When another person believes in me it actually feels like an honor and I don't want to let them down.

So true working on building trust online should require more effort to build trust. I have been tricked multiple times online. The part about me never thinking about tricking other people in life or online is how I got tricked. Because I gave someone I did not know in person the benefit of my trust without them actually being trustworthy. That was a bummer. In person interactions and online interactions are definitely two different things. Creating trust in both aspects is a game changer.

I love this! You are speaking about building trust and teaching human skills. I think learning about human skills is very important for sure. I believe a good leader teaches their followers everything they know so they can eventually become a leader as well. When a person actually believes in another person and sees value in them they will stop at nothing to help them improve themselves. Communication is so important you just never know when you will hear a golden nugget from hearing another person speak. It's amazing when it happens though.

Exactly I love that to! Only competing against yourself and who you were yesterday when it comes to personal development is amazing for sure. It teaches people how to trust themselves even more so. Adversity is key for sure because no two people have been through the same experiences. Each person's experiences can be learned from and built up on.

What is the reason that it says "women in leadership" below two men talking?

I’m trying to imagine what kind of person would enjoy daily commute. This is a major disconnect between different types of people. I can’t think of anything worse than sitting in traffic and yet there are people out there celebrating the “free time away from my kids”. Not everybody has a situation where they want or need that free time so stop pretending like commuting to an office is somehow relaxing or recharging

    • @lissadalmau9676
      @lissadalmau9676 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

I think it would depend on the type of commute. I commute 2 hours one way in traffic, it sounds like he gets on a train and catches up on his reading, emails, and listens to music he enjoys. I don't enjoy my commute, bit Id be a lot happier if it were shorter and I could read instead of sitting in traffic.

Brainstorming online is possible using collaborative documents, where everyone can type in and respond in writing. Sometimes easier for introverts to give their opinion in writing.

I like Simon and his ideas, but I think he is wrong on the homeoffice/online thing wrt trust. It is not as b/w as he describes. I have colleagues I trust and this trust was only built online. I also have collegues that I dont have such a strong connection and I meet them regularly at work F2F. Trust can be built purely online and it is up to us as leaders to give our employees the tools to be able to do that. Do F2F meetings or workshops or excursions help, sure they do. Does this mean, people have to come to the office once in a while, no it doesn’t. It is up to every individual to tell us, how they like to work to stay motivated and feel connected. And if they dont know it is our responsibility to work this out with them. In other talks Simon talks about introverts and extroverts and how introverts are exhausted after a day full of social interactions. This feeds into the formula. The outcome of this must be that our employees trust us and each other, are motivated and feel heard.

Very well said. Instead of forcing both parties to a hybrid approach, it's better to let introverts stay at home, and extroverts go to the office. Give each employee what fits them best.
Moreover, Simon's point ignores the fact that there are many international workers, and even people living in the countryside that don't have to move out to the big cities just so they can work.

I'm not sure I agree with you, but enjoyed reading your take nonetheless.
Allowing both sides to work in the way they want results in the extroverts being forced to work online like an introvert if they want to have a relationship with the introverts, without asking the same in return from the introverts.
If I know that someone is so uncomfortable by the prospect of ever having to interact with me in person, it will be hard for me to ever feel like that person trusts me.

    • @kobetigrett

Trust is built upon relationships. How will introverts and extroverts build that relationship and trust in each other if they never step into the office or if the never do remote meetings?
Either way one must sacrifice to build trust and he is only stating that to be fair the introvert must be willing to come in sometimes and the extrovert must be willing to do remote work sometimes. Otherwise one side is favored. He has a company that is fully remote, however, he finds ways to work around it and they still have to have some FTF meetings on ocassion. He has also experimented with alternative remote solutions.

I have a LOT of respect for Simon, in regards to his approach or advice on leadership and how the mind works...
But lately Simon's personal politics have become obvious in these videos.
A few months ago there was a video where he talked about a coworker or employee that was hesitant to get a COVID vaccine. And Simon talked about how he suggested getting one brand over the others, because it didn't use the mRNA technology, and the employee ended up getting an mRNA version anyway...
Then this video mentioning the "January 6th 'invaders'"...
The politically charged rhetoric gets in the way of the message.
Seriously... I've listened to the whole video, and that's the only thing I can remember now, 40 minutes in...
I believe that Simon has something to teach everyone. Left, Right, and Center... But the only effective way to convey these messages is to keep political bias out of the story.
My own bias must be obvious. But only because I'm taking the time to write this comment.
When/if Simon speaks about the 2020 BLM protests... I'd bet he calls them "protests"... Not the "2020 BLM arsonists"...
Just like the BLM protesters were not ALL "arsonists", the January 6th protesters were not ALL "invaders".
I really hope this point gets through. Because I know that Mr Sinek is a brilliant man with lots to teach us all about being a good leader, and a good person overall. Not just those with left wing ideals... 🙏🏻✌🏻
