and further connection issues when outside. The new firmware update made it worse for a lot of people and currently it does not appear to be resolved. I would hold off on buying until they have actually fixed this.
As I mentioned in the video, I had the asymmetric battery discharge issue, but no cutouts yet. Regardless, you are correct. I think Google needs to figure a few things out before buying this becomes a good idea
@@MikeOBrienMedia I've found mine also discharge at different rates but I've been assuming that's because I favour one over the other to control volume, etc, therefore I'm "using" one bud more than the other. Maybe I'm wrong though! I never use them long enough for it to be an issue to be honest

I love my pixel buds. Most of the time I actually have the volume at 55-65%. I love the way there music sounds and if I want heavy bass I have Skullcandy crushers that are great for bass (also would never go got inear buds for bass anyway) My biggest use is for audio books. Maybe I missed this but how far can you be from your phone before the connection is lost? Looking for ear buds I can take to the gym and keep my phone in my locker.
I found several problems with my Google Pixel Buds 2 which I've been using for about 2 weeks for phone calls and listening to music/movies. Before purchasing I watched reviews online, but they didn't mention any of the problems I encountered. Specifically: - My device was blocked from downloading the companion app on the Play Store due to "incompatibility" (I'm using an Android version 9, moto g6) - Call quality is tinny and robotic for both listening and speaking - Physical range is limited to about 2-5 feet, and you must be facing your phone to stay connected (turning your head will make connection unbearably choppy) - When connected to my laptop, the audio connection drops often (seems to be triggered by brushing a finger against the earbud... literally rubbing it the wrong way) - When using the buds to watch movies, latency is about half a second slow - not terrible but noticeably off when watching movies with any dialogue Hope this helps some people! Again, I'm not trying to be flagrant and reactive, which is where most negative reviews seem to come from. I just want to inform people of how my Pixel Buds were unusable upon arrival.
I think the mic on these are really good but I am torn between because of that price tag... Compare these with the Skullcandy Sesh which would be better?
Cons : Google shud add More to make it perfect: 1. Noise cancelling 2. Good bass with equalizer 3. Remove that annoying antenna in earbud 4. Gold color 5. Good App 6. GPS Important pros 1. Google assistant 2. Translator
I have a Google nest that I installed at my house and it had my download the Google home app. With any devices I use, nest, Pixel 4 XL the equalizer works on those so I figured it would work on the Google buds but just let me know...I'm thinking about getting them basically just because I have enjoyed Google's products so far
Mike I really enjoy your videos. If the price were the same, would you recommend Sony wf1000mx3 or pix buds 2? I have pixel phone but your review leaves me thinking audio will be not as good v keep up the great work. Looking forward to your thoughts. Ty. Buddy
For the same price, the XM3 buds are better. Better sound quality, better customization in the app, and they have active noise cancellation. The only downside is their massive size :(
Thank you my friend. I really appreciate your help and continúan to enjoy your videos. Xm3 are currently $180 at best buy . I will give them a try. I will share a link to your channel with friends to help promote. Great work and ty.
Haven't tried these yet bcuz they haven't been getting good reviews with the new update..I still think my Jabra 75t's are the best for bass and clarity
Thanks! I have not experienced any connectivity issues, except for one time. I was on a phone call and for about 1 second out of every minute, the left and right bud would go out of sync. It has not happened since, and I have not had any issues with music. I heard that a lot of people were having big problems though
The form factor is top notch. I can't say enough about how small and unobtrusive these are. The case is equally well designed and awesomely pocketable. I love the integration of google assistant, too. All of that said, Google really needs to figure out bluetooth. I am on my second pair and connectivity is kind of spotty. At the price, intolerably spotty. Foam tips really help with isolation/perceived bass, but they do interfere with how 'snappy' the fit is in the case for charging...to the point that you have to ensure they are fully seated and charging. Definitely worsens overall experience but may be worth it for the sound/isolation changes. The pressure of the foam fit also takes some pressure off from 'wing tip' if that's an issue for you.
So MIke, the takeaway i got from your review is that the audio is good, but not audiophile quality. The draw is the integration with google assistant. Do you think there may be future firmware releases to increase audio quality?
Do you think these would hold up with a noisy subway commute? My active noise cancelling headphones do very well however with summer I would like to get a pair of earphones.
What are better earbuds for audiofiles or for better sound quality? I am also curious about headsets. I bought attics pro wireless (SteelSeries) and I am super disappointed with them.
Thank you so much, Mohammad! I really appreciate all the support! I never thought the day would come where I would be making videos for such a community!
Hii, can you please tell us how good these earbuds are for gaming? Actually I want to buy these pair of google buds but since my purpose for buying is specially for gaming, so can u please test these earbuds on game like pubg mobile and tell us how much latency/delay does these earbuds have. I would be very thankful to you 😊
Hey Mike, I want to buy the pixel buds but I am starting to see bad connection issues in reviews. Has this started happening for you and our is this just a small majority like most tech
I would strongly recommend staying away from Pixel Buds-2. I went through 3 different pairs with the exact same flaws. After several escalations to the google service desk, they finally agreed to refund my purchase. This user experience was so bad I'm strongly considering leaving the Google ecosystem for Apple. 1) - The buds frequently fall out of sync with each other causing an annoying echo, this happens several times per hour, when it happens I need to stop the audio and restart for the buds to fall back in sync with each other. 2) - Several times the left bud just stopped working, requiring it to be seeded back into the case before it would play audio. 3) - With my phone in my pocket if I take a walk, Bluetooth constantly cuts out for 1/2 a second, this happens about every 3 seconds. 4) - The range on this device is very poor, walking just to the next room in my house produces audio drops, in contrast I have a pair of cheap $40 wireless buds that maintain their connection from the second story of my house to the basement.
LISTEN UP GALAXY NOTE 10 OWNERS! Not sure what phones most reviewers have been using for their reviews, but I give the these new Pixel Buds 5 stars WHEN paired with my Samsung Galaxy Note 10. The biggest, most frequent CON I see associated with the Pixel Buds 2 is lackluster [music] audio quality. - Well, despite Google not providing a Pixel Buds app, using the built-in EQ on my Galaxy Note 10 and configuring it to the way I like to listen to my music (strong, clear bass and bright mids and highs), my Pixel Buds 2 are now thumpin' just as hard and clear as Powerbeats Pro! I'm a musician and listen to a very broad spectrum of music genres, and given the right EQ settings on my Galaxy Note 10 for each genre, I'd put the audio quality of my Pixel Buds 2 paired with a Galaxy Note 10 up against any other wireless buds currently on the market! The other frequent CONS are battery life and unequal battery drain; I've found the following: - I only get about 5 hours even if I'm not listening to music or using the phone, BUT that's because the Google Assistant mic is ALWAYS ON and listening for that "Hey Google" phrase. Turning the "Hey Google" option OFF (until you need/want it) in the Pixel Buds app, not only causes the battery drain to be almost exactly equal between the left and right buds but also significantly increases battery life! And lastly, as for the translate feature, again, on my Galaxy Note 10, it has worked flawlessly! I've had my buds now for about two weeks and have really put them through the paces; I've used the translate feature with my Spanish, Vietnamese, and Russian friends/colleagues and have gotten praise from all for it's relative accuracy in translation and total exuberance from me, getting to hear their responses in their native language translated to English in my ears!
@@MikeOBrienMedia if you do another review or comparison with other buds do try to use different phone and see if the audio quality differs. Thanks Mike
How would you say the bass compares with the Galaxy Buds+? These don't have that great seal but I've heard that the Galaxy Buds+ don't have the best bass either.
Galaxy Buds+ sound much better than the Pixel Buds. The volume for the Pixel Buds is low even when having it turned up to almost maximum volume. Hopefully, this can get adjusted in a software update.
A 30 millisecond delay while watching video is a 1 frame delay and isn't enjoyable to watch, I'm new to wanting to purchase wireless but delays are the whole reason I avoid them to begin with, a 1 frame delay is huge, assuming its 24fps, this review was presenting that as a great thing, is delay really that bad across the board with bluetooth devices?
Hmm... If you use the Assistant a lot, I recommend the Pixel buds of course. For almost anyone else, and myself included, the Jabra buds have been my favorite. I recommend them for many reasons, including that I think they have the best mechanical design on the market
Mine worked fine, until they release that 296 firmware update that was supposed to fix all sorts of problems I didn't have. Once it updated the firmware, I then had all those problems. I returned them.
I heard there were some issues with connection. I have not experienced that yet, but to be honest, the Jabras are a great choice. They make the top 4 of almost every list out there
The noise the right bud makes is making me crazy. I've read this is a common issue for a lot of people. I'm getting $50 buds that have great reviews. I'll see.
4 ปีที่แล้ว +1
i didn't download any app, and I have the same thing as you.. (I'm using a Pixel 3 XL with the latest Android)
I find myself wondering? Could they not have given the option to turn off the always listening Google assistant so the battery time could be clawed back? Thanks Mike.
my pixel buds have an issue with the right earbud where it makes a hissing/fuzz noise whenever I play audio. I exchanged them for a new pair at best buy and the new pair STILL has the same problem. Google needs to get their quality control fixed. For anyone looking at buying, I would hold off. as much as I want to love them these are plagued with problems.
I would love to buy these in black NOW (I don't do white hardware) but the fact that they have not been released yet sends warning signals to me. Issues? Possibly. P.S. I don't believe COVID has anything to do with this
One day of using it and in version. 296 my right bud doesn't respond to gestures and in-ear detection needs to be off to hear audio through the right bud for me. I then turn it back on sometimes. Either way I love them.
Purchasing this product 3 days ago and I'm already experiencing serious audio corruption issue, starting with the left earbud going completely silent and then the right. This has been occuring every day so far while walking outside at normal pace. This appears to be a Bluetooth connection issue that needs to be resolved immediately.
I have been reading about some users with those same issues. Perhaps it is unit-related, or a compatibility thing with some phones, but I never experienced such issues. I really hope Google releases some big updates and bug fixes ASAP!
I have a few issues with mine. Sometimes the left or right bud would get disconnected individually and I can't pair it again unless I put it back in the case (not always on me) and go through the pairing process again. I also have an issue with the hands free assistant. It's probably something with my phone not being able to voice match and will probably have to do a factory reset.
Audio equipment should definitely have long term reviews.. they take a bit of time to break in and come to full form. Great review Mike!

- I only get about 5 hours even if I'm not listening to music or using the phone, BUT that's because the Google Assistant mic is ALWAYS ON and listening for that "Hey Google" phrase.
I've had my buds now for about two weeks and have really put them through the paces; I've used the translate feature with my Spanish, Vietnamese, and Russian friends/colleagues and have gotten praise from all for it's relative accuracy in translation and total exuberance from me, getting to hear their responses in their native language translated to English in my ears!
the audio is works pretty nicely
Yeah the microphones did surprisingly well in my testing!
On which phone did you try the audio quality? I wonder if different phones will give you different sound? Google needs to work on a good equaliser.
Galaxy S20 5G
@@MikeOBrienMedia if you do another review or comparison with other buds do try to use different phone and see if the audio quality differs. Thanks Mike
is it true that these earbuds work best in terms of latency on Pixel devices
now with the new Pixel 5
How would you say the bass compares with the Galaxy Buds+?
These don't have that great seal but I've heard that the Galaxy Buds+ don't have the best bass either.
Bass on the buds+ is far more powerful
@@MikeOBrienMedia alright, thanks
Galaxy Buds+ sound much better than the Pixel Buds. The volume for the Pixel Buds is low even when having it turned up to almost maximum volume. Hopefully, this can get adjusted in a software update.
Ended up getting the Galaxy Buds+.
I'm certainly impressed.
Is there any other in ear with google assistant like the pixel buds on the market?
Anyone knows how they work with iPhones? I don’t want airpods since you can’t adjust volume on them.
Everything works you just don't get the app or ambient mode. Which could change. But all the functions work
Would you choose this Pixel Buds 2 or the Jabra Elite 75t?
Hmm... If you use the Assistant a lot, I recommend the Pixel buds of course. For almost anyone else, and myself included, the Jabra buds have been my favorite. I recommend them for many reasons, including that I think they have the best mechanical design on the market
I have had these for a couple weeks and the only issue i had was just that they get a little painful to wear after a while
Mine worked fine, until they release that 296 firmware update that was supposed to fix all sorts of problems I didn't have. Once it updated the firmware, I then had all those problems. I returned them.
I returned mine because songs would pause for fraction of a second. I heard this is common. Seems like a connectivity issue. Did google fix this
Mine cut out constantly and had Google send me a new one and the second one did the same thing so I returned them and will get Jabra 75t
I heard there were some issues with connection. I have not experienced that yet, but to be honest, the Jabras are a great choice. They make the top 4 of almost every list out there
I returned mine also and got the JBL Live300tws... Love them.
I should’ve wait for the firmware update, but i get it you paying a lot for this and expect a good first impression
Yes me too I'm waiting for an update in August, I hope it will fix this issue with sound.
@@salhugues did the issues get fixed? I'm considering picking these up
The noise the right bud makes is making me crazy. I've read this is a common issue for a lot of people. I'm getting $50 buds that have great reviews. I'll see.
i didn't download any app, and I have the same thing as you.. (I'm using a Pixel 3 XL with the latest Android)
I Love all of your videos
Cool
And am a big fan of yours
I really appreciate your kind comment! Thank you so much for your support!
I find myself wondering? Could they not have given the option to turn off the always listening Google assistant so the battery time could be clawed back? Thanks Mike.
That is a great question. I really hope Google gives these buds the attention they deserve with feature updates such as that
The battery is great and the same as airpods pro and better than galaxy buds+
I really want to pick these up but I want to wait for the other colors to drop. Getting a bit impatient though 😤
I'm waiting on the black ones but looking at all the connectivity issues kinda glad I'm still waiting
Nike! And they work fine. Eye love mine
I read it's going to take a few months for the other colors. Especially with coronaviruis affecting supply chains
my pixel buds have an issue with the right earbud where it makes a hissing/fuzz noise whenever I play audio.
Issues? Possibly.
P.S. I don't believe COVID has anything to do with this
Been waiting for the black or orange ones myself forever. Might just end up getting the white ones.
One day of using it and in version. 296 my right bud doesn't respond to gestures and in-ear detection needs to be off to hear audio through the right bud for me. I then turn it back on sometimes. Either way I love them.
Nothing in the UK yet. They Are Working on it and blabla, but this delay is saying a lot about google
Sadly, it is. Google needs to figure out their hardware plans a bit better
how can a review not mention the connection issues outdoors??? You guys are supposed to be reliable
I like this channel too much ❤️❤️
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Samsung galaxy buds pro I much butter with a lot of features in a lower price because pixel buds just got an increased price!
Man, these earbuds are awesome, sadly, nor Google nor Amazon ship them to Mexico. Anyway, great video, as always.
Yeah it is a bummer that Google does not have more stock
Can you use these on an iphone?
I thought the eq was fixed through an update?
The EQ is and has been fine since the beginning. They sound great honestly. Great balance and distribution of sound
I talked to the PIXEL BUDS team a few times last week and they still don't know when the other COLORS will come out...What a bummer 😕
Seems to be out, now.
I was able to order the black ones. They came in yesterday.
