    Awesome review of Tesla's best feature! One surprise/subtle feature, re supercharger details @10:42 : those POI icons (food, bathroom, coffee, shop etc) underneath supercharger details,.. are LIVE buttons. They will actually LIST on the left and show labeled (letter) pins on the map, businesses in those categories! So you can see WHAT restaurants are around the charger, and where they are, helping you decide to stop- eg, one supercharger has a favorite burger place, but too far away across the street? Go to next one, has better taco place. etc
    The one-bolt level2/destination chargers, also are labelled with letters on the map and are in grey, so you can find them easier vs superchargers.
    2-bolt are "urban" 72kw superchargers, usually at shopping malls, or also some 3rd party DCFC like EVGo that have Tesla connectors (usually slow, like 50kw.)
    @15:09 if you are lost, the bottom right text will show current street and city/state.
    Tapping the top of the turn-by-turn directions (and the compass rose mode), will switch between next turn details, and showing the next leg (multi-stop route) or entire route (zooms out on on map) and listing (the turns list) . Very handy if you want to see how far you are along a long boring trip eg highway, you don't care about seeing close-up view, but want to see overview of how far you have to go to next stop or entire destination.

    Excellent! Most of this I knew - I love Tesla Navigation! But your tutorial enlightened me re: Favorites, and reminded me of other aspects I can make use of. Well done!
    A note: I live in Sacramento and drive to San Francisco regularly. One time I got in the car, and entered a museum I was going to in SF. Instead of the most direct route of ~90 miles, it routed me all the way around SF Bay, through San Jose, for a trip of ~180 miles!
    At first I thought there must be some horrendous traffic accident on I-80. But as I was wondering if I really wanted to go to that museum, I noticed that somehow “Avoid Tolls” was turned on. I turned it off, and sure enough, there was my direct route on I-80, over the Bay Bridge, into The City!
    Phew!
    I’d rather pay the tolls than double the length of my trip!

    Awesome video where you explain all fantastic features in the navi system. Good to see for everyone so they actually are aware of all stuff that's in there. Many people have very advanced infotainment systems and they use only a small part of it. Why pay for a Rolls Royce when you use it as an old Trabant? 😊😊

    How can I choose an alternate route? The route planner picks the best route considering traffic, distance and time. But sometimes I want to take a different route because I know the traffic will clear up by the time I get there. Or I may want to use "surface" streets instead of freeways because, again, I know they will have less traffic. There is no "avoid freeways" as far as I know. On google maps, I can drag the route line to a different street and it will adjust the rest of the route to take me that way. And yes, I can use my phone to do that and then push that route to the car but I'd rather do it directly on the car's display. I have also had situations where I drive off the planned route and the planner tries to get me back on its choice. I have to End Trip and then put in the destination again. And I can't do that until it becomes obvious to the planner to take the route I want otherwise it just tries to get me back on its original route. Thanks, Cody for the quick rundown of all that detail. Cheers and drive safely.

    Maybe I’m in the minority, but I really want them to add and off-highway option. Many times it may be 5 minutes longer but it’s easier and more efficient than the highway. Otherwise I find it to be the best in-car nav outside CarPlay/AA.

    • @CfTesla
      @CfTesla  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yea like maybe a toggle switch in the navigation panel. I doubt we will ever see it though since most people wont prefer that.

      This is a big problem I have with Tesla Navigation. It favors interstates and expressways which ALWAYS are more congested no matter what time of day. It is damned if you do and damned if you don't because when traveling across country, you want to stay on the expressways and the interstate systems. Just a little gripe that I am sure Tesla will eventually address.

    Dope video as always. Could you do another video on your CarPlay setup? A lot of your CP video is installation but I think a lot of us would like to see your thoughts and work flows after a few years. What do you actually use? What is music like if you actually use it. Just some ideas. If you do use stuff a live walk through from opening door to using it would be super cool. Cheers! Great channel.

    Cody, If a stop is added for the purpose of forcing a specific route, but you only want to drive BY that point and not stop/park/exit, then, upon reaching that point, how do you get the nav to stop considering that stop and move on to the next stop? Can you say something like, “Proceed to next stop.”?

    Questions: if I use the (wireless) Carplay, does that mean that the Tesla Premium Connectivity will not be used? All connection will go via the IPhone?
    And about Bluetooth in the Model Y, is it possible to use multiple Bluetooth devices simultanious? I noticed only 1 device is connected/working, while I see multiple bt devices in my known list.

    • @CfTesla
      @CfTesla  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      What wireless carplay are you referring to? I can tell you that my CarPlay screen in front of my wheel has no impact on my Premium Connectivity. It connects via bluetooth to my phone and the car acts as normal.
      No the car like most bluetooth devices is only capable of one connection at a time.

    How do you make Tesla Navigate down streets that it doesn't usually use?
    And can you save that route as a favorite?
    I like to avoid traffic so I use side-streets. Tesla Nav always wants to use the busy streets.
    I'm way more comfortable letting FSD do it's thing away from the other cars.
    Is there a way to do this?

  • @NeilBergman
    @NeilBergman 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    You said, "For example it won't get into the fast lane when it knows you need to take an exit." Well, that's a good theory and it certainly SHOULD be the case, but my FSD beta has done that exact type of thing more than once.
    Also, what calendar app on Android works with the Tesla to allow you to navigate to where your appointment is? Is it the Google calendar app? My phone is a Samsung so it also has a Samsung calendar app. Will that work or does it have to be the regular Google calendar app?

    • @CfTesla
      @CfTesla  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Oh i was meaning only when you are within .5 of a mile of your exit. It does it all the time outside of that.
      Tesla will only sync with apple calendar. If you use Google calendar AND also use google calendar as long as the google calendar is logged into and showing events on your apple calendar app it will display on your tesla calendar but the car itself will not sync with and Android device.

    • @cgamiga
      @cgamiga 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@CfTesla Incorrect, tesla app DOES sync w/ my native Google calendar just fine (on Android phone), works great! Recently saved me from going to wrong dr's office for an appt- my brain forgot it was the other location, but lukcily I had noted it correctly in google, Tesla took me to the right place!
      You do need to enable calendar syncing in the app, for both platforms, for this to work .. and yes, if you have iPhone but use google calendar, this probably won't work.

    I rely a lot on voice directions. In my Toyota navigation system, when voice direction starts, the radio temporarily mutes and then turns back on again after the direction is given, so that I either hear ONLY the navigator or the radio. How do I do this on my Model 3? (I usually just drive with the radio off.)

    Can you program a trip that is saved with way points to take you on particular route.can that route be saved? I dont think so.
    I just got home from 1500 mile trip on FSD. Recharging gets old very quickly.
    I tried all the third party apps on this trip. They mostly all suck.
    My wife uses the send destination to tesla with her phone while were driving when she decides to not ask me if i want to go some where that she knows ill say no.
    Took me a while to realize when she turns the screen towards her she isnt actually using the browser she is blocking me from seeing the new route.
    If you dont have a data plan your not a tesla person. Your a pruis person and i woukd navigate to toyota immediately.
    FYI the wife got me a strike playing with the browser. Apparently it did not like that she kept typing and it thought it was me. Pissed me off. Tesla needs to end this strike nonsense unless there buying the insurance or giving the car away.

    Sorry, but this sort of video just doesn’t work for me.
    The onscreen manual doesn’t ether - you can’t flip between a manual page and - on the same screen - the nav display constantly and absorb the info.
    Your video is unfollowable - it’s so fast that I can’t even pick up what you are talking about before the images have moved on.
    All of which shows just how much we have regressed from having a printed manual in one hand while working out how to operate the thing.

      You can view or download the manual HTML or PDF on phone or PC as well; mine actually came w/ printed manual, but, it gets a bit out of date soon! (Seeing how I get car updates every 3wks or so!)
      Tesla is a LOT better at "modal screen windows" than other car infotainment... full-screen things like car settings menu, browser, music source fullscreen, or manual will cover up the map, but easy to swipe down and get the map back. I *really* like having the always-on/visible map display, unlike other cars that you get easily lost in pages of options, settings, modes, etc... Sandy Munro got *really* frustrated in VW, hard to find "home" button!
      I agree the video would be easier with a visible "mouse/touch" highlight, but unlike screenrecording a phone or pc, you can't follow that on the car. It would have been easier maybe with a carefully framed video of the actual screen and his finger tapping, but then hand would block it all the time and bonk focus.
