Thank you for making this detailed video. FrSky just released Ethos 1.3.0 over this last weekend. Prior to 1.3.0, it wasnt possible to use multi protocol, and hence impossible to fly a blade heli with a Tandem transmitter. I fumbled my way though mocking up a config, using the information in the BL2 manual. But its obviously spektrum specific, so didnt exactly translate well. I actually busted my swashplate in the process. I had it fairly close. But having watched you walk through your config in Open Tx filled in the gaps for me. The only challenge is that there is no channel override in Ethos. So I just had to program an extra pitch and gyro curve, triggered by the logical switch config as opposed to using a special function. My replacement swashplate arrives Thursday, so I'll see how well it flies after that. But its now responding exactly as I would expect. Especially with the LED indicating correctly from flight mode and SAFE mode. I'm happy to share the ethos config file if you are interested.
Thanks for this video. I started flying CP helis with a DX6e and BL2, switched over to OMP helis using the DX6e with a tweaked BL2 file, and I just purchased a TX16S. This video and the .otx files you directed me to will help immensely.

Thank you, yes it Will discover telemetry automatically assume as powered on you just have to go in and set your widgets and turn on what you want to display.
Question, I'm an seasoned pilot and I wanted to try your stick deadband curves. Have you noticed that you have better servo centering getting rid of the deadband? I fly aerobatic planes as well and I have one model with good equipment that all servos center more accurately when the stick is quickly brought back to center. I'm going to try your setup and see if getting rid of the deadband allows the servos to be more accurate. Your thoughts?

I don’t see why it wouldn’t work with the 150 S! Are use one model file for all of my helicopters. You might have to reverse a servo little stuff like that but the base of it will be the same. The TX16S is a great radio but man can it be a pain in the ass to setup!

Im trying to setup a Nano S2 on my TX16S and trying to folow your setup as it seems like the same as the mCPX BL2 but when you get to the mixer part thats where I get stuck because when trying to set channel 5 source for Gyro and 6 for Pit I dont seem to have those options. I only get the options for Ail, Ele, Thr, and Rud as sources on my radio. What am I missing? How do I get Pit and Gyro as sources? I am running OTX v 2.3.14 if that makes a difference.

Hello.^^ Last time the 150s problem could not be solved, I bought the dx6 and after I finished the precise setting on the 150s, it seemed to apply to the tx16s. Is there any problem if I set bl2 to tx16s and flying it right away? please reply thank you.
Sorry for the late reply, just seeing your comment. You should be able to use the same file and tweak it a little bit. Just take the blades off the 150 and make sure everything is going the right direction and working like it should.
I got my radio master set up with my S3 nano blade some reason it wants to fly up if I give it throttle down now I did change broado to reverse and that will neither give me up or down some reason I can't make my helicopter go up unless I give throttle down and I've tried to reverse the throttle already
Dear WestHobbiesRC, thanks for sharing this great video. This video helps me a lot for setting up my Blade helis to my TX16S. But I assume there´s a little mistake in the order of timing for the rescue mode, starting at 08:10. L02 has a delay of 0.1sec relative to L01, meaning the collective goes to 75% first and 0.1sec later the heli goes to auto-level mode. Isn´t it correct to set a delay of 0.1sec for L01and to erase the delay of L02, so the heli first goes to auto-level mode and then the collective goes to 75%? I may assume that my proposal may be right especially when you fly inverted, so you don´t smash your heli in the ground. Am I right? Thank you very much and have a nice day. Best regards, Markus.
Dear WestHobbiesRC, I've been watching a lot of your videos on youtube and I'm alwyays excited of the knowledge of experienced pilots like you. I learn a lot about programming and flying a RC heli. I own some Blade helis (Nano S3, mcpx BL2, Infusion180 Smart, Fusion180 Smart, 230S Smart and an Fusion360 Smart) and I fly these helis using a Spektrum NX8. I also own an OMPHOBBY M1, M1 Evo and M2 Evo using a DSMX-satellite to bind them to my NX8. I just bought a Radiomaster Zorro 4in1 multi-protocol two weeks ago to have a more compact radio than my NX8 and I like that gamepad style of the Zorro. May I ask you to send me the otx-file for the mcpx BL2 and perhaps also for the other Blade helis, if you have a separate otx-file for threm. Is your file from the TX16S compatible with the Zorro? On another video, there was a guy explaining that you have to invert the output of CH1, 4 and 5 when using a Radiomaster in combination with a DSMX-satellite. @@westhobbiesrc8051 actually nothing it should be. Except pitch. And it randomly spools up and the swash goes crazy. I'll then fly it on my dx8 and it's all good. I'm baffled.
@@brandohim that’s super weird! I’m not sure on that one. So obviously it’s not a electronic problem if when you bind it to your DX eat it works like it should. I’ll have to do some thinking on that.

So unfortunately not that I have found, I am still working on it but I have been yet to be able to figure out how to make trim flight advanced settings work and the TX16S for models like the BL2, 150, 230 etc. thanks for watching.

Hello, that is normal. Blade says they did that so you don’t break main gears from a sudden stop of the motor. Not sure if that’s true. I’ve tired all kinds of things to get rid of it but it’s in the FBL
@@westhobbiesrc8051 Ive talked to horizonhobby, it is not normal, ive contacted them and they are sending a new board, try to contact them and you get a new board free of charge!
@@andresuribehenn I’ve talk to them and multiple others who have the same model and it is normal a new board is not going to fix it. I was told by their tax that it was designed to stop the initial brought stop on the main gear from stripping. But let me know if the main board does fix it
@@westhobbiesrc8051 I've seen a lot of comments online that people get new boards and it gets fix, on the event of a crash that 4 secs of delay could damage completely the helicopter
@@westhobbiesrc8051 If you're using a Radiomaster TX 16S ( i bought my first one last week so it's a Mark II), then you can set Channel 14 as throttle kill, it will instantly kill the throttle. Assign it with a Curve of -100. I've tested and this works 100%. Hope this helps
I can’t get any of the flight modes to work. I can only fly in one mode and flipping modes doesn’t do anything. I’m using a blade nano s3 and I set everything up like you did i think…

Edge TX is going to be a little bit different platform and open TX as far as programming and copying. Also not sure about the zorro as I’ve never messed with it.
@@westhobbiesrc8051 I was able to copy your settings after some trial and error, had to reverse rudder and aileron and setup 120 degrees for the swash plate. I just hovered my mcpx bl2 with radiomaster zorro!!! Thank you!

I learned to fly heli on the original mcpx. Several bad crashes, but I still have it and will never get rid of it.

Was this video ever issued? I currently have the gyro on the S2 bypassing the throttle hold and can't work it out.

No I have not. I did the full micro heli build on mine but the board is still acting up. I honestly think it’s just a bad board.

Nano S3 should be the same setup. I have a S2 I’ll try it on and see

Yes it will, the TX16S will bind to any DSMX protocol
