Why is no one bringing up that Tim and Kobe stayed elite long enough to win all of their rings without jumping to a contender? 15 years between Tim's 1st and last ring and 10 for Kobe! That's like Lebron winning in 2022.

Jalen Davis Kobe had Shaq... Kobe wanted to leave the lakers at one point. Until the lakers got their act together.
Tim had probably the greatest coach in history, even if Rob won’t consider the spurs a dynasty, it doesn’t matter they were definitely a dynasty. One of the few teams who plays basketball beautifully.

Something that’s never considered is the franchise they played for. In the 53 years the Spurs have been a franchise they have won 5 rings, all led by Duncan. They haven’t even been to the finals without him. Whereas the Lakers have had success with and without Kobe. History has shown that when a superstar goes to the Lakers the franchise will do its part to tailor a team built for rings. The same cannot be said for the Spurs. If Duncan gets drafted by a franchise as successful as the Lakers you can bet he wins multiple rings, but if Kobe gets drafted to an organization like the Spurs can you make that same assumption? How many superstars have played with the Lakers and won a ring? (Hint: all but 1). How many superstars have played with San Antonio and led them to a ring? (Hint: just Duncan)

    • @parkerxjr
      @parkerxjr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Correct. It means more when you win with a non traditional power . LeBron's 1 ring in Cleveland means more than anything else he will do in his career. Jerry West is the GREATEST GM ALL TIME .

@Milestonecomics bruhhh. You can't say that for 1999 and 2003. In 1999 they weren't drafted and in 2003 they are both rookie and 2nd year. Kobe played with shaq, that help argument for duncan is bogus. The reason duncan had the stability is because he let pop coach( you know many superstars really like to rebel on their coach, one word from duncan and pop can be fired at that very moment), duncan made pop as much as pop made duncan, pop said this himself.

Duncan isn’t like Kobe where he had to develop, Robinson himself said after the first practice he gave the keys to Duncan, he didn’t need building.
Pop is 13 games over .500 without Duncan, let’s not act like he has done anything without Tim.

Then his 2nd season he sweeps a 6th year Shaq and a 3rd year Kobe. Wins finals MVP becomes the youngest to win it! Then he breaks up the 3peat Lakers and he’s the Only superstar. E BO naw Shaq was the one who said he was rested cause Kobe was the one putting on all the work. Tim Duncan has never won back to back. Kobe won 3 in a row with shaq -look at the finals matchups when the East has NO CENTERS and shaq is in his prime. Shaq would have been getting finals MVPs if Jordan was on his team. It’s matchups it’s basketball. Kobe missed the most shots of all time passing some other hall of famer. Ha Kobe has 5 titles and after shaq left he did more with less THAN ANYBODY IN NBA HISTORY. 3 title appearances when Pau gasol is your second best player (no dynasty ever existed with a player of pau gasol’s stature as the number two) pau was 0-12 in the playoffs before he became a laker. MWP made a shot that Kobe assisted. This ain’t ray allen or kyrie hitting a shot where Lebron has nothing to do with the play. Kobe was the leading scorer in that game 7 and had 15 boards. Then Kobe walked out of the game with 60 points in his finale. Jordan had like 15. More impressively Kobe shot 60 times in his final game. That’s something that only the best player on the team is allowed to do and he was in year 20. The man Kobe avg 27+ in Kobe’s 17th year in the nba (that’s like a record or something)

That’s arguable. Tim Duncan was phenomenal but he wasn’t better than Karl Malone or Charles Barkley. He was fortunate to have other hall of fame players and coach to actually play with until the end of his career.
Karl was a better offensive player avg well over 20 and 10 each season except his final one when he was injured. Charles was a monster his entire career at 6’4” I think that means something. I would put him number 3 behind those two. I got it he has rings and what not but he is also 7 ft. those final years he played horribly he was a defensive guy but I never seen Karl or Charles get 30 put on them or someone destroy them so defense is a wash. I believe if you put any of those three in the spurs system they would win in my opinion. It’s arguable all three are great but at the end of the day it’s the flavor you want and I would just take Charles because he made others great and he can handle the ball to create his on shot .

TD was great, but Kobe was better. Lots of people mention Tim's consistency, and therein lies one of the reasons I think Kobe was better. He had more weight to carry. Tim enjoyed more consistency because he played in perhaps the most consistent organization ever.
Tim had the luxury of playing for ONE hall of fame coach, alongside several hall of fame players his entire career. Kobe played for an organization that was hot and cold...sometimes played with great players, sometimes played with bums. Had some years with Phil Jackson and had some years with bum coaches.

from the year he entered the league to pretty much the year he retired, you knew the team Tim Duncan was on had a legit chance to win it all. that cannot be said for any team Kobe is on. give me the guy who I know gotta chance to win every year.

Such an unfair question. Both had amazing careers.

Kobe's boyfriends hate when people actually look at his career and compare it to others cuz all of their emotional arguments go out the window

Respectfully disagree that it's unfair. I agree that they both had amazing careers worthy of a salute. I actually think then greats like it when we compare them (with tact), just another form of competition.

Kobe easily. Kobe was a better Player and he's in the Goat conversation. Kobe is 3rd best Player of all time. Kobe is a Legend. His name will be mentioned forever. Kobe 3 peated and then won back to back.

Rarely I mean rarely I agree with Rob but ain’t no question Duncan had a better career and was a more impactful player for his team than Kobe.
