My first full-odds shiny ever in a Pokemon game was a shiny zubat on Pokemon Emerald in 2004. I'll never forget how confused I was when I saw a green version of Zubat. I legitimately thought something was _wrong_ with my game. Didn't help matters that I had also recently gotten PokeRus around that time and thought all of my Pokemon were going to die lol

I will never forget when I found a shiny Quagsire in Pokémon soul silver in the ruins of of alph, the problem was I didn’t had a single ball with me. I literally stayed 30 minutes looking at the screen in suffering knowing that I would not be able to capturing it, still breaks my heart to this day
My first shiny was a quagsire a long time ago, but I did catch it and it's still in my Pokemon Home :) Edit: Actually it was a Wooper, but it's a Quagsire now
Playing Legends Arceus brings back some good memories. Especially shiny hunting, just seeing them while roaming or hearing the chime and not knowing where the Pokémon is. I still freak out lol.
No matter how often you find shinies, how much of an avid hunter you are, seeing that sparkle- hearing that twinkle- you always pause to remember the moment. I’ve caught well over 100 shiny Pokémon at this point in the main series games, but my heart always skips a beat whenever one appears. Nothing in video games is quite like it.
Fun fact I completed the main storyline and also became 10 star rank on pokedex but I still didn't get a single shiny Well except for the shiny ponyta (rapidash now) but that was because of a request

Slugma when I was a young child ❤️ I was scared, not understanding what happened to my game. I threw my one ultra ball I had (my only ball) at full health.. and caught it!! I stared at it forever, wondering. Kids on my playground explained what it was and begged me to trade it to them. When I was like 7 I found a shiny gold caterpie in my copy of leaf green in the grass across nugget bridge. I killed it on accident because I had just reordered my Ivysaur’s moves and switched sleep powder with an attack. I still remember this vividly almost 20 years later. None of my friends believed me, it was before any of us knew shiny Pokémon were even a thing
I must admit, this video made me cry. I love this franchise so much! My first shiny was found on Mt coronet in the snowy bit. It was a Snover. This was like 15 years ago but I'll never forget sitting on the couch in the family room in front of the TV. it was early afternoon. I was trying to find spear pillar but I was lost. While wondering around i stumbled into a weird Snover. It's hands were blue and it had a weird sparkly animation. I had no idea what a shiny was at the time but I remember thinking "I have to catch this!". I only had 3 Ultra balls and it broke out of all of them. Since then I've spent thousand of hours looking for these sparkly monsters and I have over 1000 in my Pokémon home and a few hundred in Pogo. A few years back I retuned to Mt Coronet in hopes of finding my long lost snowman and was able to reunite with him. He was all grown up and put on some weight but sparkled just the same.
That was a beautiful story one of my more recent memories was I was hunting a shiny shinx while I had never hunted anything before in bdsp once I found my shiny I named it after my cat the week after my cat died and this is only way I keep him alive
I had a similar story. I found a shiny bellsprout in soulsilver and had run out of poke balls since I had just started the game. 10 years later I found a shiny bellsprout in Pokémon gold on the virtual console. I named it sparkles.
Back when I was young and had hope my first shiny was a Metapod in Gold I evolved into a Butterfree. I shiny hunted Caterpie in USUM just to have it again.
I also shiny hunted Tangela in Platinum because my first shiny was on my silver edition and my brother catched it for me. But someday, the battery died.

Bro my first shiny was a Marill too!!! Found it in the grass patch just before rustboro, behind the flower shop. It was on my VERY FIRST! Playthrough of Emerald, playing on my older brothers semi-broken GBA. I had just encountered and caught it and before i could save... the GBA somehow broke down. Losing the shiny Marill. In every monthly playthrough of Emerald i play nowadays i always spend the first hour trying to find that marill again. No luck, sadly enough.
My most recent shiny was a shiny azurill. I love Marill. I did evolve it into Azumarill though because the yellow is cute. I would have kept the Marill if it was also yellow, although the green looks fine, I just thought the water yellow Pikachu is just cuteee

Upon watching this video and getting emotional at the end, I booted up Pokemon GO, sitting next to my garden, only to have my first encounter of the day be a Shiny Hoppip. I came to this video expecting some basic thing to entertain myself and my god, I came out of it crying. My first shiny was a karrablast in bw2, route 11, when I saw the sparkles I jumped and screamed "shiny", scarIng some family members who were there, following that the people present became calling me shiny for the next 2 years. My second ever shiny was a shelmet in bw2 while grinding up my team cause clay was giving me trouble, luckily I realized what I was looking at and caught it. The first was an onix in heartgold's victory road on the way to the league.
I remember my first shiny was a Shiny Zubat on Emerald. That Pink Crobat ending the battle against Wallace is something I can still vividly remember to this day.

You've hit the nail on the head here. This goes beyond shinies as well.. The encounters that were so rare you'd end up giving up were exactly what made the pokémon games feel so alive. No matter how many hours you'd put into your game there was always more to be uncovered. The feeling i got when i finally found a honey tree Munchlax in Diamond will forever be ingraved in my memory. Used to look at Cynthias Spiritomb and Milotic and think those pokémon were so rare they were borderline unobtainable. Thats how it should feel. You are only rewarded with these cool Mons if youre willing yo put in some ridiculously hard work and the feeling you get when you finally achieve it will stay with you forever. Hate how much easier shiny hunting is now they've completely lost thier value..
i feel like this video really brings back the memories of what it's like to play pokémon as a kid. even if i did have access to the internet, it was still such a special experience and i can never forget what it was like the first time i played gen 4 and 5. my first ever shiny was a patrat in pokémon black, at some point after i beat the main game and was just walking around route 4. i may have screamed a little and my brother thought i saw a spider... but it was just a patrat :) even as my memory gets worse over time i'll never forget the memories i made playing pokémon.
You know that's crazy bc when I think about it, I think a shiny low level patrat was actually my first shiny in pokemon black as well. But the thing was that later that day I turned my game off without saving it and lost it forever LMAOOO.
I remember the first time i found that super rare island. I remember being like "oh what, i didnt know this island was here" i explored for a bit i caught a wynaut, then was like "i need more balls so i can see whats in the grass here" so i leave the island never to see it again despite much effort to find it. When I told my friends at school they laughed at me and made me think I dreamed it up. I thought I did for years.
So, Mirage Island was actually mind blowing for me as a kid. Not only did I have no idea about it prior, but rather I stumbled upon it on my way to find Rayquaza on my first playthrough of Emerald. Ever since then, I still haven't found it again, but I will always remember what a really life Lychee is because of the rare Liechi Berry I found that day. Also, other than the obvious Red Gyrados, I didn't see a shiny until Diamond where I stumbled upon a Geodude, and promptly named him Nugget.

I as well managed to get to Mirage Island on my First playtrough of Emerald on my way to catch Rayquaza, i was 6 years old at the time, then i found a shiny geodude in Pokémon diamond, It was in the cave After the route with budew, the encounters if i'm not wrong are psyduck, geodude, zubat and onix for that small Path of cave, catched It and named goldie

My first and only shiny I've ever found was a Rosalia in Platinum. I remember I was so surprised and excited. I had played through FIVE Pokemon games previously and had never seen one with my own eyes, other than a couple random ones my friends had. I still have that copy of Platinum, and I will cherish it forever.
I caught my first shiny when I was a freshmen in High School back in '11. It was a shiny Boldore in Pokemon White. The sheer joy I felt, imagine hearing something only in rumors, but then one day experiencing it first hand. I didn't knew that Boldore was a trade evolution so I trained it until it almost reached 100. Because of this, I thought shinys couldn't evolve. I lost the game a few years later, must've misplaced it since I stopped playing it after finishing the game. I wish I could find it again so I could see my Shiny Boldore one last time.
My first ever shiny Pokemon was a Ditto in Pokemon silver that was blue and I remember thinking it was the most insane exciting thing to get because that ditto could transform into every single other Pokemon and turn them completely blue, it was an incredible moment and I'll never forget it and this video is absolutely right that the rarity of Pokemon is at its core a life force for the series
My first ever shiny was a Carvanha I found in Emerald with the Super Rod in route 119 while looking for a Feebas. I had spent like two hours straight fishing like three times in every tile, only getting regular Carvanhas over and over, until I reeled in that sparkly, green and cyan Carvanha. It felt really special, like a small little prize to all the time I had spent fishing for the Feebas, and I successfully caught it. A few tiles later, I found Feebas that same afternoon, and returned to Pokemon Center to check both of my new special Pokemon that I had found, and nowadays, I have a Milotic and a purplish pink Sharpedo still in that same savefile

I still remember my first Shiny. Back when I was a kid, I didn't believe Shiny Pokemon actually existed until my brother showed me his Shiny Tentacruel, and I saw some of them on the anime like Red Gyarados or Ash's Noctowl being a bit different than the others. It wasn't until playing Pearl that I found a Shiny Bibarel. It was amazing how it had some sparkles around and seemed like a golden Bibarel instead of the regular brown one. I was so excited I called a classmate to brag about it! Then I found many other full odds shinies on Platinum (Shinx, Starly, Quagsire) and I was always looking for more. I still remember soft resetting for Cyndaquil and Lapras in Silver VC, or for Totodile in Heart Gold, and getting a Solosis when I was looking for a competitive one in Pokemon Black. Remember back in 2013 when XY launched? There were reports of "monochrome Pokemon" which ended up being regular Pokemon but with a texture error that made them look colorless. I feel that Gamefreak should bring them as an actual mechanic, but without following the Shiny rules (no increasing rate methods, not showing their forms on the Pokedex, not even mentioning them in-game outside of a rare NPC dialogue or something; not even distributing them in events) and having the original 1 in 8192 chance of appearing; or even a lower rate.
remember back in the day when ruby and sapphire came out one of my friends traded me a "ugly" tentacruel and i never knew about shiny pokemon but i kept it and then maybe about a year later i figured out what shiny pokemon was and linked both together lol
Will always remember finding a shiny tentacool in leaf green in one of the ice caves. It was such an amazing moment. Shinies are practically dead to me now due to hacking and just the lowered rarity but I’m glad I found one during the era where it really was special and unique
2006 Pokemon Emerald. I remember laying in my bed as a kid late one night messing around in the Safari zone, I came across a Sunkern that showed a little sparkle. I've never seen or heard of a shiny Pokemon before this point. I just remember that feeling of warmth that I just stumbled across something amazing. I sadly lost the game in a move but like you said, it's all about the memory. I will miss you CornBoy (It was female).
The shinies I've lost are so sad. The Platinum with my random shiny Ponyta that was sold by my parents behind my back, the three shinies from my Pearl Oak's Challenge recently lost to the game itself getting destroyed by a careless ex and some soda.😭 Pokémon is just as much a game of love as it is loss. It's just data, but if I lost any of my other games I'd be aching for a long time. RIP to Blazerpone, Goldirocks (1% Onix), Nugget, Meddatit, and CornBoy too.
I never got a shiny as a young child other than gift ones but I will always remember my beloved Chansey. I cry thinking about it because I loved Chansey so much because she has a cool egg move and was pink and really squishy looking. Lol. I evolved her into blissey much later. Then I set her free and I made a new account, I have an affinity for all Chanseys though, and my first Chansey is forever in my heart 💖 I still remember teaching her shockwave and thinking it was so cool 🤣 (pokemon diamond)
I'll always remember my first shiny as a bitter memory. It was when I was like 10y/o, playing Pokémon Platinum. I've been never interested in "catching them all" so when I had my full team with my 6 favourite pokemon I'd stop buying pokéballs. One day, while I was running around for whatever reason I passed through the Mount Coronet passage between Oreburgh City and Hearthome City. And then it appeared, a brown machop. I didn't know what shinies were at that time but I knew for sure machops weren't brown and that that one was special (also because of the stars animation). I quickly looked through my bag... x2 Pokeball. I had my party full of +50 lvl pokémon with all damaging moves (I was 10 :c) so I would oneshot that lvl 15 Machop with anything. I threw my first Pokeball, he got out, and then my second one, same. At that point I had to choose whether to flee and say goodbye to that Machop or Flare Blitz the shit out of him. At that point I really don't remember what happened, probably because I was having a hard time handling my emotions. I just wish him the best and hope he's happy in Mount Coronet. :(
My first is also not a happy story. I WAS trying to catch everything in pokemon gold. I was hunting down all the forms of Unknown. If it wasn't a letter I was missing, I ran away. I was in a groove and almost had all of them when I mechanically ran away from yet another letter T and only as I was successfully fleeing it registered in my brain that it was a weird color
My first shiny was a shiny arbok I found in victory road in my first playthrough of fire Red I looked all over the internet I saw some thumbnails and titles saying catching this shiny Pokemon I was too dumb to understand what they were talking about sadly that savefile is now gone (i actually caught it and used it in elite four because I thought it's something special it is but only because it's rare not that it's strong)

I’ll never forget when my cousin found a shiny drowzee in Pokémon silver back when we were kids. At first we thought there was a problem with his game pallet as the color pallets used to switch back in red and blue. But after doing the duplication glitch and sending drowzee over to my gold version the color remained. It was such crazy cool feeling when we later found out it was a shiny. Damn, this video was an insane nostalgia rush. I feel so overwhelmed by how relatable everyone's experiences and emotions are when encountering their first shiny. I recall catching my first shiny like it was yesterday. I was about 13 and I launched my Nintendo DS first thing at the break of dawn whilst everyone was knocked out. I was trying to find a Pikachu at the back of the Pokemon Mansion for my team. I would run in that patch of grass for hours just figuring out all the possible Pokemon's I could encounter. However, one Pokemon didn't look different but the sparkling animation and audio had me very confused. I'd never heard of a shiny Pokemon nor was I aware I had found one. I paused, debated, and hesitated on whether I should knock it out. Thankfully, I caught it and left it idle in my Box. Until one day I traded it to a friend for an Action Replay Arceus and Mewtwo. In hindsight, I am gutted. However, after reliving those memories I've began a shiny playthrough on Brilliant Diamond and Legends Arceus. Legends Arceus doesn't have the same novelty as a full odd 1/4098 but it's still a great feeling. I am proud to say that I have encountered a full odd Shiny Spiritomb on BDSP. First shiny was a Zubat in Sapphire. Most recent one was a full-odds accidental Golduck in Scarlet, which itself was only days after finding a shiny Mudbray entirely by accident in the same playthrough after a shiny drought of years. Something about shinies makes them so incredibly memorable and precious
I had a Diamond and Pearl strategy guide when I was younger that displayed a shiny Golbat, and I remember flipping to that page so many times just to admire it. When Black and White came out, I got my first shiny. It was early autumn morning on the school bus, probably a Monday since my birthday usually falls on a Friday, so I was playing pretty consistently for the weekend and I came across *the* first shiny, a shiny Purloin. I remember being so scared to lose it that I almost cried, but I caught it first try, and it stayed with me the entire game. That cart is now lost, along with the DS I played it on, but I won't forget that Purloin, and no matter how many more shiny Purloin I catch, they won't be her.

this is one of the best videos I've seen about Pokemon, truly captures the essence of being a kid and discovering a whole new world inside a cartridge. I do remember the first shiny I found, in my first run of Platinum, back when the game released, just short of the waterfall to victory road, its really something I'll never forget. Going even deeper, I remember no one believed me when I told them I saw a npc climbing Mt. Chimney, way back when I was in like, 3rd grade. It was only 2 or 3 years ago that I discovered I was, in fact, not crazy. Pokemon is the best.
My first full odds shiny was a Scatterbug in Y version, on route 2 right before Santalune forest. I thought it was a special reward for becoming Champion as I had just beaten the game. It's long gone now, but I will never forget it. It was shortly after the game came out so somewhere around december 2013.

I will never forget my first shiny. In Greece we called them Golden Pokémon (Χρυσά Πόκεμον). I had just finished with Blackthorn City and was climbing down the Route 46. Then suddenly a Shiny Gligar appeared. It's been so many years since then. But I will never forget my first "Golden" Pokémon.
That's fun to know...I was playing Pokemon from a young age but I'm from a small town...so my first real experience with the community was way later in life, when I already knew shiny pokemon by name and.....so i never had the "oh we called them x" moment. Till this day, all Greek fans I interact with just say "βρήκα ένα σάινι"... Hope your Gligar is still alive and well.
My first shiny was a Gligar too! I was just wondering around on Legends Arceus looking for any pokemon I hadn't caught yet and I just randomly saw a little sparkle and realized it was a shiny. I was able to catch him thankfully and he remains as the only shiny I've legitimately caught in my many years of pokemon (Besides the free shiny Ponyta they give you in Legends Arceus).

I love the way you present your videos, shiny Pokémon mean so much to a lot of people and in your intro of this video you did an excellent job of showcasing that, I got goosebumps when you played your reaction and other creators reactions to finding shiny Pokémon. I reacted the exact same way today when I caught my all time favorite shiny Pokémon, hisuian Growlith in arceus! I love being able to relate to that feeling with other Pokémon enthusiast.
I still remember my first shiny. I didn’t grow up with Pokémon and only recently started to properly play it these last few months. While playing heart gold and heading towards a patch of grass outside the safari zone, I had to go through some water first. I found a shiny tentacool, my first ever shiny and a nice one at that. I got so excited at finding my first shiny that I shouted so loud everyone in my house heard me, including my brother who I dragged into Pokémon and quietly said ‘they’ve found a shiny.’ But I accidentally one shot it with my main and never found another shiny (ignoring the garadose in the lake) despite having 60 hours on my save and grinding a ton (I’m currently working on a living dex). I know the shiny odds are gunna be high in this game since I don’t have any item to help me and they hadn’t been lowered permanently yet but you’d think I’d find another shiny after playing for about 30 hours

This video made me feel so emotional. My first shiny was a shiny zubat in the Lost Tower back in Pokemon Pearl. It was the first game I ever played, I was 8 years old. I had no idea what a shiny was, but I was so intrigued by the fact that it was green and I caught it. After talking with friends I realized it was a shiny and it was incredibly rare. I was so excited. No one else I knew had a shiny and it felt so special. My nephew who was a few years younger than me found his first shiny a few months later in pokemon ruby, a shiny Taillow. I saw him encounter it and freaked out telling him how rare it was. He lit up and got so excited. Now him and I shiny hunt in scarlet and violet together all the time, and I swear we get 1-5 new shinies a day. However, no matter what the shiny we obtain is, it'll never compare to the feelings we got when we got those full odds Zubat and Taillow back when we were kids.
A spearow in the sevi islands. Near the unkown door that needed cut. I had my eyes closed as i was tired, and then i heard the sparkle. Lost my game sadly but oddly enough i was playing a heartgold run and to my surprise I found another one! Prehaps it was fate by the poke gods I get to see an old friend once again.
A shiny Caterpie that I found back in 2009 playing heart gold. I named it Goldie, and had absolutely no idea what a shiny was, but that Butterfree became my best friend... You’re absolutely right. I remember my first shiny like it was yesterday, playing my fave game Sapphire. I didn’t even know what shiny Pokémon were then, I just knew that this Roselia I found on route 117 was different than the rest and I had to catch it! I spent forever comparing it to my normal one in the PC. This video captures exactly that, the feeling of something special that makes you feel like the only player in the world for just a moment.
You're absolutely right, what a cool shared experience we all have! My first was a golden Geodude in LeafGreen, I was so lucky to have caught it without it self destructing (I didn't even think about it in the moment either)!
My first shiny experience was in pokemon diamond, I encountered a shiny hoot hoot, and it blew my mind, I didn’t even know shiny Pokémon existed, sadly I accidentally fainted it with a critical hit, but that experience has stayed in my mind as one of my personal most mind blowing gaming moments.
Hoo boy, my first shiny Pokémon was complicated. I didn’t like the fact that my first shiny ever caught was a Roselia on a GBA emulator of Ruby. I started playing Pokémon during the X/Y days, so that’s why I was using an emulator for the older games. But anyways, I never got a shiny from X/Y, S/M, US/UM, or SW/SH. After playing Ruby on the emulator and encountering a shiny Roselia, I thought to myself “I should probably make this my first official shiny in a Pokémon game that I actually own.” So after 1262 eggs in SW/SH, it officially became my first shiny. And the fact that Budew was the first shiny I found in Legends Arceus just makes this story even more memorable to me. Having another shiny Roselia/Roserade as my first shiny in a game just confirmed how important this shiny Pokémon is to me.
I remember on X and Y launch day I was looking for flabebe for my team. It was right after the first game, I had barely owned the game for 2 hours (counting travel from store to home) and it had been out for less than 24. I found kept finding budew and my brain like Budew 1: oh cool budew *runs Budew 2: another budew... *runs Budew 3: oh ffs just give me flabebe *runs Budew 4: ...um....wait...did they all have a purple collar? *catches is. Needless to say I completely forgot about hunting Flabebe.
You are absolutely correct. Not only do I remember exactly where I was, and which Pokemon was the very first shiny that I saw (Pokemon silver version, fishing near midnight by the daycare center caught a shiny Krabby). But I also remember vividly spending hours looking for a fabled golden Ekans that my buddy swore he saw on a certain route.
My first shiny that I remember at least was a shiny Cubchoo in White. I was riding the bus to the mall. I could literally show you the exact spot in the street when it happened. It's why Cubchoo has a spot in my heart.
I think another thing that makes Pokémon special versus other games is that even if you encounter a shiny Pokémon, it does not guarantee you will catch it! The excitement of finding a shiny is mixed with anxiety, like “I just found one of the rarest things in Pokémon and what if I kill it and miss this rare opportunity?!” (unless you have false swipe haha). You either have the forever joy of catching it, or forever dread of killing it.
I will never forget going to fight red in soul silver and finding a random shiny larvitar. Then while leveling it up to use against red for less than an hour I got pokerus. I was on the phone with my friend and we were both just absolutely baffled. My prize mon.
I remember my most recent shiny was a Gligar in Legends Arceus by outbreak. When I saw the thing I went dead silent until it stayed in the ball! I distinctly remember wanting any shiny and unloading/Reloading environments until an outbreak appeared; I just got lucky with the Gligar. As for my first shiny ever, counting Go it was Scyther (Yes, I was lucky enough for my first ever random shiny to be a freaking scyther. Im a bug type fan so this was awesome) but In the main series it was Trapinch, by masuda method. The guy (named Ace) was hatched while watching a video on shiny Pokémon, I think it was ADrive, In my old dining room. I still have them; They’re a lvl 100 full EV shiny Flygon with Pokerus now. I got the dang thing in like 9 eggs!
My first shiny was actually fairly recent. I didnt have access to the older games so it was a shiny Skiddo on Violet. Though it's not as rare as the old ones, it's still really important to me.
In all my time playing Pokémon, from Silver to White 2, I still remember catching that shiny Fearow on the slopes of Stark Mountain and that shiny Clefairy in the Giant Chasm. Memorable moments indeed!
When I was in highschool I used to take my old GBC with Pokémon gold with me anywhere I went because I was completing the national Dex. One day, on the bus back home I was roaming in tall grass and found a Shiny Ursaring. I couldn't believe it. Caught her and had her with me until the battery on that cartridge finally died. Shiny Magikarp, about 8 years old and in the car with my family going south for our holiday. Still remember seeing that golden fish popping up out of nowhere. I remember saving the game ( fortunately) before evolving it to learn it turns into a red gyrados. so kept it as the golden carp, still got it to this day! (18 years on)

And yes, I too remember my "first" shiny Pokémon too: a Gastly in the Old Chateau. However, back then, I didn't even know what shiny Pokémons were so I just runned away lmao. But I still remember it! Yo that ending gave me chills. I definitely remember my first shiny. It was the ice cream cone in pokemon black. I was hype for my first legit shiny. I evolved it and it barely had a color change and I felt regret, but I still remember that moment 14 years later. And I have a bad memory lol

The first Pokémon I ever caught was a shiny geodude in Pokémon crystal. I ended up losing it soon after, as I was playing on an emulator and the tab got closed (I didn’t have a proper console yet) but I always remembered it, and literally the same day as I’m typing this was actually the day that I found it again on the DS version of Pokémon crystal! I’ll finally be able to evolve it into the golem that it was always supposed to be
I remember being heartbroken as I was grinding and the first shiny I discovered I didn't notice was shiny until AFTER I clicked to attack it. And it dropped. The first shiny I caught was a Whimsur in Ruby. ...As was the second. In a different playthrough. And I was taunted in a later gen with the third shiny I caught being... Loudred. (Not counting the story Gyarados of course.) The past few months I've been playing a lot of pokemon. And in all the time, I hadn't seen a single shiny, until Arceus, where I've since caught two (again, not counting the side quest one). I even tried to shiny hunt in Let's Go for HOURS, without luck. This video's pretty spot on. Mind you, I'm not unhappy that it's 'easier' in Arceus. And I've never gone full on shiny hunting - other than the failed Let's Go attempt. But I appreacate that there are ways to, for those that dedicate themselves to the task.
My first shiny was a hoothoot in the grass just below ecruteak city on route 37 in soul silver. I remember it so clearly, I was 11 or so and was at my best friends place for a sleepover and we were just playing around for ages on our ds's and then it suddenly happened, I didn't even know what it was at the time but my friends reaction was something I never forgot. That's when I learned what shinies were, and that's when my story became unique. I will never forget it.
I completely agree with this. I’m 2013 I changed the battery on my Pokémon Gold and had a play through where I encountered Pokérus. The moment is burnt into my memory. It was awesome! I will forever remember that team and that play through because of that rarity

Here is the thing about Pokemon developer haven't fully expanded on yet, unique variation are important. Let say in the electric plant in most Pokemon what if there was a 1/500 Pikachu sprite where he holds onto something conductive, or in a cave, a digglet with one arm aticking out of the ground, and inherently has vine whip which would make him very storng inna cave.. a two headed charizard with lower speed. Def and a significantly higher sp. Attack. Then the unique shiny would be that much more interesting along with the set of spirit u e acquired.
The first one I caught was an audino I found in 7th grade before school. Unfortunately I lost the cart it was on and I still think about her to this day. Maybe someday I'll find her again on a new adventure?
My first shiny was a Staravia in Diamond. I couldn’t believe it. I almost dropped my DS because I was jumping in disbelief. It truly was a magical moment that sticks with me. I’m so thankful I still have it all these years later.
0:42 I might as well answer this too. My first ever shiny Pokémon was in Pokémon X and Y. It was a female Venipede on Palais Lane, or route 6. I was just walking down the path and I accidentally walked past one of the bushes Pokémon jump out at you from. I absolutely freaked out when I found this thing. It was late at night at the time and I was asked to quiet down. As you can see, I remember that night very clearly. I still cherish the Scolipede, now named Unox (Uno for being my first shiny and X being the game I caught her in.)
Back when I was 7 I had a DS and a broken GBA cartridge of pokemon fire red. When I would get to the point of boarding the SS Anne the game would crash and wipe all my data, keep in mind that to progress through the game you needed to board the SS Anne. So, I was young and easy to please and just carried on playing through to the game many times to see if it would fix. I eventually got a shiny Pidgey as one my first encounters. Still so memorable to this day because I had to ask my Dad to tell me what it was.
I’ll never forget playing OG ruby for the first time. My starter was treeko and in the first Forest I found a red shroomish! It was my very first and only completely random complete accidental shiny find. I’ll remember it for ever. I didn’t even know shinies were a thing tell that day. I remember showing all my friends and cousins! They were all hyped with me.
I was just starting elementary, and my dad had let me borrow his old Special Pikachu Edition for the car ride to the airport. Had no idea what a shiny, or Pokémon, even was at the time. Just took one look at the Shiny Spearow that’d popped out of the grass, and fell in love with its golden feathers…Can’t remember the nickname I gave it though. 😅 Been a little over two decades since then. Not sure if I even still have the Save File.
i actually found my first shiny at a high school football game! surrounded by other geeky band kids my freshman year, i was playing a leaf green emulator on my phone and i found a shiny vulpix. i knew it was special, even with my limited pokemon knowledge at the time, and my friends helped me catch it so we made sure we wouldn’t loose him. named him pixel, that rom file is long gone but i miss him :(

I don’t remember my first shiny I caught, but I remember the first shiny I stumbled across. A shiny Spinda before ever knowing what a shiny was, before ever seeing a Spinda, and thinking the sparkles had to do with the ash from the tall grass. What I do remember is hatching a shiny Deino and finding a wild shiny Druddigon on the same day which blew my little mind.
I got a shiny Zubat when I was a kid, but my sibling accidentally deleted my account on my DS, but when I got BDSP, on my third day of playing, BOOM! SHINY ZUBAT! It came back

My first shiny encounter was a shiny Tentacool more than 20 years ago on Pokémon Silver. I went to see if I could Surf on the little pond inside the Day Care Center in Goldenrod, the moment I started surfing on the pound that Tentacool with blue blobs instead of red ones appeared. I thought there was something wrong with my Gameboy, so I turned it off. Spent months surfing on that same little pond to see if I could see the shiny Tentacool again, but it never appeared.
I remember when I first played lets go eevee that I knew shiny hunting was going to be easy and while I barely had the game running for less than 30 minutes a full odd (1/4096) shiny rattata spawned and I completely lost it. That and my random encounter with a shiny magikarp in sun and moon were the best core moments of this game
I personally can’t remember my first shiny, because I was introduced to them when I started playing Pokémon, and have been hunting since then. That being said my most memorable shiny was probably in the middle of a playthrough with my friend in Omega Ruby. I had a Vulpix egg for some reason, hatched it, and it was shiny. That’s probably why that line is one of my favorites to this day

I’d loved Pokémon since when black and white first came out but never had enough money to get my own game until my parents bought me one in 2016, right before I turned 10. I became a Pokémon trainer.

My first full-odds shiny ever in a Pokemon game was a shiny zubat on Pokemon Emerald in 2004. I'll never forget how confused I was when I saw a green version of Zubat. I legitimately thought something was _wrong_ with my game. Didn't help matters that I had also recently gotten PokeRus around that time and thought all of my Pokemon were going to die lol

Playing Legends Arceus brings back some good memories. Especially shiny hunting, just seeing them while roaming or hearing the chime and not knowing where the Pokémon is. I still freak out lol.
No matter how often you find shinies, how much of an avid hunter you are, seeing that sparkle- hearing that twinkle- you always pause to remember the moment. I’ve caught well over 100 shiny Pokémon at this point in the main series games, but my heart always skips a beat whenever one appears. Nothing in video games is quite like it.

Slugma when I was a young child ❤️ I was scared, not understanding what happened to my game. I threw my one ultra ball I had (my only ball) at full health.. and caught it!! I stared at it forever, wondering. Kids on my playground explained what it was and begged me to trade it to them. I still have it as shiny macargo and it will always have a special place in my heart ❤️

If you still have it (stored on Stadium 2 for example) you can send it over to a GSC card with a new battery, then transfer it to VC, then into home.

When I was like 7 I found a shiny gold caterpie in my copy of leaf green in the grass across nugget bridge. I killed it on accident because I had just reordered my Ivysaur’s moves and switched sleep powder with an attack. I still remember this vividly almost 20 years later. None of my friends believed me, it was before any of us knew shiny Pokémon were even a thing

My first shiny was found on Mt coronet in the snowy bit. It was a Snover. This was like 15 years ago but I'll never forget sitting on the couch in the family room in front of the TV. it was early afternoon. I was trying to find spear pillar but I was lost. While wondering around i stumbled into a weird Snover. It's hands were blue and it had a weird sparkly animation. I had no idea what a shiny was at the time but I remember thinking "I have to catch this!". I only had 3 Ultra balls and it broke out of all of them. Since then I've spent thousand of hours looking for these sparkly monsters and I have over 1000 in my Pokémon home and a few hundred in Pogo.
A few years back I retuned to Mt Coronet in hopes of finding my long lost snowman and was able to reunite with him. He was all grown up and put on some weight but sparkled just the same.

I had a similar story. I found a shiny bellsprout in soulsilver and had run out of poke balls since I had just started the game. 10 years later I found a shiny bellsprout in Pokémon gold on the virtual console. I named it sparkles.
Back when I was young and had hope my first shiny was a Metapod in Gold I evolved into a Butterfree. I shiny hunted Caterpie in USUM just to have it again.
Caterpie was my first shiny in Gold as well. I found it while trying to find a Pineco.

It was in the pond near the Winstrate family, I was in the hospital recovering at the time from an appendicitis, and as physically weak as I was, I remember how excited and energetic it made me feel. It was on my VERY FIRST! Playthrough of Emerald, playing on my older brothers semi-broken GBA. I had just encountered and caught it and before i could save... the GBA somehow broke down. Losing the shiny Marill.

My most recent shiny was a shiny azurill. I love Marill. I did evolve it into Azumarill though because the yellow is cute. I would have kept the Marill if it was also yellow, although the green looks fine, I just thought the water yellow Pikachu is just cuteee

Upon watching this video and getting emotional at the end, I booted up Pokemon GO, sitting next to my garden, only to have my first encounter of the day be a Shiny Hoppip. I cherished every second of it, grateful for you to bring back the importance of rarities to me. Thank you.

My first shiny was a karrablast in bw2, route 11, when I saw the sparkles I jumped and screamed "shiny", scarIng some family members who were there, following that the people present became calling me shiny for the next 2 years.

The encounters that were so rare you'd end up giving up were exactly what made the pokémon games feel so alive. No matter how many hours you'd put into your game there was always more to be uncovered.
The feeling i got when i finally found a honey tree Munchlax in Diamond will forever be ingraved in my memory. Used to look at Cynthias Spiritomb and Milotic and think those pokémon were so rare they were borderline unobtainable. Thats how it should feel. You are only rewarded with these cool Mons if youre willing yo put in some ridiculously hard work and the feeling you get when you finally achieve it will stay with you forever.
Hate how much easier shiny hunting is now they've completely lost thier value..
i feel like this video really brings back the memories of what it's like to play pokémon as a kid. even if i did have access to the internet, it was still such a special experience and i can never forget what it was like the first time i played gen 4 and 5. my first ever shiny was a patrat in pokémon black, at some point after i beat the main game and was just walking around route 4. i may have screamed a little and my brother thought i saw a spider... but it was just a patrat :) even as my memory gets worse over time i'll never forget the memories i made playing pokémon.
You know that's crazy bc when I think about it, I think a shiny low level patrat was actually my first shiny in pokemon black as well. But the thing was that later that day I turned my game off without saving it and lost it forever LMAOOO.

I remember the first time i found that super rare island. I remember being like "oh what, i didnt know this island was here" i explored for a bit i caught a wynaut, then was like "i need more balls so i can see whats in the grass here" so i leave the island never to see it again despite much effort to find it. When I told my friends at school they laughed at me and made me think I dreamed it up. I thought I did for years.
So, Mirage Island was actually mind blowing for me as a kid. Not only did I have no idea about it prior, but rather I stumbled upon it on my way to find Rayquaza on my first playthrough of Emerald.
Ever since then, I still haven't found it again, but I will always remember what a really life Lychee is because of the rare Liechi Berry I found that day.

I as well managed to get to Mirage Island on my First playtrough of Emerald on my way to catch Rayquaza, i was 6 years old at the time, then i found a shiny geodude in Pokémon diamond, It was in the cave After the route with budew, the encounters if i'm not wrong are psyduck, geodude, zubat and onix for that small Path of cave, catched It and named goldie
@Nicolas Turetta That's funny, I'm pretty sure that I caught my shiny at Oreburgh Gate, and the area you are describing sounds like it's might be Oreburgh Mine due to the mention of Onix, though, it could have been the same location as mine due to the Psyducks.

My first and only shiny I've ever found was a Rosalia in Platinum. I remember I was so surprised and excited. I had played through FIVE Pokemon games previously and had never seen one with my own eyes, other than a couple random ones my friends had. I still have that copy of Platinum, and I will cherish it forever.
I caught my first shiny when I was a freshmen in High School back in '11. It was a shiny Boldore in Pokemon White. The sheer joy I felt, imagine hearing something only in rumors, but then one day experiencing it first hand. I didn't knew that Boldore was a trade evolution so I trained it until it almost reached 100. Because of this, I thought shinys couldn't evolve. I lost the game a few years later, must've misplaced it since I stopped playing it after finishing the game. I wish I could find it again so I could see my Shiny Boldore one last time.

My first ever shiny Pokemon was a Ditto in Pokemon silver that was blue and I remember thinking it was the most insane exciting thing to get because that ditto could transform into every single other Pokemon and turn them completely blue, it was an incredible moment and I'll never forget it and this video is absolutely right that the rarity of Pokemon is at its core a life force for the series
My first ever shiny was a Carvanha I found in Emerald with the Super Rod in route 119 while looking for a Feebas. I had spent like two hours straight fishing like three times in every tile, only getting regular Carvanhas over and over, until I reeled in that sparkly, green and cyan Carvanha. It felt really special, like a small little prize to all the time I had spent fishing for the Feebas, and I successfully caught it. A few tiles later, I found Feebas that same afternoon, and returned to Pokemon Center to check both of my new special Pokemon that I had found, and nowadays, I have a Milotic and a purplish pink Sharpedo still in that same savefile

I still remember my first Shiny. Back when I was a kid, I didn't believe Shiny Pokemon actually existed until my brother showed me his Shiny Tentacruel, and I saw some of them on the anime like Red Gyarados or Ash's Noctowl being a bit different than the others. It wasn't until playing Pearl that I found a Shiny Bibarel. It was amazing how it had some sparkles around and seemed like a golden Bibarel instead of the regular brown one. I was so excited I called a classmate to brag about it! Then I found many other full odds shinies on Platinum (Shinx, Starly, Quagsire) and I was always looking for more. I still remember soft resetting for Cyndaquil and Lapras in Silver VC, or for Totodile in Heart Gold, and getting a Solosis when I was looking for a competitive one in Pokemon Black.
Remember back in 2013 when XY launched? There were reports of "monochrome Pokemon" which ended up being regular Pokemon but with a texture error that made them look colorless. I feel that Gamefreak should bring them as an actual mechanic, but without following the Shiny rules (no increasing rate methods, not showing their forms on the Pokedex, not even mentioning them in-game outside of a rare NPC dialogue or something; not even distributing them in events) and having the original 1 in 8192 chance of appearing; or even a lower rate.

remember back in the day when ruby and sapphire came out one of my friends traded me a "ugly" tentacruel and i never knew about shiny pokemon but i kept it and then maybe about a year later i figured out what shiny pokemon was and linked both together lol

2006 Pokemon Emerald. I remember laying in my bed as a kid late one night messing around in the Safari zone, I came across a Sunkern that showed a little sparkle. I've never seen or heard of a shiny Pokemon before this point. I just remember that feeling of warmth that I just stumbled across something amazing. I sadly lost the game in a move but like you said, it's all about the memory. I will miss you CornBoy (It was female).
The shinies I've lost are so sad. The Platinum with my random shiny Ponyta that was sold by my parents behind my back, the three shinies from my Pearl Oak's Challenge recently lost to the game itself getting destroyed by a careless ex and some soda.😭 Pokémon is just as much a game of love as it is loss. It's just data, but if I lost any of my other games I'd be aching for a long time. RIP to Blazerpone, Goldirocks (1% Onix), Nugget, Meddatit, and CornBoy too.

I never got a shiny as a young child other than gift ones but I will always remember my beloved Chansey. I cry thinking about it because I loved Chansey so much because she has a cool egg move and was pink and really squishy looking. Lol. I evolved her into blissey much later. Then I set her free and I made a new account, I have an affinity for all Chanseys though, and my first Chansey is forever in my heart 💖 I still remember teaching her shockwave and thinking it was so cool 🤣 (pokemon diamond)
I'll always remember my first shiny as a bitter memory. It was when I was like 10y/o, playing Pokémon Platinum. I've been never interested in "catching them all" so when I had my full team with my 6 favourite pokemon I'd stop buying pokéballs. One day, while I was running around for whatever reason I passed through the Mount Coronet passage between Oreburgh City and Hearthome City. And then it appeared, a brown machop. I didn't know what shinies were at that time but I knew for sure machops weren't brown and that that one was special (also because of the stars animation). I quickly looked through my bag... x2 Pokeball. I had my party full of +50 lvl pokémon with all damaging moves (I was 10 :c) so I would oneshot that lvl 15 Machop with anything. I threw my first Pokeball, he got out, and then my second one, same. At that point I had to choose whether to flee and say goodbye to that Machop or Flare Blitz the shit out of him. At that point I really don't remember what happened, probably because I was having a hard time handling my emotions. I just wish him the best and hope he's happy in Mount Coronet. :(
My first is also not a happy story. I WAS trying to catch everything in pokemon gold. I was hunting down all the forms of Unknown. If it wasn't a letter I was missing, I ran away. I was in a groove and almost had all of them when I mechanically ran away from yet another letter T and only as I was successfully fleeing it registered in my brain that it was a weird color

My first shiny was a shiny arbok I found in victory road in my first playthrough of fire Red I looked all over the internet I saw some thumbnails and titles saying catching this shiny Pokemon I was too dumb to understand what they were talking about sadly that savefile is now gone (i actually caught it and used it in elite four because I thought it's something special it is but only because it's rare not that it's strong)
I remember my first shiny. It was golbat in ruby, and unlike most people, i knew it was shiny. I had prior knowledge and i had no reason to suspect my game was glitched.
I’ll never forget when my cousin found a shiny drowzee in Pokémon silver back when we were kids. At first we thought there was a problem with his game pallet as the color pallets used to switch back in red and blue. But after doing the duplication glitch and sending drowzee over to my gold version the color remained. It was such crazy cool feeling when we later found out it was a shiny. Definitely a moment I’ll never forget

Damn, this video was an insane nostalgia rush. I feel so overwhelmed by how relatable everyone's experiences and emotions are when encountering their first shiny. I recall catching my first shiny like it was yesterday. I was about 13 and I launched my Nintendo DS first thing at the break of dawn whilst everyone was knocked out. I was trying to find a Pikachu at the back of the Pokemon Mansion for my team. I would run in that patch of grass for hours just figuring out all the possible Pokemon's I could encounter. However, one Pokemon didn't look different but the sparkling animation and audio had me very confused. I'd never heard of a shiny Pokemon nor was I aware I had found one. I paused, debated, and hesitated on whether I should knock it out. Thankfully, I caught it and left it idle in my Box. Until one day I traded it to a friend for an Action Replay Arceus and Mewtwo. In hindsight, I am gutted. However, after reliving those memories I've began a shiny playthrough on Brilliant Diamond and Legends Arceus. Legends Arceus doesn't have the same novelty as a full odd 1/4098 but it's still a great feeling. I am proud to say that I have encountered a full odd Shiny Spiritomb on BDSP. Most recent one was a full-odds accidental Golduck in Scarlet, which itself was only days after finding a shiny Mudbray entirely by accident in the same playthrough after a shiny drought of years.

I had a Diamond and Pearl strategy guide when I was younger that displayed a shiny Golbat, and I remember flipping to that page so many times just to admire it. When Black and White came out, I got my first shiny. It was early autumn morning on the school bus, probably a Monday since my birthday usually falls on a Friday, so I was playing pretty consistently for the weekend and I came across *the* first shiny, a shiny Purloin. I remember being so scared to lose it that I almost cried, but I caught it first try, and it stayed with me the entire game.
That cart is now lost, along with the DS I played it on, but I won't forget that Purloin, and no matter how many more shiny Purloin I catch, they won't be her.
This video made me feel very happy and proud of my first shiny. Thank you for expressing what I could not put into words that magical moment I had only just 3 years ago.
this is one of the best videos I've seen about Pokemon, truly captures the essence of being a kid and discovering a whole new world inside a cartridge. I do remember the first shiny I found, in my first run of Platinum, back when the game released, just short of the waterfall to victory road, its really something I'll never forget. Going even deeper, I remember no one believed me when I told them I saw a npc climbing Mt. Chimney, way back when I was in like, 3rd grade. It was only 2 or 3 years ago that I discovered I was, in fact, not crazy. Pokemon is the best.
My first full odds shiny was a Scatterbug in Y version, on route 2 right before Santalune forest. I thought it was a special reward for becoming Champion as I had just beaten the game. It's long gone now, but I will never forget it. It was shortly after the game came out so somewhere around december 2013.

I will never forget my first shiny. In Greece we called them Golden Pokémon (Χρυσά Πόκεμον). I had just finished with Blackthorn City and was climbing down the Route 46. Then suddenly a Shiny Gligar appeared. It's been so many years since then. But I will never forget my first "Golden" Pokémon.
That's fun to know...I was playing Pokemon from a young age but I'm from a small town...so my first real experience with the community was way later in life, when I already knew shiny pokemon by name and.....so i never had the "oh we called them x" moment. Till this day, all Greek fans I interact with just say "βρήκα ένα σάινι"...

My first shiny was a Gligar too! I was just wondering around on Legends Arceus looking for any pokemon I hadn't caught yet and I just randomly saw a little sparkle and realized it was a shiny. I was able to catch him thankfully and he remains as the only shiny I've legitimately caught in my many years of pokemon (Besides the free shiny Ponyta they give you in Legends Arceus).

I love the way you present your videos, shiny Pokémon mean so much to a lot of people and in your intro of this video you did an excellent job of showcasing that, I got goosebumps when you played your reaction and other creators reactions to finding shiny Pokémon. I reacted the exact same way today when I caught my all time favorite shiny Pokémon, hisuian Growlith in arceus! I love being able to relate to that feeling with other Pokémon enthusiast.
I still remember my first shiny. I didn’t grow up with Pokémon and only recently started to properly play it these last few months. While playing heart gold and heading towards a patch of grass outside the safari zone, I had to go through some water first. I found a shiny tentacool, my first ever shiny and a nice one at that. I got so excited at finding my first shiny that I shouted so loud everyone in my house heard me, including my brother who I dragged into Pokémon and quietly said ‘they’ve found a shiny.’ But I accidentally one shot it with my main and never found another shiny (ignoring the garadose in the lake) despite having 60 hours on my save and grinding a ton (I’m currently working on a living dex). I know the shiny odds are gunna be high in this game since I don’t have any item to help me and they hadn’t been lowered permanently yet but you’d think I’d find another shiny after playing for about 30 hours

This video made me feel so emotional. My first shiny was a shiny zubat in the Lost Tower back in Pokemon Pearl. It was the first game I ever played, I was 8 years old. I had no idea what a shiny was, but I was so intrigued by the fact that it was green and I caught it. After talking with friends I realized it was a shiny and it was incredibly rare. I was so excited. No one else I knew had a shiny and it felt so special. My nephew who was a few years younger than me found his first shiny a few months later in pokemon ruby, a shiny Taillow. I saw him encounter it and freaked out telling him how rare it was. He lit up and got so excited. Now him and I shiny hunt in scarlet and violet together all the time, and I swear we get 1-5 new shinies a day. However, no matter what the shiny we obtain is, it'll never compare to the feelings we got when we got those full odds Zubat and Taillow back when we were kids.

A shiny Caterpie that I found back in 2009 playing heart gold. I named it Goldie, and had absolutely no idea what a shiny was, but that Butterfree became my best friend... You’re absolutely right. I remember my first shiny like it was yesterday, playing my fave game Sapphire. I didn’t even know what shiny Pokémon were then, I just knew that this Roselia I found on route 117 was different than the rest and I had to catch it! I spent forever comparing it to my normal one in the PC. This video captures exactly that, the feeling of something special that makes you feel like the only player in the world for just a moment.

My first shiny experience was in pokemon diamond, I encountered a shiny hoot hoot, and it blew my mind, I didn’t even know shiny Pokémon existed, sadly I accidentally fainted it with a critical hit, but that experience has stayed in my mind as one of my personal most mind blowing gaming moments.

Hoo boy, my first shiny Pokémon was complicated. I didn’t like the fact that my first shiny ever caught was a Roselia on a GBA emulator of Ruby. I started playing Pokémon during the X/Y days, so that’s why I was using an emulator for the older games.
But anyways, I never got a shiny from X/Y, S/M, US/UM, or SW/SH. After playing Ruby on the emulator and encountering a shiny Roselia, I thought to myself “I should probably make this my first official shiny in a Pokémon game that I actually own.” So after 1262 eggs in SW/SH, it officially became my first shiny.
And the fact that Budew was the first shiny I found in Legends Arceus just makes this story even more memorable to me. Having another shiny Roselia/Roserade as my first shiny in a game just confirmed how important this shiny Pokémon is to me.
I remember on X and Y launch day I was looking for flabebe for my team.
It was right after the first game, I had barely owned the game for 2 hours (counting travel from store to home) and it had been out for less than 24. I found kept finding budew and my brain like

Budew 2: another budew... *runs
Budew 3: oh ffs just give me flabebe *runs
Budew 4: ...um....wait...did they all have a purple collar? *catches is.

You are absolutely correct. Not only do I remember exactly where I was, and which Pokemon was the very first shiny that I saw (Pokemon silver version, fishing near midnight by the daycare center caught a shiny Krabby).
But I also remember vividly spending hours looking for a fabled golden Ekans that my buddy swore he saw on a certain route.
My first shiny that I remember at least was a shiny Cubchoo in White. I was riding the bus to the mall. I could literally show you the exact spot in the street when it happened. It's why Cubchoo has a spot in my heart.
I think another thing that makes Pokémon special versus other games is that even if you encounter a shiny Pokémon, it does not guarantee you will catch it! The excitement of finding a shiny is mixed with anxiety, like “I just found one of the rarest things in Pokémon and what if I kill it and miss this rare opportunity?!” (unless you have false swipe haha). You either have the forever joy of catching it, or forever dread of killing it.
I will never forget going to fight red in soul silver and finding a random shiny larvitar. Then while leveling it up to use against red for less than an hour I got pokerus. I was on the phone with my friend and we were both just absolutely baffled. My prize mon.

I remember my most recent shiny was a Gligar in Legends Arceus by outbreak. When I saw the thing I went dead silent until it stayed in the ball! I distinctly remember wanting any shiny and unloading/Reloading environments until an outbreak appeared; I just got lucky with the Gligar. As for my first shiny ever, counting Go it was Scyther (Yes, I was lucky enough for my first ever random shiny to be a freaking scyther. Im a bug type fan so this was awesome) but In the main series it was Trapinch, by masuda method. The guy (named Ace) was hatched while watching a video on shiny Pokémon, I think it was ADrive, In my old dining room. I still have them; They’re a lvl 100 full EV shiny Flygon with Pokerus now. I got the dang thing in like 9 eggs!
My first shiny was actually fairly recent. I didnt have access to the older games so it was a shiny Skiddo on Violet. Though it's not as rare as the old ones, it's still really important to me.
That's all that matters.
In all my time playing Pokémon, from Silver to White 2, I still remember catching that shiny Fearow on the slopes of Stark Mountain and that shiny Clefairy in the Giant Chasm.

Shiny Magikarp, about 8 years old and in the car with my family going south for our holiday. Still remember seeing that golden fish popping up out of nowhere. I remember saving the game ( fortunately) before evolving it to learn it turns into a red gyrados. so kept it as the golden carp, still got it to this day! (18 years on)

The first Pokémon I ever caught was a shiny geodude in Pokémon crystal. I ended up losing it soon after, as I was playing on an emulator and the tab got closed (I didn’t have a proper console yet) but I always remembered it, and literally the same day as I’m typing this was actually the day that I found it again on the DS version of Pokémon crystal! I’ll finally be able to evolve it into the golem that it was always supposed to be
I remember being heartbroken as I was grinding and the first shiny I discovered I didn't notice was shiny until AFTER I clicked to attack it. And it dropped. The first shiny I caught was a Whimsur in Ruby. ...As was the second. In a different playthrough. And I was taunted in a later gen with the third shiny I caught being... Loudred. (Not counting the story Gyarados of course.) The past few months I've been playing a lot of pokemon. And in all the time, I hadn't seen a single shiny, until Arceus, where I've since caught two (again, not counting the side quest one). I even tried to shiny hunt in Let's Go for HOURS, without luck. This video's pretty spot on. Mind you, I'm not unhappy that it's 'easier' in Arceus. And I've never gone full on shiny hunting - other than the failed Let's Go attempt. But I appreacate that there are ways to, for those that dedicate themselves to the task.

My first shiny was a hoothoot in the grass just below ecruteak city on route 37 in soul silver. I remember it so clearly, I was 11 or so and was at my best friends place for a sleepover and we were just playing around for ages on our ds's and then it suddenly happened, I didn't even know what it was at the time but my friends reaction was something I never forgot. That's when I learned what shinies were, and that's when my story became unique. I will never forget it.
I completely agree with this. I’m 2013 I changed the battery on my Pokémon Gold and had a play through where I encountered Pokérus. The moment is burnt into my memory. It was awesome! I will forever remember that team and that play through because of that rarity

I was on a trip back home and found a shiny butterfree in the bug catching contest in heart gold. Easily one of the best moments of my young life.
Here is the thing about Pokemon developer haven't fully expanded on yet, unique variation are important.
Let say in the electric plant in most Pokemon what if there was a 1/500 Pikachu sprite where he holds onto something conductive, or in a cave, a digglet with one arm aticking out of the ground, and inherently has vine whip which would make him very storng inna cave.. a two headed charizard with lower speed. Def and a significantly higher sp. Attack.
Then the unique shiny would be that much more interesting along with the set of spirit u e acquired.
The first one I caught was an audino I found in 7th grade before school. Unfortunately I lost the cart it was on and I still think about her to this day. Maybe someday I'll find her again on a new adventure?
My first shiny was a Staravia in Diamond. I couldn’t believe it. I almost dropped my DS because I was jumping in disbelief. It truly was a magical moment that sticks with me. I’m so thankful I still have it all these years later.
0:42 I might as well answer this too. My first ever shiny Pokémon was in Pokémon X and Y. It was a female Venipede on Palais Lane, or route 6. I was just walking down the path and I accidentally walked past one of the bushes Pokémon jump out at you from. I absolutely freaked out when I found this thing. It was late at night at the time and I was asked to quiet down. As you can see, I remember that night very clearly. I still cherish the Scolipede, now named Unox (Uno for being my first shiny and X being the game I caught her in.)
Back when I was 7 I had a DS and a broken GBA cartridge of pokemon fire red. When I would get to the point of boarding the SS Anne the game would crash and wipe all my data, keep in mind that to progress through the game you needed to board the SS Anne. So, I was young and easy to please and just carried on playing through to the game many times to see if it would fix. I eventually got a shiny Pidgey as one my first encounters. Still so memorable to this day because I had to ask my Dad to tell me what it was.
I’ll never forget playing OG ruby for the first time. My starter was treeko and in the first Forest I found a red shroomish! It was my very first and only completely random complete accidental shiny find. I’ll remember it for ever. I didn’t even know shinies were a thing tell that day. I remember showing all my friends and cousins! They were all hyped with me.
I was just starting elementary, and my dad had let me borrow his old Special Pikachu Edition for the car ride to the airport.
Had no idea what a shiny, or Pokémon, even was at the time. Just took one look at the Shiny Spearow that’d popped out of the grass, and fell in love with its golden feathers…Can’t remember the nickname I gave it though. 😅 Been a little over two decades since then. Not sure if I even still have the Save File.
i actually found my first shiny at a high school football game! surrounded by other geeky band kids my freshman year, i was playing a leaf green emulator on my phone and i found a shiny vulpix. i knew it was special, even with my limited pokemon knowledge at the time, and my friends helped me catch it so we made sure we wouldn’t loose him. named him pixel, that rom file is long gone but i miss him :(

I don’t remember my first shiny I caught, but I remember the first shiny I stumbled across. A shiny Spinda before ever knowing what a shiny was, before ever seeing a Spinda, and thinking the sparkles had to do with the ash from the tall grass.
What I do remember is hatching a shiny Deino and finding a wild shiny Druddigon on the same day which blew my little mind.
I got a shiny Zubat when I was a kid, but my sibling accidentally deleted my account on my DS, but when I got BDSP, on my third day of playing, BOOM! SHINY ZUBAT! It came back

I remember my first shiny was a Farfetch in the safari zone in HG. I was so excited about it as it was so random but I was sad bc I couldn’t catch it. Still it was quite unforgettable
My first shiny encounter was a shiny Tentacool more than 20 years ago on Pokémon Silver.
I went to see if I could Surf on the little pond inside the Day Care Center in Goldenrod, the moment I started surfing on the pound that Tentacool with blue blobs instead of red ones appeared. I thought there was something wrong with my Gameboy, so I turned it off. Spent months surfing on that same little pond to see if I could see the shiny Tentacool again, but it never appeared.
I remember when I first played lets go eevee that I knew shiny hunting was going to be easy and while I barely had the game running for less than 30 minutes a full odd (1/4096) shiny rattata spawned and I completely lost it. That and my random encounter with a shiny magikarp in sun and moon were the best core moments of this game
I personally can’t remember my first shiny, because I was introduced to them when I started playing Pokémon, and have been hunting since then. That being said my most memorable shiny was probably in the middle of a playthrough with my friend in Omega Ruby. I had a Vulpix egg for some reason, hatched it, and it was shiny. That’s probably why that line is one of my favorites to this day

Man this video almost made me cry, beautifully written. My first shiny was a Mudbray from Pokémon Sun. I’d loved Pokémon since when black and white first came out but never had enough money to get my own game until my parents bought me one in 2016, right before I turned 10. I became a Pokémon trainer.
Perfectly put together. Almost brought a tear to my eye. I remember besides the red gyarados from pokemon silver, my first shiny encounter was a blue voltorb from pokemon emerald . What a memory. Thanks for that
My first shiny that wasn’t Gyarados happened in Mt. Silver, when I was playing the original Gold. It was Steelix, I don’t remember how old I was, but I was a child and I had lots of happy tears 😅
