Thanks for keeping it real, I've seen Tesla's driving so slow on the highway trying to conserve range. These fanboys on here acting like a 2-3 year old car is ancient. I'm sorry but you shouldn't be having all these issues on a car that new. I had a Model Y loaner for 2 days and the estimated range on the screen was inaccurate. I found a EV Go charger That saved me because otherwise I'd have to have it towed. I'm not buying one till the range gets over 400-500, otherwise it doesn't make sense.

Yes is true it also take 24 hours to charge with 110 is like 2 miles per hour u have to pay for fast charge and the range is inaccurate also on the y model too if u drive 60 and above it will drain u battery so fast and to top it of be careful with parts u order if u get the wrong one they won’t exchange it or return u have to buy it again maybe in 6 more years it be better

I agree with you. I wish I saw this review before buying my 2022 Tesla 3. It picked it up new on 2-22-22. I received a text to pick up my new car at 4pm. I arrive at the customer center on time and I was notified it’s not ready for “quality control “ inspection. While we wait, I ask if we can test drive a model 3. We took it out and I fell in love with the car. Quiet, sporty, fun, responsive…cool! I get a text saying my car is ready for pick up. I have my checklist in hand and my brother in law in tow to inspect the car. Immediately, I can see the driver side window is not flush to the side of the car. I can actually see the inside of the car from the outside. I can pass my check sheet thru the gap. I see scratches and chips in the paint (it’s a new car off the assembly line). All this an not one Tesla employee to be found. I have to push the “accept” button on the app to get into the car to get the key. Well that was a big mistake. I go back to the office and inform them this car has so many flaws. He said since I pushed “accept” I would have to take it in to get scheduled for maintenance. I haven’t had even driven the car off the lot. He also said if you refuse this car it will take two months to get a replacement. If you don’t like the second one, we will cancel your order. I take the car and decide it will be faster for them to fix it than wait for a second one ( the second one could be worse than the first one). Fast forward to March 14, 2022. I take it to the service center center to have the window fixed and a whistling sound on the passenger side and the paint and fit and finish issues with the car. The two hour fix became four hours then overnight. They did offer a Uber voucher(non explanation how to use it) and a loaner car only offered when they had to close the shop for the night. And the loaner car was filthy. The next day the repairs were completed except the paint issues, that’s another appointment. To add insult to injury the technician that fixed my car wore greasy pants and got it on my new white seats. And get this……I get home open my trunk to find trash from all the packaging of the replacement parts and a tool left in my car. How unprofessional. I’m not impressed with the customer service, fit and finish and quality of the car. If anyone is thinking about buying a Tesla, don’t. It’s not worth the hassle and frustration. Take your money elsewhere. Tesla doesn’t care, they just want your time and money.

I'm in Canada and I have seen a few people talk about being stranded on a highway in the middle of a blizzard because there is no charging stations and no way to charge it. One couple was talking about having to leave a generator in their trunk because of it. A diesel generator in your trunk so you can charge your freaking car.. Seems like the entire point of buying an electric vehicle just blew out the trunk to me.

Mr Smith , still the same. I own a Window Tint Shop in Abilene Tx. A lil while back I gotta call from a guy needing a Plaid tinted. He was calling from Dallas Tx and was coming home to Abilene. I scheduled him in for 1 that day and he showed up right in time. As he walked in I seen he had a Tesla employee ID hanging from his neck and an computer with Tesla logo on it. I said I work for Tesla and he responded yes and commenced to telling me what he did for Tesla. I will add what he does in Abilene is highly confidential but with a lil prodding he told me everything. Real nice guy so I let him come into the workshop area and watch me tint his car . As I worked he asked is that a customers C8 out front. I said no that’s mine. He said that car is twice the car this Tesla is. I said what do u mean this Plaid will eat my Vette. He said yeah but the perfection on ur lines is something Tesla doesn’t have YET. And he proceeded to bust out a micrometer. Pricing exactly what he was talking about. N yes after looking closely I seen the miss lined panels. And as for road noise it was a pretty loud experience. The ride in the suspension felt golfcarty. But the thing did SCREAM in speed. Other than that I’ll stick to my Corvette. Maybe in the future but as for now . Nope no way I’m buying one.

You could slide your tesla key card behind your phone in the phone case to take care of that pairing glitch. You'll always have it there just in case. And as far as range goes, just always plug it in before leaving for a trip. My MPG goes from 35 to 25 in the colder months in my gas powered car, so before long trips I fill up, because there aren't always gas stations in the rural areas I pass through. You just have to plan ahead regardless. The new heat pump increased cold weather efficiency by 3x so there's that too.

I just bought a Tesla 3P and had no body panel issues, or body defects. The one minor issue that I have had is a delay in the car opening with the phone. If safety is a factor, I would keep the app open while you approach your car. In a panic rush to the car, you don’t want to have it not open timely. EVs, all brands, require a change in lifestyle as far as maximizing range. I can haul ass at every stoplight, and drive like a maniac (to some it’s normal), but I know that I will have to charge sooner. If you drive the same way in an ICE car, the car will consume more petrol too … Buy what suits your lifestyle.

I’ve been driving Tesla’s since 2014 in Michigan. I’ve driven them all over the country. It gets pretty cold here in Michigan, too. When I’m not driving the car, it’s ALWAYS plugged in. Not a big deal. I learned early on that if it’s below freezing, subtract 20% for range loss. If it’s below 10 degrees F, subtract 30%. If it’s that cold AND you’re driving against the wind and snow, subtract 50%. I’ve never gotten stranded. I had a few close calls early on, but as time has gone by, there are now 10 times as many Supercharger locations now, so range anxiety is pretty much a non-issue. I’ve driven my 2016 Model S from Michigan to central Florida and vice versa with no problems. I’ve done it in as little as 22 hours in the winter. I guess you just have to be a little more aware and remember to plug the car in when not using it. Also, since my Tesla is a 2016 model, I still get free, unlimited Supercharging. So, I can do road trips basically for free.

Good to warn people about it.

Thanks for the honest video - Because that's exactly the stuff I also worry about and fight with buying a Tesla. We have a Car Sharing System with Tesla 3 in my town, so I regularly use them and even though I don't OWN them but just use them, I struggle with the exact same Issues. ESPECIALLY the range thing. When driving to a location, you shouldn't have to worry about how far away the next charger is and compare it with the range the car has left minus the range you lose from leaving it for x hours in the lot. That's just not worth 70.000 dollars.
Sure, you can ALWAYS argue that you can't leave an empty gasoline car in a parking lot either, but 1. the gasoline car doesn't run out of fuel by waiting in a parking lot and 2. the gasoline car , even when the reserve gas light is on, still manages 20-30 miles before really being empty which gives you plenty "real range" to find a gas station.

  • @ProductofCrew

Look - I understand where you are coming from. But saying these cars aren't daily driver worthy is a little extensive. I guess it depends on where you live really (climate), how far work commute is, how far appointments for doctors & etc. are from you.
I own a Model Y and it's my main vehicle. I drive it everywhere (I even "whip it around town" lol). I commute to work but its super short (less than 25 miles total) so the daily driving is of no concern for me in terms of range anxiety etc. The best area with a plethora of options of food is over 30 miles from me so I have to hit the highway to get to the city. I drove my Model Y to the beach (Late August early September) with luggage, 2 passengers including me, and our dog. We drove 75 mph constant for MUCH of the trip and then changed speeds when necessary (any time it was 55 we dropped to ~60mph depending on density of traffic). The Model Y was perfect, it literally went almost mile for mile what it was going to do and it ACTUALLY increased the predicted range i would have when arriving to a supercharger, which meant my wh/mi was better than expected. I consumed 267 wh/mi at an average of 75 mph highway and road tripped 921 miles total. My brother owns a 2018 Model 3 and he has never had any issues with range, he drives everywhere to golf and never has an issue. I'm not bashing the presentation of the range for these cars, but it's a little overblown to say they aren't good daily driver vehicles. That's just not true.
I also live in the state of Pennsylvania so the change in climate can be sporadic and can affect my wh/mi. During the winter months like right now, I chop through energy, but that's expected because I know what it takes for the heat pump to keep a temperature differential in upwards of 50 degrees (20 degrees outside, 70 in cabin) and how batteries' performance are affected in super cold/hot climates. When purchasing an electric vehicle you have to remember - the car is not using wasted energy (a typical ICE uses wasted heat from the inefficiency of combustion engines) to heat the cabin. Your heat comes from the battery that is also propelling your car down the road.
Now the build qualities of these cars I cannot defend. That's all on Tesla. Fortunately for me my car is near perfect and you really have to search to see any imperfections on the car.

As I don't know if anybody already told you, just let SeC change the Trunk seal.
This is a known issue with a wrong seating of the sealing lip.
SeC changed it under warranty in my case.
Looked exactly the same, with all the annoying side effects that come with it.
Like bad sealing, worsened trunk closure line gap, rubbing paint off edges aso.
Took a few SeC visits to figure that out but the second service rep knew and fixed the problem by changing the seal on Teslas behalf.
He said the old one cannot be fixed, it has to be changed.
Now the trunk lid is a perfect fit.
If your SeC does not know about that issue, you can always give them my VIN.
    Just let me know.
Your bluetooth issue, in my opinion, derives from the car being in hibernation/deep sleep.
As you do not seem to use it often (judging by the dust on it ;-)) it does that to preserve the battery if Sentry Mode or Smart Summon standby are not active.
Which makes complete sense if the car is in a safe area like your garage as standby drains up to 7 to 10 % per day.
To circumvent the delay of the bluetooth connection which is of course a pita, I recommend having Sentry Mode active everywhere but at home and if not active and/or at home simply just start up the app about 4 to 5 Minutes minutes before you want to use the car, then forget about it. That wakes it up and there you go. Phone key connected.
To alleviate the door button problem there are these stickers images.app.goo.gl/62BmEXJe7vyo2nGt8
Or these, which is what i use: images.app.goo.gl/1PfYiGUCuko9aNwe7
It is not ideally solved by Tesla though, I have to admit.
B u t , in my M3P the windows move down even if the security handle is pulled.
So, for everybody's peace of mind, it seems to be not a real issue anymore.
I am not sure though if Tesla maybe changed the hardware somewhere along the way adding electric contacts to the security handles as i own a September 2020 M3P.
Otherwise, me personally, I love those buttons which electrically knock the door open.
The 'range' given on the screen is completely useless because it always shows the WLTP range no matter what conditions you drive in.
This is why many people, including myself change that indicator to percent and just use it as a guess.
You can find a way more accurate range guess on your Model 3's display under 'consumption' and if you choose 'trip' you get a pretty accurate realtime calculation of your milage in form of a graph.
Obviously the range drops with temperature in cold weather conditions, doesn't everybody know by know?
So pop up consumption, compare that to the percentage and combine it with your always rising experience with your car and there you are.
Ok, driving a Tesla is more rocket science than driving almost any other car, admitted.
Maybe there is a reason for that? ;-P
But if you successfully tackle the challenge, it is, in my opinion, utterly rewarding...
A perfectly secure, comfy Car with all 5 seats heated, FSD, Cinema, Games, plus an incredible stereo system.
Surely not for everyday commutes of over 300 miles though for the time being.
    I give you that one.
    But they just got started...
By the way, they just opened the new supercharger factory a short time ago.
    So everything is on track.

I drove it 325 miles and had 30% battery left. I have had no issues with my phone unlocking the doors. I was quite worried before pickup but so far I LOVE the car. I can't remember the details, but I believe the car heats the battery in cold weather for optimal charging, and with the low voltage charger, it would probably not be enough to provide heat the battery and increase the charge level.
Also, one of the things you need to remember about your electric car, especially in cold weather, it also uses electricity to heat the car. So if you are driving in freezing weather and you're keeping the interior comfortable, it may not have the same range as presented on the screen. I'm curious if the mileage calculation by the car's software does that sort of calculation to establish the correct range.

My experience hasn’t been at all similar, and I own a lot of cars.
No gaps at all in my ‘22, but had major issues with my ‘20 Sierra (bed was misaligned by more than an inch!). The Bluetooth has worked flawlessly for 4 months other than when phone battery is low, and then I have to unlock the phone for it to reconnect. Your bumper and trunk could be fixed in 30min, and should have been before taking delivery, or under warranty.
The manual door release also doesn’t “ruin your door”… it’s completely possible that it won’t lower the glass if not pulled up all the way, which can cause the glass to catch the trim (again, mine seems to work every time and of the 3 people that have done it, it hasn’t hurt a thing).
I commute 5,000mi/month and have zero complaints… even in the cold, the navigation updates itself to get you to a charger when needed - even though the battery gauge doesn’t reflect the actual range. % is always damn close (within 2%) for me. Rely on % and navigation, and not miles remaining. They do need to fix this, but you can trust the nav.
It does suck for you not having superchargers around - everywhere I go has plenty (all over the east coast). I don’t agree with you on 110v - I had zero issues charging in the cold, but you do need to put the car to sleep first.
The old heater is by far the biggest drain in the cold, as well - you’re probably dealing with that more than you know.

    • @gamitro
      @gamitro 2 ปีที่แล้ว

About the heater, the newer heat pump system seem to work very well here in southern New Mexico. The heated seats and steering wheel are probably a more efficient way to keep warm than using the HVAC in a hi setting in the winter.

  • @FFE-js2zp
    @FFE-js2zp 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Keeping the car at 100% charge destroys the battery. Tesla says never charge it above 80% or below 20% or the battery life is ruined. So your 80 miles total range is 45 miles.

  • @ElJory15
    @ElJory15 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Yeah he's right. The older Model 3s get beat in the winter. They don't have the heat pump which reduces range by 50% in cold weather. Otherwise the any newer models with a heat pump should be OK. One thing worth mentioning: your state does not have a good supercharging infrastructure. In most major metros, the “range anxiety” feeling you’re describing isn’t nearly as bad because there are supercharging stations every 10 or so miles in most directions. Here in the DC area, for example, there are superchargers in just about every other town.
Couple that with living in an an area with a moderate or warm climate and most of these issues are circumvented. Great video from the more “rural living” perspective though!

I've reviewed a few electric cars and I found some electric cars that are far more interesting than Tesla in many ways.
I'm no fan of Tesla, but I have massive respect for them because they were the ones who built the first ever DESIRABLE electric car, not an electric car that is just dull eco-box (like what Top Gear basically built, or what Mitsubishi did with the i-MiEV).
I've seen a some Audi E-Trons, to me these would be my pick if I were to choose an electric luxury car!
I've reviewed the Skoda Enyaq, the MOST practical electric car from what I've seen, and its funny because most electric cars I've reviewed, suffered badly from practicality, and it appears that the Skoda Enyaq are almost an exception.
I've reviewed the Kia EV6 very recently, and I have to confess I feel like its the BEST VALUE FOR MONEY electric car at the moment. It has virtually everything you desire in an Audi E-tron, fully loaded, and you pay only 60k Euros, here in Belgium!

Agree with you 100%. I was excited to take one for a test drive ( albeit a short one) but the great powertrain design cannot compensate for poor and sometimes absolutely disgusting build quality control and dealing with "The Tesla Way" in making a computer game on wheels forcing a Windows/Mac divide in how you drive it. Obviously some things will be different like single pedal driving but FFS every time I indicated, the cruise control went on. Why don't they just change the position of the brake and accelerator so you hit the gas every time you brake or a steering wheel that reverses the steering direction to really balls it up. I am an old curmudgeon and while I would love to have an EV, it will be something more mundane like the Kia eNiro which still drives like a normal car and not trying to isolate me from years of convention so I don't have to relearn when I get in my diesel Sportage for road trips. Was bad enough when we had European designs in OZ ( Ford Escort etc.). Headlamp flashers and wiper stalks were reversed so you would wash the windscreen with the headlights and flash your washers....GRRR and then back to the regular car just after you had adjusted....GRRR

I would say a Tesla or any other electric car is probably not the most practical car to drive if it's your only transportation, but if you have a gas car for the occasional road trip, an electric car makes a lot of sense for everything else.

I am sure some who buy a Teslar love it .Because they only drive it not for long distance .Or do not mind only driving long distance in a direction that has charging stations .And if they do need to plug it in on a trip .Its not a problem because they sit on a toilet for 30 minutes anyways. And they make sure they are not going to take a long trip when its real cold or if its to hot .And can find shade to park the car in if its to hot out .Or can plug it in while at work. And do not live in a apartment .And live not far from a place that can fix the electronic if it ends up having a problem .And if they do not mind spending more money as time goes buy and need new battery pack for 20,000 .Sure a Teslar would be great . But at this point and time . Most people in the U.S will not buy one . If someone is unfortunate to run out of gas its awful .You have to get a ride to a gas station .Buy a 2 gallon gas container. And 2 gallons of gas .And then still need to call a cab or get someone to give you a ride back to the car .Its awful .But needing to get your car towed to a place that has a station with a plug in to have it charged possibly 100 miles away .For many people is worse . Not saying they are not fun or something different to drive . Just that for most people in the U.S have no interest in spending more money for a car that has less range and is not as simple as a gas car . Most people do not want to hang out at a gas station with a recharge for 30 minutes or more . Some guy did a long trip on a video .for driving 2,000 miles .Added all the charge times together .Over 8 hours . I have driven 2,600 miles from Massachusetts to Montana . Not just the 2,000 miles the Teslar guy did .Which means if he had done my trip to Montana .He would have had to added another 3 hours of charging . So 11 hours waiting versus my one . Sure most people are not going to take a drive like that .But they are going to be taking away their time more every time they are out having to plug their car in . So how much time did they spend hanging out at a recharge station for the time they owned the electric car .Add those times together .They hung out at a station for weeks total .Some people prefer to spend those weeks on a vacation .Not at a recharge station .

Moral of the story, don’t live in Idaho lol. I appreciate your honest review and it gives me a lot to think about. But a lot of the issues seem to be location based. My area is warm and there are millions of super chargers near me. I doubt I would have the same issues.

@@NeonAstralOfficial It's not an excuse. If you live in an urban area and that's where you're going to spend your time (or on major highways) and that resolves the problems, then they're not problems for you.

UK Model 3 driver here. I knew we’d have problems in winter - but even I was surprised at just how fast the battery drained in the cold. Yeah, I love the car - but I wasn’t ready for that.

Getting all the hate for speaking facts.
A lot of the problems listed are fixable but stuff like that shouldn’t happen at all for this price range.

For opening the door they should actually put the switch on the lever that everybody pulls !

@@integra8502 why? The only way to make change its to TEACH people new ways to do it. Kind of like it was not instinctive to pay bills online at first. In the old days NETFLIX was derided for not offering a PHYSICAL copy of the DVD to play movies. CHANGE took time and now there is nobody making DVD's. NEW and BETTER tech needs to be taught to the ignorant masses not changed to placate the idiots.

the door release is not a problem its design on frameless door cars. its because the window rolls down when the door opens if it doesnt roll down and the door opens its fine but the problem comes if you close it because its raised to high. with the car on the window goes down even when the emergency latch is pulled. If the car was dead tho fully and you open the emergency latch check and see if the window rolled down if the window didnt roll down you cant close the door period or you will scratch the chrome trim mayb even shatter the window if slammed
