- A sample chop and flip is using pieces of another piece of music to make your own. A classic technique used in a ton of genres. In this video we'll go over some of the ways to make a chop and flip a sample, using the Roland MC 707.

Yay! Finally Part 2 of the thing where Jeremy for red means recording chops up stuff and talks to me about chops!
Bless the musicians who provide us all with samples. Buy their music if you're able to.
So good to have some quality mc707 content 🙌🙌
Would you consider going over the next step of turning this beat into a full song? I find that I often get short little beats such as this, but I then have trouble expanding it past this point. Loving these tutorials! :)
Not with this device but yeah I'll do that at some point.
@@RedMeansRecording what device would be your chosen tool for this job?
@@RedMeansRecording Sweet, yeah I'd love to see you finish it up in Ableton specifically!
Only u decide when a song is done, no one can teach u that sorry
Quinn Thomas, pretty sure the OP is talking about turning phrases into the full composition of a song, not asking someone to tell them when their song is “done”…
Nice job! Really like the simple, yet detailed video, Jeremy!
Bloody love it! I might have a play with my Deluge over the weekend. Thank you.
Jeremy! I love your content! Your voice is so calming!
Great stuff. Just got an MC707 myself.
I definitely look forward to a series into sampling/chopping :)
Regarding the low volume, maybe the main volume is lower than the headphones volume?
_Chopped Salad_ . I get it!
Ayyyyyyyy
Is there a way to treat all the chops as one. If I want to play around with different pitch its no option to change the pitch on 16 pads just to try out things. Or a way to select all pads and make changes to all of them at the same time. Also, can you set a drum track to mono instead of choke groups? Thats what I always to on mpc 1000.
Loved it - good work
I would love to see a 3 producers 1 sample video! It would be amazing!
It would've been awesome for you to add some synths to your next chop. That ending chop was so cool but I would've loved to see some interesting pads added.
As always, amazing stuff!
Bravo
beat is killin' 🔥
this is perfect dawless machine
Cool :)
You know who chops like a mad man? Gotye. Almost all his stuff is made out of little itty bitty samples. A great hiphop chopper is Exile. Kay bye
Can you do a video on this MC-707 vs the Maschine +
Hi, Jeremy! This one was so nice! Much better than the first one! Could you please make a video showing us how you would use this clip in a full piece, with intro, verse, chorus and outro? Or isn't it supposed to be used like that? Thank you and cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷!
I will once I have the maschine+
How did you fix the overlapping when switching the patterns?
Great chops! The flam on the additional snare was driving me crazy tho. The MC707 looks like a different approach to sampling than the Digitakt which is interesting.
Are you going to do a video on the new 1.6 update. I am looking for ways to use the new USB audio feature
more delude pls? maybe some lofi house? or anything pls
Wondering if this could work on the Rample. I know you can load multiple files for one track, would be tricky to sequence though.
So this either mean that you got to keep the 707 or... that you recorded it a long time ago. Or you bought one.
Anywho love it!
Link to the recommended channels? I know about Accurate Beats, but not the other guy and I think I might enjoy his channel

Working on that Ghost Dog sequel soundtrack J? Now lets get Jim Jarmush and , I don't know, John Boyega on board call it Ghost Dog:Shinobi or something and were about half way there...
is your volume low because the project volume setting is still at 100 (default)? bump it up to 127 if you haven't already.
Is IT possible cut off sample also this one already installed in 707 to modulate with pitch , decay kind of like in arturia Drumbrut impact?will be grateful for reply
"I don't really need more gear" RMR uploaded a new video "ooh no..."
Hi Jeremy, love this one as much as the last. Have been extensively looking into sampling options and came across iPad apps which appeal to me. You dabbled in iOS music for a bit but didn’t really continue with it. Is there any reason for that? Downsides of iPad recording?
All ipad daws are hell for piano toll editing.
@@RedMeansRecording agreed, apart from NanoStudio 2 which is great (and I hear good things about Atom piano roll)
can this be done on the deluge?
The Thing
Anyone know if you can chop on the MC101 as well or just the 707?
The question I have is about the part where you switched patterns and mentioned that the choke was disregarded. That seems like an issue. Could you further clarify? It’s understandable if the sounds in the 2nd pattern are not on the same choke group, but did you say the ones on the same choke group were disregarded? In other samplers I usually trim the last sample precisely if I’m moving into chops in a DIFFERENT group in the 2nd pattern.
haha i spot with my little eye a ramy leaving a comment in a random youtube video, zinga zorch!
Moarr vids of chops using samples from Lawrence Welk episodes
Is it a sampling machine?
Yes it does that

what dies flipping a sample mean?
Google
It means to take the sample in it current sonic state and re-compose it into a banger... To flip a sample is like a slang for saying we remixed it, revamped it... with a twist
