    I'm still flying an original brushed mCPx and crash it every flight! It's hit the deck a hundred times and still comes back for more. Amazingly durable.

    Blade needs to re-visit tail booms...coffee stirring sticks are out. The BL2 is a nice copter, but honestly for $49 more, the OMP M1 Evo is probably a better buy now.

    Nice review. I bought a BNF BL2 last month (to fit a scale Bell 407 body on) and since I'm very new to CP I also bought a BNF Nano S3 to train with. My Nano is tamed down and is alot of fun to fly. I'm now flying my BL2 with the same settings/file that I use for the Nano and it's equally as enjoyable with more available power. Another reason I went with the BL2 is the availability of a 4-blade rotor head from RAKON (which should be arriving any day now). I have no worries flying my BL2 in my living room. It's all about matching the heli with what you plan to use it for.

      That’s awesome! The BL2 Definitely a good little helicopter and will work perfect for what you were going to do with it. The best part about there being so many helicopters on the market is everybody can fly with a like! I like them all and they all have a different purpose from each other it is hard for me to only fly one brand and they all have their place!

    I purchased a BL2 several months ago and it's a "good" heli. I just ordered a M1. The BNF BL2 cost $199.00 and I spent an additional $20.00 for (2) batteries (The BL2 does not include a battery) and $50.00-$75.00 for RAKON Alum swashplate, head and blade grips. So we're looking at approx $300.00. My M1 was priced at $249.00 and comes standard with alum swash, head, grips and a battery. There are very few micro-heli's that can match the quality of OMP (My 1-month old M2 Explore is amazing). Had I researched the M1 I would've found that I can bind it to my Spektrum radio with a sub-$20.00 satellite receiver.

      In my opinion there is no better micro helicopter than the M1 and M2. You will not find another micro helicopter that has the same build quality and incredible flight performance. I have not flown my BL2 since I got my M1. Yes you can use a spektrum satellite

    Ive had the m2 for a while and just got the M1. Soo glad I did. Amazing quality on both. Im just now getting to where I can fly without auto leveling on both of them and my 330s. Ive crashed the m1 3 times in the grass and on carpet with no damage. Mild crashes with 60 throttle curve tho. I think the m1 is great for someone learning CP helis.

    The BL2 is a trainer helicopter, the lack of technological advancement in it is a testament to that. It can do some light to moderate 3D, but it is mainly meant to be a trainer. The M1 on the other hand is meant to absolutely go right up there with all the bigger helicopters. It can do all the same tricks, it can fly just as hard as the big helicopters. It's a 3D powerhouse. They actually put a technology inside if its ESC to overcome the biggest shortcoming of the helicopter, it's direct drive fixed pitch tail. It's called TALY or torque aided left yaw where the rotor head will actually speed up in order to keep the yaw rate consistent clockwise and counter clockwise and to keep the tail heading straight in times of low disk loading. It emulates what a belt drive, collective pitch tail can do making the M1 a fully fledged high performance 3D machine that can compete with any big heli vs the BL2 which is ultimately just a trainer heli, an indoor flyer on a bad weather day maybe.

    I have the mcpx bl2 and nano s3 they flight great handle 3D all day long with no issues But it’s a micro helicopter I will compare the m1 with the blade 150s pretty close to the same helicopter size with the huge advantage of forward programming on the 150s I have mine bind to a nx8 radio couple of tweaks on the setup and it will blow out of the water any m1 in performance and 3D maneuvers Price around 200 dollars or u can get a 230 s for around 230 dollars much more helicopter with the same programming capabilities btw great video

    • @westhobbiesrc8051

      I have the nano S2 as well as the BL2 and had the 150s and have still have the 230s V1 and V2. Now the 150 is more comparable to the M2 but will still not even come close to the performance and power of the M1 or M2. The 230s is a great beginner helicopter but that’s about it. Does not fly great and does not do hard 3D well at all. No power cheap plastic head and frame lots of slop. I had the 150 and sold it about a month after buying it. Was not impressed one bit. Flys very heavy and lacks power. Sure forward programming is nice but I would much rather have the OMP line up over the blade in the smaller helis. Not only flight performance but power and DD as well as build! The build is incredible with OMP unlike Blade. Also the FBL with OMP is 100 times the FBL blade uses in any heli. But to each there own. As long as your flying and happy that’s all that matters!

    I say m1 is definitely made for outdoors. The mcpx bl2 has less power but it's lighter so it needs less head speed, it's great for indoors. You can fly the m1 indoors but the blades dug through my drywall lol! Both have their places. Both are capable fliers. Obviously the heavier and more powerful m1 can handle the wind better. Also I'd like to point out that I do break my m1 tail on a bad crash, that's kinda expected since it has a lot of power. The m1 is for a more experienced 3d pilot, while the mcpx is for people who is just starting the hobby, since it's more forgiving on crashes, has lower head speed, and it's lighter. If you are the type to buy an mcpx and put aluminum and carbon fiber "upgrades" then just skip it and move on to the m1, because you are missing the point of durability and cheap repairs.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The BL2 was great for its time but long due for updating, not a bad heli at all but FBL board definitely needs help and has its weird issues. The M1 is definitely A better flying performer and all around great heli for its size and can be tamed down to fly as a beginner or Advanced machine. Yes it does not hold up is good in a crash as the BL2 but definitely out flies it in terms just flight performance and stability.

    Hi, thanks for the review. Think it's swung me in favour of the M1. Do you know if I can use my DX6i that I use for all my Blade heli's with the M1(or M2)? Or do you need a 3 position flight mode switch (DX6i has 2 position FM switch)?

    I've had both and the mcpx bl2 is far better for my needs, a 30 x 80 foot small area, plus a little bigger area too. If it came down to price alone the M1 wins easily as far as what you get.
    The M1 is an awesome heli, no doubt, it's smooth, precise, powerful, adjustable (I had to take my cyclic gains to 1) and fairly tough. It flies more similarly to my Trex 150x. It could have been the small profile and huge power, but something never felt right about it to me.
    I got an mcpx bl2 and it's one of my favorites. I've crashed it many, many times.
    The following mods make it very crash resistant : titanium main shaft (microheli), aluminum swashplate (MH, optional rear swash guide), solid tail boom with some rigged supports to landing skids (its ugly but strong so far), better main and grip bearings (the bent aluminum shaft probably killed my upper bearing). After doing these mods the dry weight is 58 grams and AUW is 72g with a 200mAh pack and 80g with a 350mAh M1 pack and adapter.
    I mounted the canopy directly to the AIO board and landing skids with EPP foam and some rubber type glue. It can be pulled off easily and glued back on. The stock frame is very brittle, so far I've broken all the canopy pins, the lower servo mount for the left servo (the servo and broken mount are glued to the frame with rubber type glue), the tail boom boss is split a bit (but glue fills it in nicely without the wires in the way).
    I have a cut down 65mm Gemfan quadcopter blade tail blade that seems to work better for me.
    It may have been the big heli feel, but whatever inexplicable quality it was it made me not truly enjoy flying my M1.

      Awesome mods to your BL2! They both have there plus and minuses. The BL was definitely a fun little helicopter and I still enjoy mine. But I do find myself not flying it as much since I got the M1. I definitely enjoy the M1 much more in flies much better for my needs. I definitely am going to try that tail blade, How far did you cut it down?

    • @learningtocrash4030
      @learningtocrash4030 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 they definitely help toughen it up, the aluminum shaft bent easily for me. I had a nice tail first crash today and bent my fin, but the boom is still strong.
      I cut it to 52mm. The shaft is 1.4mm and my local hardware store didnt have the right size drill bit so I used a 1.2mm Allen key to ream it out after drilling a few mm with a 1.5mm bit. The green blades are good for visibility too.
      I use one on my XK K110 too. Full length with a bigger 8520 coreless motor on a short boom. It was a great improvement.

      That can be a tough question, so what are your plans for the future? I tell everyone to always buy the biggest radio you can afford. The TX16S is an incredible radio for the money! You get so much radio for “cheap” it’s been fantastic and flawless for me. I’ve got thousands of flights on mine already and will recommend it to anyone. With that being said programming can be pretty difficult especially if you don’t know what you’re doing or it’s new to completely setting up a radio. But if you’ve never programmed any other radio you could definitely learn relatively quickly. You definitely get a lot more radio with the TX16S than the NX6 but both will do great for you. If you want the simplicity of radio set up and binding fly style in the future I would go Spektrum

      @@targetoz5470 yes the S2 is pretty much the same size is the 180 CFX it’s actually slightly bigger, but it flies incredible. The M one is a nice model my only complaint is tail blowout. If you start getting hard on it you will lose the tail every time and all three of my crashes with that model were because of tail blow out. So I always recommend the S2 because I have hundreds of whites on it and it has just been flawless zero complaints and parts are still extremely cheap.

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 If you read the forums, the BL2 has problems with the control board. It tends to become glitchy after a couple of crashes, where the heli suddenly starts banking by itself. I don't think it's a good heli. If someone is a beginner and is afraid of crashing, they should get the Nano or K110. If they aren't concerned about crashing, then I would skip the BL2 and go to the M1.

      I have read a lot of forms. I’ve had a few crashes and zero problems with it. Just like anything they are electronics and can have probably. I learned a long time ago just because people have problems don’t mean you will. Of course there is other options and different micro helis out there. The BL2 is good for what it is but M1 is far better in every way. Never owned or messed with the XK helicopters so can’t say but do own a few nanos and while they are fun for in the house that about it.

    No comparison.. really the omp out does it by all ..I can do funnels better on my bl2 tho til sloppy rear servo hit it..cheap HH junk..sorry I thought you meant the m2 ...I don't have the m1 ..the problems with the bl2 I've had was that big canopy holds to much heat in and Frys the board if over flone.and tail motor only last me 30 flites. I bought the m2 to replace it .but then I went back out and bought a new bl2 cause it's the first copter I learned to invert on so I got a special place in my heart for it ..I don't think it flys like the nano tho ..it has alot more power than thos

      OMP for me as well, just a fantastic design and well thought out. The FBL and flight performance is fantastic on the M1 or M2. My broad is going bad on my BL2 now. Nobody can feel the "old technology" that is on the MCPX, so it can't be really be counted as a disadvantage. The new technology that is more important nowadays is telemetry and a 3-axis gyro that really works....and the MCPX have them both. On the other hand, the OMP M1 does not have telemetry when using the S-FHSS protocol, and when using the OMP protocol with telemetry you lose control of the throttle....That's not the "new technology" I would call advantageous.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can 100% feel the difference between new modes and old models. You fly a MCPX and then fly a M1 you can feel the difference between the MCPX FBL and the M1 FBL. Telemetry is not the “new” technology. Better chips, faster processors, better servos, better frame design, more rigid head, frame and swash and the list goes on.

    • @nathan_kulit5852

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 Yes, I can feel how the Nano S3 FBL system is a lot better than the 1st gen Nano CPX. I haven't tried the new MCPX BL2 in person, but I presume the same is true between it and the original MCPX.
      Yes, I agree telemetry is not the "new" technology, but it is at least a necessity. Not having telemetry is inexcusable when you care about not killing your flight battery, because having a timer is not that reliable when you happen to grab a partially charged battery pack.
