    So cute, shocked Tesla doesn't come with this feature as standard. Use it all the time on my X4 but it flashes the indicators to show a indication its opening and when closing it'll beep and close the car.

    I installed one on my Y today and it works great opening but a little iffy on the closing.

    Hi Brian. Recently, the most exciting thing has come out from Hansshow. The Model 3 SR+ Audio Upgrade package!
    There are a lot of us SR+ owners out there who would LOVE to upgrade the audio system in our cars. As you know, the SR+ comes (6) 'dead' speakers, and no sub.
    Hansshow offers new audio upgrade options, from basic wiring to enable the (6) disconnected speaker, to adding an amp & sub, or even replacing the existing factory speakers.
    I just ordered the 'Professional Kit' and can't wait to install. You should do one of these upgrades. This is one upgrade that will really be attractive to SR+ guys!

    In your excellent demonstration, you pan down early in the video and the car's hitch area shows an orange and black loop sticking out of the hitch area. What is that? Thanks again.

    Hi Brian,
    Have a question unrelated to your subject. After installing your yakima roof rack, did you have some kinda wind noise or hissing noise afterward? Didn’t have problem with wind noise prior installing yakima roof rack but now I do, only on high speed though 65mph and above. Or anyone else reading this comment have the same issue as mine? Thanks. Great video by the way, love all your vids, keep ‘em coming.

    this is cool, but I have the key fob which is easy to open trunk with while approaching the trunk area which seems to work well enough....

      @@i1Tesla yes, I totally get that, and it's cool. and I am considering it. usually what I do is, at a distance is bump the fob trunk button and then grab the goods to put in the trunk. so i am approaching it and it's already open and I don't have to stand on one foot and wait for it to open. this is definitely a cool add-on but I am not sure I NEED it. :D

    I have ordered a model Y but its going to cost me a a lot in aftermarket accessories.
    Motorised Frunk
    Soft close on both front and rear trunk
    Suspension
    head up display or dash screen
    Floor mats
    I want to wrap the car.
    Gosh! Its a lot.

    The kit now comes with a handy fish tape. This makes it easier to thread the wire. It also comes with a little wire loop go help attach the long wire to the fish tape. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHOULD YOU USE THIS!!! It took me about an hour of arm scraping time to finally cut the wire loose after it became bound inside the hatch channel. I didn't want to yank it out but it got stuck about halfway, of course. Use good old electrical tape to attach the wire to the fish tape. Seriously. You've been warned.

    I just installed mine, and unfortunately, it doesn't work. Did I do something wrong? Did I get a dud?
    Luckily, the physical button still works, but the foot sensor doesn't work when I wave my hand/foot in front of it.

    @scottbreseke716 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tesla was trying to keep the cost of the Model 3 down (I know his is a Model Y, but the 3 and the Y share features). To go against this idea and increase the cost of the car instead you have to add on features such as this. I usually don't open the back end much, so no biggie either way.

    Hey great video, it was really helpful! However, I'm currently in the process of installing this sensor in my car. And the problem I've run into is not being able to feed the sensor cable through the tailgate pillar. How were you able to run this cable through? Any suggestions?

    How sensitive is the sensor. For example, if a cat or squirrel ran under the car, would it set off the sensor. It’s really fast and would be a nice addition to the Y.

    • @TalkingTasman
      @TalkingTasman 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did install a footsensor on my X, with about the same hardware. That has a huge limitation: when you close the trunk by hand or use the screen or fob, the unit does not know if the trunk is open or closed and then simply fails. How this does product work in that scenario Brian? Can you test?

    • @i1Tesla
      @i1Tesla  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is just adding the new way of opening the trunk. The screen shoes open the whole time it it open. It works as normal.

    • @morriec9868
      @morriec9868 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Talking Tasman With or without the kick sensors from Hansshow the screen shows open when the trunk is not latched and closed when it is latched. No intermediary status. Not sure what you are expecting from your description, and am sorry but not sure in what way it "simply fails". More detail of step by step what happens could address your question.

      It works the same as pressing the trunk handle. The trunk would have to be unlocked (or you would have to be standing next to the trunk and have the key with you). Fortunately, the car automatically locks all doors and trunks as soon as you go above 5 MPH (8 KPH).

  • @shermancam5374

      I believe his foot was not high enough off the ground to trigger it? In any case, all Tesla power liftgates already come with anti-pinch technology, so even if it were to bump into something (him) while closing, it would automatically stop and open up again
