    Yep, easy access to the chute is a big plus, but no real point if the declumper is already good! Which so far on mine it seems to be the case.

      I have a bit of static but I have with all my grinders. This declumper is great and very low retention

    I might DIY my power cord so it comes out the back or coil some back into the base of the grinder. Doesn't look like it would be too difficult

    I just got mine today, and I'm finding that I can't seem to get the front plate off, to access the chute. Any tips?

      I figured it out. I think they've slightly updated the internals since this video -- the four large screws on now require a hex key to undo. You need to loosen these screws in order to remove the chute cover.

    Looks like there is enough room in the base to store excess power cord. Probably not designed that way but a nice option.

    • @portakeeper
      @portakeeper  ปีที่แล้ว

      The base has a fair amount of room. You would have to take apart and be careful.

    Same price Atom 65 vs DF 83. I know they are different and I kind of dislike Eureka since my Silenzio is poorly made but which one would you choose?
    They are both around 800 where I live. Both have 0 support after purchase.

    Hello, I just got one myself and I find that it heats up really fast, the whole body is warm after couple minutes. From your short disassembly I can notice that the motor has no airflow what so ever.
    Would it be viable to use a dremel tool and adapt a small fan on the back of it, or just passive airflow vía some fins? (Was thinking something like the Mazzer Kold 80x80 cpu fan)

      I would not cut additional venting. They really are not designed to run for minutes at a time. They are a home use grinder not an NSF rated commercial grinder. Most of my shots or doses for drip grind within a few seconds.

    @andreiindru4570 ปีที่แล้ว

    Seeing the bottom opened up, I still don't understand why the power cord wasn't routed to the back of the grinder. There seems to be enough space between the capacitor and the exterior wall lip for the wires.

    my df83 got stuck in the shoot after the catch up filled up. It's because of the tapering of the inner shoot. The white plastic. Outer shoot is a pain to take off. I end up broken the inner shoot when to take off the white cover lol.

    • @portakeeper
      @portakeeper  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ugh, sounds like it’s almost grinding too fast. Espresso outlet should have spare parts if you need them.

    • @linghu7
      @linghu7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@portakeeper great thanks man. I took a deeper look. The inner chute dark plastic is not completely flush at the screw plate end. So the chute was bit pointing towards the right hence jamming the outer chute cover smh lol.

    Great videos. The base and cylinder of my df83 are misaligned, so my grounds spout and dosing cup are shifted to the left. If I remove the bottom plate, (remove rubbber feet and screws) are there screws I can loosen to shift it back into place? Thanks.

    • @portakeeper
      @portakeeper  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes under the 4 rubber Feet there are screws

    • @LegendM0605
      @LegendM0605 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@portakeeper Yes, there are screws under the feet. You used those to remove the plate on the bottom. My question comes after you’ve removed the screws and the bottom plate. What screws would allow me to move the part where the base meets the cylinder it’s attached to?

    • @portakeeper
      @portakeeper  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LegendM0605 aaah there should be screws under that plate as well. If it’s still an issue you can contact where you purchased direct.

      @@portakeeper Niche for example has gears to manipulate the power of the motor to more RPM. You practicaly trade of torque for speed.
      I've seen gears on a niche tear down so I suppose it increase rpm. But maybe it also does the opposite increase torque.
