    One thing I think some folks are not understand about full self driving and the monthly fee of $100. That is not an auto monthly charge. You can pay for the month of March only....and not want it again until June and then pay the $100 for the month of June. I'm retired and will take a few trips a year and will pick it up for those months but to be honest, if I am driving around to the store or going to the gym....I would much rather drive the car. It's fun. Hope you find this helpful.

      @Polychaser I think it's a pretty good deal. There's nothing out there that approaches it. GM and Ford have software that's good, but it only works on most highways. Tesla's goes everywhere. $5/day and the car drives you to and from work. My wife loves it only her car, but I'm not a fan of it yet. I might be after the next one or two updates.

    Good info. I love how a lot of people think that they don't need to do maintanence on gas cars! Tires, cabin air filters, washer fluid, wiper blades...those things need to be done on a regular vehicle also. I don't understand why SOME folks think that it's a 'hidden' cost. Can't wait to see your next road trip series.. are you doing the Blue Whale again? Cadilac Ranch? My daughter and I did the St Louis Arch this summer when we drove to Pennsylvania. Good times.

    As a new Tesla owner I'm finding it's not cheaper than gas. Really depends on the car and gas prices. I'm currently traveling on the Oregon coast. Electric is at 0.44 kWh. Meanwhile gas here is 2.47. I could fill my Prius for 25 bucks and go 400 miles. With my model 3 just charging from 20-80% cost me 20 bucks. Worst part is I'm only getting about 220 miles at 100% charge. I also used Tesla insurance for 1 month just to get the car home, 194 for a month! My registration was pretty spendy in Oregon also, 1100.

    • @vegasteslafamily
      @vegasteslafamily  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Tesla insurance will be a lot cheaper once you get a good safety score. Also supercharging is more expensive on the west coast - I’m not surprised there. At home charging will save you a ton though!

    • @GrumpyWolfTech
      @GrumpyWolfTech หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@vegasteslafamily It's actually only 0.21 near my house right outside Portland. But here on the coast in these vacation towns it's super expensive, while the gas prices are about 50 cents a gallon cheaper which makes no sense to me.

    • @skylersummers5400
      @skylersummers5400 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I’m in Wilsonville and charge exclusively at home. Changed my PGE plan to “Time of day” use so it’s .08 kWh for off peak so I only charge nights and weekends. My electric bill has also gone down significantly since owning my Tesla and charging at home. My Tesla insurance is under $115 month for myself and wife. Safety score of 95 cause I just drive it normally. My 21 M3LR is still getting just under 280 miles at 80%. In every measurable way this is a savings compared to Gas car here. Comparing this car to your Prius is absurd and having owned both you already know that. I did enjoy my 2015 prius for what’s its worth, but the safety and ability to drive on I-5 safely, especially with the speed these animals drive these days would be worth more money to me.
      I can’t believe fuel is so cheap at the coast? Cheapest place in town here is $3.99 unless you go to Costco.

    First off young man, I want to congratulate you for your chosen career field. The second thing I wanted to bring up is camping mode? It’s my understanding. There is plenty of room to for example use the car as a sleeping platform at an RV site anywhere in America. There is also a special plug-in that can be used at an RV 50 amp style plug. Have you tried any of this yet? I’m sorry I saw this on another channel, but it locked details. I would’ve liked to heard more about. Thank you.

    • @vegasteslafamily
      @vegasteslafamily  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thank you! We have camped the car without plugging in, but as fast as at a camp site we haven’t tried it - but that is all true. If you want to use a 50amp outlet, you will need to buy an adapter for the mobile connector. The mobile connector comes with the standard 120v connector. With how little energy camp mode uses, the 50amp might be overkill unless you wanna camp and get a full charge overnight.

      @@vegasteslafamily Those quotes are really high. I live an hour north of Toronto. Insurance for our EV is $79 CDN per month with full coverage. My wife is secondary driver. It’s the only car in the family. We make the monthly payment and insurance. Our city has free level 2 charging a minute walk from our apartment. There are no yearly registration or other fees to use the roads in Ontario. Maintenance is very cheap also. Not sure how much longer I’ll get away with this but it’s dirt cheap driving now. Gas is about $4.30 U.S. per gallon. ($1.60 CDN per litre).

      @@taiter94 seems like the insurance company is really beating her up because of her record. $377 a month for just you is still stupid expensive. Call CAA insurance. Trust me, it’ll be the lowest quote.

      They're not cheap, but you may get the Federal tax credit and other government incentives as well. They go through tires faster, but there's little else to maintain. They deprecate faster, but have an 8 year/100 miles warranty on the battery pack. What are you figuring?

      You are still coming out way ahead with a Tesla over time with gas savings, oil changes, brake pad/ rotor replacement. Gas savings alone compared to the v8 gas guzzler I sold is $5500 annually. $27,500 for gas over 5 years vs maybe $2000 for new tires every 15k. 60k mile comparison the Tesla is still saving a ton of $ compared to ICE vehicle.

      I'm at 48,000 miles on my original set and they look good for at least another 5k before I hit the wear indicators. I drive in Std mode while my wife drives in Chill. Most of the mileage is with me driving. The Hankook tires are really good.
