Hey Scott, I'm new to your channel and there's no way in God's green earth anyone should complain about anything you say or do! Straight away, I see that you care! This passion and knowledge you posses is being taken for granted by those that do not see how much time, money you are contributing to their detailing lives! Sure there's room for debate, this is how we can all learn and improve. I for one say thank you!

They complain because the videos are boring to watch, they go on and on and on for ever repeating everything. JUST GET TO THE POINT. Also standing between the camera and what you are doing does not help as all we see is the person's back - because it is nearer to the lens of the camera. It is best to move the camera to a different unobstructed view.
People make lots of mistakes. He might be an absolute wizard at cleaning cars - but he doesn't have much ability when it comes to explaining anything or demonstrating or making videos. It would be best to get someone else to do it, or watch some of the amazing youtube tutorials on how to make videos.

Just got to say how much I have learned from watching your videos Scott. You are a great teacher. I love that you don’t just say “ Do this” or “Don’t do that”, but you actually explain your reasons and logic behind your advice. You are doing an awesome job and I can’t thank you enough for demystifying all the bulls*it and jargon in the industry and making it clear and simple. Thank you for all the work you put into your videos.

First, I want to comment about all the idiots out there who have nothing better to do than to disparage a guy who is trying to help you in your detailing business. Go make your own videos and see what it feel like to have your efforts attacked. I am sure Scott doesn't mind constructive criticism, but most of the negative comments have ZERO value because they are coming from a nasty, mean spirited place. I applaud Scott for his efforts, and the willingness to share his techniques that he uses in his own successful business.
Now on to a specific question about this video. Scott, I have a horrible time getting windows truly clean. 1. Does this method apply to the interior side of the window as well? 2. Some recommend clay barring and waxing the window. Do you ever do that?
At this point I believe my issue is that I am not getting the interior window cleaned before applying my glass cleaner. I don't know if it is a greasy build up or what, but when I apply the glass cleaner I wipe and wipe and wipe and essentially all that I am accomplishing is smearing whatever is on the glass around. I'll look at it at one angle and it looks good, then i'll look at another angle and it looks like crap. I have heard that interior glass receives the gases released from the plastic dashboards due to the heat. This makes sense to me. I need to better approach and method because I am spending too much time and not getting the results I want. Also, do you have a specific rotation of how you use your micro fibers towels? What I mean is, do you use certain micro fiber towels exclusively for windows? I use one for cleaning and one dry one for wiping. Also, what is your opinion on waffle weave towels? Are they worth using? Scott, sorry I rambled on a bit! LOL Love, brutha

    • @mrlooneycooney8948
      @mrlooneycooney8948 6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

yups that works very well indeed.
There's also something easier/cheaper and many of us already have it in the kitchen...vinegar!
Mix it 1/10 with water , dip a small spunge in it and rub it over the window , wipe it off with a grease-free papertowel ( mostly the blue ones found at carshops) . After this use a glasscleaner.
Vinegar losens every greasy stuff aswell as prevents stripe-wiping afterwards , it just smells a bit ;-)
Another pro-tip, always end your last wiping vertically! Doing this prevents stripe-warping when it gets dirty again, and when the sun shines on it when done horizontally it can be clearly seen. Doing it vertically it doesn't obstruct your sight while driving ;-)

Jeffrey Santaite I’ve used vinegar or cleaner without ammonia then I use Unnatured Alcohol on the wiper blades. As for cloths I use microfiber like you and have colors for each category then I love the waffle ones. They pick up more.

Jeffrey Santaite I have been using Clear Vue Glass Polish from turtle wax and that works very well! Especially for the inside and the contamination we all have. Apply it to the windshield, let it dry and wipe it off. Just remember to do this before cleaning the interior because there will be some dust when you wipe it off. I am not a fan of turtle wax, but this stuff works! Greetings from The Netherlands.

Scott: A great big thank you for all the work and time you have put into your series of training and information videos. I am retired and made a huge investment in a new 40 foot Newmar motor home. During the first year I applied a coat of McGuire’s Liquid Wax. I am ow coming up on year two and know that I need to do some work if I want to preserve the beautiful Finish on my rig - but I didn’t know how. So, I have watched many, many hours of videos n TH-cam and became ever more confused. Then, I found your channel, watched pretty much everything you have put out and feel I have now earned my masters degree for non-professional finish maintenance. The detail and explain actions that you provide really hit the sweet spot for me. Wow - I know that you love the technology and methods of Finnish protection and you also love sharing your knowledge with others who are interested in learning on to maximize their investment in products but more importantly the investment in time. Ok I am off to really taking care of my rig. 40 feet and12 feet highs. May need shoulder replacement in this 72 year old body at the end. Your the best. Thanks so much.

I’ve used the scotch pad white color pad, that’s their fine pad with amazingly fast results and no scratching. The color of the scotch pad determines how fine or course it is. For example the gray pad is recommended for buffing up new plastic trim before priming and paint. I will first douse the window with a lot of window spray as a lubricant, then lightly run the pad over all areas, then spray again and wipe and it’s super clean and fast. I first found this pad when it shipped with some window tint I bought and installed on all of the upstairs windows in my house. Needless to say after all of the windows, I got really good at cleaning and prepping glass making sure there wasn’t even a speck of dust on them before applying the big sheets of tint.

Hi Scott, great info! I used this technique, with substitutions, on our Optima, the back glass on that car is almost horizontal, gets dirty easily, with this technique the back glass, in the rain, practically wipes itself off! Side windows too. I wore off the wax on the windshield on the rain but I can touch that up. Thanks!

I discovered a product called "CRL "Sparkle" Cleaner and Stain Remover -it comes in a 8 oz. Bottle" This is a professional glass product, not abrasive. I also use a small non abrasive plastic scouring pad & water when applying in a circular motion. It dries to a haze, like wax. I remove it with a wet towel, or paper towel, usually wet with window cleaner... to avoid powder. Then once removed I wash the windows once more. This is, without any reservations the very easiest, best performing way to clean your glass. One bottle will do at least 20+ cars. Try it, professional strength, used by the glass industry worldwide, and most of all, all spots, everything gone off your windows, and as the name of the product says, the glass will sparkle.

Great videos - I have a older garaged Jaguar that I use as a daily driver. And I clean the windshield every single morning before I drive. Not super clean every day; just glass cleaner, followed by the brown paper towels from gas stations out by the pumps that I cop a few every time I fill up, then just wipe down with a microfiber towel. And I'm good to go. Super cleaning happens once a month. My philosophy is that I clean my glasses every morning before I start the day, so... why not my windshield? Makes sense to me.

Scott. Thanks for your take. Steel wool (0000), when used with a lubricant that is somewhat oily or wet, or sticky in nature will confine the steel wool to the glass. You then 'collect' the tiny pieces of wool with the cloth of your choice wiping gently across the surface. Re-wetting the surface after your first wipe-down with ( whatever it is you're using) , the steel wool is collected pretty nicely. Your point on the steel wool when used dry is a good point. But with a continual wet surface as you use the steel wool it isn't much of a problem. I can buy a lot of steel wool for the price of the 266.

Try fabric softener sheets. Wet one, and thoroughly wipe your windshield. The chemicals in the sheet dry pretty fast and leave a haze. Just wash the windshield with soap and water (whatever you used to wash the rest of your vehicle) and rinse. The water just beads off your windshield now. A very cheap but extremely affective way to remove bug guts and super clean your windshield.

I used steel wool once to get rid of realy bad water spots from my windshield. Bad idea! But, it was the only way to get rid of 'em at the time. Thanks! This just might help me out since the rainy season's about to start soon.

I discovered a great cleaner inside and outside - esp. bug stuff. It's Magic Eraser - or what I use it the Dollar Store version of magic eraser. I tried cleaning my sons Acura windshield inside and just couldn't get it really clean until I tried this. - OPPS I was writing this as I was listening to this video and then I heard Scott mention the magic eraser too. Well I give magic eraser 5 stars as a cheap cleaner.

Thanks. Ive tried all sorts of glass cleaner with varying results.
    I'm going to try this.
I cant get Citrol Citrus degreaser over here, but I have something very similar.
Like everything. I'll try it on my truck before I use it on a customers vehicle :-)

Have started to watch all your video's ,very informative thanks.
Any alternative made by super clean to
deep clean a window as good as citrol.
Citrol is quite expensive looking for a less expensive choice.

Using your tips, technique and Citrol I cleaned a 22 year old windshield for my mother in law. The windshield came out spectacular and the clarity is that of a new windshield. The rear glass came out good too however I wasn't able completely get all of the pollutants off. Needless to say I scored some major points. Thanks for the video.

Hey Scott. I'm very new to this topic of car care and have learned a LOT from your presentations. But I have a good glass tip for you. "Quick-Glo Fine" chrome cleaner and rust remover....that is amazing for glass. There is a video on the Jay Leno channel.

Hi Scott. Great tips! I was caught in a sandstorm outside of Vegas. The glass is somewhat pitted, noticeable facing sun. I suppose the clear is also pitted but I can't notice. Is there something to do aside from replacing the glass? Maybe a coating? Ceramic? Any thoughts?

Do you think that goo be gone would work similarly? I'm not a detailer just on my own vehicle. Also thank you for all your pointers on paint correction I was able to achieve a level of shine on my vehicle that is outstanding I always get compliments. I went out and bought a DA polisher I bought the McGuire's compound polish that you recommend for beginners as well as a Turtle Wax compound and I was amazed at the results also I followed it up with a Meguiars liquid wax
