    Nice I got a 2000 Nissan altima. But I used FixyourNissan video because it was already there. :)

    FWIW, that crank nut is a 36MM or 1-1/16" works too. The crankshaft damper doesn't need a puller to remove it. Rubber mallet and it comes right off.

      I would stick to metric being a foreign car. The bolt is 27mm, plus a 36mm and 1-1/16" are not even close to the same size. I also wouldn't hammer on stuff either, puller is much easier.

      Ha/// Whoops you're right. the 36MM is the axle bolts. 1-1/16" or 27mm and it fits the crank nut perfect. After about 7/8" SAE and metric are pretty much interchangeable. Besides, we are talking about an altima. I've got 242K miles on mine. It's been a good beater car, but it's still a piece shit.

    I have a 1997 bought the car from a lady back in October and she told me it needs an oilseal I haven't gotten it checked out yet but Ima do it soon as possible before I start up the car I check oil and there's nothing but when I cranked it up then it's oil showing on the stick

    How did you break the bolt yet keep the damper from spinning?

      I don't remember it being to hard to get off while all the belts were still on. An impact wrench would work.

    Do I need to set up the timing Chain prior to removing the camshaft?

    • @jagboy69
      @jagboy69 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      no.. The camshaft isn't removed for this seal replacement.

      The tensioner is typically on the idle pulley, the small one with a smooth non ribbed surface, most Nissans have manually adjusted tensioners and you simply loosen the center bolt and adjust the tension using the other bolt on the side or underneath where the idler pulley is mounted, placement will differ from model to model but all Nissans should be similar

    Is it the same on a 2006 altima

      Its not exactly the same. I would grab a factory service manual, its better then any video will be.

    Whats the seal part number?

      It’s been so long I don’t remember. Best bet would be to call the dealer and give your vin number. I find Nissan makes higher quality parts when it pertains to seals and gaskets. You also know for sure it’s the correct part.
