    I do find myself questioning how to jam live like you do, Peter, so thank you for making behind-the-scenes videos. I will make sure to watch others you made.
    I more or less 'program' music in a DAW but want to have more control during playing, pretending I am playing for a small audience. I hope this change in workflow can happen for me, as I want to have more fun.

    • @tricks-and-tips
      @tricks-and-tips  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks.
      Before I started with the 707, I had the same workflow in the DAW. (and I still have that for when I use the DAW).
      But I wanted to have a second place to make music.
      When I started out, my goal was to make tracks on the hardware setup too, but that did not work well.
      I got quite frustrated when I could not do with hardware what I normally did (in the DAW), but after a lot of pushing through and many hours just fiddling around, I developed a different workflow. One that is much more fun and instant.
      It's really like performing your jam.
      And the 707 works very well for me in this way.

      @@rayderrich I have been thinking about a way to show my workflow in an interesting way. But it is still not super clear how I can prevent this from becoming a very long and boring video with me trying out ideas consciously trying to make something interesting for the viewer.

    • @rayderrich
      @rayderrich ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tricks-and-tips It will not be for everyone, but what might look boring to you is fresh for someone like me who does not know how to do it yet. And you can always cut some scenes if you feel some parts are just too long. But hey do what you want, it is just a thought, not a must.

    Great stuff. Always fun to see ppls workflow. For me, my first step is to assign chords to the chord pads… I then build 2+ song sections (clips for verse, chorus, etc)… then I jam.

    • @tricks-and-tips
      @tricks-and-tips  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, that sounds good!
      I sometimes struggle to find A and B sections. But for this jam I think it will be Allright. I think I have enough for that now.
      Next video will be about trying to create some scenes for the final jam.
      And it is very well possible that I record new clips during that process 🤣
      Just where the inspiration takes me

    This is brilliant! And I have several minutes still to watch (and will!) The idea of a a project for favorite tones is simple but powerful! (I do this with songs, telling Siri to add to my “File Later” playlist, to be sorted into a “real” playlist later.)
    I love my 707 but have been too distracted (life, work, Eurorack, etc) to build a real workflow. This will help tremendously!

      You have a drum clip going on the 707 on a drum track and want to save that as a sample on the 707?
      Why? To use on the 707?
      I don't get it, I never make samples from the 707 on the 707 itself.

    For Note Mode, are you in a scale of some sort, as to why the pads are all lit?

    • @tricks-and-tips
      @tricks-and-tips  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, In this case I used a minor scale. It can be handy when jamming, mainly because you get 2 octaves.

    Hey how do u set up ur melody key pads to not be like a piano. But access all pads?

    • @tricks-and-tips
      @tricks-and-tips  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Shift + Note and select a scale (C4 knob)
      You can transpose your pads up and down too here.

  • @thesesmallboxes

    Also, do you feel something like a Keystep 37 would help you in this workflow?

    • @tricks-and-tips
      @tricks-and-tips  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have a simple 49keys midi keyboard that I use too. But for this project I set the pads to a minor scale, and that way I can come up with patterns that I would not have thought of on a regular keyboard 😁
