    Just finished the pulley change on my Redeye. Had put a K&N CAI on it about a month ago. Loved the blower whine.
    After the engine work and dyno it all came to light. The K&N cost me many hp. The best of all by far was the factory unit. No question, no doubt.
    Car is an animal now. I'm sticking with the factory CAI. We are adding an intercooler tank to bring the temps way down. These cars are incredible.

    This is 4 years too late, but the difference in air flow comes from the pipes installed between the two. Meaning if both closed and open CAI’s are installed correctly with the heat shield on the open CAI. Also the colder air occurs more when the car is in motion, not when it is at a light. More people prefer the open due to the sound. However, if you’re looking to maximize your CAI, get it tuned. You’ll get a bigger boost in HP.

  • @jordannyc2769

    The gauge on your dash computer read the temperature post combustion, thus it does not give you any difference. You need to measure at the tube right after the filter to read différences

    There was an experiment about ambient temp on open vs enclosed intake. The enclosed air was cooler because less air from around the engine was used. Of course the enclosed intake was quieter and produced less airflow. Honestly the hellcat is tuned amazing, no reason to mess with the intake or exhaust imo. I like the whine.

    The rad induction is open on top but the hood seals it off. At least that is the goal. So, basically the Momentum look mores sleek, is quieter, and has a little bigger filter. That really doesn't to most cars since they are not modded to need much more than stock. The RAD versus is just so much more throaty. The other sounds like the dog barking through a tube. I slapped one in my Charger along with ported upper and lower intakes with a 80mm ported throttle body with adapter, RIPP Ignition coils coupled with NGK LASER IRIDIUM plugs and my charger dummy quick and responsive in everyway especially on COLD STARTS it's QUICK. And I've got the 2019 BLACKTOP PENTA STAR 🥴😂😀 THE AFE DOES WORK. IT GIVES ME 18+ ADDITIONAL HORSEPOWER. The only way you can see the results in before and after is on the DYNO! For example, the first thing I did was installed the AFE. I had it DYNO and it read 17 additional horsepower. Then I put the upper, lower intakes with throttle body all ported and the DYNO pick up an additional 30 + horsepower. Even after upgrading to the RIPP Coils and NGK'S that gave me 10 horsepower on the DYNO. And finally I upgraded the exhaust and slapped a pair of MRT VERSION 1 CAT BACK'S and one single FLOW MASTER ORIGINAL 40 and that gave me 15 ponies and allowed it to really breath. My shit sounds crazy. And if you add up them numbers it all comes out to major gains compared to when I purchased it off the lot. AFE WORKS!

    @PotatoeJoe69 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    For the challengers and chargers probably not because they already have exceptionally good cold air intake boxes from the factory.
    If you ever changed an air intake on one of these cars, you know that it has a special hole in the fender to draw air from that is completely separate from the engine bay. Most cold air intakes do not utilize this properly and so are pulling hot air from the engine bay instead of from the outside.
    That said even though I'm pretty damn sure a cold air intake does absolutely nothing for these cars I still purchased one just because I like the way it looks.

    A proper heatshield doesn't let in hot engine air. What you did was replace a CAI for an airbox that has a CAI filter stuck in it.
    And on top of that, given your hood has the heat extractor vents (one being over the intake) you have now robbed it of having more access to outside air (which matters when stationary) by putting in an airbox again.
