thanks a lot bro i just replaced mine today! a small tip for anyone doing this: when putting the gear knob back in place, first put the ring in the knob's shaft (but don't insert it fully on the knob, just enough to be around the closing plastic 'skirts' - otherwise you wont be able to put the whole set back in the main shaft). After that, insert the set into the shaft till the end. Once in the shaft, you just rotate the ring clockwise and upwards very easily and its gonna close it properly.

Magnet polarity makes a difference. 2009 C30. I bought a blind, but once fitted the manual gear selection did not show. I removed it, put the original magnet slider in the new blind and it worked. The original slider was marked POM3, the new one POM2. if you put the faces of the two sliders togther, they attract, if they were both the same polarity they would repel.

    CAUTION: WARNING:
Great video save 1 item. Gearshift knob breaks if removed this way. Mine now spins. Volvo said the entire console must be removed, remove parts from bottom up To do it properly.! I now have hundreds to spend to replace the knob.
Dealer did say use JB plastic steel to cement the collar to the knob, then collar to shaft as a cheap fix.

@@WrenchingMafia I don't think it could go the other way; if the magnet were down, it would bend the part and it wouldn't fit. It's possible to insert the slider into the blind inverted, but then the blind wouldn't fit back on the shifter.

Hello, I noticed a small silver magnet located in the top left area when you first lifted the lower cover off, but it is gone when you put the shifter blind back on. Was that magnet leftover from the previous blind?

@@WrenchingMafia ahh I didn't think of that. I've got 2 volvo's and the 2.4 console is aluminum and has some dents in it. While the 1.8 has a wood affect which I really like.
It's a shame I couldn't just take the wood effect one and just put it over the one with aluminum .
It looks like I'm going to have to put my hand in my pocket and by the wood effect one. Thanks for your help once again and I had subscribed ✔👍🏿
