When Carly is old enough to watch this. She is gonna learn how much Catelynn loved her so much. How much she gave up her own choices to make sure she was safe and loved. She will learn how hard it was for catelynn to give her up. And that a mothers love will never go away
I feel so bad for Cate and Tyler, but mostly Cate. Poor girl really had no support from her family. She looked like she totally disassociated from the situation when Carly was born. Thank goodness Tyler’s mom was there for them both.
I don't like him. He's really inconsiderate toward Caitlin about her reservations and just toward her opinions in general. I also can't believe they're still married. He's gonna come out of the closet eventually.

Butch has a lot of nerve telling Tyler, a 16 year old boy, that he didn't man up.... I think his decision was very manly and considerate of Carly.... That's the most selfless decision you could make as a parent... I love that they had her best interest at heart... They protected their baby girl in a way by defending their decision of giving her to the adoptive family to Tyler's dad... No one can tell me they're not the best parents for that
Watching this is so surreal, knowing how everything turns out. I don’t feel that way about the other Teen Moms. They never would have been picked for TM if they didn’t give Carly up. They gave Carly up bc they were young, in a very unstable environment and knew their parents couldn’t help and would make it work. But bc of the show, they made a ton of money and stayed together. It’s a double edge sword. Everything Cate said she wanted she got… everything but Carly. It breaks me.
And tbh i kindof blame the show a lil. Because we are unsure if they made any money from 16 and pregnant or teen mom at first. But from watching Kailyn on teen mom 2 she had a dysfunctional household as well and after staying with joe she found a resource that helps single mothers get housing and assistance. People do abuse the system but there are people who really need it and that what it should be meant for.
@@MsJonessss they didn’t make much. 16 and pregnant was literally maybe a few hundred dollars for each family member for the first few 16 and pregnant seasons. TM was the same, season 3-4 is when we start seeing growth in monetary ways for them.
the communication between tyler and catelynn is so different from maci and ryan. i feel so sorry for this couple, going through so much with their crazy parents. these kids act more reasonable than their own parents.

@amberdaly2856 Brandon and Teresa paid the adoption agency 25 000 US But that does not include other fees like court costs and lawyer fees. This is blatant human trafficking. There should be no profit in the adoption process. UK is doing the right thing to make it free

If you notice, of all those early teen mom couples, only the two who chose adoption ended up together and in a healthy relationship. When Tyler says keeping her would end them, he’s most likely correct. 💕
Yeah statistically teen parents break up the vast majority of the time and the father is usually out of the picture by the time the kid is 2. It sucks because you can clearly see that giving up Carly hurts them but if they hadn’t given up Carly they most likely wouldn’t have each other or their daughters.
You can tell they wasnt a complete match . Catelyn was wanting a lot of contact & Theresa went with it since she was wanting a child so bad but knew she didn't want as much contact as Catelyn was hoping for

Aww I'm the same age as these 2 and I remember watching this and bawling my eyes out 😢 watching it again in 2024 and my heart breaks for them, the agency took advantage of 2 young children. Thankfully they've weathered many storms together and are happily married with their other children. Hopefully when Carly is 18 they'll be able to reunite and get the long awaited happy ending they deserve x
Couldn’t agree w you more!! That adoption agency was NOT looking out for them and how sad, they had an agreement and it was hard watching Caitlyn wait for a correspondence from Teresa and NOTHING .. That was BS!! I cant wait for Carly to show up at their house one day, give it time it WILL happen IMO.. Caitlyn and Tyler love her incredibly and she bonded w them ..She was being comforted by her adoptive father after one of their visits w cait & Ty , oh Carly WILL be going to them when’s able to just give it a few more years.. I think a lot of Catelynn’s mental health issues with the extreme anxiety and depression stems from the adoption of their first baby….i feel so bad for her she seemed like she didn’t want to the whole time
Am I the only one wondering where was CPS for Caitlyn and Tyler back then? Obviously they weren’t being taken care of well then because their parents were junkies.
Years later you can tell Catelynn regretted her decision by being highly emotional about this. Especially since she thought it was going to be an open adoption. They got what they wanted for their baby, financial stability and love. But I'm sure if they knew they would turn out fine, they would have not given the baby up.
Open adoptions are guaranteed the first 4 years. After that it's up to the adopted parents. B&T have continued to keep C&T in Carley's life and in the loop much longer than that. Even after C&T continued to step over every boundary B&T tried to place. Caitlin has a right to feel everything she is feeling, but airing out everything in the public eye is just going to make it harder to reconcile with B&T. This all should only be about Carley. I hope one day they can all get along again for the sake of Carley and that Carley chooses to be in their lives once she turns 18, because ultimately it's up to her and she's currently 15, who really knows what her exact feelings about this are.
It’s 2024 & I think Carly is about the age Cate & Tyler were in this video. I hope she knows how much all 4 of her parents love her . She’s a very special girl in many of our hearts ❤️❤️❤️❤️
These two are the most unselfish teenagers ive ever seen. Cate and Tyler are amazing loving people. They could of easily of changed their minds and took her home with them but no matter how heartbreaking it was they put carly first and that shows how mature they were at that age. Theyve always been my favorite couple on the show. Now they are incredible parents to their three girls.

Wow had tears in my eyes. How kids can take decisons like that, they are not 16 but adults, really wonderfull. As a mother I have really respect for their decison, i am in my 30's and is even at that age not simple to raise kids but you love them like nobody else and just want the best for them
It's so sad that her mom April refused to support her daughter through the hardest & most difficult time in her life. Despite she didn't agree with her, she added to the stress, and overall anxiety to the situation. A girl definitely needs her mom through this situation

If you go look at the reviews for Bethany Christian Services a lot of people had the same experience as Tyler & Cate & say the same thing where they were thrown for a loop & told lies as well. This adoption agency and the employees who work there are super shady!
yeah like at first it was open adoption but then as carly got to a few years old they kinda changed their minds an then the whole arguments about mtv not filming carly, but shes 15 now so in 3 years hopefully they can see more of her
I placed my sone for adoption hardest thing ive ever dont but as a mom ill make any sacrifice to make sure my kid lives in a safe home where he can flourish its open adoption and last time i saw him the hug he gave me made everything ok in the world
The fact that all these years later, Cate and Tyler are still married and have more children together, is a true testament to their maturity and love for each other. I know it hasn’t always been smooth sailing between them and Brandon and Teresa but that happens with family and now Carly is a teenager herself and will surely see these episodes and know how loved she was from the beginning.
So we have 2 responsible teens that want to give their child away because of how unsafe their house is.. and then we have their 2 alcoholic criminal parents responsible for the unsafe state of the house trying to keep the baby and raise it there… YIKES

I’m sorry, but Brandon and Teresa really rub me the wrong way. just a little things that I picked up on watching this, I notice every little detail. Teresa wasn’t even crying when she was talking to Kaitlyn and giving her the necklace. I was waiting for a tear to drop and not 1! Especially for the gift that Kaitlyn gave them she should’ve been bawling.. I don’t know what it is, but they just really rubbed me the wrong way
It was when Tyler came into tell them that Carly had been born. You could see how excited they were, especially Teresa, and Tyler just looked so sad, like he was about to burst into tears.

I was 17 and had broken up with my boyfriend. I was lucky I had support. Now as a grandmother I would do the same. It's sad their parent I would have to do the same.
They were there so I’m sure they are well aware. At the same time the child’s needs are most important first and foremost and if the bio parents are causing security and safety issues they need to be dealt with.

I had my son at 14. This was back in 2000. I chose to keep him but I did consider adoption. Had I not had my mother there was no way I could’ve kept him. He will be 24 soon and part of the US Navy. I commend Tyler and Catelynn for their selfless act of love for their child. It’s too bad they didn’t have the support I had, they could’ve kept Carly. It was so wrong of Brandon and Theresa to keep them out of Carly’s life the way they have. If it wasn’t for them choosing to put Carly up for adoption, they would still be childless most likely
Feel really bad for how they were pressured by the adopted parents and adoption worker, they weren’t rude but Dawn was a bit pressuring with asking them to “step out” of having their time with friends and family only 5 hours after birth.. it just feels a bit rushed considering how young they were.
Agreed that was very wrong Dawn treated the young couple like they were at a cattle farm supplying a purchase transaction this was completely awful I'm glad Caitlyn's mother refused to sign the forms at the hospital and allowed them to have more time with their newborn before they passed her off to someone else, and I think that the way Teresa and Brandon treat them now is absolutely horrible now I could be wrong, but It comes off as if they were so full of it at the time just to get the child that they wanted I mean they walked into the hospital room for goodness sakes right after she had the baby and then once they got her they backtracked and started to try and act as if they didn't agree to this open adoption.
A trauma bond is basically a person bonded to their abuser in a relationship. Stockholm syndrome basically. It’s not two people bonded by a traumatic event. I used to think it was that as well.
That seems really really sad. I hope they don't ever watch this now bc I'm sure it would be painful for them. Honestly I never noticed that Tyler didn't wanna keep her bc they were so young. But I see it now I'm not faulting them but I could never do that I would never wanna give my daughter away. Especially now seeing how everything turned out I really think they regret going against their instincts.
Carlee wasn’t a toy she was a human being and a lot of thought went into them doing what they did. As a mother you CANT give your baby away for anyone other than yourself and the baby so no I don’t believe that it was for Tyler or because of Tyler. It was a very selfless act they both choose. Over the years you can see that this indeed hurt both of them however I feel it was an unbearable pain that caused a lot of internal trauma for Cait because she kept a lot inside and Tyler on the other hand showed more emotion for the world to see. Either way it hurt and still does. I think they have both went through so much that many will never understand so speculation on why they didn’t isn’t anyone’s business. They did what they did. They have grown into amazing adults and it’s clear it took a lot of work to get where they are today and I applaud both of them. I wish them nothing but the best and as Carlee gets older I hope they can build a relationship with her thats all they want at this point.

Looking back its really sad that they thought adoption was the only option because of financial reasons, not because they didnt want her. They absolutely could have kept her. Tyler couldve worked and they couldve figured it out.
Having this documented is truly a blessing for Carly. She’ll be able to one day see this and know that she was truly wanted however her birth parents were only thinking about her wellbeing and knew that she deserved more than they could give her at their ages. What they did as teenagers is truly commendable and selfless ❤
I felt for the couple cos I went though it at 25 when I went though adoption with my son it's a very hard decision to make and I cryed when he was adopted and meet the adopted parents two I never got him my son

Even just once a year which is really sad to me. I understand they put her up for adoption so they essentially lose any rights to seeing her at all but it’s clear they thought it would be a more open process. Cate was so fed up she went on a rant about it a few weeks ago because they told them once again that they wouldn’t be able to see Carly 😭

I have always cried over this. It tears my heart out. I couldn’t imagine the pain they were in giving that baby up. They were soooo young.
the communication between tyler and catelynn is so different from maci and ryan. i feel so sorry for this couple, going through so much with their crazy parents. these kids act more reasonable than their own parents.

If you notice, of all those early teen mom couples, only the two who chose adoption ended up together and in a healthy relationship. When Tyler says keeping her would end them, he’s most likely correct. 💕
Yeah statistically teen parents break up the vast majority of the time and the father is usually out of the picture by the time the kid is 2. It sucks because you can clearly see that giving up Carly hurts them but if they hadn’t given up Carly they most likely wouldn’t have each other or their daughters.

Aww I'm the same age as these 2 and I remember watching this and bawling my eyes out 😢 watching it again in 2024 and my heart breaks for them, the agency took advantage of 2 young children. Thankfully they've weathered many storms together and are happily married with their other children. Hopefully when Carly is 18 they'll be able to reunite and get the long awaited happy ending they deserve x

I think a lot of Catelynn’s mental health issues with the extreme anxiety and depression stems from the adoption of their first baby….i feel so bad for her she seemed like she didn’t want to the whole time

Years later you can tell Catelynn regretted her decision by being highly emotional about this. Especially since she thought it was going to be an open adoption. They got what they wanted for their baby, financial stability and love. But I'm sure if they knew they would turn out fine, they would have not given the baby up.

Open adoptions are guaranteed the first 4 years. After that it's up to the adopted parents. B&T have continued to keep C&T in Carley's life and in the loop much longer than that. Even after C&T continued to step over every boundary B&T tried to place.
Caitlin has a right to feel everything she is feeling, but airing out everything in the public eye is just going to make it harder to reconcile with B&T. This all should only be about Carley. I hope one day they can all get along again for the sake of Carley and that Carley chooses to be in their lives once she turns 18, because ultimately it's up to her and she's currently 15, who really knows what her exact feelings about this are.
Things only worked out well for them because they gave Carly up. There’s 0 evidence they would have made anything of themselves without the MTV checks

These two are the most unselfish teenagers ive ever seen. Cate and Tyler are amazing loving people. They could of easily of changed their minds and took her home with them but no matter how heartbreaking it was they put carly first and that shows how mature they were at that age. Theyve always been my favorite couple on the show. Now they are incredible parents to their three girls.

Just hearing Tyler saying “keeping her will ruin us” & seeing how he was about the whole adoption thing Cate was 100% put into a messed up situation she was afraid to lose the love of her life over keeping her daughter as a teenager that is extremely overwhelming & traumatizing
"It will ruin us" doesnt necessarily mean as a couple. I interpreted it as meaning seperately it will ruin the both of them.

It's so sad that her mom April refused to support her daughter through the hardest & most difficult time in her life. Despite she didn't agree with her, she added to the stress, and overall anxiety to the situation. A girl definitely needs her mom through this situation
April knew Cate was making a huge mistake and she was right. I'm no fan of April but giving up Carly destroyed Catelynn's life.

The fact that all these years later, Cate and Tyler are still married and have more children together, is a true testament to their maturity and love for each other. I know it hasn’t always been smooth sailing between them and Brandon and Teresa but that happens with family and now Carly is a teenager herself and will surely see these episodes and know how loved she was from the beginning.

Teresa wasn’t even crying when she was talking to Kaitlyn and giving her the necklace. I was waiting for a tear to drop and not 1! It was when Tyler came into tell them that Carly had been born. You could see how excited they were, especially Teresa, and Tyler just looked so sad, like he was about to burst into tears.

They were there so I’m sure they are well aware. At the same time the child’s needs are most important first and foremost and if the bio parents are causing security and safety issues they need to be dealt with.

I had my son at 14. This was back in 2000. I chose to keep him but I did consider adoption. Had I not had my mother there was no way I could’ve kept him. He will be 24 soon and part of the US Navy. I commend Tyler and Catelynn for their selfless act of love for their child. It’s too bad they didn’t have the support I had, they could’ve kept Carly. It was so wrong of Brandon and Theresa to keep them out of Carly’s life the way they have. If it wasn’t for them choosing to put Carly up for adoption, they would still be childless most likely

It's sad to hear their dreams at 16 and that they never went to college after giving her up. They didn't think about future children and all the pain.
Feel really bad for how they were pressured by the adopted parents and adoption worker, they weren’t rude but Dawn was a bit pressuring with asking them to “step out” of having their time with friends and family only 5 hours after birth.. it just feels a bit rushed considering how young they were.
I feel like Dawn was very inconsiderate when she asked them to have family step out. Dawn took advantage of these teenagers.

Agreed that was very wrong Dawn treated the young couple like they were at a cattle farm supplying a purchase transaction this was completely awful I'm glad Caitlyn's mother refused to sign the forms at the hospital and allowed them to have more time with their newborn before they passed her off to someone else, and I think that the way Teresa and Brandon treat them now is absolutely horrible now I could be wrong, but It comes off as if they were so full of it at the time just to get the child that they wanted I mean they walked into the hospital room for goodness sakes right after she had the baby and then once they got her they backtracked and started to try and act as if they didn't agree to this open adoption.

Carlee wasn’t a toy she was a human being and a lot of thought went into them doing what they did. As a mother you CANT give your baby away for anyone other than yourself and the baby so no I don’t believe that it was for Tyler or because of Tyler. It was a very selfless act they both choose. Over the years you can see that this indeed hurt both of them however I feel it was an unbearable pain that caused a lot of internal trauma for Cait because she kept a lot inside and Tyler on the other hand showed more emotion for the world to see. Either way it hurt and still does. I think they have both went through so much that many will never understand so speculation on why they didn’t isn’t anyone’s business. They did what they did. They have grown into amazing adults and it’s clear it took a lot of work to get where they are today and I applaud both of them. I wish them nothing but the best and as Carlee gets older I hope they can build a relationship with her thats all they want at this point.

Even just once a year which is really sad to me. I understand they put her up for adoption so they essentially lose any rights to seeing her at all but it’s clear they thought it would be a more open process. Cate was so fed up she went on a rant about it a few weeks ago because they told them once again that they wouldn’t be able to see Carly 😭
This was hard to watch back then but it is a hundred times harder to watch knowing how things turned out.
It appears Tyler is more of a real man than his own father because Tyler wants to do what is best for his unborn daughter. He knows Catelynn and himself are too young and unprepared to raise children.
Cate and Tyler were so mature about the pregnancy and decided that adoption was the best option especially considering how little support they had ❤❤ they made the best decision for all, including the baby at that time of their lives they were under so much pressure by their parents yet they held strong in their decision 😊 shame on their selfish parents for not thinking about the best interests of their children and their grandchild, they should be ashamed of themselves but they won’t ever acknowledge that their kids are way more mature than they are capable even understanding 😢💔
