I also had distal radius fracture and had a surgery 5 weeks ago. These exercises are great. I do them each day in my breaks of work. They help a lot.
I also found out that; actually using your hand helps a lot too. I try to do daily stuff a little bit more each day.
I wasn't able to eat with my right hand, then barely able to eat 4 days ago, yesterday I was able to eat near-properly :) I was able to lift a glass 2 weeks ago, last week I was able to lift glass of water and drink, two days ago I was able to lift and drink from 500ml bottle easily. I will try 1 or 2kg bottles whenever I can :)
Also, my next challenge is opening doors with my right hand. I will share the results :D

@@sonubhai1048 It's been 10 weeks I guess. I could open doors at 6-7 weeks or so. I can easily pour tea with 2kg teapot.
Pronation and Supination is almost full rotation with a little pain at the end of rotation.
Ulnar and radial deviation is still a little hard.
Prayer stretch is at 80° instead of 90°.
Btw, this video shows the exercises but does not show how to progress. At week 6; my doctor advised me to stretch until pain point for each exercise, then stretch a little more and wait 20 seconds. I've done these 3-4 times a day and I could see the progress afterwards. Also I did not try so hard until week 4.

I am 6 weeks post-op distal radius fx ORIF still wearing a removable brace totally out of Oxycodone post-op RX oh, I received a metal plate with 10 screws and literally have no strength in my left wrist at all. I'm wondering if it is gone for good. The pain is still pretty well pronounced I would say moderate-to-severe and I still have a lot of major post-op bruising. My phone was falling out of my hand I was backing up trying to keep it from falling and tripped over an ottoman, I stuck out my arms to break my fall and shattered my left wrist.

One year on from the distal radius fracture, it turns out it is a poor repair, some 5 degrees or so out, I find I am unable to play my previous sports of squash and tennis due to restricted lateral movement of my hand. It strikes me one is better off breaking both radius and ulna, that way they have to use a metal plate and screws to fix the fracture. surely allowing for more accurate healing? Rather than, "err, that looks about right"? Would I be able to get it reset by a more competent clinician?

I’m here 2 weeks after ORIF distal radius and ulna head surgery in my right arm from breaking both in a snowboarding accident. Had to get a metal plate and around 10 screws put in. To make matters worse, I also had a minor hairline fracture in my left wrist. Very informative video! I’ve gotten a lot of my mobility back that I thought I would never have again. I’m currently in a smaller splint cast than I was right after surgery and will be put into a small brace next week.
Something I’ve noticed though is that my right wrist sticks up a lot more and appears bigger than my left now. Do you know if this is from the plate/screws or from just being a bit swollen still from surgery? Will this appearance likely subside at all?

The best thing you can do is draw a hot bath a little Epsom Salt and relax while doing the exercises while your wrists are under the hot water!! The heat of water really helps to get 100% of your movement back!! It's also a PAIN RELEAVER FREE way of doing it!! My bone doctor came into the examination room at my last appointment and said... I had distal radius surgery in July n in October hardware were removed. I can almost make a fist. Morning are the worse because hand is very stiff n it feels like no progress, but during the day I work hard at my fingers. She should go as she can tolerate. I go on Virtual Hand Care in TH-cam. Those videos are great! Have her do the stiff finger ones first. That's how I started. My therapist suggested I purchase a paraffin wax machine n I just did from Amazon. I also just started to do a hand injury yoga video on TH-cam. It's a long journey that also affects us mentally, but Lord willing we'll get much better. I wish her quick recovery.

    1. The first 50 seconds the audio is in the mud (extremely, unintelligibly, low). 2. I can't do TENDON GLIDING at all; I can't do the hook; I can't make a fist either, by the way.... I'm screwed, aren't I? Might as well chop this useless hand off.

@@vulture-6 It's a year later, I had another surgery; I was told there'd be limited progress (the seriousness of the original damage, the delay in seeing the second surgeon [who said I'd been misdiagnosed by the first surgeon] ) it's somewhat better than it was. I work on it everyday regardless, still seeing an occupational therapist weekly. I have no hopes, but I don't write that in any downbeat way; I simply don't think about the future condition of my wrist. I do what I do & what'll happen will happen. If I have no hope then I won't have any hopes dashed if I stay focused in the present, is how I think of it. Thanks for your words of encouragement though, vulture-6.

s/p distal radius with T Plate ORIF I was very aggressive with working my wrist to get full 100% mobility back. It is crucial to jump on this to avoid permanent stiffness. Basically I just worked my wrist all day long watching TV and whatnot to get full mobility. After bandage removed I could not turn hand over at all or bend wrist up and down.

@bob carter , thank you for the reply. The doctors didn’t give me much information.
When you started manipulating your wrist , how intense was the pain?? I feel like it’s excruciating. My fingers are extremely tight with little movement, but the pain is way less severe when I move/manipulate them. Do you work through the pain? Because it is insanely painful, this is after 12 days of surgery.
