That was a mistake - Duncan is not top 10. Duncan is an excellent player, but he also had an extremely lucky career. From day one he was drafted to a team that already had one of the greartest big men of all time (David Robinson). People will argue Robison was on the decline which is true, but it doesn't matter because the two greatest gains Duncan got from DR's presence were: 1. The opportunity to learn from one of the greatrest big men to ever play the game 2. The opportunity to slide down to the PF spot (since Robinson played center) where his 7'0" / 7'5" wingspan gave him a huge advantage against most matchups Then throw in the fact that he also got coached from a young age by Greg Popovich, one of the greatest NBA coaches of all time, and that is yet another massive advantage that just fell in to his lap. Don't get me wrong Duncan was a great player without a doubt, but he also had greatness/success handed to him on a silver platter moreso then maybe any other great player that gets talked about in these discussions. I mean honestly - how many top 3 picks are lucky enough to be drafted to a team where (pretty much from day one) they have a hall of fame coach AND hall of fame player (at their position, no less) available to mentor them from day one? Then on top of that you have to factor in that he had incredibly deep and talented rosters every single year once they started winning - lets be honest, it's not like he really ever had to "tough it out" or face much in the way of adversity. If you want to just a player judge them not on how many championships their TEAM won, but based on their individual talent, ability, and contribution to the league. Duncan was really good. He was exceptional. But he does not deserve to be mentioned in the same paragraph as guys like Jordan, Magic, BIrd, Kareem, Hakeem (who was shamefully missing from these lists), Kobe and Leborn. Duncan is at least one (if not two) full tiers below those guys.
for more than half of his championships and for more than half his finals appearances, he was not the best player on his team. he was the best player in the world for a very short time. between 2007 and 2009 more or less, and he was never the defacto best in the world. you always could've made a case he wasn't. he hurt his teams sometimes when he wasn't passing and ball hogging. he ruined the pistons series for them and drove shaq out of LA, who then proceeded to win a championship again, with his next team. kobe never had to play on his own. he had good teams for every year in which he was still good enough. jordan, lebron, shaq, etc have had multiple seasons with no one on their team. lebron went to two finals with no one. he was 22 in one of them. i have him 11th, because I can't put him higher than guys like jordan/magic/lebron/kareem/wilt /russel / duncan or ahead of dominating forces like shaq/hakeem. and i think larry bird ranks higher, but you can maybe argue that.
@@anonymous-pb7dy Kobe was college young when he had the 3peat and the only chip he was the supporting cast was his 1st one at 20 years old. Not to mention shaq fouled out and kobe hit a clutch shot in a pivotal game 4 against the pacers. Of course you burn yourself out though by comparing him to lebron lol. And thats the thing. I dont need to put another player down to make another one look better because kobes individual accomplishments speak for themselves. And he was only the best from 07-09? Did you not see the 81 pt game or the 4 50 pt games in a row? Did you not see who he was playing with before he got gasol? I can go on but the fact that you put hakeem over him just is just silly

After that lebron has been without question the best. Im not putting kobe down. Im a lakers fan since the early 2000s. You don't have to be disrespectful if you say he's not as good as another player. I appreciate him. I just think he's overhyped. He's not top 5-esque at all.
Donald Pace I'm with you.. Kobe isn't top five. Only two finals MVPs one regular season MVP, 20 years...alot of shots alot more misses...alot of playoff early exits...in fact Kobe has just as much playoff losses as lebron been in the finals

It happens when super famous people pass early. Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain...... all deified after they died. Their deaths were as spectacular and shocking as their careers. Adding to the mystique. the younger you are the more significant it is to you also. Kobe is a textbook example. If he deserves it or not is subjective. Kareem - The best player for a long time with the most devastating move ever, and 6 rings/6 MVP’s don’t hurt. 4. Magic - Best PG of all time (I believe the gap between Magic and the other point guards is larger than the gap between MJ and Kobe). Best passer, most creative floor general ever & he revolutionized being a big PG. 5. Kobe - Diet MJ, a slightly less talented/accomplished carbon copy of the GOAT. 6. Duncan - Never missed the playoffs, greatest PF ever and the most underrated superstar in any sport of all time. 7. Shaq - The most dominant 3 year stretch ever during LA’s 3-peat, the most dominant player in his prime and his outstanding D was overlooked due to his legendary offensive arsenal. 8. Bird - Leader of one of the greatest teams ever (‘85-‘86), Lebron before Lebron, top 5 competitor ever. 9. Wilt - Look up the NBA record book like Broussard said. 10. Russell - 11 rings, dominant defense/rebounding, a leader of the integration the NBA moved towards. Some say he should be far higher and I don’t want to take anything away from him BUT those rings came with a handful of HOF’ers and only 8 teams in the league.

The disrespect of Kobe has to stop people use to say he’s not black enough because he wasn’t like Allen iverson with the cornrows and grew up part of his life in Italy they also didn’t like because of the Michael Jordan comparison they didn’t like him because of they said he ran shaq out of town they also said he would never win without shaq now they say lebron is better because of regular season stats they say Kobe had shaq but lebron had nobody but superstars on his team to help him win you young bucks don’t know this but Kobe had everybody chatting mvp in every arena in the league nobody has ever done that before
Kobe came from Europe, of course he ain't Black enough. If Kobe came from the hoods in U.S., you'd have Kobe get made respect from Blacks, but the truth is he's from Euro ball. He'll never get the cred he deserves because of this fact that Blacks view him that way. Sorry, truth hurts.
He also holds the record for most field goals missed in the history of the game, and is behind LeBron in every statistical category in both regular season and playoffs, but whatever floats your boat.
Misanthropy so did Jordan when he retired also Lebron takes mostly lay ups don't ever bring up fg% plus kobe spent three yrs on the bench three yrs with bums and 3 yrs injury ridden
Skip asking if Wilt even thought about defense ruined his whole argument. Many people think Wilt could have averaged 10 blocks a game had they kept the stat back then.

Sixx God6 it really isn't at all. In my opinion it isn't even a subject of discussion. Shaq was clearly the more dominant force and was the better player in LA and comparatively in their primes he was better. Not to mention he also made kobe so much better those three years helping him jumpstart his career
Sixx God6 I said comparitively in their primes. Shaq was the more dominant force he averaged over 30 PER several times something Kobe never did and they were about on par for Win shares as well and Shaq maintained a lower usage % than kobe
When talking about LeBron, Skip gives so much emphasis on the number of championships. And still ranked Bill Russell below Jordan, Magic and Kareem who all won less championships.
Yes! I have been saying this for years. None of these, so called journalists, TV and media "experts" ever establish a set of criteria. It's all based on popularity, MONEY (who sponsors them and their employer) and what LITTLE they actually know about NBA history. Many players from the past get disrespected.
Let's establish the criteria: Here's my top ten list: Team success in the playoffs Individual Statistics- Peak Value Individual Statistics- Career Value Awards and Honors Leading the League and/or Setting records Team success in the regular season Unselfishness/sacrificing of Individual statistics and honors Actual Skills/Fundamentals Athleticism (Speed, Strength etc.) Intangibles (Leadership, Toughness etc.) Like you said, it depends on what you value the most. This list could have a different order by everyone who reads it. This list could be completely different from someone else's list as well. But if these shows actually evaluated players from a list like this, THEN they would have to be fair and objective. Perhaps, then, we could make a list that would be widely accepted. It would take a lot of research and then a lot of air time to discuss it. The results would probably have few surprises. The MONEY driven shows, on ESPN and Fox Sports, will never do anything like this.
the funny thing is they not only direspecting kobe they disrespect everybody just to give lebron a case saying he better than bird and magic these morons dont know a damn thing
@Xantoven oh yeah he way better thte only reason he aint got six titles cause mike and larry took them from him, who lebron get his titles taken from ? how many he actually got?
Bruh re watching this, when shannon said Kareem number 1 and they all looked at him like he's nuts. But I'm sorry Kareem has a very very very strong argument to be the GOAT. Let's not disrespect Kareem
I think Skip’s problem is he thinks one person is all that determines championship. Championship takes a team to win, not individual player. He keeps ranking players largely determined by finals records, he might as well just put Robert horry in. Every time he debate against lebron, the only thing he could argue was his finals record. This is basketball not tennis or golf.
Yeah, Bill shot 44% as a big man as his average, Kobe shot a higher percentage than that and his chucking up shots from outside in the face of 3 defenders. Wilt is a better player than Bill ever was too lol The one that needs to get out of that top 10 is Bill.
Respect the fact Shannon has Kareem #1 all time he gets no love. 6x champion, 2x Finals MVP, 6x MVPs, All time leading scorer, 3rd all time rebounder, 3rd all time blocks. If ppl want to talk about stats then there you go.
Crazy how it's known that amongst the NBA fraternity, Kobe ranks higher than Lebron but the media refuses to give Kobe the nod over Lebron. Instead of listening to the experts that have actually gone to battle against Kobe and Bron, the media makes their own narrative and most ppl just run with it. Kobe Bryant is the most complete player I've ever seen. Lebron is nowhere near the most complete player ever lol he's literally had so many holes in his game until recently like the past 2 to 3 yrs. Kobe can pass just as well if not better than Lebron but Kobe doesn't have to cuz he has the biggest bag of tricks we've ever seen as a scorer and he can do it all with both hands, on ball or off ball, back to the basket or face up, and just a threat from ANYWHERE on the court. Kobe's basketball IQ was insane so he can pass but there's really no need to pass as much when you can score as easily as he could.
Lmao, Kobe isn’t close to being a complete player. He isn’t close to the passer, he wasn’t a better scorer (worse efficiency, more shot attempts, less points per game and all time), defense they can split but LBJ guarded 1-4, Kobe guarded small players, LBJ has the far higher IQ, better athleticism.... Kobe just hit more difficult shots
@@hardwoodthought1213 I figured someone would throw stats at me since it's the easy thing to do but sorry bud you cannot sit here and pretend Lebron is a complete player when he's had no post game or jumper for the majority of his career. 2 big flaws that have hindered him and caused him to underachieve his whole career. He should have at least 6 or 7 rings, just like Giannis and Westbrook should also have at least 1 ring but being a poor shooter is a huge deficiency and limits your entire offense. Even when Kobe had an off night he still kept the defense honest because you had to respect that his game had no limits. I'm not saying Lebron is a scrub but he doesn't have a bigger arsenal than Kobe
@@davidriley6843 He does have a post game, I feel like you didn’t watch him from 2012-17 but he had a great post game. It wasn’t as skilled as Kobe, but it was just as effective. No jumper yet he shot a better % from 3 than Kobe? Kobe was 100% more skilled than LBJ, he was more skilled than MJ, but it doesn’t make him a better player. Kyrie has a bigger scoring arsenal than LBJ, but is Kyrie a better scorer? No, same with Kobe. LBJ may only do a few things well scoring wise, but he is still a better scorer than Kobe. Kobe fans instantly say stats don’t matter, like yes they do. So do other things, but every stat shows LBJ was a better, more efficient scorer than Kobe, without even factoring in running an offence and his passing

Honestly your all debating this but hate it or love it, everyone they are talking about is retired while LeBron probably still has a good five years left in him. Maybe even more if he takes lesser minutes. He may be out of his prime but still the best in the league and I think he will keep this up the next three years.
2Pac Remix That was the same case with Kobe back in 2010.Especially when he was playing out of his mind against the Suns in the WCF going through to chase his 5th ring..Many people were making cases to put him over MJ just like with Lebron today. Most guys were just kids back then or dont remember this because generally people tend to forget but this is totally true.
You can kinda argue he still in his prime he putting up Amazing numbers still he will be top 5 in scoring maybe 3,2 and top 10 in assist you can't say he's not a top 3 guy his longevity and his numbers in his latter years is what impresses me the most its like LeBron still playing in Miami except he looks older lol
Chandler Smith No doubt. Just feel like Hakeem’s athleticism set the barometer for the Center. Also need to watch more footage as always lol. Prime Shaq probably higher.
Overrated, either Vince Carter or T-Mac replace Kobe, they would get those 3 rings as well. Put Kobe on Raptors lineup or Knicks, he will be nobody today. It's all about who you play with!!! When Master Zen and Shaq left, Kobe's team were pathetic at best. Ultimately, return of Zen Master + All-Star Pau Gasol to save his a$$ legacy.
If people understood the word "team" in team sports Jordan would not be rated so highly. He barely improved his team his rookie/early years unlike someone like Bird(Improved the Celtics by over 30 plus more wins his first season).Without Jordan the Bulls were still a major force and in the playoff picture, he was the icing on the cake for a very good bulls team in the 90's.
Kobe is the most underrated player in history of sports. He was robbed multiple MVP's. Excellent defender, won 5 out of 7 championship and the killer instinct.

@@BoscoTungWaldo Yeah but there is a huge difference between dominating a player in a 1-on-1 match up and a TEAM dominating another TEAM. Wilt had the better of Russell in their personal matchup, the Celtics had the better of the Lakers/Warriors/76ers. Wilt averaged about 28PPG (both regular season & playoffs) against Russell on a combined 50% shooting from the field over the course of 142 games between them. Regular season & Playoffs combined, Russell only kept Wilt under 20 points in 32 games (that's about 22% of the games played between them), under 15 in 17 games and under 10 in 5 while Russell only ever outscored Wilt 11 times, Wilt also averaged a touch over 4 more rebounds per game than Russell in their matchups. So yes, Russell does have a 60% win rate against Wilt but that's not down to Russell dominating Wilt or even being able to shut him down on a regular basis.

Russell will never distraught your team's offensive rhythm, while Wilt would take plays off defensively juat to save up energy for offense. Although a friend of mine once said, that Wilt is an honest worker, abd always did what coaches want him to do. I’m glad Shannon included Tim Duncan in his top 10. He was such a great player
Guthred 11 Tim Duncan is Trash
That was a mistake - Duncan is not top 10.
Duncan is an excellent player, but he also had an extremely lucky career. From day one he was drafted to a team that already had one of the greartest big men of all time (David Robinson). People will argue Robison was on the decline which is true, but it doesn't matter because the two greatest gains Duncan got from DR's presence were:
1. The opportunity to learn from one of the greatrest big men to ever play the game
2. The opportunity to slide down to the PF spot (since Robinson played center) where his 7'0" / 7'5" wingspan gave him a huge advantage against most matchups
Then throw in the fact that he also got coached from a young age by Greg Popovich, one of the greatest NBA coaches of all time, and that is yet another massive advantage that just fell in to his lap.
Pete you cannot contribute all that to “luck” lmao. It takes more than luck to win more than 3 championships😂😂
Stats don’t lie. + Robinson was only there for a short amount of time after Tim entered the league
Pete deep rosters are what make the spurs the spurs. Even now that’s the case haha

The fact that they are entertaining the idea of kobe not being in the top 10 is disrespectful
bro i thought ur picture was a hair on my screen
for more than half of his championships and for more than half his finals appearances, he was not the best player on his team. he was the best player in the world for a very short time. between 2007 and 2009 more or less, and he was never the defacto best in the world. you always could've made a case he wasn't. he hurt his teams sometimes when he wasn't passing and ball hogging. he ruined the pistons series for them and drove shaq out of LA, who then proceeded to win a championship again, with his next team. kobe never had to play on his own. he had good teams for every year in which he was still good enough. jordan, lebron, shaq, etc have had multiple seasons with no one on their team. lebron went to two finals with no one. he was 22 in one of them. i have him 11th, because I can't put him higher than guys like jordan/magic/lebron/kareem/wilt /russel / duncan or ahead of dominating forces like shaq/hakeem. and i think larry bird ranks higher, but you can maybe argue that.
Misanthropy so did Jordan when he retired also Lebron takes mostly lay ups don't ever bring up fg% plus kobe spent three yrs on the bench three yrs with bums and 3 yrs injury ridden
Jermaine McClain the garden has never chanted mvp to Jordan he killed them to much
Skip asking if Wilt even thought about defense ruined his whole argument. Many people think Wilt could have averaged 10 blocks a game had they kept the stat back then.

Asmosis Jones blasphemous to have Shaq ahead of Kobe
Sixx God6 it really isn't at all. In my opinion it isn't even a subject of discussion. Shaq was clearly the more dominant force and was the better player in LA and comparatively in their primes he was better. Not to mention he also made kobe so much better those three years helping him jumpstart his career
Luke Pelton you also forgot Shaq was in his prime and Kobe was basically still a young pup at the time.
Sixx God6 I said comparitively in their primes. Shaq was the more dominant force he averaged over 30 PER several times something Kobe never did and they were about on par for Win shares as well and Shaq maintained a lower usage % than kobe

Wilt was a better player than Bill ever was.@@shuutsukiyama1553
There is a case for GOAT of all of those in the top 10 list. It all depends on what you value the most.
Juanfra Valero EXACTLY thank you for saying that
Juanfra Valero this is possibly the best comment on this debate ever made
Exactly right. And most of these all time lists are made with biases for certain players or eras anyway.
Yes! I have been saying this for years. None of these, so called journalists, TV and media "experts" ever establish a set of criteria. It's all based on popularity, MONEY (who sponsors them and their employer) and what LITTLE they actually know about NBA history. Many players from the past get disrespected.
Let's establish the criteria:
Here's my top ten list:
Team success in the playoffs
Individual Statistics- Peak Value
Individual Statistics- Career Value
Awards and Honors
Leading the League and/or Setting records
Team success in the regular season
Unselfishness/sacrificing of Individual statistics and honors
Actual Skills/Fundamentals
Athleticism (Speed, Strength etc.)
Intangibles (Leadership, Toughness etc.)
Like you said, it depends on what you value the most.
This is so disrespectful everytime I watch it
the funny thing is they not only direspecting kobe they disrespect everybody just to give lebron a case saying he better than bird and magic these morons dont know a damn thing

LedZep's X If Jordan is 1A GOAT.. Kareem Abdul Jabbar is 1B GOAT
Kareem won 6 chips and Magic was the leader for 5 of them. But please, tell me more about how Kareem is the goat you clown.....
But the team focused around Jordan. Not disrespecting the other players but it centers around Jordan. But it takes a team to win championships.
Yeah, Bill shot 44% as a big man as his average, Kobe shot a higher percentage than that and his chucking up shots from outside in the face of 3 defenders. Wilt is a better player than Bill ever was too lol The one that needs to get out of that top 10 is Bill.
Agreed. But also, the way Skip argues is as if he’s trying his best to get people to hate his guts.

Big Serg that's about it bro. This new generation need to put some respeck on it!
I have him and 2nd all time, mainly because hes just not as skilled as Jordan.
@@davidriley6843 lebron doesn’t have a jumper but how do you drop 40 point games without a jumper? Did y’all watch young lebron at all or do you get your info from skip smh
@@theendisnigh4497 I watched. He could hit rhythm jumpers but nobody feared his shooting ability. Lebron is one of the freakiest athletes the sports has ever seen so getting buckets shouldn’t be a problem for him but he never really had a scoring package. He was always a good finisher and yes he has a knack for hitting rhythm jumpers and occasionally getting hot
Chris Broussard every time on this show exposes skip for the hypocrite he is when discussing lebron
Honestly your all debating this but hate it or love it, everyone they are talking about is retired while LeBron probably still has a good five years left in him. Maybe even more if he takes lesser minutes. He may be out of his prime but still the best in the league and I think he will keep this up the next three years.
Playing better than he ever has but he's out of his prime... lol
2Pac Remix That was the same case with Kobe back in 2010.Especially when he was playing out of his mind against the Suns in the WCF going through to chase his 5th ring..Many people were making cases to put him over MJ just like with Lebron today.

love your Pac remixes by the way

@@mattnorris7124 Wilt Chamberlain= Best Individual Player. Bill Russell The Player who makes his team the best, in an interview, Wilt will take Russell over himself as the greatest center, cause he explained that Russell was complete, and he did more to help his team win than himself, and that sometimes more is less, as he said himself that Wilt on the Celtics might be different as he also wants to score, and that might take away the shots from Bob Cousy, Sam Jones, Tom Heinsohn. Russell will never distraught your team's offensive rhythm, while Wilt would take plays off defensively juat to save up energy for offense. Although a friend of mine once said, that Wilt is an honest worker, abd always did what coaches want him to do. Early phase of his career: Score like no man has ever before, Hannum wanted him to facilitate more, imo best Wilt, and he did, while Sharman wanted him to play like Russell, and he also did well Additionally, not everytime in his career, he played to him, and even bragged to Jerry West one time about him breaking his season high in points, while he is still losing.
