What I'm about to say has probably been said a thousand times about this song. There is no better song about love and the terrible things it can do to you. No words can communicate so effectively, so beautifully, the terrible, heart-wrenching feeling of severed attachment. Everything in this song... happened to me... you just have to stand in awe at this fucking genius songwriter. Ian...goddamnit. You really were a very special person.
This is THE version of the song imo. The way Curtis croons "Just that something so good/just don't function no more" like he's Frank Sinatra gets me every time. Some of his best singing was truly ahead. Sigh.
Joy Division has help me through my life at the most miserable state of my life it's amazing what Ian can do even after death, but his music and the band will live on within our hearts.
Absolutely love how their studio and live sounds were very different. They had an intensely raw, visceral live sound. Steve is a brilliant drummer. Not technically flashy but his fills are just perfect.
i've literally tryed to find this song for years hearing the classic guitar in it and adoring it and now my life is fufilled, fucking brillaint, never ever going to stop playing this :)
I'm sure Hooky and Bernard would have said the same back then at least. However, I think Martin Hannett's production made Joy Division a band that was deeply influential across all genres in the years that followed rather than a band that was simply better than most other bands of their time :)
This song has NEVER been off any audio device I have ever owned. From an old C60 mix tapes , vyinal, CDs, all the way thro burnt CD,s to my ipod. A true great.
always has, always will.. the way of it is just a memory now. safely guarded and kept locked inside my heart. I shall never forget the taste of it for the brief time it was.
The drumming here is incredible
Stephen's one of the best underrated drummers
Only Death Is Real Agree with you .Drummer is really fast..just perfect
Completely agree. Been trying to drum to this version well hard.
He is so underated as a drummer
Also this drumming was before drum machines.
Steve is great. His drumming was the foundation of band
"Peel Sessions" has the best versions!
a la Napalm Death
A la the Smiths
Peel session is the best version of 24hrs too.
That's because the musicians had no labels and filthy managers that dictated their sounds, Peel let them do their own thing
@@erebousdeFactory Records also let them do their own thing but Martin Hannett was definitely a bit controlling with the production.
This is the first version of this song I heard and for me it will always be the superior one
I heard this back in 2010 after seeing a skateboard video have their Pennine version. I found this one, Peel sessions always rule.
Fun fact, this is also the first time they recorded this song
The chaos theory of drumming. Sounds all random and all over the place, but everything is where it should be. Incredible drummer.

Agree
Damn
Fuck yes dude.
so true
It's still my favourite version. The British music scene really misses John Peel.
This is THE version of the song imo. The way Curtis croons "Just that something so good/just don't function no more" like he's Frank Sinatra gets me every time. Some of his best singing was truly ahead. Sigh.
+Jay Coburn Even with some of his later performances of "Atmosphere" you can tell he was just learning how to properly sing
i hear a Jim Morrison vibe...deep + poetic
I think this was the time when Tony Wilson gave Ian Frank Sinatra records and he actually grew to like Sinatra.
@@maritheresereyes yes and thats why the version of this song that was finally released had more legato and smoother phrases, just like sinatra.
Best version in my opinion so raw talent
Completely raw love this version
God, Ian was absolutely superb on these tracks, Can you imagine what he might have done if he lived?
He did what he was sent here for
no new order lol
someone should have installed a camera in the studio...
i love the 2010 remaster version with all my heart but this is so special i can make room for it.
Joy Division has help me through my life at the most miserable state of my life it's amazing what Ian can do even after death, but his music and the band will live on within our hearts.
The intro is so fucking good. The drums speak for themselves
Best version of the song. I choose this over the single version every time.
Beautiful version... vocals, synth, drums and bass all on point.
My favourite rendition of this song. It's so powerful.
One of thee best songs that has ever graced this little planet of ours, simple genius by ian curtis
The best bass line ever, Awesome.
Ian would have been 60 yrs old today. The voice lives on.
60 shit i didn't know and im 45
This version is how this song should be .so impressive
TOO GOOD. Amazing mixture of pure energy and fragile, beautiful interpretation.
Great live John Peel Session version of the classic tune.
Best version of the song.
+++
Best version in my opinion
Absolutely love how their studio and live sounds were very different. They had an intensely raw, visceral live sound. Steve is a brilliant drummer. Not technically flashy but his fills are just perfect.
One of the best ever drummers in my opinion. Original and inventive and technically perfect.
Ian, you were young and vulnerable. You left us with a limited, deep masterpiece of music. Thank you!
Outstanding music
tfw you have been with someone you loved so much and he loved you back more than anything and you both end up hurt because of this
his unique voice. . the one and only. .

LWTUA Peel Sessions is my fav one. Drums more powerful and an uptempo rousing beat in relation to album version.
Great song for an awesome band.
Perfect start and end.

this is the best version of love will tear us apart
I love this version more than the original tbh (don't hurt me)
Depending on what you believe this is the first version
this is a spectacular version, i agree with you.
This is closer in style to how they played it at gigs , imo
I'm sure Hooky and Bernard would have said the same back then at least. However, I think Martin Hannett's production made Joy Division a band that was deeply influential across all genres in the years that followed rather than a band that was simply better than most other bands of their time :)
i like the two lol, and the pennine version
