I been debating a lot about getting a cellular apple watch, but why pay more for a service i already have? If its inconvinient to run with my phone in my pocket i can just buy an arm or waist strap. Plus the apple watch wont fully do everything a phone can.. and if we want a new style we can just accessorize it which will save us tons.
I just added cellular data plan to my Apple Watch because I’m a preschool teacher. It does comes in handy when I’m teaching and need to have my cellphone put away.
As a teacher it is useful especially during outside time where your phone is inside the building and your outside!!! When you go to work and you left your phone at home it’s good to have the watch with the additional plan with it!!! You can go to the store while you leave your phone inside your car!!!
Not sure if i should grab the Series 6 GPS or Cellular... I would only be using the watch for fitness purposes and not using it as a phone to pick up calls or respond to text messages. Thats the point of a mobile phone... So idk which to go for. pls let me know as cellular seems expensive and the on-rolling contract.
I’m coming at it from a different angle. My 8 year old ! I know not just yet but it’s coming. I like the idea of her having the capabilities of a phone but not the phone it self. She lives with her mother and moms cell phone is her only means to contact me but not always practical. When she’s with me she just takes my phone and texts or calls her mother. She also has two activities where the covid restrictions limit parents from staying inside so having the ability to contact us gives me a Little peace of mind. Still not sure which way to go but thank you for the helpful information.
It’s one of those things that you don’t need until you need it. For example, I left my iPhone behind and I was trying to contact my dad. Didn’t have a phone on me anymore since I left it behind and that’s when the Apple Watch became handy. It’s perfect for emergency use. You’d never know what lays ahead and for that reason alone it’s great to have it.
On T-mobile when you get one of these, you don’t have the option to only get GPS, but I just called and confirmed, you have the option to drop cellular and just pay off the device
Wait I’m confused, if I don’t get the cellular data plan, will I still be able to use my Apple Watch as long as it is connected to my phone (which would be on me) and still see messages from my Apple Watch? Or do I still have to pay extra from my carrier
As long as you are connected to your phone, it all operates as normal. You only need the carrier version if you want it to be able to make calls and have internet access when you do not have your phone with you.
I love having a cellular watch. I don’t need my phone at the gym for music, on runs all I need is a watch and headphones. Previously on runs I had my phone for music, my garmen for high end metrics. The belt to hold the phone, and a heart rate monitor on my chest…
add cellular if you like to exercise without bringing your phone. it's really a big convenient. i jog in the park and leave my phone at home. great way to stay in touch if anything important happens.
I did add a line to my watch but not sure I need one . My phone is usually always with me , but at times I’m quite a distance away from it . For that reason , I have to ask , if there is no separate line on the watch what is the Bluetooth range between iPhone and Apple Watch ?

That's weird, in Italy it's REALY much cheeper. No activation fee, 5€/month (5.85$), first month free. So the first year it costs in total (including the surplus of the Watch) 155€(181$), second year 60€ (70$)

Although with the $5 a month plan I don't get enough data to stream music throughout the month, the $60 gives me some peace of mind knowing I can still make calls and text if I misplace, forget or lose my phone. As a side note, if you have your watch connected to cellular, turn off wifi on the watch unless you are doing something that specifically needs it. I was having trouble with text and calls at first because I had both on. When I spoke to Tmobile I was told to shut wifi off on the watch if you are using cellular. Now it works much better.

You can get all of those features to work if your phone is in bluetooth range of your watch. If you want to use your watch to make phone calls, listen to music, answer texts, etc. while you don't have your phone, you will need to buy the cell service.
@@robb.sutton if I did get the watch but didn't activate the cellular service if my phone broke one day could I activate the cellular service on the watch and use the watch as a temporary phone?
If you think about it these days most people get paranoid because they are addicted (like me) If they don’t see their phone nearby or sometimes when they leave it home knowing they got their watch to give them messages it’s anxiety making you think you lost it because you’re fumbling in your bag searching for it and freaking out then remembering it’s at home charging on 5% but you have your watch so you’re good. I know I would pull my phone out and check the maps when I’m going somewhere if I put it in my pocket or bag I’d suddenly want to check if I still have my phone did someone pick pocket me or did I leave it down somewhere. So my point is that even with cellular data on the watch I’m sure ppl will still want their phones if not on them then nearby even if they are busy but would like to stay updated on texts for emergencies etc whiles staying professional/occupied in whatever they are doing so it’s the same thing just get the watch with gps tbh. I really wanted the stainless steel Apple Watch but it did not care about the cellular so I bought it anyways and I was wondering do I have to set up my cellular plan with my cellular Apple Watch
Thank you so much for this because I had bought a watch for my daughter but thought I had to add another line to even use the watch and At&T almost got me to purchase an extra line but I figured I would research it first so thank you!!!!!!! I couldn't see spending that much extra per month so it was going back to the store.
To my understanding- if you don't have cellular then the watch goes off of your phone line - same #/access to everything on your phone. However, if you add cellular/data for $10/month then you can do the family setup for your child and you choose their contacts- but she won't have access to any of your personal phone stuff and she can be over 100 feet away and still use it....
I drive multi drop at night and always leave my phone in the cab while making deliveries. Sometimes I've missed calls or ext work related. I also forget to take my phone off silent. Just got the wife to get me the new iPhone 6 cell so this should come in really useful
The other advantage to the cellular one is if you were out somewhere in your phone died and your watch was still working. You can still make calls and do text messages and maybe send an SOS if needed.
I really benefited from this video to the extent that I changed my mind from going to buy cellular version to deciding to buy the GPS version only .. I like the way how you are presenting , but avoid putting funny movie clips so you keep a professional taste .
I had an apple watch with GPS only for 2 years and just upgraded to the 6 with cellular. My boss told me a story about how her phone broke and she was grateful she has her Apple Watch because she used just that for about a month til she could get a new phone. I also heard a story where a man was working on top of a roof, phone dropped, but he was able to communicate through his Apple Watch. I guess I'd rather be safe than sorry
I did the same thing. I usually get the GPS Apple Watch but for series 6 I went with the seller model sense I do road cycling and my iPhone 12 pro max it’s kind of too big to just keep in the back of my jersey while I’m cycling.
Would you be happy if you -aid for an hours tennis coaching & the instructor stops what their doing to answer an email, text or take a phone call? No you wouldn’t,so her reason for the cell package is ill thought at best.
First. Why would you even get the cellular version if you already have a phone? Second. Why would you waste money on stainless steel when there is no physical difference between that and the aluminum watch. All these features are a scam and a way of adding more expense to a already expensive device.

Very useful and to the point..
What if you didn’t have your phone with you? Would it work?
I drive multi drop at night and always leave my phone in the cab while making deliveries. Sometimes I've missed calls or ext work related. I also forget to take my phone off silent. Just got the wife to get me the new iPhone 6 cell so this should come in really useful
Thanks
My numbersync don’t work that’s a piece of crap with att
The other advantage to the cellular one is if you were out somewhere in your phone died and your watch was still working. You can still make calls and do text messages and maybe send an SOS if needed.
That is a HUGE benefit for sure. Especially for those that bike, hike, etc.
Hey yo I fucks with you just cuz you put Chris Farley in this
I only pay 10 a month with TMObile I never paid to activate it
Five dollars a month in Australia no set up fee
I decided not to so I don’t know what I can do without it
Thank you!!
I can’t have my Apple Watch on Bluetooth constantly cuz I have AirPods so I’m gonna buy a phone plan for my watch
Lol u can connect multiple devices on Bluetooth 😑
Or just connect the pods to Bluetooth
I really benefited from this video to the extent that I changed my mind from going to buy cellular version to deciding to buy the GPS version only .. I like the way how you are presenting , but avoid putting funny movie clips so you keep a professional taste .
So stainless steel one comes with cellular
yeah it only comes in cellular, but you dont have to activate it.
I don’t need a cell plan with Apple Watch I used Bluetooth for service
I cut my screen time down 80% got my life back
I had an apple watch with GPS only for 2 years and just upgraded to the 6 with cellular.
Mmmm idk, getting struck by lighting has the same, if not more, odds than any of those things happening to most people.
Yes I have a data plan on my Series 6 so I doesn’t have to take my phone when I mountain bike, 4x2hours/week, and risk damaging in during a crash.
Verizon activated my Apple Watch
First. Why would you even get the cellular version if you already have a phone? Second. Why would you waste money on stainless steel when there is no physical difference between that and the aluminum watch. All these features are a scam and a way of adding more expense to a already expensive device.
It’s 👏actually👏not👏worth 👏it
Just removed mine. 90% of the time my phone is on me.
This video didn’t help bruh lol
Lol seem like just a way to milk more of your money. I rather just buy a second phone get another line or something.
