That magic team showed their true colors of immaturity when nick anderson missed those free throws and things for once didn’t go their way. Had they won game 1 in the finals things might’ve been different. Nick stealing the ball from MJ in game 1 of the semis set the stage for the magic to gain the confidence to beat the bulls but blowing that 18 pt lead at home in the finals cost them all their momentum.

I was just watching the Lakers first title w/ Shaq and Kobe (it's cool to check those out since we have no sports) and I just didn't remember (or just didn't know) how talented that Trail Blazers team was. The three you mentioned plus: Arvidas Zybonis, Detlef Schrempf, Bonzi Wells, Damon Stoudemire, Jermaine O'Neil. You could make the argument that was the most talented team in the league, on paper anyway.

I've scrolled through some of the comments and the one team I'm not seeing is the Phoenix Suns team w/ Barkley, KJ, Majerle, Chambers, and crew. I've always thought that of the Jordan Bulls 6 titles, that was his most competitive series that really could have gone either way. Those games were close and both teams were evenly matched. A tip of the ball here or there, and who knows.

The best team that I ever saw that didn't win an NBA Championship were the SACRAMENTO KINGS with Barkley's Phoenix squad coming in second to me. Remember that the Kings had the best record in the West that year at 61-21 and NO DOUBT the NBA cheated the Kings that year in Game 6 because Stern didn't want the series to end in Sacramento. Before Webber injured his knee they were DEFINITELY on their way to win the whole thing and would have dismantled that 3-peat business.....all of L.A. should be thanking Stern still to this day. Broussard and Rob should have spent just a little more time on this one....100%.

Man..... im 100 with you. Utah didnt get robbed, they just lost to the best player of all time. Sacramento got low down jobbed. They got to game 7 and Donaghy ruined things for the Kings. Had they beat the Lakers, they would get the championship against New Jersey. Mike Bibby, national champion at U of A, never gets respect as he should, because of that.

Before he won the title in 1983, Dr J. played on some great Philadelphia 76ers teams. Coached by Billy Cunningham, teammates Maurice Cheeks, Bobby Jones, Darryl Dawkins, George McGinnis, Caldwell Jones and Andrew "The Boston Strangler" Toney, among others.
Erving lost to Portland in the 1977 finals after getting out to a 2 games to zero lead, lost four straight and lost game six by 2 points
Lost to the Lakers in the 1980 finals (they were down 3 games to 2, in game six, Magic Johnson started at center and scored 42 points and the 76ers lost and their home court),
Blew a 3 to 1 series lead against the Celtics in the 1981 Eastern Conference finals (5 of the 7 games were by two points or less and the 76ers lost game 7 in Boston by 1 point)
Lost to the Lakers in the 1982 finals.(Again they blew a 3 games to 1 lead on Boston in the Eastern Conference Finals, ,but won game 7 in Boston.)
The MIlwaukee Bucks had some good teams around that time too.
If you want to talk about one year, people pick Golden State, but that Magic Johnson Laker team that lost to Boston in seven games.
James Worthy and that bad pass that led to them losing the game. Kevin McHale with the Kurt Rambis clothesline that turned the series around.

James Harden, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Chandler Parsons, Eric Gordon, Trevor Ariza, Clint Capela, Ryan Anderson, Patrick Beverley, Jason Terry, Lou Williams, Montrezl Harrell, Nene, Gerald Green, Carmelo Anthony, Kenneth Faried, P.J Tucker...

How 'bout the 04-05 Pistons? Not as "talented" as some of the other teams, but defending champs that obliterated the Lakers the previous year, then in '05 had to win a game 7 IN MIAMI against the team with the best record then lost in 7 to an EXCELLENT Spurs team and had a lead in the 2nd half of that game. Not the best ever not to win, but one I say just deserving of being mentioned here
