Excellent write-up. Thanks! I just picked up a 07 V50 that was sitting in a field. Threw a gear selector module code and some forums point to the blind as a possible cause. I may also find coffee or soda gunked up in the assembly but your tutorial was nice to see how to get in there.
This is definitely one of the most helpful videos I've seen on this issue, thank you for showing exactly where all the clips were. I'm going to attempt this fix as soon as the new blind comes in!
why buy OEM replacement part if the original one rotted away? I am ordering aftermarket. I don't use manual mode very often, but it stopped working for me since my shifter blind is in pieces. Thanks for making this video. I drive a 2009 Volvo C30 and this helps.

How did you put it in drive without the battery???
