    ADDITIONAL REVIEW NOTES:
    FEATURES:
Google uses a lot of custom stuff, from chips to drivers, to silicone, and it is all to achieve what they believe to be the best pro earbuds you can buy
    Multipoint connection
    Google Assistant integration
    11/31 hrs battery! - 7 with ANC
    Eartip seal checker
If you tap and hold for a second and then let go without saying anything to Google, she will read your notifications to you
    Find my earbuds
    DESIGN:
    Compare to older Pixel Buds
    Chunkier
I love the physical button to force pairing
    Wireless charging
    Proximity sensors
    IPX4
    FIT/COMFORT:
Pressure relief with active pressure sensors inside
These go deep in your ear canal
These are a very oval shaped earbud without many orienting features, so it is easy to put them in your ears incorrectly and have bad ANC or fit
During a workout, these stayed in for me, except for the left which stayed in much better than the AirPods Pro, but for some reason, my left ear is not friends with earbuds that lack a wingtip
    CONTROLS:
I love that there are swipe vol controls but why are they opposite? Up/down works as well as forward back
    WORKOUTS:
No wing tips, but they go deep in the ear
Kind of like Jabra Elite 85t vibes imo
    SOUND:
Plenty of big bass - pretty tight and punchy
    Slightly sibilant
Warm and powerful with lively sound with that larger 11mm custom driver
I would love to EQ this, but I believe the EQ is coming soon? It is not in the app from what I can tell. And never buy something on the promise that a feature will be added
Too afraid to love you by the black keys sounds great. Thumpy baseline and simple stage
In logic's album vinyl days, the persistent snare beat is too forward and eclipses a lot of the song
Showdown by stick figure is a warmer reggae song and it sounds really nice with these buds
I would say these are much better than Google’s last two iterations of the Pixel Buds, but not quite as good as the Beoplay EX or Momentum TW3’s
Lacks some low level detail on the high end
Really, my beef is with the cymbals/snare and other details like that
In summary, these are not bad, but for $200, I want better detail.
These are sort of the opposite of the AirPods Pro. The AP Pros have great detail but lack bass, and these have nice bass but lack some high end detail.
    ANC:
Not good if there is any wind
Good for cutting out A/C, dishwasher, or other general sounds
Pretty decent for cutting out a drum set
I expect algorithms to improve with updates from Google
Probably not quite as good as Sony or Apple, but better than some
Transparency mode sounds a bit robotic, and again wind is an issue.
Not as good as the AirPods Pro
    APP:
These will work with iPhone, but you can’t get the app
    THE GOOD:
    Multipoint
    Great battery
    Strong bass
    Lots of Google features
    THE BAD:
    Sound could be more detailed
    No advanced CODECs
    Fit can be finicky
    No app for Apple
    What do you think?

Even if you separate airpods sales alone from apple themselves, it's still worth more than $10 billion beating many companies' total value. Airpods is dominating the sales so u should keep your bias android ass off the table

I love watching your breakdowns. Your channel is always one I look to when trying to decide on quality sound products. I feel the pain points of earbuds for me personally are wind issues, pairing seamlessly between devices, & battery life. I have not had the best experience when I have tried Google hardware. I have been using the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds for 7 months. In my experience, the most Important thing to know is what works best with your phone. I think comparing these to android-friendly earbuds like Sony & Samsung, but maybe throw in the Apple Airpods Pro comparison for some fun and interesting perspectives.

great review! I agree with the point you made about getting them seated properly in your ears. I never get that "ok. now they are in properly" feeling. I have also dropped (not fallen out) the individual buds twice on two separate occasions. Apparently I am having difficulty holding on to them for whatever reason. I have the pixel buds 2020 and I have never dropped those. All in all I am pretty impressed so far. I like the mat finish, the colors, and the design. 5pt EQ coming soon.

I wonder why one of the most reputable companies in the world will not support / license a high rez codec when they are up against popular high quality competitors. The Sennheiser MTW3 and Sony XM4 are way better sounding than these. LDAC at 990 would have brought them audibly closer for example.

Definitely out for me. I'm not sure why Google not only omitted any decent wireless codes (aptx, LDAC) but also took a step back with Bluetooth 5.0 when others are available with 5.1 and 5.2 which are more reliable and can shunt more data. Waiting until October to see what comes out with aptx Losseless.
I love the description from one reviewer "like having your ears dug with a spoon"!

Good Review Mike, thank you, I found your channel when looking for reviews on these as I am considering them. Honestly the top things that I am looking for in Wireless Ear Buds are 1. Fit/Comfort (I have ear buds in more than I have them out) 2. Battery Life (even though I have the 2 gen Air Pods & of course the battery life has deteriorated some as to be expected,) they still die incredibly fast & I don't like that & they don't even have any ANC & while there will be times that I will certainly use ANC & I am thankful for that feature, I also like & need to hear my surroundings at times so ANC is (almost) a bonus feature. The Touch Controls on these especially the swipe back & forth for Volume I think sell me on these too. I also don't like Super Heavy Bass Ear Buds Headphones & I also need the ability to switch between my upcomming Mac computer & my Upcomming Pixel 7 Phone. I think between your's & Tech Odyssey's Initial Review of these, I will pick up a pair this Fall.

Pixel Buds Pro vs Freebuds Pro. I believe the "Audio connection center" on freebuds pro is amazing and I don't know if I'm ready to miss that to have auracast and those feautures on the pixel buds. And a lot of reviews miss the auracast feauture.

I'm SO GLAD someone FINALLY told the truth about APP's!! bass is non existent in those and for the amount u pay for them they SHOULD sound like the sound core liberty 3 pros, Jabra 75t's or even the Sennheiser's which are all either cheaper than the APP's or on par pricing with those but offer way more...

I watched another review by another channel and they commented on the fact that the bass was weak and highs were punchy. is it different for every pair or is something off with someone's hearing?😭

Mine seemed to cancel the wind well and I thought the highs were a little too crisp with "S" sounds being really forward.

I'd love to see these compared to the Galaxy Buds Pro (although maybe after the new ones come out in August). Also, are you planning to review the new Beyerdynamics earbuds? They look really promising.

I got mine for $108 since my boss got me a $50 gift card and I went no shipping on Amazon. For my first pair of wireless earbuds? Can't be mad.

Nice review Mike. I might grab these when they inevitably go on sale as I think $200 is just too much for any of these IEM's. The only real apples to apples (see what I did there) comparison is with other Android specific IEM's like Sony's.

When I would chew gum with my old earbuds it always affected them pushing them out a bit and not making them fit right. With the Google buds I don't have that probably. If anyone was curious.

I'm a soundcore user at the level of sound quality , non of these stand with Liberty series with the ACAA technology they deliver , including Bowers and wilkins, SONY XM series, but if you want more of ecosystem you have to choose earbuds that go with the phone's system of course, I'm about to buy a Pixel 7 pro and of course I'll get the Pixel buds pro beside my Soundcore Liberty 3 pro and B&W PI7

Why not having an app for Apple devices should be a con for these earbuds, if we never talk about the fact that there's no app/lack of compatibility for the Airpods on Android devices ?

I think it would be really smart to compare to the galaxy buds pro because they are both android, but I feel like another good option would be the Soundcore Liberty 3 pros, because of all the hype they have been getting, and they also have multipoint connectivity.
