Idk if I could take the chance buying something like that then going thru the hassle of returns if that price didn’t make that much a difference between $100-$200 earbuds.
Great video man. I love my Sony XM-4s. Working great after 2 years of almost daily use and one bud falling into a pool lol. Definitely going to pick up the XM-5s after these give out. *tip on the XM4* There is foam in the speaker of the bud if you pull the foam out a bit with a tweezer and pinch them with a paper towel you will see all the wax build up and makes the audio loudness and quality as if they were brand new. Didn't realize this was a thing until like a year of ownership. The difference in sound quality and volume was insane lol.
Unfortunately these earbuds have well known battery issues caused by a software update that deem them practically useless. It happened to me too. They barely last an hour now and the case can't even fully charge the buds anymore before having low battery too. Sony is aware too and is offering repairs even if you're out of warranty, but it still sucks to have this issue to begin with. I loved the sound quality, but this alone prevents me from recommending them to anyone.
Hi from another audio engineer. I do touring audio. Last year I had some enjoyment and frustration trying to wear Airpods pro while sleeping in my tour bus bunk. The ANC really added a level of relief that I never get from regular earplugs. I tend to toss and turn a bit and switch from back to side to other side. The airpods tended to fall out and be a bit uncomfortable on my side. Any recommendations for ANC buds with more than 6 hours of battery life that might work for me? I got a set of the Quieton 3's and they didn't work at all. I found the ANC to be almost nonexistent, which is a bummer because they were expensive and a great idea on paper. I've been sort of leaning towards the new JLab Jbuds 3, Soundcore life A3i, or Jabra Elite 8 or 10 or Galaxy Buds live (maybe too short of battery life).
Space A40’s were a no go for me. They were physically uncomfortable and the low battery warning came on an hour before I wanted to wake up. Currently using JLab ANC3. They’re more comfortable and seem to sound about the same as the Space A40’s, except with a slight hiss with ANC engaged. Battery life seems slightly better. I’m now thinking that the perfect product for me doesn’t exist yet. Maybe in a few years with smaller electronics and better batteries…
I wish this spoke to the mic/call ability for each of the earbuds. As someone who is in a lot of calls while being in noisy environments, that's super valuable to me. 😊
Im confused about the google buds. Is the a series good? Because I saw your video about the pros and you said they are pretty bad but are the a series good? also: are the nothing ear1 also good? because 150$ is a bit too much for me(whats the diffrence between the 2 versions)
The A-Series is fine, especially for cheap options. The Pro's are awful. I'd never suggest the current generation to anyone. Ear(2) is better. There's a new Nothing Ear launch coming this month, so maybe wait for that and see what reviews say.
I have the Sennheiser m4, Sony xm5, and Jabra elite 10. For me the Jabra is the best out of the three due to comfort. I wear them to sleep and I never wake up in the middle of the night because my ears were hurting unlike the other two. They are the most comfortable earbuds I have tried so far.
well none of them are meant for that level of comfort. In fact the first one is pure audio the second is supposed be audio with some nice earbuds gimmicks but still good quality and jabra is meant to be worn while working out. Neither three are meant to sleep in an you probably shouldn't be sleeping with these in they have specifically made one just for that. Jabra is obviously going to be the most comfortable because its made to work out in. Like comparing a running show to a nice pair of good looking shoes that are comfortable but cost more. Generally running shows will be more comfortable compare to more expensive shoes. But yeah dont wear these to sleep you can wear the jabra for a while but def shouldn't be sleeping in them damaging your ears.
Where would you put the airpod pro now with the latest update? I say it jumps to #1. It is insane now with the ability to block out sounds on calls like windows down while driving just crazy
Damn didn't think Ear 2 would perform that well. I got them for a crazy 50% deal at $74 just because I had spent all my budget on Sony XM5s and needed something in ear for workouts. Guess this worked out pretty well.
I am very happy with edifier nb2 pro, with very good ANC, good sound quality. Easy to take out of case. As a mid-budget option, they are very good choice. For top music option i have the sony xm4. For office work, I use airpods 2pro. I think the airpods 2 pro lack a lot of bass compared to any other brand. What is your take on this?
airpods are flat. Thats just how they are they aren't good for music just its eco system, transparency model. You using all of these on andriod or iphone?
In your comparisons, do you usually have spatial audio turned on for the airpods pro 2? or do you prefer listening to music with the pro 2 on default (like turning off spatial audio or any head/ear tracking)?
Hi was there a $ limit to your scoring criteria? The following earbuds are superior to any that you presented: B&O EQ, Audio Technica TWX9, B&W Pi7 S2, B&O Beoplay EX, Technics premium HiFi, Klipsch T5 II, Master&Dynamic MW09, Devialet Gemini II
Superior in what? Stop falling for all the marketing crap, if you have an iPhone the airpods will save you from a lot of headaches. If you have an Android I would just go for Bose ones.
I already have an Airpods pro 2 but I'm using a Samsung S24 ultra. I really want to replace my main driver as I cannot fully maximize the Airpods pro 2 due to me using an android device. There's also a fear on me when will it die on me since I can't even see the battery status of it of the airpods so I have to charge them every chance that I got. Right now, I'm torn between XF-1000xm5 vs Nothing ear 2024. Can you folks give me an input regarding these 2? I have the Jabra elite 10 as one of my choice but since Jabra has stopped making them, I'm afraid of future support for it so I dropped it from my consideration
I know that it's basically TWICE the price tag of almost everything on this list, but how about the Denon PerL Pro's? I've done some research, and it seems that they are the undisputed kings of TWS, besting even the Technics AZ80. At a price tag of $350, I can understand why you wouldn't include them, but I was just wondering what your thoughts are on them? I might pull the trigger. I already have AP2's, Buds 2 pro, and Bathys. I'm just wondering if they'd be worth it what with my line up so far.
From what I know, they provide sound quality like no other pods, with their multi instrument thingy (forgot what it's called) but basically they are the absolute best in terms of sound quality
@@giladrosen yep! They’re 100% THE best wireless buds. I bought a pair literally 2 days after posting my comment. I just had to have them because of all the rave reviews. They’re worth the investment for sure. The personalized sound option is also really cool, and completely changes your auditory experience.
i havent had the bose ultra, but the bose QC 2 is sometimes infuriating to connect to. it will sometimes disconnect and only after i disconnect and forget the device in my system and then reconnect it might work. most of the time though it just automatically connects.
Hi there! Can you please suggest a one for PC use for work, Teams meetings, video calls, less lag in video etc. I use iphone and airpods pro. Airpod pro sounds good on PC but switching between PC and phone is not great. I need a separate earbuds for PC, where I can also see the battery of the case and buds. Any suggestions pls? I was considering galaxy buds pro 2, but it seems the Teams meeting etc doesnt work good when connected to PC, while it works great on phone.
Really like your content. Lots of other notable sound guys on youtube seem to dislike the Nothing Ear 2s, with the common apprehension being that they sound weird and unnatural even after the update, so I was suprised to hear about your experience with them. I fully share your view on the xm5s and the air pods pro 2. What about the Galaxy buds, did they wish not to be included the way sennheiser did.
Interesting. I’m surprised they’d say it sounds weird. Galaxy buds 2 pro are solid and would have made the list if all of these great options didn’t come out this year. They got bumped down. They’re good, but not AS good as others. Samsungs were on the table and included. OnePlus as well, but I couldn’t find them lol. I know the second gen OP is worse than the first gen for sound imo.
If they send them out to me, then they can be considered. There are so many earbuds out there and I don't know about all of them or have a chance to get all of them. I also have limited funds. They're more than welcome to send them to me for consideration in the future!
Thank you for this excellent video. What would be the best earbud that will reduce active noise levels but let you hear voices? I would also like the microphone to mute out all sounds but my voice on calls. Does this exist or do you have a recommendation?
Here I am! Thank you for making this incredibly helpful video! I see that the best option for me regarding the ANC feature are the Bose Quietcomfort Ultra or the Sony XM5. What I'm wondering though is that if you're going to make a comparison between both of them. That would be more than great! I love the way that this video gives you a good range of sections of interest. You're the best!
There is a plan to do that. My travel schedule is a bit crazy right now, so whenever I have a good gap of time to work on the crazy insane review and comparison.
I feel like my XIaomi buds 3t pros sound very similar yet slightly better than my brother's Nothing Ear 2s... How can I get an upgrade in sounds quality now ? I was thinking of the Xiaomi Buds 4T pros, saw them on your table but you didn't mention them
It's definitely a great review since you justify the reasons of each category winner. I'd only change a small detail; I'd swap the winner and the runner-up for the overall best between Sony and Apple as the apple-centric airpods cannot make these an overall winner, imho, while sony earbuds work equally good to both ios and android. Being a platform-free product is the most important feature, even for iphone users, as it doesn't prevent you from switching in the future.
How would you rate the Beats Studio Buds Pro? Is it better than the Airpods Pro 2nd Gen? I prefer the better sound quality one than ANC. So Im confused which one to take whether its the Studio Beats, Airpods Pro Gen 2, Sony XM5 or Bose QC II Ultra.
I own the Elite 4. Neutral sounding without eq (make sure to download the app first, otherwise they sound muddy. On the Steam Deck they played flawlessly without any apps.) Fits very deep in the ear canal and can cause discomfort. ANC quality was poor but they isolate well on their own if the fit is good. Personally I didn't care about the ANC quality and the overall sound is pretty nice. I have slight issues with the fit on my other ear though and I have to keep adjusting it now and then.
Please can you tell me if any of this can be used for live gigs as a musician? I'm wondering if the JBL's latency is tolerable to live performances, or you have another suggestion????
I think the AirPods Pro 2 are more towards the tasteful and balanced sound compared to Sony. If you already liked the dark, congested bass sound of old Sony, then yeah, Apple will disappoint.
Amazing Review as always!!! Love your content and depth. I think you should add the Anker Soundcore Liberty 4 NC to your list next. There is nothing touching those in that price tag.
Great video and comparison. I wish you had also addressed the best microphone for phone calls. The problem with most of these is that on a phone call, or if recording a video for social media, the mics pick up way too much ambient noise making the sound quality on the other end very poor. Any comments on this issue???
Sad to not see Sennheiser anywhere on here. I really love thier sound characteristics. But taste is subjective I suppose! Was happy to see the Sonys get your runner up spot. Those do sound amazing.
It's nice to watch this review as I'm searching for new wireless Earbuds ! For me, the ANC and the latency are the most important criteria, as i'm a video editor. I need to be frame-accurate, especially when editing music or interviews. As i'm working on macbook m1 2020, with Bluetooth 5.0, do you think the Airpods Pro 2 will offer me less latency than the Sony XM5 as it's the Apple eco-system, and could you be able to tell me if the latency will always be a problem even with the Airpods ? Thanks a lot !
I hate to say but I don’t agree with your opinion about nothing ear 2’s have the best sound quality… Especially after Crinacle’s review. Besides I have Bang and Olufsen Ex and galaxy buds2 pro’s. Both are have really tastefull fullfilling sound that I enjoy really much. I don’t think not even a decade years old company overcome with audio expert companies.
looking for a good set of earbuds that have a 'mute' feature, so while on phone calls I don't have to fuss with my phone, and I don't have be concerned with an individual or group on the other end hearing all the noise created on my side of the call. Any suggestions?

I’m watching this video after purchasing the AirPods 3rd gen. I can’t stand these AirPods because they feel like they’re constantly going to fall out of my ear. I’m struggling to decide between the BOSE Ultra and the Beats Fit Pro. Do you have a recommendation between the two in terms of sound quality? And I’m slightly curious as to the microphone quality for these headphones as I take phone calls pretty regularly.
Update: i bought the Beats Fit Pro, straight out of the box only the right headphone works, no firmware updates to fix it, resetting the earbuds and phone did nothing. Absolute dog shit pair of earbuds. Returning them again tomorrow for a refund.
Surprised that you didn't mention the Bose Ultra earbuds support lossless audio. Did you try it with one of the phones that supports lossless in the transmit side. e.g. Sony Xperia 1 IV. I would say Denon Perl Pro earbuds are missing as well as Sennheiser as others have commented
Never had an issue with windows. It’s no where near as ergonomic compared to apples automatic switching when using their ecosystem. But it will work great!
What would be the best option for mowing? The headphones will need to have, decent audio quality, noise cancellation, and battery life, at least four hours. And hopefully under $100.
Not a dramatic one IMO. If you already have the II's I'd keep them unless the connectivity drives you insane. The real big difference is spatial audio and that doesn't matter to me at all. The ANC on the II is already insane, so the bump up is just ridiculously insane on top of insane.
@@ThisIsTechTodayI have the xm5 right now and I am thinking of switching to Boses mostly because of the relatively loose fit and the high amount of body borne noise from the sony's, do you think it'll be considerable upgrade?
@@xiongproductions7445for anc and transparency, yes. Connection, no. Swipe gestures are great though. They are bad on the II and okay on the ultra. I like the XM5 more.
I currently use the KZ ksn pro x or whatever the awkward name is. I'm wondering, can I make them bluetooth and also have them last all day? I have a wired and bluetooth set because I think the audio quality is so good for the price, but the bluetooth ones only last half a day. I'd like to go a full day without having to charge them for a couple hours inbetween. If I can't do it with the KZ's, then are there other earphones that have good audio quality, are bluetooth, and will last all day without charging? Doesn't have to be wireless, they can have that wire that connects them round the back of my neck if need be. I really just want longer battery life.
Hello, I've been considering Google Pixel Buds (any...) because I'm just a Google Product fan and plan to be using them mainly for music and talking to family. I'm stuck between your comment about the pros sounding worse but having more features.
Dont do it, I have both, You will be disapointed with the 5's
@@KenHMladin They're better lol. Wtf
@@KenHMladinwhy do you say the 5s are worse?
Thanks for the review! What about call quality as a category? In this day is virtual offices, this is a #1 concern.
I agree - I was surprised to see that call quality was not included.
Same, the entire reason why I clicked on this video. Blown away a bit
Airpods Pro are great for calls
Same, main thing I was looking for.
Did you look at Status Audio 3ANC or have any thoughts on those?
I was thinking the same thing
I 2nd this as well. Really interested to hear thoughts on Status earbuds
Anyone want to weigh in on this? How is the audio on the nothing ear 2 and the pixel buds?
Comfort is certainly a very important factor! Very hard to review or account for since our ears are so different!
well none of them are meant for that level of comfort.
How
Are they all wireless charging on the magnetic pads besides the ones you said weren’t?
I am very happy with edifier nb2 pro, with very good ANC, good sound quality. Easy to take out of case. As a mid-budget option, they are very good choice.
For top music option i have the sony xm4. For office work, I use airpods 2pro. I think the airpods 2 pro lack a lot of bass compared to any other brand. What is your take on this?
ambient pro
You are 100 percent correct. That lack of bass is why I didn't stick with the Airpod Pros.
airpods are flat.
No Spatial Audio. Almost always it sounds bad to me.
I have the Jabra elite 10 as one of my choice but since Jabra has stopped making them, I'm afraid of future support for it so I dropped it from my consideration
hey brandon, really love your vid.I want to ask something.is sony wf-1000xm5 best earbud for samsung s23 ultra than galaxy buds 2 pro?
Yes

What I.E.M would you suggest. Current are TFZ No. 3ti. Looking for bass heavy
Why spend this kind of money on earbuds?
From what I know, they provide sound quality like no other pods, with their multi instrument thingy (forgot what it's called) but basically they are the absolute best in terms of sound quality
@@giladrosen yep! They’re 100% THE best wireless buds. I bought a pair literally 2 days after posting my comment. I just had to have them because of all the rave reviews. They’re worth the investment for sure. The personalized sound option is also really cool, and completely changes your auditory experience.
How are the Soundcore liberty 4 compared to the Nothing ear 2? Majorly for calling and sound quality!
Sound Quality is better on Ear 2
What about the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro? Are those not as good as the earbuds shown in the video?
How much better in ANC of bose qc ultra than qc 2 earbuds? Or 99% same performance?
How bad are the connectivity issues with the Bose Ultra?
i havent had the bose ultra, but the bose QC 2 is sometimes infuriating to connect to. it will sometimes disconnect and only after i disconnect and forget the device in my system and then reconnect it might work. most of the time though it just automatically connects.
No comparison between Sony inzone buds and sony pulse explore for gaming earbuds?
They didn't send them to me, but I can ask.
5:04 what is the name of the model and brand? Please make inserts to read.
It’s literally on the title slide
How about best Bass? And is the Nothing Ear 2 better than the newly released Nothing Ear 2024?
I'm really surprised you didn't include the ATH AZ80 om the list. The real underdog IMHO.
If they send them out to me, then they can be considered. There are so many earbuds out there and I don't know about all of them or have a chance to get all of them. I also have limited funds. They're more than welcome to send them to me for consideration in the future!
Have you done one of these videos for over the ear headphones? This was super helpful.
Working on one!
An honest question - would you choose Airpods pro 2 as best overall if you didn't have an iphone?
No. That’s why the follow up is the Sony.
I am confused between the choice of Beats Fit Pro and Sony xm5. Please help me. Sound quality and bass are important to me
If you have iPhone beats if you have android Sony they both sound good. Beats sound like your at a concert inside Sony sounds like a concert outside
Thank you for this excellent video. What would be the best earbud that will reduce active noise levels but let you hear voices? I would also like the microphone to mute out all sounds but my voice on calls. Does this exist or do you have a recommendation?
Any recommendatons for users with small ear canals?
Just one and only question. Airpods gen 2 vs Nothing earstick, which one for best music experience?
Hi can you tell which one is better the MOONDROP - Space Travel or Skullcandy mod ? Thanks
APP2 is still better across the board IMO.
Jabra left the chat
Jabra elite 10 I think is most elite
@@Aaronriccfr? Is the elite 75t also good?
JABRA is surely underrated!!
Jabra> everything
Shshsh... let's keep this to our selves
You ever tried the Jabra Elites? Wondering your thoughts.
Certified youtubers like him is what we need ! Someone that i can put my trust on
Thanks, friend.
Please can you tell me if any of this can be used for live gigs as a musician? I'm wondering if the JBL's latency is tolerable to live performances, or you have another suggestion????
I would never trust bluetooth for live music situations, too much risk of latency, drop-outs or disconnections when you need it least
Beoplay ex buds have the best sound I’ve ever heard from Bluetooth. Incredible music quality.
I WOULD LIKE TO TRY THOSE BUT….WAYYYYY TO EXPENSIVE….
Is there a big sound quality gap between Sony and Pro2? I'm choosing between this two, but I'm afraid that AirPods will disappoint me in this area.
I think the AirPods Pro 2 are more towards the tasteful and balanced sound compared to Sony. If you already liked the dark, congested bass sound of old Sony, then yeah, Apple will disappoint.

I asked Sennheiser if they wanted to be included and they declined. They will be in the headphone video though.

Yeah, the Apple AirPods Pro 2 usbc is the proper choice in that scenario!

Not a dramatic one IMO. If you already have the II's I'd keep them unless the connectivity drives you insane. The real big difference is spatial audio and that doesn't matter to me at all. The ANC on the II is already insane, so the bump up is just ridiculously insane on top of insane.
