      Hello! I have a question to ask if you don't mind.
      So last month i got into an accident and the upper joint of my right hand thumb was fractured into three pieces I got the surgery and the bones were held together with wires. Now yesterday the wires were removed but their is still swelling on the thumb . Is it normal?and will i be able to bend the thumb if the swelling fades off?
      Thank You

    I'm so glad you are uploading videos frequently again. I went to hand PT for a dislocated finger and do more of your exercises than anything I learned. It's been 6.5 months since the dislocation and the finger swelling still needs to go down so I wrap it like you recommend.
    I hope you can help guide me by answering a question. In the mornings, I often feel that the finger is stiff and nowadays I'll just pop the knuckle for the finger that was dislocated to loosen its up so it can wrap to make a fist fully like the other fingers. Is this bad and is there anything I can do to not need to pop the knuckle to get it to function fully. It's not re-dislocating since it was a interphalangeal joint dislocation at the knuckle and I just pop it by pushing the knuckle down. I will try to reconnect with my PT to ask since my sessions ended but hopefully you can also give me some guidance since you have great advice. I was thinking of wrapping it and not fully extending it straight for awhile with hopes that some sort of healing would make it not need to be popped for relief but I am not sure!
    If you cannot give any advice because it goes against your policy, then perhaps you can let me know if I am better off visiting my hand surgeon doctor (I did not need surgery but he did the x rays) or if I can get the help and info I need from my hand PT.
    Thank you!

    Hello Michelle, I have been doing the exercices you recommended for my wrists every day since last February. It really helped me going through a very long and snowy winter. I will keep doing those exercices everyday. I think the exercices you are suggesting to improve fingers flexibility are very helpful too and I will add them to my daily routine. Keep up the good work !

    Hello Michelle! I recently got TBW ORIF surgery on my olecranon, and it's been three weeks but my doctor still hasn't referred me to a physiotherapist. I'm quite concerned since I've read rehabilitation program should be started right away. I was put in a sling for 2 weeks and now my doctor has instructed me to do extension exercises. any tips or thoughts? my flexion and suppletion are really bad because my skin is so tight

    Thanks for the video,i had a wrist injury 9yrs ago and started feeling stiffness in my first 3 fingers,the last two are normal.The doctor didnot stitch the cut muscle back then.I now notice the affected hand getting slimmer,please what do i do.I noticed that the other exercise you shared in your other video where you flexed the fingers individually helped as the thumbed is no longer stiff as the other 2 after it.I am not comfortable with the reduction in my hand compared to the other,please kindly advice me on what to do,i would really appreciate your kindness.Thanking you in anticipation.

    Hello Michelle
    I broke the DIP joint in my fifth proximal digit six months ago, and I wore a splint for 8 weeks based on the X-ray and orthopedic consultation.
    I still have a mallet finger deformity after taking the splint off since the injury was in the extensor tendon which pulled a piece of bone and I can’t fully extend my finger. Is it still possible to undergo a K-wire surgery to fix my droopy finger, or is it too late?

    Unrelated to this video, but I might have boutonniere syndrome due to a laceration on my finger. This happened 2 weeks ago and I just now discovered that I require a splint. Since my cut is mostly healed, I wonder: is my finger beyond repair now? Will I need surgery? I've been wearing a splint for 3 days and see no difference when I take it off (to shower etc).

    • @VirtualHandCare
      @VirtualHandCare  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Make sure you get thoroughly instructions on splint wear. A Boutonnière requires 24/7 splint wear and then a weaning program after healing. It should not be removed without support!

    Hi can you please help me .
    Its been three months now that i have had my tendon surgery , on my fingers . I am still getting morning stiffiness bad. i do all the exercise told . Is that normal ; considering its been nearly 3 months now, and i am still getting all this stiffness , how long can stiffness last in fingers ? . Rigth hand i can make a fist and left hand i cant ,that my main problem ,why do i still have stiffness in morning like a rod in my fingers , and how long will stiffiness last after a fingers tendon surgery ? Thank you in advance.
    Rigth hand is stiffiness is better then left .

    • @VirtualHandCare
      @VirtualHandCare  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Finger stiffness can take up to a year or longer depending on the injury. The reason why the morning is the worst is because you aren’t moving for a long length of time and usually still have swelling in the joints.

    This one my copy paste comment from another video of yours .
    My right hand middle finger was totally broken in two pieces and done surgery on feb 7 2022 using K wire . K Wire was removed after 45 days and after that i felt pain in joints so i was afraid of moving or doing exercise for my fingers . And now its like 4 months and my finger still stiff and little bit pain on the joints , I am going to physio therapy for some exercises from 10 days now i got little bit movement on my finger . But it is still stiff middle finger middle joint still stiff , middle joint bend downward but not upward . Is it late I am afraid is it going to stay like that forever ,,,,, Please reply you know better . Doctor asked me to do exercises and i didnt , now i will do exercise but is it going to get mobilty or my finger gona remain stiff for life time because its been 4 months . I am not good at english so it will be hard for you to understand what i wrote . If you can reply it will be helpful life saving for me .

    • @VirtualHandCare
      @VirtualHandCare  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can take 6-12 months and consistent daily exercises. Progress will be slow but you should notice improvements over time. Make sure you see a hand therapist, someone that specializes in the hand!
