    Thanks for the three way comparison! I like the last update, where you can get the car to take an alternate route based on the amount of time that would be saved.

    I love Tesla thousands of dogs and babies have died after being left In hot cars and Tesla was the first to take initiative and add cabin overheat protection so when the temps rise past a certain degree the ac kicks on when the car is parked very smart people

      Can it be turned off if it is unnessisary? From the car or app?

    • @alamedacountysheriffsoffic8463
      @alamedacountysheriffsoffic8463 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Andrew .Trites yes u can turn it off but by default it’s activated so kids and dogs don’t die a miserable death

      @jonathanluu4498 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually it won’t activate if it doesn’t detect motion or people in the car.

    Thing about waze is that it shows where the cops are hiding no other app/system does that.

    Great video. From my experience, google maps seems to be superior and its traffic information has always been remarkably spot on. I thought Waze is owned by google I could be wrong though.

      Yes waze is a google subsidiary bought for 1B. Most of the Google traffic info is from waze. Its of note that google now collects its own info from drivers using its navigation app. Uber does it as well from its drivers. Its honestly a cool feature that you dont need a satellite to get that info but individual drivers using the app. Thats why its actually really accurate with waze being some what light years above everybody.

      david makanga the Google maps app on my phone will offer alternate routes (even while I’m already following its originally chosen route) if it thinks there’s a faster route. Does the Tesla’s NAV do that?

  • @misterlhaynes3836
    @misterlhaynes3836 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good video, they’re the same company, Google bought Waze about 5 years back, more than likely sourcing traffic info from the same source but split up features between the apps, since the purchase Google Maps has many more features that were initially only in Waze

    Nice video! I would be very interested to see a side-by-side view of Waze and Tesla nav (and maybe Google Maps). I am pretty sure that all three use the same underlying data (Google owns Waze). Last year, pre Model 3, I moved from Google Maps to Waze and found that it was better in most respects, in particular with alternate routes, and sometimes on-the-fly updates. The Waze visual interface is really nice -- simplified to focus on the immediate details. I also prefer the timing when on city streets -- Waze seems to give you a bigger head start with voice nav directions. Not sure of any of this, but just to say that while I really like the Tesla nav, the features of Waze are pretty great as well, especially for people like myself who need reading glasses to see little details.

    I'm worried about this, it doesn't look close enough. I can barely see it and wouldn't be able to see my turns. will it let you zoom in a lot closer?

    • @TeslaLife
      @TeslaLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes you can pinch/push the screen to zoom in/out.

    • @100rrh
      @100rrh 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      good and will it stay closer or default back? also I like the look of the maps as if you're driving like on the iPhone, not this overhead stuff

    I notice all the cars disappear from your car's display as they enter your blind spot, is that normal?

  • @itsjonathanbitch
    @itsjonathanbitch 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Is there a way to see the Tesla navigation more zoomed in? It’s quite hard to read when in the city compared to waze, google or apple maps.

    • @TeslaLife
      @TeslaLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can zoom in on the maps, is that what you mean?

    • @kareemhawari3096
      @kareemhawari3096 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly my question it’s annoying to do navigation while seeing every city in 10mile radius. Is there a way to make it like google where it has your car in perspective to the next direction.

  • @cnaumann35801
    @cnaumann35801 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So... why did you make a wrong turn? Isn’t giving you correct and obvious turn information the primary job of the navigation app?

  • @im415again
    @im415again 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Just use Waze in the browser while you drive.

    • @TeslaLife

      I tried that, but it doesn't keep the location active, had to keep pressing the find location DOT icon.

    I have been a firm supporter of TomTom navigation for many years so when I bought a Tesla I was very interested in seeing how the traffic data compared. I continue to hope that Tesla will both improve its own traffic data collection AND allow TomTom to be used as an alternative 'on screen' navigator (doubtful I know). Looking very closely at the Tesla traffic info today I could see immediately that the graphics on screen bore no resemblance to the real situation whereas TomTom as always did. A lot more work needed by Tesla or maybe just hand over control to the experts?

    Did you ever find out where Tesla’s NAV gets its traffic data from - Still google?

    • @TeslaLife
      @TeslaLife  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does suggest alternative routes and you can enter the time saving for it to engage. Doesn't seem to prompt you, just does it. Not sure, but it appears to get it from Google.

      Buy the more expensive version. The new $35,000 version only has FM/AM/BT. The upgraded “partial premium” has the “internet radio” as an option.

    No more unlimited free supercharging with referral code use. Tesla ended that program (at least for now; Elon did say it wasn't going to come back, but you never really know with Tesla).

    No realtime speed camera warnings, no 3D view, so I use Tomtom in my T3, they are more innovative than Tesla regarding navigation.
