      I'm looking for a display on my handlebar for my dirt bike with navigation. (I don't want to use my phone) I was thinking of a watch vs. Traditional GPS or another junk phone. What's the best move? Trying to avoid connecting anything to my bikes battery

    I would buy cellular version simply because i hate bringing phone to my morning or evening run. Apple watch cellular + airpods will do the job.

    There are two companies that I recommend that I know of if you don’t want to be locked into a contract and still want to take advantage of the Apple Watches cellular connectivity: there’s visible if you have Verizon coverage or wing alpha which I use works with Verizon as well but also supports AT&T and T-Mobile networks depending on the area that you live. Hands down these two are the best prepaid companies I come to love and enjoy. Except visible was not the right fit for me in my area, otherwise I love both.

    Where I live in Illinois (and I assume it's true throughout the United States), the Verizon charge for LTE cellular is $56 for activation fee ($35 plus taxes and surcharges), then $15.50 per month ($10 plus taxes and surcharges). I have an LTE cellular AW 7, but never activated it bc I like having my phone near me while running for photos.
    Important: All AW LTE Cellulars have free SOS 911 calling even if paid cellular service is never activate. 💙 This is a little know fact, and is the Federal law (if I device has cellular hardware, 911 must work). 🚨 Note: you were incorrect at 6:09 regarding this. Anyone interested, please google or AI search it for details.

    I wonder why he didn't brought up the most obvious reason. With the cellular version you can leave your phone at the locker if you go to the gym. I go 4 times a week and just need the phone for music.

    I don’t like to carry my phone with my watch if I’m going on a bike ride and I get a flat tire far away from home I can just ask my parents to pick me up if I have GPS I cannot contact and then I would be stranded with a flat tire thank you this was really helpful now I can go biking with no problem thank you 🙏 thank you so much this really helped. Thank you.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

    i have the LTE version. in class or during the gym, i just completely shut down my phone. i pay 2€/month for something called “number share”. even if my phone is shut down, i receive my calls, messages, i can make them but instead of unlimited data, i have about 10GB of fast LTE for the watch.
    did i speedtest, over LTE it’s capped at 10MBPS down and up, which is more than fine for spotify and whatsapp for the watch.

    I have an apple watch Se 2nd gen LTE. In India you don't have to pay for a cellular plan separately for the apple watch. I pay like 499 rupees in india which is like US $4. I have unlimited postpaid 5G, unlimited calls and sms with apple watch connectivity and E sim on both watch and iPhone. Value for moeny aspect of the apple watch depends upon the region in my opinion.

    I have the SE GPS/Cellular, and it’s 100% worth it! The GPS doesn’t work that well to connect to the Internet. And you don’t need a phablet all the time. “I said phablet since phones are almost as big as the older tablets now.”

    The watch is supposed to use wifi if that is available and only uses the cellular if you are not near your iphone to use its cell service. It shouldn’t drain your battery unless you’re using it when you need to.

  • @garethm3171
    @garethm3171 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    If you regularly go running or something similar then yes the LTE version is fine but given that most people carry their phone with them then it makes no sense to pay the extra for the lte version and the BT is sufficient.

    Bro. I like the LTE option and I have it on my Series 7 and the battery life is horrible I don’t think it will last 2-3 hours. So to me for most people it’s not worth it. But if you have an ultra it might be worth it.

    My frank opinion: Do you really use your phone while on a run or working out? I bring my phone with me on a run, but I've never used it will on a run or exercising. But when I do get phone calls, I don't take my phone out, I use my watch during times when I'm busy.

    Not really related, but should I get a used pixel watch for 100€ (I already have Fitbit premium) or a Galaxy watch 4 for the same price ??

    • @FrandChai
      @FrandChai ปีที่แล้ว

      how used is the pixel watch, these things sell for 350 bucks (gps) 399 (LTE) so it being sold for 100 bucks seems like something is wrong with it or its heavily used, if thats the case i think going with the galaxy watch 4 would make more sense, if its brand new, if both are used and the pixel watch is in good condition I would go for pixel watch, both are good, im not really fond of either watches so take this advice with a grain of salt, its just logical advice instead of a recommendation.

    I am still unfamiliar with eSIM. Can the apple watch and the iphone share the same phone number? Or you would need to have a separate number and data plan for both devices?

    • @MikeOBrienMedia
      @MikeOBrienMedia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Typically there is only one phone number

    • @spede1
      @spede1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You get two numbers but your watch will 'ring' when they call your cell phone. The watch number is a dummy number and not used other than to link the watch and cell phone together. You need a separate data plan for both the phone and the LTE watch which is like $10-$15. You can use an LTE watch without having it on LTE and it will act like the GPS version.
