@@KikinCh1kin That's an "anime" moment if I've ever heard one, just because a character's eyes pop out of their head when they're surprised or they run in place before they fall doesn't mean that's how it works in real life
To explain further: The anime is not real, in the literal sense. It's based off of Ash/Red's journey. In RBY, you are playing the events of Ash's journey that the anime bases how the story went. In GSC, you are playing as a new person who theoretically is keeping up with the anime and Ash, because you run into Red at the end of the game. We know that the game starts off with your rival as "???", so if that were the case that your character didn't recognize Red from the anime, when you battle him he would also be ???. So the anime is not literally real, it's a rendition of the events that Ash went through.
For wishmaker jirachi, you can actually corrupt your save data at a specific point in a new save file and be able to simply load a prior save due to the corruption from before obtaining the jirachi. this is an oversimplification of how it works, but I imagine that something similar could be thought out for pokemon channel jirachi. that would make hunting it much easier.
For the level of content that you produce, I'm surprised you haven't hit 100k subs yet, as long as you keep up the quality, I am a firm believer that you'll hit 1 mil in no time
As far as the shiny Jirachi goes, my older brother and I had a Pokémon Colosseum bonus disc that you can trade a jirachi over to a basically new save file for gen III. This can be shiny and doesn’t require any excessive time… I’m certain shiny Jirachi is difficult to get but not as difficult as the method you mentioned
@@a_wazza yeah, note that he is also implying it's the same jirachi, which it isn't. He said not as easy as the method mentioned, again, implying it's the same jirachi but easier to get, which it is not
a long time ago my friend found a single-panel sketch comic, of a Diglett on a normal wooden dining room chair, and the text bubble reads, "Diglett get off the chair! That doesn't even make sense!" as there is NOTHING under the chair at all, it's just diglett surrounded with its little dirt pile being cute on a chair.
I do have everything needed to get that Jirachi... I think there's technically also an exploit that allows you to reset so that the game forgets that you ever got the Jirachi, making it as if you didn't save, but it's very risky and can result in a lost save file if done incorrectly so like... yeah. That's also how people typically hunt for the Wishmaker Jirachi that comes with the Colosseum bonus disc, however that one doesn't require you to beat the league, you can just get it whenever, as soon as you have the Pokédex, so if you lose your save file while hunting for that one, it'll only set you back a couple minutes, and not like 4 hours.
Back in the day I explicitly remember the colosseum way and boy was i excited at learning that jirachi wasn’t shiny locked bc it’s one of my most favorite Pokémon. But I still didn’t do the grind for it bc I thought waiting a few minutes for my Pokédex each time was too long apparently.
Man i cant get enough of this obscure stuff. You are also the only TH-camr i watch who still covers the old games, and unknown/interesting trivia on top of that! I really enjoy it. Thank you for these videos.
Fantastic video! I keep coming to the same thought, that you really have a knack for tracking down facts that really are obscure. You brand of originality is refreshing, and I loved the diglett and dugtrio facts! Well done
With Zoroark in a double battle you can make any Pokemon look like it's using any move with copycat. Making Diglett use a move like Sunsteel Strike makes a section of the ground rise into the air with it.
If I remember right, I have three demo discs from toys r us when my sister worked there and I can get a jirachi onto any game file, one per copy. Also shiny zigzagoons lol they were called “demo disc #” and I think I have like numbers 11,14,16 or something. Still have them to this day :)
In the Battle Dome (the 16-trainer tournament) from the Battle Frontier in Emerald there's a referee that is only summoned if a player vs CPU battle ends in a draw (for instance, if either trainer knocks outs the last rival Pokémon but also loses their own last Pokémon to recoil damage). It is not exactly clear how he determines which player advances to the following round.
I know it's hard to prove without footage, but my best friend at the time actually got the red Jirachi off of Pokemon Channel when it was first released. The worst part? We'd never seen a Jirachi at the time so we didn't think it was rare until I got mine from my own copy, and we spent years not knowing which was which, by the time we realised the cartridge was long gone
I think it's pretty believable tbh. I those are the odds, with the sheer number of people who played the game it makes sense at least one person has to have caught it.
Another example of Game Freak not wanting to pull Diglett out of the ground is the move Telekinesis. It's a somewhat obscure move that makes the target ungrounded and makes moves used against it ignore accuracy checks. That is, unless the Pokemon in question is Diglett, Dugtrio, Sandygast, Palossand, or Mega Gengar, in which case the move will fail.
digglet and dugtrio not jumping in all that stuff is just huge attention to detail, they could have easily made the sprite jump anyway, rubble and hole in the ground included
Here is a crazy fact most don't remember or Know -Noahs Ark is Canon in the pokemon anime! In the first season, Brock tells ash to remember what noah did by sending a bird to find dry land Ash says: YES lets BE LIKE NOAH! - episode is the SS anne.
With the colosseum bonus disk in North America you dont have to beat ruby or sapphire to get jirachi. You just need the pokedex. Not sure if this one was properly shiny locked though.
The bonus disc Shiny-Jirachi was actually found 2/3 times by now but it’s no comparison since it’s waaay faster than obtaining the Channel Jirachi, even though it still is probably the most annoying hunt ever besides Manaphy. Also it’s Shiny rate is glitched and around 1:7200 iirc
If you try to shiny hunt the Pokemon Channel Jirachi and you average 1 encounter per day (literally a full time job), and assuming you have the worst luck in the world and need to go for the full 8192 tries, it'd take a little over 22 years...
Maybe we can ask Gamefreak for the next game to have a variant that shows Little mole paws sticking out of the dirt clods and have an alternate dugtrio where the Third Dugtrio in the back (the tallest one) is actually standing on the dirt mound and you can see its rare mole paws and stub of a tail. And this Diglett/trio might be nice to give it the star-like feelers of the Star-nosed Mole. I even made up a quick bio. "Region name" Diglett: This Diglett subspecies is the only Diglett ever to show what is underneath the upturned earth, shovel-clawed paws help it dig through the earth, Nearly blind, This diglett's feelers help it navigate the tunnels and to find food.
in Sword and Shield, if Diglett somehow uses a move like Sunsteel Strike, a small chunk of ground will leap with him proof: Nintendo Unity's video "Can Diglett use moves that make it fly or jump in Pokémon Sword & Shield?"
I've played in the Battle frontier so much that I've seen that old man tell his Dusclops to stop that. I didn't know that it was a rare text line though.
I’ve went through Emerald hell once. I ain’t doing it again for a shiny Jirachi. Context. I was given a fake Emerald version when I was younger and it would reset my game constantly. If I beat the Elite 4 and champion a second time, reset. Sometimes if I take the cartridge off my Gameboy or DS, it’ll reset. So I would play Emerald, again, again, and again. I used to be really patient when I was younger. I could switch train the level 5 magikarp to level 20 without complain. Now, I’m very impatient lol. Also, I found a shiny taillow once near Rustburrow, and assumed it always spawned there. So I’d always shiny hunt it. ALWAYS. The Hoenne region was my purgatory. But at least the Battle Frontier existed.
Might wanna do some more research. You can still get jirachi on the bonus disc for Colosseum which is a lot simpler than the pokemon channel method. Also last time i check some people have already recorded some live jirachi’s this way.
There are a couple moves that Diglett can use that will make it come out of the ground. The mound of dirt just comes with it. So I guess it's not really a special animation exception its just a funny model
Another great video! One thing I wanted to mention about diglett with it only being on the ground. Funny enough for a while in Pokemon GO when you evolved diglett into dugtrio, it would rise into the air like every other pokemon and you can see the flat bottom part of ground. However this got fixed I think kinda recently so now when you evolve diglett in GO, it is the only Pokemon to remain on the ground. Also for the Pokemon Channel Jirachi, similar to the Colosseum Bonus Disc Jirachi, you might not have to play through the entire ruby and sapphire game each time to get an encounter with it. There is a way you can corrupt your save file to load up the backup save for your ruby or sapphire game and you can load the backup save before you received the jirachi in game. However this is a chance this just deletes your save file or the backup save is simply after you received jirachi so Idk if going for that would be worth it either way 😂
7:00 another funny fact about this so if you get a Diglett or Dugtrio to use Sunsteel Strike, it’ll pull a whole mount of dirt out of underneath it to hide its body
Listen man I don't appreciate you both spelling my name wrong while using my footage of the RNG Manip I did while acting like what I did, which was research and translation for a retail RNG Manip for this Jirachi, doesn't exist. I get it, you think that RNG Manip doesn't count as legit or w/e. That's fine, but acting like it doesn't exist while using my shit isn't cool. It is just a different niche subset Pokemon Hobby and is a cool way to experience the series. Anyone can get this Jirachi really easy without any hacks or emulators, just like I did. I've gotten at least 2 shinies and 1 5 IV.
That’s my fault man, I really didn’t mean for it to come across that way. I think what you do is super rad and I’ve even thought about reaching out to you to collaborate on something sometime, since I know you have tons of experience with this stuff. I didn’t mean to make it seem like I was shitting on RNG manip, i just honestly have 0 knowledge about it. I was purely making the video from my perspective as a shiny hunter and what I know, and didn’t feel knowledgeable enough of the subject To go into detail about it. That was wrong though. I’ll put your channel link in the description, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter if this doesn’t feel right to you still. Sorry about that man. Really wasn’t my intention
I actually knew about the Jirachi for awhile, I have a friend who actually went for it for a couple hundred playthroughs. If I recall, he stopped around the 200th playthrough. It was with cheats and glitches, but had to give up entirely due to college starting up.
2 things, one is a compliment: first: When you asked what was wrong with the map in Mahogany Town, I immediately saw the tree like a sore thumb. I love finding those errors so thanks for displaying it in the video second: I really enjoyed the way you ended the video and how you went on about the rock XD
for the diglett fact, you should have included that a funny little “inconsistency” is when diglett follows you in HG/SS (and probably other games, you can go over bridges and let’s just say it is pretty illogical
Diglet canonically has feet due to a gag in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon when you save a diglet and have to fly it over a chasm. The screen just fades to black but diglet talks about how it felt so weird to have it’s feet dangling in the air.
It would take roughly 3.7 years to get a guaranteed shiny Jirachi, If anyone is willing enough to do that, I'd be 100% down to follow them throughout the whole journey
The Mewtwo I caught in Yellow way back when was turned out to be shiny, because it had the exact DV stats needed for it. Of course I only found it out when I traded it to Crystal. Fortunately I've transferred it to my copy of Pokémon Stadium 2, so it's safe (it uses flash memory to save instead of a battery, so I can't lose it to a dry battery).
I think the most mind-blowing aspect of this video is seeing my first ever Honkai sponsored video. Seriously, I don’t think anyone else gets sponsored by them for this game and not Genshin
What do you mean "extra line of dialogue", I played emerald a TON of hours and battle pike was my favourite facility. I mashed A so I've always seen and hated that line since 2005 Also to be precise, Castform holding mystic water is something you actually get in hoenn games - it's like part of the gift
I'd like to add to the Diglett trivia: In Gens 1 and 3, it can learn Mimic, and if you transfer it to a Gen 8 game (possibly 6 and 7 too), if you have it mimic a move that requires the user to go up into the air, like Flying Press, Sunsteel Strike, etc., the Diglett will ascend in the move's animation, but not without a huge chunk of the ground that serves no purpose other than to conceal what's beneath it.
Props for the music you use: Deus Ex, Guille's Theme... They add a layer of mistery/epicness that those obscure useless facts shouldn't have, I love it
3:33 Tower engulfs the top of the tree, also hiding the tree behind only allowing the peak to show (vice versa). The tower's support beams are hidden in the foliage, logically tying together all of the missing parts.
3:58 Might be a reference to Street Fighter 2's Guile, who has a special move by the same name that shares the same shape and spinning animation. May have been changed to avoid copyright, as even the later generations elongate the shape and removed the spinning animation to make it less obvious.

@@kevinr.9733 Your comment is a year old and I'm a little sorry, but designers have almost 0 say what happens with the mon as far as name, dex entry, and stats go -- they can make suggestions, but the teams are entirely separate. This is why Vikavolt LOOKS fast and its Dex entry SAYS its fast but its speed stat is ass
Honestly that Jirachi fact is really interesting, I think it'd be really cool to watch a big group of shiny hunters work together to uncover to break down the odds and uncover this shiny.
There's definitely a good amount of dedicated hunters that would probably try this a few times so if enough people did it the odds could definitely get better not individually but as a whole. But it's still obviously not guaranteed but seeing a group experiment like that in this community would be so fucking cool imo
As a new shiny hunter I’m definitely down
Man I love this series. I'm so tired of all the "hey did you know that you can cut gra-" yes I did. Most interesting part for me though is to see the details, small differences in other versions and so on. Keep up the great work!
The Diglett continuity must be maintained, as it was written in the Poketexts of old.
except in teh show brock picks up dugtrio and we see the mound around the pokemon is just attached
For wishmaker jirachi, you can actually corrupt your save data at a specific point in a new save file and be able to simply load a prior save due to the corruption from before obtaining the jirachi. this is an oversimplification of how it works, but I imagine that something similar could be thought out for pokemon channel jirachi. that would make hunting it much easier.
the shiny jirachi thing is WILD, i really hope someone achieves it someday because i would love to see that
For the level of content that you produce, I'm surprised you haven't hit 100k subs yet, as long as you keep up the quality, I am a firm believer that you'll hit 1 mil in no time
I’ve never in my life seen a more perfectly placed sponsor, and for that, my friend, you receive a subscription.
You're missing the point. It's gotta be that jirachi specifically
@@jonsnow4005note the last sentence, he notes that it isn't as arduous as using Pokemon channel for a shiny jirachi is
@@a_wazza yeah, note that he is also implying it's the same jirachi, which it isn't.
"Please don't be mad, I need to pay my bills."
LMAO Can't be mad at a transition like that
Man i cant get enough of this obscure stuff.
Well done
that shiny jirachi might be my favorite fact so far. i hope one day someone finds it!
At 4:30 he mentions that the shell doesn't have a left eye, when it clearly does have a left eye.
"Please dont be mad I have to pay bills" is hilarious.
New speedrun category : Shiny Jirachi %
Here is a crazy fact most don't remember or Know
-Noahs Ark is Canon in the pokemon anime!
In the first season, Brock tells ash to remember what noah did by sending a bird to find dry land
Ash says: YES lets BE LIKE NOAH! - episode is the SS anne.
With the colosseum bonus disk in North America you dont have to beat ruby or sapphire to get jirachi. You just need the pokedex. Not sure if this one was properly shiny locked though.
Nah it’s not shiny locked, but still a ridiculously long hunt.
@@Smfsableye luckily it can be lowered to ~1-2 minutes per encounter using save file corruption
@@Tlaloc1 Cool!
@@Arcryoshi yeah I think this is all correct
If you try to shiny hunt the Pokemon Channel Jirachi and you average 1 encounter per day (literally a full time job), and assuming you have the worst luck in the world and need to go for the full 8192 tries, it'd take a little over 22 years...
For me in Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee when I battles my rival, he used a full restore. Then it said “You used a full restore.” Even though it was my rival.
"Region name" Diglett:
This Diglett subspecies is the only Diglett ever to show what is underneath the upturned earth, shovel-clawed paws help it dig through the earth, Nearly blind, This diglett's feelers help it navigate the tunnels and to find food.
Ok. You win the award for best sponsor transition ever. That was so unexpected yet so brilliant!
in Sword and Shield, if Diglett somehow uses a move like Sunsteel Strike, a small chunk of ground will leap with him
proof: Nintendo Unity's video "Can Diglett use moves that make it fly or jump in Pokémon Sword & Shield?"
Yeah, if I ever get around to hunting Jirachi I’m just gonna get the Colosseum Bonus Disc. Manaphy has taken long enough as is.
the only channel with real trivia
"Please don't be mad, I need to pay my bills" Lmao that one got me good. Great vid Phin!
Might wanna do some more research. You can still get jirachi on the bonus disc for Colosseum which is a lot simpler than the pokemon channel method. Also last time i check some people have already recorded some live jirachi’s this way.
I love this series! Always awesome to learn something new about the franchise I love!
8:20 I was not expecting to hear Sin and Punishment music here lol
And I wasn’t expecting Sonic Unleashed tunes. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
that jirachi cutscene is so sad :(
I loved the Diglett and Dugtrio facts lmao
Lol I loved that sponsor segway😂
The only record of Diglett jumping is if you manage to copycat a Move like Sunsteel strike and i love it so much
I believe that you missed one thing at least about diglett and dugtrio. You missed the detail about it when it uses supersonic skystrike the z move
There are a couple moves that Diglett can use that will make it come out of the ground. The mound of dirt just comes with it. So I guess it's not really a special animation exception its just a funny model
Yeah, people have had a lot of fun with copycat zoroark using movers that require rising up in the air
The fact that the rarest shiny Pokemon which can only be wished for is a jirachi the wish pokemon is kinda cool...XD
However this is a chance this just deletes your save file or the backup save is simply after you received jirachi so Idk if going for that would be worth it either way 😂
Well, so much for Jirachi being the rarest shiny in the world.
The things Pokémon Go does.
the research is actually really time consuming so I think it will still remain on the rarer side
One of the funniest parts of dugtrio being underground is when you use a flyium Z with dugtrio it legit takes up the ground to fly with it
7:00 another funny fact about this so if you get a Diglett or Dugtrio to use Sunsteel Strike, it’ll pull a whole mount of dirt out of underneath it to hide its body
Your research is insanely good, these videos always deliver!
Just wait for next weeks video it’s 100% gonna blow your mind!
@@BlueBoyPhin Good thing I’m already subbed! Looking forward to it dude
1:44 Best transition to a sponsor I have ever seen👌🏻 caught me off guard😂 and subscribed for that
love it when you make vids like this keep it up!
"Hi my name is Phin, and this is a weird obsession but it's entertaining and that's why your back for the seventh time"
That is the smoothest sponsor read I've ever seen🤟
I’ve heard some great setups for sponsors but I don’t think I’ll ever forget this one
That’s a lot of dedication
Welp looks like I'm shiny hunting jirachi
2 things, one is a compliment:
first: When you asked what was wrong with the map in Mahogany Town, I immediately saw the tree like a sore thumb. I love finding those errors so thanks for displaying it in the video
second: I really enjoyed the way you ended the video and how you went on about the rock XD
How many more of these videos are you going to be able to do? I thought you would have run out of such niche facts ages ago!
I got waaaaaay more brandon! were only getting started!
@@BlueBoyPhin tell us more rocks you can stand on pls
for the diglett fact, you should have included that a funny little “inconsistency” is when diglett follows you in HG/SS (and probably other games, you can go over bridges and let’s just say it is pretty illogical
huge fan of the glitches shown in this vid keep em comin pheeen 😎👍
Diglet canonically has feet due to a gag in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon when you save a diglet and have to fly it over a chasm. The screen just fades to black but diglet talks about how it felt so weird to have it’s feet dangling in the air.
It would take roughly 3.7 years to get a guaranteed shiny Jirachi, If anyone is willing enough to do that, I'd be 100% down to follow them throughout the whole journey
Love the content! I think the tree at 3:44 is cut off because the tower has an opening there, and the tree would block the view.
so obsecure
I mashed A so I've always seen and hated that line since 2005
Also to be precise, Castform holding mystic water is something you actually get in hoenn games - it's like part of the gift
I believe the tree in Mahogany Town is intentionally cropped so the hypothetical view from the watchtower isn't blocked.
That ending with the rock was just *mwah* chefs kiss with comedy to follow up on the Jarachi fact.
The commitment to the forbidden bottom half of diglett is inspiring. Why does the receptionist even let diglett compete in the jump tournament 😂
Props for the music you use: Deus Ex, Guille's Theme... They add a layer of mistery/epicness that those obscure useless facts shouldn't have, I love it
That sponsor transition actually got me, best way to slide it in.
Not me thinking “huh, I feel like I would have remembered seeing that book in the BDSP library during my play through” you really had me there sir
3:33 Tower engulfs the top of the tree, also hiding the tree behind only allowing the peak to show (vice versa). The tower's support beams are hidden in the foliage, logically tying together all of the missing parts.
01:48 best way to introduce a sponsor lol great video btw much love xoxo
Did you just use rivals of aether music at minute 3:00
I think I'm in love
Edit: damn he did it at 10:40 too. What a madman
I will never get tired of the dramatic, downright poetic, wording of the penultimate fact and then the last one being minute and trivial 😂😂
I'm not even mad at that smooth transition into your sponsor lol.
Shellder on the sprite is missing it's right eye, not it's left (sorry that was bugging me)
The last line made me laugh.
“You knew what you were getting into!”
It reminded me of my favourite line from Airplane!
LITERALLY one of my fav series on yt! keep it up!!!
12:17 jirachi looking at me with a black backround and dark music makes me thing that it’s judging my entire life
3:58 Might be a reference to Street Fighter 2's Guile, who has a special move by the same name that shares the same shape and spinning animation. May have been changed to avoid copyright, as even the later generations elongate the shape and removed the spinning animation to make it less obvious.
The other error in Mahogany town is having no PokéMart xD
