Glad to see your project is coming along, a few setbacks are to be expected I suppose.. If you remember I commented about trying to purchase a Mini of my own, I have now gone and picked it up! Even got her running, altough she does need some love.

No kidding buddy could have swore I have seen u scraping a load of old gasket sealant off your heads glad u cleared that up before I put gasket sealant on mine cheers boyo

Should of cleaned the paint of the engine where the water pump and timing cover fit. Also fit the crank pully befor tighting the cover bolts so you no the seal is sitting right on the pully

Please do a video on rubber bushing replacement ! For front and back! Having difficulties doing it :(

The bushings on the lower control arms? Those things are a bastard! My rear subframe drop or install(I forget) video talks about the rear bushings in detail. I will be touching on the front ones when I put the suspension back together but that will be a few videos away still. :-)

No head gasket lube ?

Can’t tell if sarcastic or not over text. Definitely not though. Head gasket must be dry and the two mating surfaces perfectly clean.

Definitely never use any sealer or whatever on a cylinder head gasket. What we used to do with copper head gaskets was run the engine up with no coolant until its hot to touch. let it all cool down to cold and then fill with coolant. This melts the lacquer in the copper gasket. Not a specifically Mini thing as I did it on all my escort Twin Cam and BDA engines and never had a head failure.
