I found something similar in an old cookbook from the 1940's / 1950's (?) But I modified it because I cannot eat "pod" peppers like cayenne or Jalapeno. Into a gallon size ziploc baggie, dump 2 bags (9 oz each) of oyster crackers .. 3/4 cup powdered Ranch Dressing and a heaping teaspoon of just regular black pepper... close baggie and roll/shake until crackers are covered with the dry mixture... now pour 3/4 cup vegetable oil into the baggie and again roll/shake until everything is coated. This will likely take least ten minutes of mixing to completely coat the crackers.. I nicknamed them "Beer Poppers" cause they are great with a cold beer. My friends, family and customers love them.

I don’t understand why they don’t turn to mush while marinating?
