We made something similar to this many years ago with oyster crackers. We also put them in an oven and baked the ingredients into the crackers which made them even better. Yes, they were really good!

Man oh man! I was skeptical at first but I gave it a try and ate the whole first batch by myself.🤭 The next batch I used half ranch and half Italian. Oh so very good! I used Avocado oil and still great. Thank you!☺

I agree... these are the best crackers in the world. try this dip to go along with them. We call it "crack dip". It can be doubled, tripled, etc. Serve hot or cold. Let me know how you like it!
    Ingredients:
1 pound breakfast sausage, such as Jimmy Dean (hot or mild)
1 (10-oz) can Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies, undrained
1 (8-oz) package cream cheese, cut into pieces
    Instructions:
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook sausage until crumbled and no longer pink. Drain. Add Rotel and cream cheese to skillet. Stir until cheese melts.
Serve warm with tortilla chips or even better, serve with Fire Crackers!!

I saved a big plastic utz cheese ball container just to make these in. The extra space makes it easier to tumble them without clusters staying together.

1 if you will use a 2 gallon ziplock you can get the oil and spices more evenly and if you make them with the Mini Premium Saltines, use the same amount of everything except use 2 full boxes of the mini crackers. Great as an appetizer!

@@lindafox1454Hi. I don't think anyone answered, and I just saw your comment/question. I've made some different cracker recipes that call for coating in one spice mixture or another, and from my own experience, I would say remove from bag and place in another type of airtight container. Unless you're using seriously heavy-duty freezer type zipper bags, they're pretty porous and may allow the crackers to go stale in a shorter time.

What an interesting Dish! 😊 I wonder how they would be with the spices mixed in the oil mixture and the oil spice mixture brushed on the crackers and baked. I love the idea of this. I bet they would be wonderful with a little Parmesan added and a splash of vinegar. I will have fun experimenting with this one. For some reason parsley sound good on it as well. And of course I'll try your all's version first. This one looks fun!

These sound delicious... and addicting! I agree with the people advocating a 2 gallon bag. But also, to make mixing the spices and oil easier, why not add them directly to the oil in the measuring cup and then pouring that over the crackers in the bag? Better distribution and no spices hiding in the corners of the bag.

I'm going to have to stop keeping saltines in the house or I'll continue making these, and I don't need the calories. I took bags of them to my family to try at Christmas and they loved them too. I decreased the oil just a bit to 1-1/2 cups and, because I like spicy foods, increased all the other ingredients to my liking. OMG!!! I don't have to have them with anything. They're so good all by themselves.

Well, I couldn't sleep so I watched this video. First thing I know I'm in the kitchen making it. Used one sleeve of crackers and cut the recipe down to 1/4. Did not have any ranch dressing mix, so I used four Zap Packs from Little Caesars pizza. Did not have pepper flakes so I used powdered cayenne pepper. Also threw in some powdered cheddar cheese and some hot sauce. Shook it all together in a Folgers coffee container.
Ate them while I watched Lost in Space until I was stuffed.
    Tasty!

Ok these were great as is, but I decided to put some on a cookie rack and baked at 375 for 4 minutes and they were even better! A hit with everyone who's tried them and, as you said a great snack at the end of the work day! Also great with the homemade beer cheese my neighbor makes!

@kidrobot. They actually aren't at all and have basically the same crisp but I also think you could use less oil and that a final bake could enhance things as well

I have a tip for your bag, if you just turn the top of the bag down to the outside all the way around and the bag will stand up better.
Thank you I enjoy your table! 😊

I have made these for about 5 years now. My recipe had you lay them out on a cookie sheet and bake them. I use a 2 gallon bag but might try the one gallon bag. My neighbor request these every year for their chili party.

❤️ this. My very first summer job was at the Little Debbie bakery in Collegedale, Tennessee! I loved that place. I made Chocolate Swiss Rolls. Unfortunately, there were no Christmas Tree cakes then! 😢 They do have an outlet store at the bakery, and sell cookbooks. This recipe needs to be put in if they have a volume 2! 🎄🎂

Merry Christmas Tom and Melissa... I just made these this morning for the the first time. My husband, who is truly is the cook in the family (although I do the baking/desserts etc), was watching me as he was preparing breakfast. At one point he stops and then says, "what are you doing??? those crackers are going to be mush!)...I said, "trust me" (as i was internally hearing you say, trust me). My husband then walks away...he then can't help himself and comes back a short time later..and the conversation is repeated. Later I asked him if he would like to take the first bite. He hesitated and I then said, "do they look soggy?". He then said, "no" 😒.. He took a bite and said, "what are these..they are great!" I ate one even though I am not a hot/spicy gal. I find them addicting. Our 4 kids are coming home today for Christmas...I know they will be a hit. THANK YOU!!!! Oh, and yesterday, I made your biscuits and sausage gravy or the first time, at age 59. I had never made it. Absolutely delicious!! THANK YOU!!

I do something similar with pretzels.
I mix all the spices and oil together in a large measuring cup and mix with a small wisk.
I put the pretzels, or crackers in a large mixing bowl and start pouring the oil mixture over them, stirring them carefully with a spatula to make sure all are coated evenly. Once they are covered, I put them in another container with a lid or large ziplok bag(s).

I didn’t anticipate them tasting so good. Hubby and I can’t resist them. Thanks for the recipe. Greetings from Canada!
