- Spongebob Squarepants has had plenty of games throughout his whole lifetime. But there is one game that is known to be the absolute pits of the franchise. And no, that isn't Battle For Bikini Bottom. It's a game that's incomprehensible. But is there any good to be yielded out of the game? Join me as we find out if Spongebob Squarepants Plankton's Robotic Revenge has any redeeming qualities!

Activision buying the SpongeBob game rights was a huge mistake, and thank god it got expired real quickly after when Heropants was released (a way worse version of Plankton's Robotic Revenge)

I’m going to give you a serious answer.
While I’m not sure which was the most hated within their individual communities, I can say that Sonic 06 is much more infamous to the gaming circle as a whole. These two Spongebob games are considered cash grabs, trying to take from the success of Battle For Bikini Bottom, whereas Sonic 06 was trying to reboot the entire franchise. And Sonic 06 is considered to be one of the most awfully made games in history. So, let’s say Sonic 06.
Edit: Researched HeroPants (hadn’t heard of the game before and simply made an assumption), and it’s a game made to advertise the second movie... hoo boy are those usually awful. But it still manages to be (from what I can tell) a semi-ripoff of BFBB. That deserves extra credit for being a crockpot of awful ideas.
Sonic 06 may be awful, but at least it’s a decently lengthen game compared to these other games being really short.

He was paid to lie because Nickelodeon is an evil corporation that doesn't care about anyone. I can imagine Kenny refusing but Nick would be threatening to fire him if he didn't lie.
Nickelodeon is a greedy horrible place that ruins amazing creation that aren't really theirs.

I remember seeing the game every time I went to GameStop or Walmart and wanting it so badly, but now I'm kind of glad I didn't buy it.
I've never heard of Plankton's Robotic Revenge, but I'm really looking forward to Battle for Bikini Bottom! I'm also doing a kind of Spongebob "game". I remember when some people where hyped for this game when the trailer came out, they thought it was a BfBB sequel. I directly saw that it won't be good and not be a BfBB sequel. You could already tell that this game was gonna be bad from the trailer If you have some experience.
But nice review, I enjoyed it.
The gameplay may not be all that good but hey atleast the CGI cutscenes look great 😅

@Tim The Nerd the ds plankton robotic revenge was bad...it was over head with bad grraphics. But the 3ds version fixed that. There are definitely worse spongebob games. Spongebob SquarePants planktons robotic revenge is a decent game

My main complaint is that it's really short.
Also I remember when I first played this game, being an idiot, I didn't know you could change character, buy new weapons, or upgraded them, so I played through the WHOLE GAME as Spongebob with a Level 1 Pickle Blaster.
What about revenge of the Flying Dutchman? I’m not saying this game isn’t bad, but I though ROTFD marked the end of spongebob games.
EDIT: it marked the end of some French game company who worked on it.
I only played the GBA Version of ROTFD it's one of the first SpongeBob SquarePants based games I have played back in my childhood and trust me when I say that I had SO MUCH MORE FUN on the GBA then later playing the console based version I just wasn't feeling it on the PS2 version. I did get know of BFBB Though in those good years on the PS2 and that game is decently well crafted I played other SpongeBob games I loved also but BFBB is just the most notable.
Can't wait for the Rehydrated myself to come... It better be good.
Actually i liked and enjoyed ROTFD as a start to 3D SpongeBob games era. But as we can say ROTFD are way better than Activision SpongeBob games

The last few Spongebob/Nickelodeon games have been garbage. Hopefully THQ Nordic can revive Battle for Bikini Bottom. It would also be nice if they would make more Spongebob games in the future and bring back other games like Spongebob: Lights, Camera Pants.
Is it me, or did the trailer trick the viewer into thinking that it’s the sequel to Battle for Bikini Bottom?

I assume some voice actors don't play the games they act in because that's the civillian equivalent of hearing your voice in a video, except for a few hours.
I think it all started going downhill from Creature from the Krusty Krab. I enjoyed the game but it was really short and painfully easy, with nothing much to do. The saving grace of the game being the huge variety of level designs between what levels were there, and destroying everything as plankton was a blast. Atlantis Squarepantis officially killed spongebob games for me though and I never returned since.
I'll argue Atlantis Squarepantis is decent on the GBA. The console version on PS2/Wii though, man, it was a mess. Just like the special it was based on.

my favorite part of plankton's robotic revenge is the credits.
I remember begging my parents for the game. I was naive at the time. Funnily was that I have completed battle for bikini bottom and truth or quare and I think the movie game and didn't see robot revenge as bad.
I was excepting Revenge of the flying Dutchman but yeah this is pretty bad as well
watching that intro right after playing battle for bikini bottom it frankly could have applied to that imo
I only played the Ds games and I think I know one game that is even worse than Planktons Robotic Revenge its spongebob the yellow avenger the intier game is just back tracking you get a task you complete it and then you talk to the character that gave you the task and you find out what character you have to talk to next but the boss battles are cool and the story line is alright

Some facts: Activision Blizzard and Behaviour Interactive are making fun of Heavy Iron Studios rather than just making bad SpongeBob games, why???
Activision used both ROBOTIC & MOVIE-BASED THEME as the basis of their game which previously used by Heavy Iron Studios.
If PLANKTON ROBOTIC REVENGE is the opposite of BFBB, then HEROPANTS are the opposite of SPONGEBOB MOVIE 1 GAME.
This is somekind of irony that should not happened. It's a total crime, this is not a bad SpongeBob game nor worst SpongeBob game. It's a Hell to SpongeBob games. This game should not existed and i condemn the creators of this game.

Plankton’s Robotic Revenge is like the reverse BTBB.
The music is literally stock music from the show compared to BFBB’s varied and unique music, the bosses are literally the same with the same way to kill them unlike the varied bosses in BTBB, the gameplay is a COMPLETE knockoff of All 4 One where as BFBB was a unique 3D platformer similar to Mario 64 and the like, the locations look bland and boring compared to the amazing looking areas in BFBB, etc etc
Even the plot is a braindead version of BFBB with Plankton using an army of robots to steal the Krabby Patty formula.
It’s like Activision took BFBB and stripped away the passion and soul Heavy Iron created and replaced with a cheap, empty cashgrab.
I went to Gamestop and thought It would be fun.

I actually had this game for Xbox 360 but I could only play it once because somehow or some way every time I tried to play the disc in my Xbox 360 it wouldn't work and I'm so confused why it didn't work after my first try playing it and I never finished it but knowing now that it's truely bad I'm not sure if I'm glad or not that I never finished it in the first place
